I have been heavily into music for most of my life. I bought toys in the attic used for $3 in 1976 at 8 yrs old. Zep and the Stones are my favorites of all time, but Zep just has something more than any other band I have ever heard. They grab you and knock you straight on your ass. To hear Ahmet, who is like the grandfather for RR bands give Zep the kind of props that he gives in this clip, just puts it into perspective. He is basically saying they trumped everyone, and that's because it's true.
Zeppelin defined a genre and set a standard. They never nade the same album twice and retained all their original members until Bonham's death in 1980. Quite a feat.
led zep has been and will always be the mold for every hard rock band in the history of hard rock and metal !..there's no denying this or escaping it ..those who think otherwise are sadly mistaken ! their look , sound , stage presence, touring antics, debauchery, are synonymous with every cliche that exists within the music world and in all broad spectrums of it ! Zeppelin is Rock n Roll !
This is great -- thanks for uploading! Another band that suffered much tragedy over the years was Lynyrd Skynyrd. The original band lost singer Ronnie, vocalist Cassie, guitarist Steve and manager Dean in a 1977 plane crash; guitarist Allen in 1993 to pneumatic complications from an auto crash that left him paraplegic, bassist Leon in 2001 from liver failure, and pianist Billy of a massive heart attack in 2008, and current line-up recently lost 2 members = 8 total. So tragic, so very sad.
I had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times - Aug. 71, July '73 and April 75. They had such a mystery and raw sexuality about them...and of course the music remains insurpassible! Best rock band of all time!
i dont know much about led zeppelin but im a musician myself and have great respect for any band that does what they want and what they believe and the more i learn of this band and there genius business moves the greater my respect is
This is definately a different version than the one I watched on the Bio channel, like, 6 times! Led Zeppelin is one of the pioneers of one of my favorite types of music-HEAVY FRICKIN' METAL!!! \m/
That's because Peter Grant was the band's manger. Grant was also the manager of the Yardbirds and when they broke up and left Jimmy Page without a band it was he and Grant that put the band back together as the New Yardbirds. Ultimately the name was changed to Led Zeppelin and Grant managed them for their entire career. Jimmy was the leader of the band and Grant was the manager. That's why the phrase "With Grant and Page at the helm" is used.
@ginghamslut : Yeah well they are hehehehehe "Led Zeppelin is the best band ever" Hm, that felt great! I am old, wooooo! AND "Led Zeppelin is the best band ever" hehehehehehe I typed all that in less than 40 minutes hehehehehehe
If you are talking about THE song at precisely at 5:16, that is "Rock-n-Roll". But shortly after that is another song. Please reply to let me know if that answered your question.
@MrMisterBluesman Totally agree with you, bro. Moreover, here in NY one year I recall WNEW having a playlist for one glorious weekend that consisted SOLELY of: The Beatles, The Stones, Zeppelin and The Who! I was in freakin' heaven for that weekend!
@FredFoswell Ac/Dc may not have sold more records over all than Led Zeppelin, Zep have been around longer, but Back In Black sold more records than any Zep album, its the 2nd highest selling record of all time, next to "Thriller"
The real difference between Led Zeppelin and AC/DC isn't the records sold, it's that the only talented one in AC/DC is the guitarist, as for Led Zeppelin in which all members had massive amounts of talent.
Zeppelin in concert back the day? Imagine the biggest frigging mega fan plugged in on stage blowing out, reversing the fan direction & sucking in .. while the masses were left ... blown away and then pulled into the experience - dazed and helpless as though they were each tiny scraps of confetti ..
Both times I saw them: Kezar Stadium (San Francisco) and the Oakland Coliseum they were disappointing. I know that this is not a popular sentiment but I truly believe that their "legend" is much greater than their reality ever was. But, I've got to hand it to Zeppelin fans, you certainly are faithful.
