Your hair is sooo gorgeous 😍😍
Thank you soo much. It's alot shorter now but still managing fine. 😊
I want some to try
They were really good. A nice sample size.
Your hair looks SO healthy!
Thank you. A balance between straightening and just doing very little with my hair has been crucial. ❤️ I was in need for a good a juicy protective style that was fast and low tension.
Great ideas for wash day! I'm intrigued by the glycerin. I'll give it a try next wash day. Thanks for sharing. 🤗❤
Long long long ago I saw someone use vegetable Glycerin in their hair and they had good things to say. It's an interesting ingredient in alot of skin care and hair care products. It's a humectant , so it pulls in alot of moisture especially from the hair. And freshly washed and moisture hair is a great time to apply to help seal in the goodness. And just small amount is needed for the sections. It also has an interesting sweet taste. But don't eat it. Lol
Did you go under the hooded dryer after twisting your hair or you air dry?
@@suzanarehema8503 I air dried. I blow dried till my hair was about 90 percent dry. Adding the cantu and Glycerin gives the hair a wet feeling but it's temporary. It was fully dry within 2 hours. I finished my hair around 3pm and kept it covered in my satin scarf for the rest of the evening. I have done twists on wet hair that wasn't blow dried and it takes all night to dry so a hooded dryer is great to use. I try to avoid going to bed with wet or damp hair so I start my hair early I the daytime. ❤️
I’ve tried 2 Pattern products (their leave-in and edge control - both in the yellow bottle) and my hair didn’t like either one. Also the smell was way too strong for me. My hair also doesn’t like their brush, but I know loadssss of people like Pattern! Just not the brand for me. The packaging is pretty though.
I'm glad I tried it but at the same time it felt like a waste of my gift card. Lol. I'm with you. My hair didn't love it. The packaging is very cool and nice. I think there is just a few ingredients missing. ❤️
@@shanikacorbI agree!!
nonsense😂
I flat ironed mine straight after spraying the heat prot3ctant and boi was it sizzling. It looked great but the smeeeeell. To get rid of the smell i put leave in conditioner and it all shrunk back to normal haha. At least i know its bot damaged
That was something I did when I first started using the heat protectant spray and it never occurred to me till after what was actually happening. It's why I make sure to do a very heavy even coat before I blow dry so the hair has a chance to absorb it and the excess moisture on the outer strands has vanishes do there is less sizzle, steam and pop. It took me a long time to figure out how it resulted in the burnt smell. But now we know. ❤️

Your hair grows soooo fast! 🤩
Thank you. The year from the big chop went by soo fast. Still aiming to get back to waist length for 2025
@ you will do it, I’m very sure!
I had a feeling I would only leave with 1 item. 😅
Oh yes I have experienced that unpleasant burnt smell even after u have just washed and conditioned my hair, and wondered why. I just washed and conditioned my hair and that’s why I searched in hopes of it not happening this time. Stumbled on your video and it was very informative. Thank you
I'm sooo glad you found me. It's am issue that still happens to me once in a while. Hair requires such a delicate balance while styling. I'm thinking of making a follow up to this video cause it's such a popular issue. 🤗
I'm always excited about trying new skincare. Thanks for sharing!
@@carmelacristoforo262 thank you. I have been using these as my staples for over a year. I'm looking forward to finding more skin care goodies. ❤️
I love trying new products especially when they are highly recommended. 😊 @@shanikacorb
I think u need a stiffer curler. Towards the end of ur twist, ur twisting the fabric around ur hair, not ur hair around the fabric. Ur hair came out straight bc ur just holding ur hair straight and wrapping the fabric around ur hair lol. I’ve done that before. So annoying.
Woops. It felt weird while doing it. You are very right. Lol. The joys of learning new techniques. 🤗❤️
@ yes girl ur hair too thick for that lil fabric. 😂 ur hair became the curler towards the bottom. 😂😂
@mrod87 so sad. I have no luck with these styles.
Honestly, using heat again weekly has helped my hair so much. Last year, I had to cut my hair a few times in 2024 to recover from air drying and doing wash and goes. Tight hairstyles have been causing my damage, too. Do you know what hairstyles to do that are not tight?
Heat can be a true saving if used strategically. I'm sorry you had that happen. Me and wash n go's don't agree. I try every year and it never ends well. Some of my fave styles to do with stretched out hair are 2 to 4 Dutch braids, French braids, a halo crown braid ( all can be turned into braids outs). I love half up half down styles as well with a scrunchy. The scrunch is cute when hai r has extra volume. Gives a youthful vintage vibe. I do like slick styles. But the slicker the hair, the more likely you will have to pull and tug and use waxes, gels, Pomade, mousses to get the hold. And at the end of the day I hate crunch hair.
