    Okay so much to talk about here! First, let me just thank you so much for all the details!!!!!I will be doing a deep dive into all of your videos because I NEED YOU HAIR hahaha. I have hair about your length but I never straighten it. I thought I couldn't because of breakage. You have demystified this for me 💕 I usually wear it in Dutch braids for a couple of days after washing with leave-in conditioner (but I am finding it is taking longer and longer to dry and that brings so many problems) The condition of my hair is getting worse and worse these days, even though I don't use any heat. I really need to either change up my program or cut it shoulder length because I am overwhelmed and feel like my hair is getting less healthy than it was when it was shorter and easier for me to manage. But I love having long hair. 😩 Your hair shows me I have more options and exactly how to do it. I am super lazy, but I think I want to try a few weeks of your hair program and see if it works for me. Wish me luck!

      Thank you sooo much. I am glad you are enjoying the video. Lots of tips and tricks hidden throughout. Check out the videos I did this week on being a straight hair natural . Before I went natural, my hair was kind of long but I hated the feel of it and there was soo much damage. If you wanna cut I'd say just go slow, like 2 inches at a time. I love using heat. I was always nervous about heat damage too. I'm super lazy, and I work and I am a mom, and I live in Canada so keeping my hair stretched or straightened is just easier for me to manage. Quick brush and comb and I'm done. Versus trying to refresh a wash n go that'll take me.over 30 minutes and all that manipulation isn't good for my hair. I love Dutch braids. One of my favorite styles. Start slow with straightening. A good iron and products and see how u feel and how u can manage it and then how your hair reverts after washing. If everything feels good give it a try again and still do your braids in between as rest time for your strands. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I'm here to help. I'm learning that its okay to enjoy our hair without fear.

      @@shanikacorb thanks so much for the encouragement! I want to try this out before a radical cut (so many years of growing it out are worth trying one last thing) We will see what condition my hair is in when straightened, but I am probably in for a shock. (It's now waist length almost, but there is certainly damage.) The wash and go doesn't work for me, and the braiding and drying is not working either. Those styles got me here to this length but they aren't cutting it for retention 😂 I will get all the products and keep you posted. You are a star! I have subscribed 💕🎉

    Once a week! Wow I thought you’d say once a month!! What parts of the process do you think make it less damaging to straighten more often? I just started wearing my hair straight and I’m nervous to redo it more than once a month (but I’d like to, if I can make sure it’s not too damaging)

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому +7

      I am a hot head, I sweat like crazy so if I left my hair for a month I would smell like a dump. Lol. Once a week seems to be working well. I find that making sure the hair is thoroughly cleansed but never stripped and using a great conditioner helps alot. If I make sure my hair is hydrated but not damp I can do 2 passes with the straightener. And having my hair blow dried to a stretched out state is a must. I try to focus on making sure the prep is perfected so I can glide through the straightening process. When I first started out, it all seemed like such a hassle so I never wanted to redo it weekly. I can stretch it to 2 weeks if I make sure to wrap it nightly.

      Hello. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yup, the serums I use are:
      -Cantu super shine hair silk
      -Luster's pink glosser
      -L'Oreal extraordinary oil
      -Proclaim argan oil spray oil treatment.
      I use them all after straightening my hair. Usually on day 2 or 3 up until I'm ready to wash it again. And I will definitely show what my summer hair care is like. It's very different from fall and winter. ❤

      Heyy. Thank you soo much. Lots of years in the making. I have have using the cantu for about 8 years. Before that I was using the old school Lusters pink lotion. I have seen the most healthy hair growth by staying consistent with washing (once a week to keep the scalp feeling good), deep conditioning with every wash, lots of braids, buns, and ponytails. I absolutely love wearing my hair straight so I never wanted to cut out heat. I should make a video on my hair growth tips.

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I know sometimes the blunt ends look a bit boring and harsh. But for me it's easier to trim my hair that way and I can maintain a blunt look. Lol. I try to trim my ends about every 3 months or so. When I'm ready to take off more than 3 inches I'll go to a professional just to make sure it's atleast even looking.

    Beautiful. I wondered how this can be done if your transitioning from relaxed to natural. are the results long-lasting? I have a babyliss pro i think its a one inch.

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому

      Hello thank you. Absolutely give it a try on your transitioning hair. For a long time while I was transitioning I would just do one pass with the straightener really slowly so I could get the hair straight without compromising the relaxed ends cause they were soo fragile. I have been using the babyliss for a long time and it doesn't snag on my hair either which is helpful for getting a good smooth glide. The results will last. As long as the hair is clean and not weighed down with too much product and no excess moisture to avoid steam, you will be good. I'll do a mini video on how I maintained the hair when it was relaxed when the roots would start to revert

      Heyy Girl. My straightener goes to 450 Fahrenheit and has settings that go up to 50 and I do it on 45 so I think the temperature I use is about 405 Fahrenheit. I never use the highest setting. 45 is great and just 2 passes gives me the result I like. I hate hearing the straightener sizzle. Lol.

    Hi, please i wish to ask if straightening your hair has helped you retain length?

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому +7

      Hello. yessss. I do plan on making a video about this exact topic. I personally do believe wearing my hair straight rather than in its natural form has helped me retain length. because when it's straight I'm able to take my time brushing it and combing it and I don't have to put any extra tension in my hair. I can wear it out, I can put it up in loose buns or ponytails and avoid those tight protective hairstyles that pull on the roots and scalp. When I do wear my hair straight which is mostly in the winter seasons I wash it and straighten it once a week and I only do two passes. Compared to when I was younger I used to put the straightener in my hair every single day and it was getting fried like bacon. My goal is to show women that they can enjoy their hair anyway they want to and not to feel ashamed if they do prefer to wear their hair straight. you can have healthy hair and use Heat at the same time. Let me know if you have any questions or anything I can put in a video to help you along your journey
