It's great how Ryan puts a lot of focus on technique. He's got a lot of good points that he brings up. Been some great content coming from Gypsy lately
I swear ... Yass . The first time I kinda opened my mind to the possibilities of having good technique was when I saw footage of Pit Beirer at the '97 MX des nations . He was an absolute rager 🔥 his body was low, elbows up and his attack was almost feline . I started copying him and staying low and staying low (while standing up) kinda put me in the position Ryno talks about . Stumbling upon Ryno's channel a few months later was a godsend . He makes so much sense . Technique is everything . Technique will make you go faster . Be more safe , be more ready for sketchy situations and enable you to have more fun . I've always wondered how a ninja or a parkour artist might fare at Motocross (and how less prone to injury they might be) . I feel that Skateboarding, BMX, calisthenics, martial arts etc. Are great cross-training sports for Motocross . You don't have to be amazing at them, even basics will help you a fair bit in Motocross . I learnt to pump in a skate bowl (and I'm a beginner) and it has helped with flow on my dirtbike . Right now, I'm locked down . Hence, all this time in the comments section .
I went to Gary Baily MX school a fee times, & he used to teach the same fundamentals. Body positioning (elbows up, head over bars, balls of feet on pegs) & movement (similar to a tennis player, staying flexible for quick reaction) is everything. I'm a firm believer in body position & flexibility on the bike.
But Kenny’s arms were pretty much reconstructed. I’m 90% sure that is why he has to use the braces. I would put that in a different category though there may be something I don’t understand. As for neck and knee braces, I would agree (I know Kenny doesn’t rock the neck brace)

Michael Schumacher’s ski accident injury was exasperated from a GoPro. Examinations and official reports show that the GoPro itself weakened the structure of the helmet, others also discuss that the GoPro actually broke through and pierced his skull. This was during its infant years when they were big and bulky, but still, it’s possible.
"What's the first thing you do when you come out the womb?.....You take a breath. You breath, right?.. And what do astronauts do, they float freely, they focus on they're breathing, through years of training...okay?and ask me what i do when i take a bong rip what do i do I hold that shit in and never let it out because I've reached a higher state of consciousness then any of you."
7 time world champ Mike Shumaker had a helmet cam when he had his skiing accident in 2013, it was only mentioned in the first news report, I have never seen it mentioned since then, Ive always wondered why, but he did and that's when I learned the danger of helmet cam. Sadly he is still unresponsive at home.
I wear knee braces simply because I am naturally hyper flexible and my MX cornering technic is not good enough yet so I dab frequently. When you dab frequently with loose ligaments you won't break anything but your joint goes out of axis which will wear your cartilage excessively and down the line will increase your chances of bad Osteoarthritis. Ask me how I know ? That why my mum already have 3 joints replaced before 60. Now I ski and enduro MTB competitively and can spend full days riding without any tiredness in my knees, 2h riding stages or mx track and my knees get achy, since wearing my knee braces I can ride for a day and solve the problem. Since I do many other sports besides my knee stability is as good as it's gonna get with my shitty ligaments but without braces I would put my long term health at risk for a sport I am not competitive in. But I will agree that riding without braces is much more natural and once my technique is good enough so I dab only rarely in corners I might restart riding without them. My your knees people you only have one pair for life and hyper-flexibility sucks for this.
Stand up on the bike while riding, grip it with your legs, now throw it side to side by your knees . Does it feel better, with the braces on or off . It probably feels better with the braces off . Feeling better on the bike will make you more efficient .
I used to wear knee braces before I became paralyzed. They don’t affect your riding position in any way shape or form. Neck brace I can see but knee braces no

What I think about this is - when you crash in F1 car the forces are probably much higher and you cannot jump out of the cockpit or do anything to save yourself like get into the "ball" position so you can slide or do a roll. In F1 you get the force right on you and withou neck brace your neck would just come from one side to the other and to whatevet positios so fast, even good muscles cannot prevent that. With neck brace you have that extra support so your head doesn't shake too much therefote prevents an injury I think. In mx you can jump out of the bike and to roll is better. With a neck brace you can't roll so easy because it is restricting your head. For me neck brace might not be the best prevention when it comes to MX and I think I can say in my case it has caused more or less damaged ligaments in both my shoulders - just because it has restricted full movement of the shoulder as well as a movement of my whole upper body.. I also have to day I was wearing one of the first models of Leatt which was produced 2016-17 I guess.