@shanikacorb Thanks. I will try out some of those hairstyles. I need to try to stay away from the gels and waxes but it is so hard.
This method I used for I started beginning how I use ,now I don’t use this technique often now the ends will more damage. Usually I clamp the root slide down to middle and curl until the end.this way more safety ways gives nice curls. This method only shaping the hair more like a blowout look.
It’s good to have a few techniques up your sleeve and finding what works best for your hair. Yes the way I as doing does give a blowout look when finished, so I will need to do some more experimenting. ❤️
@@shanikacorb if you achieve longer lasting curling iron curls just did I recommend I use the technique.
I will definitely give it a try. Thank you.
I LOVE loreal shampoo and conditioners but never tried their masks as I'm obsessed with the dove bond repair serum hair mask. But if I can recommend a traditional conditioner that feels like a hair mask is the ever pure glycolic acid laminating conditioner
Thank you for the recommendation! I'm always looking for new products to try. Is that the one in the pink packaging? Glycolic seems to be working miracles for people's hair. Thank you sooo much.
@shanikacorb you're welcome. The US version (New ever pure line for the states) of the glycolic acid glossing lamination line is in silver bottles (same style as the L'Oréal Ever Pure bond bottles) with a pink cap. I got my first line on Amazon, but they finally put it in stores and bought a backup of the entire line before they sell out, lol The dove mask is great
@melaniephillips8556 oooh I see. I thought I had heard of the name before. I like it. I will definitely look it up on Amazon. I know for sure it is never on the shelves in store. Usually anything good that comes to Walmart gets sold super fast. The Loreal masks were soo fun to try out. ☺️
@shanikacorb ik the last time I looked the shampoo is on prime but the conditioner and mask aren't but they don't take long to arrive. I could never find the pink bottle one from Elvive but this one is the same just the US version. I must've gotten into cvs as they stocked the shelves so I bought 2 of each the shampoo conditioner and masks. I already had 1 of the shampoo and mask and 2 conditioners but I got them befit they were gone lol
Between all my hair care lines and how many of each I prob have enough to wash condition and deep mask my hair for 2-3 years 🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Listen, you probably shouldn't do that in pots that you vook food in. Even if you wash afterward. It's just nasty.
I agree. It definitely is a bit gross. The last batch of water from the scrunchies is cause I color my hair and I use oils. The hair oils pull the color out and make it run. I have quite alot of things to clean. Perhaps I'll fill a bathtub and wash all the tools in that. ☺️ Happy New Year
Looking beautiful and same for your hair 😃
Thank you. ❤️. Been trying to give the skin and hair some much needed love and care.
Your hair has grown SO WELL! Gorgeous!
Awwww thank you! I am so happy about the growth!
Your hair is so thick and luscious! Nice blunt ends, too! The care you put into your hair shows.
Aweee. Thank you soo much. I really do appreciate it. Sometimes I'm not as gentle as I should be but keeping things simple helps me stay super consistent. 😊
Oh honey, you are not alone! I was recently sick and was not tending to my hair the way I normally would. I jumped into wash day without thoroughly detangling my dry hair (big mistake), and when I went to wash it, it immediately matted at the roots (more so in the back 2 quadrants of my hair). I felt the same emotions - anger, frustration, raised blood pressure, and the urge to cut my hair at the roots. After the longest detangling session imaginable, I had a couple of handfuls of shed/broken hair. I plan to get a good trim soon so that I can "reset" and hopefully this won't be a major setback!
It's amazing how we can all have such similar experiences and think we're the only ones! Ever since then, I make sure not to start the washday process unless I have the energy for it mentally and have all the supplies I need. Healthy Hair is sometimes about the courtesy and respect we give to our strands. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@shanikacorbAbsolutely! Wishing you the best!
@BrittanyDanielle you as well. ☺️
Shanika, you did a beautiful job on your hair and with 360 degrees. Did you do any trims between your chop last year and this year? If so your ends look incredibly good. How often are you washing and straightening?
Thank you sooo much.❤️ From the time I did my big chop, I trimmed a total of 3 times. Second trim was a proper trim, took about 1 inch off and the first and third trim I did while my hair was in braids just to clean up the scraggly ends. The ends have been holding up nicely but lots of breakage at the nape. I gave been currently washing everything 10 to 14 days. I'm hoping to get back to the 7 to 10 day range. I haven't been straightening as much I normally do in the cooler months. Lots of Chunky braids and buns in the past few months.