Debut in "Surrey, England"? cool. the first outside the UK was in Denmark: Sept. 7 Gladsaxe, Copenhagen, Denmark (as "The New Yardbirds") Sept. 8 Fjordvilla, Roskilde, Denmark (as "The New Yardbirds") Sept. 14 Angby Park, Sweden (as "The New Yardbirds")
Eh who cares if they did or didn't sell more then whomever. Not like any of us will see any of that money. The biography ain't bad and it's still amazing what they did and the music they released.
@1dpat69 That isn't cool. That is like playing Wolfmother or Kingdom Come along with a Led Zepplin biography. I call it bullshit. Like when Aerosmith had their biography done on MTV. MTV played techno and rap music along with the history of Aerosmith. That makes no sense.
In my recording studio "The Blast Zone" in Switzerland- I have recently and successfully recaptured Led Zeppelin's energy and sonic tone of the classic "Communication Breakdown" performing all instruments AND vocals by myself- can't believe it? have a listen- www.kinoman.az/az/music/listen/233694595?q=
When is this from? They say Led Zeppelin sold the most next to The Beatles, but I thaught the top 5 was this: 1. The Beatles 2. ABBA 3. Queen 4. Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd 5. The Rolling Stones
@towser06 Come on. You can't say the Who were much better. You prefer the Who, OK, that's your choice, by the way thanx for the Who uploads, I really enjoyed watching them. Greetings from wiesbaden
The Greatest Band Ever! No one will ever top them. The only band I can think of that are up there with LZ is Rush. RIP John Bonham. Will wear all black to school on Fri, Sept. 25 in honor of one of the greatest drummers ever.
that song is NOT Led Zeppelin. That's a song put in by the producers of this video. That same thread of music is throughout the video. Studio band of some sort. Contact the producers for the exact answer
@MarkOpee1 LOL, Yeah, John Bonham was possessed by his own spirit, Plant was possessed by Robert's spirit. LOL, sure they were a little crazy, but not evil! Man, have you ever even HEARD Stairway To Heaven, or for that matter, In My Time Of Dying?
LOL! Jack Bruce complimenting them! Last time I heard when Bruce heard Led Zeppelin I from Ginger Baker, Jack was disgusted by it... LOL! But here he said "By the time they were big, they certainly had fine art." So he was talking about Led Zeppelin II... LOL!
@JackOfferlott i wear beatles tshirts, oh nad by the way i absolutely love led zeppeling, they are one of the greatest band ever, but jimmy page rip off quite a lot of songs from other bands
4:05 "With Grant and Page at the helm"????? Lol how did that pass through editing? Also, "the name was made up by Kieth Moon or John Enthwistle" do your research. Led Zeppelin is the best band ever and deserves better.
"Led Zeppelin... The biggest baddest most beloved band... in America." FFS, why do Americans think little old (staggeringly dumb) America is the whole world..? Poor education?
WHY HAVENT MORE PEOPLE WATCHED THIS! because Zeps story is old and known we all know about page and his black magic stuff and the zep were the biggest rip offs artist in rock music. stole so many lyrics and songs but didnt want to pay royalties untill they got sued. And they put up a storm if you did it to there songs. Espeacially ones that they stoled. Dont get me wrong I like zep but thats the truth about em. Bad influence on the youth. But good music and guitar influence.
I can't stand sloppy journalism/documentary makers when is someone going to make a decent documentary about Zepellin? They didn't even get the date or place of their debut right for chrissake. Their debut (OK I'm being a bit of a Zep. geek here) was on 7th September 1968 in Denmark. Fucking amateurs!
I have been heavily into music for most of my life. I bought toys in the attic used for $3 in 1976 at 8 yrs old. Ahmet really did give them the biggest praise and he was there for their birth and what came after.
Zeppelin defined a genre and set a standard. They never nade the same album twice and retained all their original members until Bonham's death in 1980. Quite a feat.
God Bless Ahmet for signing the mighty Zeppelin! That man knew it!!!

