You talked about the original Sonic movie design, fun fact: there is concept art of action figures which were supposed to be released along with the movie given to those that went to see it in theaters. Due to the backlash, only the concept images exist and its unknown if any of the figures got passed the prototype stage
The cup toppers? Those were released, I think maybe one of them went unproduced but I know most of that set saw release
It also shoots down any conspiracy theories that the bad design was a marketing stunt. There’s no way they would fully commit to the original design that much by having life-sized plaster models and prototype toys.
@@ShadowLinkxMaster yes... I do agree ... it certainly does shoot that down
@@TurtleCraftZ1 strange - I didn’t see them. I may browse longer on eBay for such elusive figures
Look tbh I dont share the opinion that the original cut should be released hate and flame I will not change my opinion but it's better off lost the original design was studio meddling by cash hungry big wigs high on their own stank it's much better off lost because it looked absolutely terrible and nightmare inducing and would have made the film an absolute disaster flop with people only seeing it to ridicule how bad it was with the redesign the film was saved from the dust bin of obscurity and saved from a fate the likes of super Mario bros bloodrayne and the house of the dead yes those got sequels but they're terrible toilet fodder quietly released outside theaters or more recently the box office bombs warcraft and assassins creed my opinion stands that the redesign saved it from a terrible fate
The fact that the canadian goverment owns the assets for a sonic reskin of a mario CDI game, is so weird!
I imagine Sonic next to Wolverine lol.
I want to see
Pack up your stuff and put it in the truck, boys. We're going to Canada
Pack your guns too, we have to topple the government to get the prize!
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
As one of the 12 people that unironically love Shadow the Hedgehog I think I'm most invested in that early build
I don't love the game, but I think it's alright, certainly far better than what most people make it out to be. At least I like it better than Heroes, if only because it's on average a far less broken and frustrating game. I don't get why people freak out so much over having a Sonic character say things like "damn", I've seen far sillier things being done with the franchise and it's characters (I'm talking about official media, not something like Sonichu or Tails get trolled), but then nobody bats an eye for some reason.
The game's actually decent, people just get hung up on the 'ow the edge' memes too much.
Same here I demand the Directors Cut!
Same
@@emilyspearman4519 it's not though. It tries to be two different things at the same time, both of which clash way too hard.
Lost Nintendo media would be great
Yeah buts there not a lot of it
If we can find it
That video would be hours long
Yoshi gba game, mario 64 prototype,
……..
*insert spongebob regretting his life choices meme*
Super hornio bros
There are several lost idea's and scripts for a Sonic movie in the mid 90's and early 2000's. From what i can recall there are two mostly known, first one was about Sonic coming into our world through a TV to help defeat Robotnik with help of a 12 year old kid (The script was shown but it never went further than that. i remember reading through the script and it was really bad, glad it didn't get green lit )
The second one was based of the Archie comics, some concept art has leaked from it but nothing else. I'd honestly like to see Sony's old concept of the movie before it got picked up by Paramount.
Good content though, keep it up!
@prickly pear Not to mention, he deliberately ruined the opportunity for a Sonic movie pitch based on the saturday morning cartoon the comics were originally based on that'd bring closure to the storyline of that show, just so he could pitch his own movie. And in the end we got nothing because his own pitch got rejected.
Is there any way to find this concept art, for the early 2000s Sonic movie?
@@thegamingkubedoro The archie comics concept art is on the artist's deviant art. but the film was called Sonic Armageddon and with a simple google search you can find pics on google if that helps!
Patmac has a good video
It sounds like the live-action Fat Albert movie
This guy needs more subs he is so talented
Yes :)
There’s also a still picture of a teaser trailer for the Sonic movie, which was shown at CCXP 2018. The design of Sonic looked better than the 2019 design, but worse than the 2020 design. As far as I know this teaser trailer has never been released to the public aside from one still image.
Thanks for the shoutout dude! Also there are some cut songs in shadow the hedgehog like: “broken”, “all of me”, and “who I am”
That was a good idea
Rex Ray Adamson thx
Dude I swear I watched that pilot back then, I saw it on some dvd we rented from Blockbuster (tells you how long ago this happened) I swear I watched it but I dont remember if it did have sound effects or not
Which one?
@@emilioduran3430 the Pilot for Sonic the Hedgehog
@@dlc6123 the first episode has a similar plot to the pilot so I presume you must mean you watched the first epiosde
Seeing how the Schumacher cut of Batman Forever is being talked about, maybe you could do lost DC media, like movies, tv shows, etc. Love the channel by the way!
I still like the mystery of the missing original beta of the original Sonic game. Apparently it was more polished and looked better than the version that we got. But the only information we have is screen shots to remember the build from the Tokyo Toy show in 1990.
Even Yuji has stated himself that he nor Sega have the build, they have literally no clue where it went or what happened to it.
That's what's so interesting about it. If Sega themselves have no clue what happened to it, then how is anyone else going to find it. It does make me interested about all the other changes that we would have seen in the rest of the game other than the ones we know.
"Apparently it was more polished and looked better than the version that we got"
Well, it's pretty common for game demos at conventions and such to run on more powerful hardware than that of the consoles the games are planned to be released on, so maybe that's why. It's a practice that survives even to this day, and the first Sonic game certainly isn't the only one in the series to have has that treatment; the demo versions of both SA1 and 06 looked way better than their released versions (especially 06, for obvious reasons).
A build of sonic 1 beta was leak
A build of sonic 1 beta was leak
The comics kinda hit hard because I loved some of the stuff it had like the Tossed in Space story, it's not the best one but it's my favorite.
