    Your hair is truly gorgeous!!! Your ends are perfectly cut. Please do a tutorial on this when you do your next trim. I thought I heard you say you wear your hair straight all of the time and in another video you denoted you straighten during the cold months and use less heat when it is warmer. Please clarify. Thanks for sharing your regimen.

      Hey girl. Thank you soo much. Im hoping to trim my hair within the next month. I'll definitely do a video on how I trim. It's not perfect but I try my best. Sometimes I'll get my mom to help me with the trim. Yes I prefer to wear my hair straight cause it's easier. The majority of the year it'll be straight. When it's summer time I will wear braids and braid outs and buns if I'm not working alot. Straightening in humidity is a mission.

    That was great wish we could really talk..😊 we're real close in texture and density... And I may have 3-4 inches on you.. Definitely below belly button but we're there..I do a lot of what you do and that's awesome . Great minds... You know the rest...I just recently started with waiting the day before flat ironing and I to have sleek results.. Only difference is that I use a filter on my shower cuz I love in Vegas, hard water capital and I use ayurveda herbs like Amla and henna and my hair is longer than it's ever been in my entire life at 49.. Lol though I henna my hair primarily to cover my greys,I also use for strengthening and filling in any damage cuticle layers and I love it and like you I deep condition weekly.. wish you would have showed your for braids prepping for next day heat but it's all good beautiful.. I've watched a couple of your videos and I finally decided to subscribe and leave a comment hope it helps your channel and that you thrive..thank you for your time and knowledge and I look forward to your next video😉😘

      Hey hey hey girl. Thanks for your support. My goal belly button hip length I think. But to be healthy first. I have wondered if a filter on my shower woukd help my hair and skin. I'm in Canada. Have you noticed the filter makes a huge difference? I've been interested in Henna. Do you do it to color your hair from grey to black? How long does it last for? If you have any video suggestions let me know. 🤗

    hellloo, your hair is soo thick and beautiful ! Do you just blowdry weekly or do you blowdry and traighten weekly ? does your hair start thinning with the amount of heat that you use ? also for how long have you been using heat regularly on your hair ? thank youu

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому +1

      Heyyy. Thank you very much. I wash my hair weekly and blow dry each time. Maybe once a month during the winter month I'll skip blow drying and put my hair in small braids. But I prefer to wear my hair straight. So I'll straighten 3 to 4 times a month. As the weather warms up I straighten less. But I hate walking around with wet hair. So I'll atleast blow dry. I have been using heat for as long as I can remember. Started straightening my hair around age 12. My edges aren't thin but they are definitely weaker then the rest of my hair so I try to be extra gentle. My hair was paper thin when I was perming. Going natural made it super strong.

      @@shanikacorb Woow okay thank you for the information. I'm stuck at below shoulder length and i'm trying to find a way to easily retain length without protective styling ( because mini twists/braids don't go my whole style as i've tried multiple times and it's doesn't give what it's suppose to give on me 🥲, and i can't keep longterm braids ). I just like wearing my hair but in it's natural state i break it alot more which is the reason why i've been stuck at my current length. Hopefully i'll retain some length because i'm desperate at this point. I went natural when i was 13, 8 years later still no long hair.

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому

      @@canttrustbusdriverstoarrive girl I feel ya. I only do braids when I know I'm having a chill walk and not leaving the house. As I've gotten older I also feel like braids just aren't giving me the wowness that I want. When I get tired of buns and braidouts, straight styles are a nice change and then it's easier to comb and brush through the week and can be gentle cause the tangles are soft. Some times I go through phases of trying to incorporate cute hair accessories. Colorful scrunchies,hair clips, headbands, etc. It's hard tho to get the length to stay. For while I tried biotin supplements. Just regular ones from Walmart or a local health food store. Doesn't give miracle growth but it definitely makes the hair stronger and thicker, and the nails. I'm here for u. We gonna get get u to your goals.

    • @shanikacorb

      Heyy. I put curls Blueberry Bliss oil on it. Comes in a small bottle. It's a yellow oil. Smells like blueberries. Very light and doesn't leave my scalp feeling greasy. I use it only when I feel my scalp is extra thirsty.

    I really enjoyed your video as I have been contemplating different styles I could do to enjoy my hair and not always have it up. I was wondering would you consider your strands to be fine or coarse? I was thinking my hair may not be able to take the heat weekly because they are fine and just wanted to know if you too had fine strands that could take the heat and still retain such great length. Beautiful hair! Thank you for sharing what's working for you with us!

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому

      Heyyy girl. I'm glad you enjoyed. It's definitely process finding the best style and thebright amount of heat that won't cause too much damage. I would say that the top half of my hair, so from my ears forward to my hairline is medium to fine. My edges are super super fine for sure. And then from my ears backwards to my neck is medium to thick. Some parts are coarser than others I noticed. So when I'm straightening my hair I move the plates slower in the back to get the hair straighter and then parts of the front can get really straight with just one pass.
      The majority of the time my hair is pulled back or in braids. But I do love those moments when I can wear my hair out and down. Feels soo free.

      @@shanikacorb thank you so much for replying! It's so funny how we can have different sized hair strands, density, porosity, curl patterns etc across our heads lol. Im learning that it's my hair and as such, it should be enjoyed the way I like. It's quite unfortunate that we have to even think this way as black women. There's just alot of decisiveness in the black community when it comes to hair and what are acceptable practices. So I not only appreciate your commitment to structure and routine in your hair care, but I appreciate you confidently and unapologetically wearing your hair the way you feel best expresses you. This gives others confidence to do the same. Thanks again!

      Thank you. That is exactly the type of message I want to share and spread with these video. We get sooo scared and nervous when it comes to our hair. Spend years wishing we could try styles and end up not trying anything at all. I just wanna have fun with my hair and feel good. With good balance and care we can all enjoy the fun. That's why I switch between straightening and protective styles. Do my hair will be stron to handle the manipulation. Health is still a main goal. But so is fun.

    Did you use heat protectant ?

    • @shanikacorb
      @shanikacorb  2 роки тому +1

      No. The only product I use to blow dry is the cantu. When I was first transitioning I used the the Tresemme heat protectant spray in the black and red bottle. So I haven't used heat protectant in over 8 years. So I try to be very smart with how I use heat and pay attention to how much my hair can handle.

      Hair products are way too overpriced. So I just stick to the same few products that I know I like and work well for me. Trying out items gets expensive and having longer hair makes it even more complicated.
