“Feel Good is a kind of a depressing song” wow that’s ironic

MURDOC. IS. A. BASS. PLAYER
Noodle is the guitarist
Calm down it was just a mistake he made jesus.
@@ieattrash6078 well it could confused many people. And I'm a guitarist so calling a bassist a guitarist pisses me off
@@TheOriginalFlamingEagle hmm.. Okie sorry then.
is bass not a type of guitar?
Keep in mind that according to the lore, Noodle wrote all of the songs in Demon Days.
LIIIIIIIIIT
Yeah xD murdoc stole them
The lore lol. Wasn't it Damon who wrote everything
Terry Profitt No dummy
Terry Profitt Yes, in reality Damon and company wrote all the songs. HOWEVER, within the fictional band members, it was Noodle who wrote the songs
Do you think that part of it is Noodle's age? Like is that why she's enjoying life not caught up in all this adult mess?
that is a valid point, however she is the smartest one in the group and would probably know not to fall for fgi (it just depends on whether its a metaphor or if its just representing the characters)
Nico Senpai That's actually pretty interesting! She has always been the happiest, most joyful member in the band
That's what I was thinking
@@ataco1770 That's true! She usually is the happiest now that I think about it!

And when he said that the lyrics change a little in live versions without mentioning it’s because Damon just wants to show that he isn’t lip syncing
@@domm6157 lmao I know how you feel becuase it's wrong. Noodle wrote all the lyrics, so 2d is completely fine.
He called Murdoc a guitar player 🤬
just that murdoc is playing a bass guitar, not a electric guitar(sorry to be that guy)
Also noodle isn’t “maybe playing the ukulele” it’s a normal guitar
Thanks for being that guy for me.
I would have if you hadn’t

Thank you
So sorry about getting Jamie Hewlett's name wrong--also thanks for mentioning the bass guitar at all. I definitely talk faster than I think sometimes. :)

Man, you should pin this comment so people stop telling you, it must be annoying
Also, Noodle plays an acoustic guitar in this, not a ukulele :)

Murdoc plays the bass not the guitar
That’s Noodle
I’m saying because Murdoc is known as a ‘bass’ player not guitar
It’s pretty much like saying someone plays the Piano but someone else said they play a keyboard
I couldn’t care less I just thought I’d point it out before a die hard Gorillaz fan gets all offended
Bradypug Boy the ukulele is also a type of guitar. So is the sitar. You wouldn’t call someone playing that a guitarist.
Does it really matter that much? I think it's obvious that he's playing bass by the number of strings and their thickness

502 [C.H]
Lol, I think you need a bit of catching up. They explained more recently that he still has his eyes, they’re just filled with blood. I can’t remember the exact name of it, it’s like 8-ball fracture or something. Anyway, still has them, and they they glow white when he’s scared..... or away from Murdoc as seen in Now Now? Honestly not a fan of how they keep changing the reasonings and such, but I can’t blame them for trying to keep things interesting

SCHWEEET!
It's actually called a troop
Good analysis, though imo noodle doesn’t necessarily seem “happy” . My perception of that scene makes her seem really lonely and that she kind of wishes she could be in feel good inc with the others. probably because I believe she was still a child in this phase (or portrayed as such at least) and there is that longing to want to do what older people do and when you get to do those things only then do you realize how much freedom you had in your youth. Both noodle and 2-D see the grass as greener on the other side of the fence.
Deep af man
All this time I always thought that the lyrics said, " windmill, windmill for the land turn forever hand in hand take it all in on your stride it is ticking, falling down *love forever, love is free let's turn forever you and me.*" I swear that's what I still here when I play the song.
Yeah same
It actually does say that.im not sure why he chose a bad source of lyrics
I thought it said "let's talk forever, you and me."
Those are the lyrics
3:50 This is only because Damon Albarn doesn’t want people to think he’s lip-syncing, not for any other reason
He only does it on certain songs though, and certain things like changing melancholy town to Melancholy Hill surely have to mean something no? Besides it's not like his live singing sounds much like the original anyway
I've read he did this because he forgets the lyrics so he improvises
Itsabout corporations manufacturing good feelings, and we become accustomed to their false happiness and are unable to find out own. And any time someone tries to tell everyone that its bad, they gon bite the dust cant fight with them
I thought the lyrics were "love forever love is free, let's turn forever you and me"

Could you do Clint Eastwood next?
Clit weststone
That would be cool! Clint Eastwood is mainly Russell's friend talking about how he's helping him with drumming and stuff but I'd like to hear more about the chorus!
@Xisckeril what is so funny?
Rhythm, you have it or your don't, that's a fallacy
I’m in them every sprouting tree every
since the now now it’s actually phase 5 :))
Oh, boy
But the Now Now isn't a new phase, new phases only come after a hiatus, it'll probably be around 2023 when the next studio album comes out, bringing phase five
No, The Now Now is a new phase. It's been confirmed.
@@nekelaznup4644 Nope a new phase comes every few years, with the release of a new studio album, for example phase one first came with the release of Gorillaz, and ended after G-sides and Laika Come Home in 2002, three years later, Demon Days was released and ended after D-sides in 2006, four years later Plastic Beach was released, and the phase ended after The Fall, which came out in 2011, Then Humanz was released in 2017, and as of now the phase isn't over.
Phase one 2000-2002
Phase two 2005-2006
Phase three 2010-2011
Phase four 2017-????
Denholm Hewlett has literally confirmed The Now Now of being Phase 5 though.
It's been confirmed by one of the co-creators sons, who has been on the whole Humanz tour recording material for the new documentary.
Jamie Hewlett not Jessie Hewlett
I was about to say the same thing.
Russel is my favorite (followed by Mudz). Russel deserves more attention/appreciation tbh.

