Yeaaah, the relationship between these two characters is very abusive and very complicated, especially if you bother to read up on the books, and the blogs, and the old radio programms. For those who are interested, Murdoc is a fucked uo character who was raised in a fucked up way and lived a pretty fucked up life, he basically never had a chance to be anything but what he turned out to be. Gorillaz is 100% the best thing that ever happened to him, and he himself confirmed it multiple times. 2D on the other hand is just a very simple and forgiving guy. I wouldn't say he's a complete pushover OR an angel incarnate (he's kinda wild too), but ultimately him and Murdoc have enough common ground for 2D to always somehow forgive him. I think if some screenwriter wanted to, they could make a very interesting piece of media even just using this very weird dynamic alone.

Like the house haunted by Gorillas and how it connected them to the recording label and their obligations. There was a floating plastic island that served as sort of a vacation spot that they claimed was "unfindable". Many many other things. Love this.
I feel there should be an ultimate fan gathering to create a show or film for Gorillaz and the potential adventures and whackiness they'd get in to. Like their upbringings, how they met Ace, what happened in between albums, even one off things that can be interpreted as canon or non canon but all have that same vibe
5:30 - don't ignore the fact that Ace was a former Powerpuff Girls nemesis
Bro you're like the 17th person to make this comment. I didn't mention it cause I didn't think it mattered enough
4:42 ARE YOU ALLOWED TO SHOW THAT???
LMAOOOO
I know I was about to comment on it
@@ZephsArt Sameee
What was it?
@@chumplump you can see murdocs umm lower part
I love the commentary, it feels like a friend is just talking about something they really like
This sounds like an acid trip mixed with fun vibey music.
great job putting this crazy hunk of story in an easy and short video that is also entertaining and fun to watch. my mind is blown
So basically Murdoc is the Zeus of the Gorillaz universe. Just responsible for everything.
omg THANK YOU 🙏 no matter how hard i try i cannot understand song machine
This video is what got me to look into Gorillaz after months of being curious, now I’m obsessed with them lol. Thanks for this video🔥
Look their music is great, but the lore is like they gave a bunch of 9 year olds crack and made them come up with something
When a video starts out with "mkay, so", you know it's gonna be a banger
You forgot to add that Ace is a member of the gangreen gang from power puff girls, officially placing Gorillaz in the puff universe, which also exists within Samurai Jack
Bro, you’re a hero for this 😩
Give this man some kind of award for being able of doing this video, wow
Thank u so much😭 I've loved gorillaz music and fanbase for a while but I never knew the lore until now :)
I’ve literally just gotten into Gorrilaz and wasn’t about to sit through hours of music videos I don’t even know the order to so this was very much needed thank you
i have only ever listened to two of their songs and yet i feel emotionally attached to these characters now
Thank you so much for this, I've seen a lot of videos explaining the lore for the earlier albums but this is the first video that included the now now and song machine!
0:09 yes stu IS an absolute hunk
He is lol
Bro you got straight to the point and actually just explained it, big props
Please! Please do something like this again. Phenomenal!
been a gorillaz fan for a few years or so so i kinda knew the lore, but you explained it so much easier than anyone else. and in such a short amount of time too. well done.
People: if you get hit by a car you won’t survive!
*2-D survives just with one eye knocked out*
For a small channel, I say you did a good job
Also the other bassist Ace is the guy from powerpuff girls 💀
Replacing Russel with a drum machine is so realistic is hurts
Russel not his muscles but percussion he provides
I really really enjoyed this. I was in rehab, funny enough for what seems to be around the time that Murdoc went to prison, I remember listening to majority of Humanz the morning before I had to be admitted. I’m 2 1/2 years clean now (I relapsed :/) BUT now I’m able to catch up on my lore with this and learned some things I didn’t know. Thank you! Would love an updated version once we figure out what Cracker Island is all about 🤗
How's a young pretty lady like you even get submitted? I'm a 30 year old man who's worked rebar/steel for 5/6 years and with ALL the painkillers and perc's hanging around the jobsite I can only assume you got the habit off of somebody else. I just pray it wasn't from your parents and rather peer pressure. It's like... If I had a cutie like you to talk to during my slaving days and giving 50% every week to taxes. I prob would of kept going and promoting manufacturing in our Province/state.
I suppose it's mens like me who's at fault. No wonder there weren't anyone else my age on jobsites. My generation already knows the system isn't made for them.
also that murdoc did a pact with the devil so he's band would be popular and thats why whe has a red nail and eye ;)
**btw man u explained everything so clearly wow
Dude thank you I always wanted to know but didn't want to put the effort into finding out. You sir are a scholar among cartoon bands.
thank you, i now fully understand the band. also this is genuinely amazing thank you!
What an amazing commentary dude. Well done! 👌🙏
So much lore but for whatever reason, Gorillaz still doesn't even have an animated series.
The lore of the Gorillaz sounds like one of my anxiety dreams.
"I know another green guy" bruh that's exactly what happened
If you space out on any part of the lore you'd think he's talking about something completely different
"So this guy wants to start a band...
Now he has the ghost of all his friends in his body but only...
So this FedEx shipping container has a small girl inside...
So the unknown horseman of the apocalypse named flatulence has summoned an army of pirates, crashed world war 2 planes, and a zombie whale on this island made of plastic."
