Great video. Put any Carolla driver behind the wheel of a BYD Dolphin Premium and their mind will be blown. For anyone based in QLD the Dolphin Premium is way way better value than the Carolla.
The Dolphin Dynamic has half the battery size of the Premium so the car would be considerably lighter. So the power to weight ratio could be similar. The main advantage with the Premium then would be the range.
Wrong! Sorry but your numbers are distorted. These are the facts: Dynamic 70kW motor pulling 1506kg vs Premium 150kW pulling 1648kg means Dynamic 46kW per tonne, Premium 91kW per tonne, Dynamic 180Nm torque vs Premium 310Nm= Dynamic 120Nm/tonne vs Premium 187Nm. The Premium has immensely higher (nearly double) the power+torque per tonne than Dynamic. P.S. you're welcome.
You base your calculations on $.23/kwh. I am paying .08 (yes, 8 cents) per kwh with OVO, and AGL have recently launched a matching EV plan, but if you have solar the feed-in tariff is 10 vs ~5 cents/kwh, so I am staying with OVO for now. You need a time-of-day tariff and matching meter, but any smart meter can do it.
@@marcc.490 Fair enough, but the base model Seal is $49890 before on roads and very much larger and better specced. We get the QLD $6k EV subsidy for a first owned EV so the Seal purchase price drops under your Dolphin on-road price.

I have been waiting for such a comparison of the 2 Dolphins for months now. Thank you very much!
A bit of argument in our family today over who gets the Atto3 for the day. I lost, sadly.
lol, thats funny
.65cents kW/h cost average in Ireland
really in the home or charging stations
Hahaha once you go EV it hard to drive an ice car.

is there any talk of the dolphin being rated to tow a small trailer? I know the Atto3 has a towing rating, but I prefer the smaller dolphin
Based on price the entry model Seal could be a better choice again.
How so? It 49k drive away in my state for the premium dolphin and 42k drive away for dynamic. The rwd seal is $54900 drive away.

The Seal is more of a Camry competitor.