I really dug this video and take on the song. I took "Feel Good Inc" as a representation of the internal conflict of an artist. Trying to find balance(/or deciding) between creating to create and creating to achieve fame in the industry. 2D being an artist that got to the highest possible level only to realize its not as great as he thought. Murdoch of course loves it & Noodle represents the artist that didnt want fame & fortune.
Nailed it!!! Thank you for this video! As I said in another post about this song...most songs are done and a video is made about the song. This feels like the video was made and the song came after
Did anyone else check the video date to see if that harambe joke was valid?

Whenever the refrain comes on I'm just super in peace. Love it so much. Feels like floating away on that beautiful little windmill island with Noodle.
"Murdoc is playing the guitar-"
*shows a shot of Murdoc playing his bass*
Saw this a few days ago
I now have a new found and deeper respect for the Gorillaz
For years I never wonder about the lyrics, the rhythm was just catchy
Now I can appreciate the lyrics, the animation, the background art, and all the effort in the details we don't see
Gorillaz is a crap ton of love passion and effort with depression and realism tossed in
And that's why the songs are practically future proff
Years later the details in the art remain and the words still ring true
So of course you're still watching in fill in year
Because the Gorillaz are *Fucking Awesome*
Thank you so much! That video of yours was very helpful for me when preparing my own video on translation of the song lyrics to Russian. Good luck!
Great vid man, love it

(Hey, could you do a Greek Fire video next? thanks!)
Hello. Ive been watching your videos probably since april when tøp theories were at an all time high. Your videos are so awesome, and you theories are so well put together. Thank you
Thank you for watching! :)
Love the video! I have been a deep diving Gorillaz fan for a long time but had never looked at that video from that perspective. I was too caught up in the fact that Noodle and the floating island are gunned down right afterwards
THANKS
You can see the noodle and the windmill screen in many ways
The first one what you said
I see it also In a way of
That it could represent adulthood and also addiction
Noodle may not have the same power or stability as the adults do but she’s more free and as high as the tower of feel good inc
She isn’t trapped as 2D is
But of course my way of understanding is only from the visuals because my English is a bit too slow to keep up with them
Thank you for teaching me more about the music ^^
I can’t believe it. I’ve listened to that song hundreds of times. I’m legitimately ashamed for missing so much.
This is beautiful. Thank you
Can you make a video about the new bring me the horizon song mantra I think it maybe be about song loosing meaning and changing on to a chant
Please do more gorillaz (specifically demon days cuz it's my fave) ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, that's actually really cool! I've always thought of feel good in as a commentary on enviormental change and how it's impossible to escape it. All the adults are stuck in a stupor, not really caring about there situation and 2-d seems to be the only one who seems to care, all while the only truly happy, or at least oblivious, character is noodle, who is used to represent the state of being a child, not quite aware of how much trouble there in but still enjoying life and having hope for the future. Again, this is just my interpretation after hearing that the entirety of demon dayz was writers became more aware of how bad of a state things were in, but this makes a lot of sense too seeing as how gorillaz as a whole is about commenting on popular music and it's industry. Great work on the video!
I think the message of the song is that we're so wrapped up with entertainment (feeling good) that we forget what really matters in our lives.
Is it just me that here's him say tickling when he reads the lyrics "it is ticking" 4:22
I heard that too
murdoc is definitely my favorite because of his dirty mind HAHAHH

Gorillaz , best band since 2001
Since 1998*
Great, interesting video. Could you do some more Gorillaz lyrics in-sight videos? I use to think the lyrics were just nonsensical and I was just left enjoying the music.
I really like your break down and it all makes sense, but is this just your theory on the song or does Gorillaz agree? I am not saying I think your wrong but I would really like to know cause sometimes we think lyrics mean one thing when they actually mean something different to the writer. I say this as a writer, not of music but of stories and some people don't get what I am trying to say in some of my stories cause I use a lot of symbolism.
*Jamie Hewlett
Whenever he says murdoc playsa guitar i get triggered
In the music video the tower was once white, and down in the city it likely is kept that way, but from the top we can see that 2D is looking out of a dingy and tarnished portion of the once ivory tower
yay, i saw gorillaz last month!! thanks for this!

My favorite band member is Noodle. I love this song, but even when I first listened it when I was a kid (and I didn't know english at the time) the rap part was so creepy to me. Thanks for another cool video!
The weird thing is when I first listened to the song I caught onto it quick and its meaning what's clear to me. I don't know if that's good or not but I must have a good ear for music. Great video by the way
John Slade same for me
It’s actually Jaimie Hewlett
I hate gorillaz now thanks
No u don't
Why?
We packed up all your posters and merch in this box farewell
Love, The Gorillaz fandom
I think Noodles floating on a windmill and being seperate stands for her being young and carefree she is not yet involved in corruption of the World and can still do whatever she wants and be free. The others feel seperate from her because they have lost that youth and innocence and have to face the problems life throws at them
I love how they give subtle hints on how it’s depressing like how they say melancholy
You got a lot of things wrong
I’m hooked on this channel now
I will never hear this song the same again holy cow.
I'm just like a passive Gorillaz fan but I may look into the story and all more after this.
My fave Gorillaz character is Noodle because I like how she's drawn, to me she looks innocent and dangerous at the same time. A guy from high school used to call me Noodle (And he was Murdaugh) but I don't know about her, I'll have to check out that video about the story of the characters to see who she is and why the comparison.
You rock, very cool and informative and YES, I do love The Gorillaz.
If you take the time to see the full back story the song has both a literal meaning and a deep meaning