Well Grant and Page were at the helm when it came to producing the albums.
i dont know much about led zeppelin but im a musician myself and have great respect for any band that does what they want and what they believe and the more i learn of this band and there genius business moves the greater my respect is
Says there were 4 of them. Holds up 3 fingers.
nowhere produces better rockstars than the british
Seattle?
@Jim Marley
:
Graceland?
Hey, hey, tell us the true story about that time when Led Zeppelin met Elvis hehehehe what an awesome story hehehehehehe
As a studio musician, Jimmy Page was on 70 percent of the music from the "British Invasion".
They just had a new on out (biography) called dazed and confused.
thanks for posting this
led zeppelin and black sabbath. 2 best and most influential bands to come from engand
This is definately a different version than the one I watched on the Bio channel, like, 6 times! Led Zeppelin is one of the pioneers of one of my favorite types of music-HEAVY FRICKIN' METAL!!! \m/
i'll just say the beatles r great, but LED ZEPPELIN o man, funny story, my dad got me into led zeppelin i'll never look back
LED ZEPPELIN IS THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
4:08
OMG The narrator says "With GRANT & Page at the helm"
That's because Peter Grant was the band's manger. They should call this biography "Old guys say 'Led Zeppelin is the best band ever' for 40 minutes'

the forefathers of hard rock and heavy metal
ladies and gentlemen... Led Zeppelin !
If you are talking about THE song at precisely at 5:16, that is "Rock-n-Roll". But shortly after that is another song. Please reply to let me know if that answered your question.
1.Queen
2.Led Zeppelin
3.Pink Floyd
4. I don't like them but The Beatles.
Greatets bands of all time.
Led Zeppelin are Gods.
@MrMisterBluesman Totally agree with you, bro. Moreover, here in NY one year I recall WNEW having a playlist for one glorious weekend that consisted SOLELY of:
The Beatles, The Stones, Zeppelin and The Who! I was in freakin' heaven for that weekend!
45 years later and stronger then ever....
the reason he says page and grant, is b\c Page was at his best than. It even says in most Zeppelin books.
@FredFoswell Ac/Dc may not have sold more records over all than Led Zeppelin, Zep have been around longer, but Back In Black sold more records than any Zep album, its the 2nd highest selling record of all time, next to "Thriller"
"There was four of them" -holds up three fingers-
@caveman5692 Actually, he is referring to Peter Grant, the fantastic manager. Page was, of course, heavily involved in management decisions.
i love when people talk about pop singers in a led zeppelin video...
so i can mark them as spam XD
The real difference between Led Zeppelin and AC/DC isn't the records sold, it's that the only talented one in AC/DC is the guitarist, as for Led Zeppelin in which all members had massive amounts of talent.
CORRECTION: Pianist Billy Powell died in January 2009 ... not in 2008.
Nice. Funny!!!!!!!!!!

Every band in fucking America in 1980's became a Zeppelin clone, but never came close.
leddd zeppelin!
@newman015 No, he refers to Peter Grant, naturally. Listen to the context.
I think music thats played at 5:17 are definitely Yardbirds...but I don´t know name of the song...
Eh who cares if they did or didn't sell more then whomever. Not like any of us will see any of that money.
The biography ain't bad and it's still amazing what they did and the music they released.
anyone notice around 4:05 that the narrator refers to Robert plant as "Grant"?
@1dpat69 That isn't cool. That is like playing Wolfmother or Kingdom Come along with a Led Zepplin biography. I call it bullshit. Like when Aerosmith had their biography done on MTV. MTV played techno and rap music along with the history of Aerosmith. That makes no sense.

@Alu142 i think they might have had one. maybe one.
When is this from? They say Led Zeppelin sold the most next to The Beatles, but I thaught the top 5 was this:
1. The Beatles
2. ABBA
3. Queen
4. Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd
5. The Rolling Stones
What Led Zepplin album is that killer song on at the 1 minute 18 seconds mark?
Does any of you fine UA-camrs know the name of the song/melody at 5.16? It'd be much appreciated if you could tell me!
They maintained the myth by stealing other artists music, claiming it as their own and not giving those artists credit or royalties.
@RockShop101 A whole four of them.....(holds up 3 fingers.....)
Why does this documentary have to use so much generic music? It should only have Zep's music in it.
wats the name of the riff @ 5:16? I'm kinda new to Zeppelin :D
The narrator is the voice of the male elves in Oblivion
@towser06 Come on. You can't say the Who were much better. You prefer the Who, OK, that's your choice, by the way thanx for the Who uploads, I really enjoyed watching them.

What's the song at 5:16?
They plagiarized quite a lot, but they're still the second greatest group ever.

@1973mazdarx4coupe So basically you're saying music is dead?
Led Zeppelin are very good but they're only my sixth favourite band and they are kind of like The Who which are known as my favourite band
LOL! Jack Bruce complimenting them! Last time I heard when Bruce heard Led Zeppelin I from Ginger Baker, Jack was disgusted by it... LOL! But here he said "By the time they were big, they certainly had fine art." So he was talking about Led Zeppelin II... LOL!
song at 5:17?
@JackOfferlott i wear beatles tshirts, oh nad by the way i absolutely love led zeppeling, they are one of the greatest band ever, but jimmy page rip off quite a lot of songs from other bands
Chris Dreja, i love u man but u gotta learn ur finger-counting @1:31
4:05 "With Grant and Page at the helm"????? Lol how did that pass through editing? Also, "the name was made up by Kieth Moon or John Enthwistle" do your research. Led Zeppelin is the best band ever and deserves better.
Grant and Page were at the helm. Peter Grant asked Page to form the band...And either Moon or Entwhistle said it would go down like a lead Zeppelin

Really, AC/DC have sold more than the great Led Zeppelin? Hm.
Thank you.
Mad man
@towser06 kieth richards ? yawn ..
my dad did coke with jimmy page!
LZ is great but they ripped off a hell of a lot of other music. Even their beloved Stairway to Heaven ripped off the intro from another band.
@MasterGodfather97 Dude. AC/DC is awful. Now, Cream... that's a good band, yet even they fail to reach the incredible level of the Led Zeppelin.
Heart suck
