the ad he made at the end of this seems so ironic in contrast to this song. no shade, go get ur money but it’s just funny.
I think it was intentional . Maybe not but ...
@@OsamaBinDarrel Seems WAY to convenient to just be a coincidence, I want to believe he has some self awareness to the ad. More than making money, but to fulfill a self fulfilling prophecy.
And remember kids: there is no ethical consumption under capitalism!
It’s just how things have to be whilst we’re in the USA for now lol... like bands I seen that want socialism or even are straight up commies and shit or EVEN the PUNK annarchist liars participate in capitalism with their merch and all
There's not a bad action in spending money the bad thing is losing the control, the problem with the people that hate capitalism is that they romanticize the life without money telling you that having money and how people abuse of other to get that money is the problem, you can argue that we have laws to control the abuses but then they say "well yeah, but the government is corrupt" yeah it is but that abuses and that corruption are part of any system you know or you create no matter how perfect it looks, they are unable to see that the problem is not a faceless system but the bad actions of some, and how the real solution to our problems is to act against that people instead of fuc*ing destroy everything.
conclusion: watch out for consumerism..."And that's why I really love these here headphones"
I get the man needs money but the whole message of the video is lost on that sponsor lol. It felt like the industry/machines being a good thing was just to tie that in rather than genuinely expressing their good sides. Great video, bad ending
C-A-P-I-T-A-L-I-S-M
I totally understand having sponsors (gotta make a living in YT somehow) but that was terrible timing and probably not the best product to plug lol
yeah, not the best video to have an embedded add :(
How do we know it's not a test?
Demon Days was the first album that I really paid attention to, this is truly a masterpiece
It’s Demon Days, with an S not a Z.
@@funkybunko Yeah, Demon Dayz was a festival they held a couple years ago
Demon days is probably my favorite song off that album, it’s just so powerful
an album about war, consumerism, environmentalism...the lot really, quality album.
Tuxedo Gremlin you’re fun at parties aren’t you?
And then this song was used to sell iPods.
DrumWild bruh
Ironic
and headphones :^)
Ah The Irony In This 🤣
They're so good that even though they fight against the mainstream, they can't stay out of it fully
Fun fact: The dude behind Gorillaz had about 10 or so minutes to write that chorus before recording it. You can see all about it in the documentary BANANAZ
Damon Albarn is a genius
Blur is one of the best bands of the 90s thanks to that “dude behind Gorillaz “
Herve B these youngsters eh?
@@HerveBoisde it still blows my mind that this one homie already from an amazing band thought "hey, what if i made up a band and continue to release my solo works then" Then Gorillaz came to be
Where in Bananaz?
If you look into the description you might see that the song is licensed by Sony Music. One of the industry's biggest names. So even though a very well thought message is behind all this, Gorillaz weren't finally able to free themselves from the 'Feel Good Inc.'
@Evan Snyder Every Gorillaz album is on Parlophone.
"In September 2012 following the acquisition of EMI Group Ltd.'s US and Asian interests by Universal Music Group, Parlophone and the former EMI Records Ltd. were merged as the Parlophone Label Group (PLG Holdco Ltd.) and spun off to be sold.
They were sold to Warner Music Group in March 2013.
The Parlophone label is now owned by Parlophone Records Limited, the re-named EMI Records Ltd., itself a subsidiary of Warner Music International."
Yeah.
you're right, how could you expect to make waves by using the system lol
Wisecrack made a video about Rick&Morty's Wafer episode that complements this very well.
I think its impossible to run from the system. Even tho they are virtual they still do concerts, even tho they protest against the Inc. in the music, you still have to sell your kidney to go there.
The world is how it is. Dont like it? Its just $50 to protest.
Well yeah, how else were they supposed to release the fucking album???
remember that capitalism and the manufactury and consumerism models where descriptive models not prescriptive. that is normal human interaction and proces created this and then where descrive by politicians and economist. also the model are broad in their descriving power. so a for example a small music group not reconice by big companies becomes sucessful would not be seen as an edictment of the system but as a story of how the system works. same as a socialist writing book condemning the system and that book sellling and making a lot of profit.
The sad thing is that whenever a new form of self expression starts to resonate with an audience, it is quickly adopted, proliferated, consumed, and reproduced until it is fully incorporated into the cultural whole. Every new innovative escape eventually just makes the industry greater.
PainCausingSamurai basically what happened to Billie Eilish
She expressed herself in new emotion but the industry took advantage of that
Hope this doesn’t happen to beatbox...
Mojo Jo Jo Piz tell me new info.
PainCausingSamurai fell good inc Tells us that we should remove the retrants not the Company.
The way they sing "feel good" makes it feel like a demand, an order, a _threat_
i cant believe when people say this song is too played out...this song is timeless, it never gets old. theres something about it that just sounds so particularly amazing and unique and the meaning behind it only adds to that.
I use it as my alarm on my phone!!!
It really is a pop classic.
Actually the song is in essence pure pop. Unfortunately it is something you can only see with time, since a pure pop will always be popular
Most people Ive met their dad played it for them when they were a kid, i have that vague memory too, so yea, a part of a lot of peoples childhoods
I feel like I have been living under a rock😭 missing this masterpiece
Been looking forward to this one! Had no idea it was a digital Jerusalem. There is so much to this I didn't realise. I need to listen to the rest of Gorillaz' back catalogue with a keener ear
Medlife Crisis yes! They have so much messages in their music! This is why they are my favorite band! Each album has a deeper meaning!
medlife crisis is a gorillaz stan we love to see it
Demon Days and Plastic Beach are amazing. The lyrical themes and concepts of those two albums unfold as entire storylines that reveal deeper and deeper levels on repeated listening.
@Medlife Crisis Didn't expect to see you here, neat!
Oh wow. I stumble upon my favorite medical communicator in the least expected locations. Nice to see you.
The song's title "Feel Good Inc." is representative of how the song is named "Feel Good Inc."

