I play this game permadeath. Highest lvl I've been was 22. It's all about learning the mechanics, preparing with the right supplies, and good decision-making at every turn.
You can carry two weapons and swap tabs with the "w" key. Kiting with a bow or crossbow is a good strategy early on. Buy proper medical gear like healing salves and splints. Always keep your health topped off. Honestly though. You died surprisingly often.
I had problems at the beginning to, so here is my tip, the only one you need: Explore, just like that, this game doesn't like people who rush, take your time to explore the map, find secret places, fight low level goons and level up. I promise that makes the game WAY more easy
You still die to the same random frustrating crap, you get level 6 or whatever and the bandits go to tier 2 and feel worse than they do at level 1. There's still overpowered way higher level monsters that spawn in the camps while looking for a save point, some of them that can just kill you while trying to escape like harpies and spiders.
@@rotm4447 usually harpies and spiders spawn on the special places on the map. Use acrobatics to run away from any danger that you can't withstand. Too much enemies in the dungeon? Run away. The bear just became aggressive because you was 1 tile too close? Run away. The bandits are too strong and there is too many of them? Run away. Use acrobatics to shorten or increased distance depending on the situation and you would survive much more often.
@@tolikkazan9889you're just telling me the problems with the game now like acrobatics being the only escape tool locked behind skill books, the fact its a talent point tax to begin with for basic mechanics, and dash is even worse being tier 2. Who wants to constantly run from fights anyway, its immersion breaking and feels like you're manipulating the games programming dragging everything through sometimes multiple zone walls, hugging edges, etc because you get random zones with literally 10 bandits hanging around together.
@rotm4447 if you need to run constantly it means that you are doing something wrong. If there is 10 bandits in zone, try fighting them 1 by 1. If you are close to the end of the zone, enemies can follow you to next zone if they are close enough, Don't fight 10 bandits at once, fight 1 or 2 bandits. The whole game is about analyzing your chances and making decisions. Trying to mindlessly juggernaut through a horde of enemies guarantees you death, while clever choice of fights and enemies can easily kill dozens of enemies without serious injuries for yourself. Dash have good synergy with almost every build but it doesn't make it necessary for them. The dash isn't necessary mechanic, it is your last chance to run away when you understand that you messed up somewhere and you need to run, also dash can be used to shorten the distance to mages and archers. It is useful, but game is easily playable without it.
@@lrdhsyonce you find a good synergy for a build it’s really easy. Also paying attention to the difficulty of a contract - relative to your level - helps a lot when deciding on taking it.
You played exactly like I did in my first run! I died like 10 times before finally clearing the brewery. Funny thing there is a way to not fight there but work with the bewery instead, because the elder lied to you. You get more money and the cart aswell, hahah. Talking to npcs and reading in general is op in this game.
As a mage in the early game with permadeath mode is absolute pain. But once you understand the mechanics and are always prepared, when the highest lvl is reached you are a God lol.
Protip: play the prologue/tutorial. Your first few deaths would have been prevented. It does get significantly easier once you master the basics. Just like in real life you want to prevent facing multiple opponents at once. As a side note, those enemies you were facing by the broken cart were mid-late game. I've only been ganked by an enemy that strong once. Reeeeeal bad luck.
i've only watched the first 2 minutes and can tell this idiot doesn't read tutorials with lethal consequences. he ignored the lesson on attacks of opportunity and then proceeded to run away, getting hit repeatedly
Btw, you can equip two load outs of weapons and hot swap between them by pressing W. I noticed that you were wasting two turns by equipping your bow and arrows. Also it will save you inventory space.
Thats wild, if u put some hours into it learning the combat system and cc ect, positioning its actually super fair and a fun challenge. Best game ever!
This game could have a bigger audience if they explained things a bit better, had a proper save feature and better balancing. The art style is so juiced and I love this kind of stop and go-turn based genre.
The game is really hard as a new player because a lot of the difficulty mainly stems from the unknown. An example of this is not knowing to buy medicine. Half the battle is being prepared for a dungeon before getting there.
Bruh the first outpost is such a bitch, i had to clear two floors and died like three times and then i started walking back after clearing a part of the dungeon to rest and save Also enemies can follow you thru zones, its only dungeon enemies they cant leave their dungeon PS, Odar is more than meets the eye, try talking to the villagers and the second mission becomes a lot easier
This is a game I've always been on the fence about; I'm put off by all the reviews saying it's been abandoned and unfinished. It's a shame because it genuinely has potential. If you think DF's Adventure mode is fun, I definitely recommend you try out Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (it's free) or Caves of Qud. SsethTzeentach has a hilarious review on both of them.
It isn’t abandoned, the development is just slow and got off put cos of the Ukraine war There’s a huge update that’s like 2 yrs worth of content coming in December
I like the game but the hopping movement when you move and the attack movements just reminds me of southpark or something. I wish it was just fluid walking with nice looking combat.
@Cyproterjoan yeh, I prefer FFT (Final Fantasy Tactics) movements, attacks, and even the sfx. This game is somewhat of a hybrid of different styles. Its good, but if it had more of a FFT style to it, or even Darkest Dungeon, I probably wouldn't be able to put it down. The music also doesn't captivate me, yet, but I also haven't got past the first major quest yet.
thanks for watching guys, if u wanna come chat here's my awful discord server: discord.gg/uPdn9mgPnu

I play this game permadeath. Highest lvl I've been was 22. It's all about learning the mechanics, preparing with the right supplies, and good decision-making at every turn.
And its about random enemy rolls as well. I completed my first permadeath run (lvl 30 and killing both bosses) after 460 hours of trying
respect, never dared. even tho i wont die too often nowadays, losing all the progress would make me quit.

I've done this but with fire magic. I still struggle so much though lol
You got kind of lucky for getting the only high lvl broken cart on start.
There's biggest update on december 16th, hope to see more from you.
I look forward to it
the same thing just happened to me, the same character, in the same location, crazy

The game punished you for being ignorant. Once you learn the mechanics, it's easy street.
Ain’t no way this game ever becomes easy street

Damn, channel with 4k subs making good content? Keep it up man! great vid
Thank you man :)
Casually dying in the tutorial town will always be casual 😂
To be fair I align more with the games where the reaction to a wild bear is "Oh shit!" instead of charging like a maniac. 🤣🤣🤣