@@shanikacorb Thank you so much for sharing! Happy Holidays and I wish you and your family peace, joy and blessings in 2025! ♥
@mjgarner123 I wish everyone all in the beautiful community the most loving and peaceful holiday.
Glad to see you back!
@@HairByPierre thanks girl. I'm happy to be back. The year knocked me over but I'm up. ❤️
Your always looks amazing! I think this straightener made your hair look smoother somehow. I have breakage in crown area from braiding my hair wet in box braids every wash day. I workout like a mad man and my hair needs to be somewhat flat for when I bench press. Do you have any tips to address this breakage? My hair is thick, 4a/4b/3c, low porosity, and just below armpit length.
Heyyy. Thank you. My gosh your hair is getting long tooo. That's amazing. The sweat from exercise does add a tricky element especially if the hair is already wet. If you aren't able to blow dry before braiding could you try blow drying the braids after your workouts. The sweat I think sometimes makes for hair a bit more susceptible to breakage comparent to just regular water moisture. Or perhaps adding in a Strengthening leave in conditioner or spray before you braid it up. The aphogee spray I have added is soo light but I do notice it gives the hair strands a bit more strength without making it feel brittle. When you are working out, do you wear ablny sweatbands or headscarves? Something to minimize the friction from when your head is against the benches. If possible could you do a silk or satin durag and then a ball cap on so you aren't slipping and sliding? My headphones that I use when I am on thr treadmill are big so I wear the Nike hats when running so the headphones don't slide around on my head. Or even placing a cotton t shirt into the bench when you are bench pressing to cut down on the rigid friction. Or a high bun instead of the braids and then a bandana wrapped around the head. But then we wouldn't want to run the risk of breakage around the neck. Let me think some more on this one. 🤔
@shanikacorb Thank you! It was mid back but the breakage in my crown was bothering me, so I cut my hair around the same to you did (I was inspired to chase healthy hair again) and have been doing big trims trying to improve it. That keratin and green tea spray is a great idea I will try. I do wear a soft durag tied over my head at the gym to save me from the bench and to keep my hair smooth, but I think I need to mix my hairstyles up as the breakage is predominantly In the areas I part and tug on a lot to get a smooth box braid. Thank you for all your help!
@CreoleKing1986 I am here to inspire as many as I possibly. Trim and chop when your heart tells you it's time. Cutting sometimes is exactly what's needed to give a journey a jump start. There needs to be a bench with a hole for the head to sit in. Similar to the massage tables. The aphogee spray is a great addition to try. I am not able to cornrow and the tightness is too tight for me but the 2 French braids are simple to do and take down when done the workout and of you keep the braids closer to the ears and face like a crown rather than going straight back to the neck, it could keep the back of the head flat enough for when on the bench. ❤️
Hi Shanika! Did I miss some of your videos? Congratulations on the move. Wow... your hair is growing so long after the big chop. How long has it been since you cut your hair? It looks so thick and healthy! 🤗So glad I stumbled on your video.
Heyyyy, thank you very much. I didn't make a moving video yet. Might make a separate channel for the lifestyle content. We are still settling in. It's officially been 1 year since the big chop. I did it mid December of 2023. Feels like yesterday. Lol. It's gotten very thick. Once I finish unpacking, I hope to be back making regular hair content. The New Year will be blessed. 🙏
Are you turn down the flat iron you put on 450f frist?which heat setting you trun down actually you put on? You should start low and go high see which best for you. I recommend you buy a new curling iron as well ,I wanna see you using curling iron curl your hair after you straighten.definitely making a video for curling iron style.
Heyy, I ended up turning it down to 360 and still do my usual 2 passes. 450 was tooo much for me especially since I like to keep a bit of texture still. I will be taking out the heat tools tonight. I just moved so alot of my tools are still I'm boxes. ❤️
@ you still can-using curling iron curl after you been straightened giving another look. Giving something different looks.
@kenleung7467 absolutely. I haven't been having good luck with heatless curls so I'll be trying actual heated tools again. 😊
@ definitely wait for see it you using make a new video about it.
Dear plz say that how time i stay my hair or i can use the mask after sampoo or conditioner plz reply plz😊
Heyyyy. You can use in your hair after shampoo. Leave in for atleast 5 to 10 minutes. I usually keep conditioner in my hair for 20 to 30 minutes . The longer you leave it on the better the hair can absorb it. ❤️
Love it!