I wonder if that means something deeper.

When I was younger I awkward thought he was saying “Santa’s breaking down on a camels back”
Chandler Kelley glad I’m not the only one 🤣
@@LaLa-oj5ct City's not Santa's.
@@kayakat1869 I hear it now.
That's a pretty rad lyric though. Maybe a song about Christian missionaries interacting with some desert dwelling African's or something. Don't act or feel like music and consumerism are really ever going to actually be at odds. You can write original songs whenever you choose to take that step. Most metal songs are more about the fast energy of the guitar than lyrics so with that and just maybe like a few more lines similar to “Santa’s breaking down on a camels back” like "not crying enough tears to bring rain to the desert sands"... That isn't metal enough... NOT ENOUGH TEARRRZZZ NOOO RAAAAIIIINNNN. There we go. You can start with "Santa’s breaking down on a camels back" then devolve into shouting during all the guitar shredding... And that is how music is written, kids!
I thought he said "it is sinking falling down."
The entire Demon Days album has a dystopian aesthetic. It’s what’s so brilliant about the album, the songs coupled with the titles make it purposefully dystopian. A brilliant effort. The last 3 songs exemplify that, Feel Good Inc. was the perfect single.
Demon Dayz and Plastic Beach are two of the greatest albums in the modern time.
Brandon Dollar couldn’t agree more. Thanks for bringing up Plastic Beach
I like Gorillaz but man thats a fuckin stretch lol
Good to see plastic beach getting some love
@@gungholio3416 Why is it that when someone says Gorillaz are great, someone else respond to that comment by basically saying: I like gorillaz but they are shit. Do you like them or do you think they are shit. You probably don't like them, you only say so that people don't argue with you.
@@fliown5413 i think its because some people only like part of Gorillaz discography or just doesn't think they have the best modern albums. Personally, I wouldn't say Gorillaz is the best band in history, but i'd still go out of my way to listen to any new music they put out.
I would love a billy joel video about how he used other musicians styles in his own work
Ryan Stoerger YES!!! Like how Frankie Valli and the four seasons inspired ‘Uptown Girl’ or how Jimi Hendrix inspired “Shameless” amongst many others. Is it that obvious that I’m a Long Islander?
I would definitely love to see this
I agree!
oh the irony of selling out
Actually getting paid from churning out content is not selling out. Selling out would be serving empty content, and then shoving ads down our throat
I love you man, you were my childhood!!!
Authenticity doens't pay the bills or feed a fam, thats one of capitalism problems, you participate or die
Hey I used to watch your videos. Hope you're doing good 👍
Damon Albarn deserves to be mentioned here. He's the genius behind Gorillaz (also, Blur and The Good, The Bad and The Queen).
And he was super hot in the 90s and is still a DILF.
Wait what Damon Albarn was in Queen?
Exactly. Blur was on Sony, and they couldn't do another project because of contractual "issues." Therefore, Damon used "cartoons" so they couldn't say anything. Brilliant, don't ya think???
Demon Days is a masterpiece that doesn't get the credit it deserves
What do you mean ? This pretty popular even in Indonesia back then
It does get a lot of attention and has been a hit ever since it came out lol
Its the most popular album Gorillaz ever made with some of the best some of the best singles they ever made.
I like this a lot