@@tamaramolina4237 thank you. I made it work for the day. 😊

It's such an overlooked spot and it never occurred to me to make the connection until I started looking back on all out pictures. My child is constantly attached to my neck. It's a bittersweet feeling. Our hair grows soo strong and healthy when pregnant, sheds after pregnancy, abd then breaks off from hugs. Lol.

At least 5-6 inches
That's what I'm thinking too and I have trimmed about 3 times this year. 🙏

@@Afrodite96 thank you sooo much. It has been many years of simple habits. Aiming for waist length next year. HAPPY Holidays 😊
Why did you cut your hair, it was so long before??
Heyyy, I needed a style change. I had it growing out long for over 10 years. The hair was healthy, strong, ans beautiful, but sometimes the weight and maintenance can become a bit exhausting. No more big cuts and chops for me. Next year I will be growing it back out long again. GOAL IS TAILBONE BY END OF 2025. 🙏
How long have you been a straight hair natural?
I have been a straight hair natural for almost 15 years. I stopped using chemical relaxers around 2012 . And it's always just been easier to maintain the length but straightening. Less tangles and manipulation once the hair is done being styled.😊
thax beauty
Thanks for sharing this helpful! You have the most beautiful natural face! Not a lot of make up yet flawless skin👍🏽
You are so welcome! Thank you. Getting my skin clear has been a long journey. For my skin, I try to pay attention to what it may need each day rather than a specific regimen. Sometimes my skin just doesn't want anything on it.
Your hair looks lovely. It suits you well. 😃
You look lovely as well also..🙂
Thank you so much. It's been a process getting used to styling the new length. But I love it.
I experience a massive amount of ssks on my wash and gos. Every single time i looked at my ends i had an insane amount of knots. I started to consistently was my hair every single week and detangle really well then. I also started to remoisturize my ends and lightly detangle mid week and then seal the ends. This method almost completely got rid of the ssks and reduced my wash day down to about a 1 hr wash routine. I now have alot more length (my hair holds onto length now easily), a short and simple wash day and it takes no time at all to detangle it.
Omgg beauty I love it. That's amazing. You have come a really long way in your hair Journey. Your situation is a perfect example of how our physical hair methods and practices can really impact our hair, not just genetics. Preventing the hair from drying out toooo drastically is usuallt what ends up causing those kinds of knots with me. Now i see them on my ends once in a blue moon. Less tangles and a softer smoother cuticle has done miracles for my hair. And it makes wash days a breeze. Your hair is going to keep flourishing. I am very happy for you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Proclaim Argan Oil spray oil treatment. It's very similar to the spray oil that Pattern beauty has. Mine is from my local beauty supply store. It lasts forever. I still have that same bottle. ❤️
Omg you are soo beautiful! I got my hair straightened this past weekend and it's the first time I literally feel like I love my hair ❤❤
Thank you so much!! I'm sooo glad you are enjoying your hair. Just take your time and be extra safe with heat and will be fine each time you straighten. ❤️
Hi shanika How are you doing? I'm having trouble now in talking care of my hair. It's like one, I end up putting too much oil in my hair and it's thin and the shine of my hair is now dull.
What's the best hair product to use after I shower or wash my hair.
Heyyyy. I'm sorry to hear your hair has been giving issues again. Finding the perfect after wash product is tricky. Is your hair naturally thinner or thicker? Does it absorb products easily or slowly. For my hair I like a leave in that has a higher water level, adds moisture weight and shine. It's why I like the cantu. Great slip absorbs easily and doesn't weigh my hair down but keeps the frizz away. But my one neices hair can't handle the cantu. If your hair is feeling dull, give it a good clarifying wash to start fresh. Remove any old buildup. The ouai was amazing. I only had to apply once and my hair was extra squeaky clean. Then try a light leave in product when your hair is still super damp. Apply from top to bottom but a thin layer to see how well your hair handles it. Use a bottle with water to extra wet your hair and brush and detangle and then dry the way u normally do to see. There are times where I think the small amount of leave in I applied wasn't enough so I add more but really it just needs to be spread in the section of hair better. Are you blow drying or air drying after you wash?
Nice to see a new video! 👋🏽Your hair is so thick and healthy looking.,....I love it! Thanks for sharing. 😍
Thank you. It's been a blessing how well the thickness has remained. ❤️