Demon Days is an amazing album. While most people know Feel Good Inc., the real meat of the album arrives in the last three tracks, Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey's Head, Don't Get Lost In Heaven, and of course, Demon Days.
The conclusion exemplifies how we're all drugged up and plugged in. However, the albums ends with a sense of hope by stating:
_Pick yourself up it's a brand new day so turn yourself round_
_Don't burn yourself, turn yourself, turn yourself around into the sun_
BTW they're amazing live. :)

I think the post-apocalyptic vissions put on King Gizzard's Infest the rats nest would make for a great polyphonic video

honestly when i make new friends i always ask if they know gorillaz, and they 80% of the time say no.
their songs should still be on the radio tbh. they're just as amazing and nostalgic, maybe even more, as the other wacky early 2000's music they play on occasion.
"Dark Satanic Mills" is now my favorite synonym for factories
This song has been on my mind a lot lately, just did a deep dive into Gorillaz a few months ago and the unique idea/style they represent is really amazing

A critical piece of information was missed out in this video, and that is that the man behind Gorillaz was arguably one of the most famous popstars of the 90's in the UK; he was a true product of the "Britpop" machine that pumped out pop music right into the new millennium. It's a key piece of information that adds a lot of credibility to the messages and themes of lots of Gorillaz' music.
“To every man is given the key to the gates of heaven. The same key opens the gates of hell. And so it is with science.”

just the fact that Inc is in the title already tells enough about what this song is about
A cool video idea could be on "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits and the downfall of MTV.
👍
One of my Favorite songs of all time! One that I will never get tired listening to.
Thanks for the great video!
The way 2D says “Feel Good” makes me feel like he’s trying to make himself feel good through all the hard times and trying not to express his inside emotions. Also he sounds Teary-eyed while saying it, like he’s sad but doesn’t want anyone to know.
I had the honor of meeting De La Soul's Plug 3 DJ Maseo in his new home studio last week.
Such an honor to meet a musical hero that's still producing fresh concepts over 30 years later with his same band mates.
One of the most prolific and underrated music groups all time.
Just like every other video on this channel; Mind blown
I had no idea the levels of this stuff. Excellent work, as always.
I’ve always loved this song, and I really appreciated this breakdown. It gave me a new level of understanding, and I am all about that. Thank you!!
While the end ad was delivered seemingly without a sense of irony, I think that was the point.

AWESOME JOB Polyphonic !!!, I NEVER had ANY idea there was SO much behind this song,
great interpretations and THANKS for opening my eyes.
Thank you for conveying what I wrote a 10 page college paper on in a short video. I live this song and remember watching the video every morning on MTV
That there's still videos about this song ten years later only shows what a masterpiece it is:)
It’s been closer to 20 years since this song came out than 10, lol.
I thought it was about how the gorillaz have trapped themselves in feel good inc which represents smoking, drugs etc. And noodle was the only one out because she was a kid and had some innocence to her.
Great job once again. Thank you and keep up the good work. I always look forward to your videos.

This is one of the greatest and most complex UA-cam videos I’ve ever seen and I can clearly tell this man our everything he had into this video and you could tell he was proud of it I give this a 10/10 keep it up man!
All forms of art have always been about expressing ideas and I feel like music is the biggest art form that is about expressing yourself. Lyrics are written out of ideas from someone who wants to share something with others and the music to compliment that invokes an emotional response to the lyrics themselves. Music has always been about sharing who you are, your story, your feelings, and your love. It is devastating that the industry sees it at, "They had their 'hit song,' moving on to the next person." I'm afraid there is little hope for the future of music, it may soon become a corrupt industry, all about money. Perhaps we can continue to use songs like these to show the world what music is truly about. Rock on fellas...
How DARE you make a video on one of my fave bands and songs?!?!

Jackson C. Frank and his song Blues Run the Game have a great story, guy has one album, produced by Paul Simon, who went on to cover the song as part of S&G. His album also influenced Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch and Nick Drake