Up until you talking about it, I never thought about the original 2019 sonic design...it’s wild how I lived through and watched lost media in the making. I actually went to the first showing of the 2020 movie, so now I’m really curious about the first design and how it would have been if they had sticked to it
"Sonic's long-lost sister, Sister Sonic"
Sonia: *Am I a joke to you?*
It wasn't only the design that changed in the Sonic movie, before Tyson heese and Sega had to step in, it was a lot more cringy and had a different plot where Sonic saved the world
Many scenes had to be reshot and new ones were shot, it's noticeable in the final movie
Great video overall, was hoping you'd mention Sonic the awakening (which got as far as getting voice overs for it, so, pretty far) or the finished, unreleased, version of Sonic 06 (the retail version is an early beta )
no way sonic 06 retail is a beta. that just makes the game that much weirder. sonic 06 is wack
Fun Fact: Sonic's redesign for the movie was made by Tyson Hesse, who was the art director for Sonic Mania, Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog starting in 2018, and a number of fan projects which were how he got noticed by Archie and Sega in the first place. He was seemingly hired by Paramount at Sega's suggestion.
Anyone see that at 9:22 ?
Yeah
For the Sonic Movie, some deleted scenes with the original design were released on home media. There’s two other lost pieces of Sonic Movie media as well including a short made to pitch the film to Paramount and a trailer focused on Robotnik that was only shown at Cinemacon 2019.
I love this channel. I’d love to see more videos and see it take off. I’m learning new stuff on topics I thought I knew inside out
Surprisingly, the 2019 version of the Sonic movie wasn't as finished as we thought. When watching the deleted scenes on the Blu Ray release, there's only one finished sequence featuring the old design of child Sonic. The rest is either previz, or in the case of a cut scene showing Crazy Carl trying to catch Sonic, complete in all aspects except for Sonic being edited into the footage, with even the characer's shadow being visible. This could be due to Paramount and SEGA trying to hide as much footage of the original design as they possibly could though, since the original trailer was privated a while back.
Viacom should put the old design of the sonic movie on cbs all access
I mean you can see part of the old design in the cut scenes
@@aruce9 ?
you mean like they were going to do with the spongebob movie. (by the way the movie wasn't that great)
@@Jee2000s OH OK THANKS FOR TELLING ME
I just binged all your uploads bruh. Keep it up ❤
I'm fascinated of what Tails would've looked like before they changed the film.
All Things Lost ideas: Lost Godzilla movie concepts, perhaps any lost info on Chinese Democracy? Universal Dark Universe
request lost and cancelled of toho monsters and Godzilla movie (featuring wikizilla and cinemagoji)
Speaking of Archie Sonic, when the comic reboot got canceled when Sega switched over the rights to IDW, there were several issues in the works for after the Sonic Unleashed ark, focusing on a SegaSonic the Hedgehog adaptation, a series of adventures focusing on the other core Freedom Fighter cast, and a finish to Sonic Mega Drive, called Sonic Megadrive: Overdrive. There is a fan recreation of one of the second set of comics, involving Sonic and Antoine visiting Antoine's family home and taking on a shady swordsman, but the actual comic hasn't been released, save for a few pages, and none of the comics have been released in their entirety.
Great video, honestly I'm glad to say that I'm subscriber 251. An interesting idea would be the different Spider-Man movie pitches. There's a full scriptment out there for one of them and it looks like it would've been a good movie.
Really enjoying all the great videos! Please keep it up! I'd love to see you tackle Cartoon Cartoon Fridays
You’re so underrated
This is gonna become a big channel for sure, Lost media is super interesting topic
According to the channel Corridor Crew, who do professional CG work for film, the clips that get chosen to be in a trailer (via a storyboard) will be the first scenes to get finalised and rendered out meaning that the whole Sonic movie pre redesign wasnt made and like available for the trailer editors to pick bits from the whole thing for making into the trailer. Based on my limited work with 3D animation I think the non trailer shots were mostly in a rougher base stage which the redesigned model still used as its base. There's probally a few more clips which were planned for a second trailer that got further along before the redesign but not much else or that design... hopefully
This is the first time I've heard about the T rated version of Shadow The Hedgehog, truly the Sonic franchise is the gift that keeps on giving.
Ok?
One obscure lost piece of Sonic media is the manga that ran from 1992-1994. It was printed in Japanese magazines and was never published in its own books. Some of it has been preserved online and a few stories have even been translated by fans, but there are still many that are lost. There are several things that make this an interesting piece of Sonic's history such as Sonic being portrayed as a young hedgehog in 4th grade named Nicky who turns into Sonic whenever there's danger (similar to Clark Kent turning into Superman), Amy and Charmy originating in it (yes, this pre-dates Sonic CD and Knuckles' Chaotix), and Sonic having a family including a younger sister named Tania (and you thought Sonic Underground was the first time Sonic had a sister.) I think this is definitely worth talking about in a future video as well as some other lost video game manga including one called "Otenba Peach-hime" which was published in one of the same magazines series, and is a gag series based on Princess Peach from the Mario Bros. games and other characters from the series as kids. I have been doing a lot of research on this manga and preserving all I can. I recently made a Facebook page dedicated to the Princess Peach manga. facebook.com/OtenbaPeachhime/
Random thought: I _hate_ when they make baby versions of popular characters. I can't be the only one who feels this (almost unreasonable) distain for them. I dare you to give me a single good example of that trope.
For some reason my mind immediately jumped to Bowser Jr despite him being his own character separate from Bowser
Muppet Babies
The original Sonic movie design, herein to be referred to as "Ugly Sonic", had a role in the live-action/animated Rescue Rangers movie on Disney+.
Fun Fact about that movie: Every non-human character was animated by computer. From the "traditionally animated" cel-shaded characters to the cheese store muppet. It's like taking the concept of Roger Rabbit (who also appeared as a cameo), and kicking it up a notch. Technology can be fun when used properly.
They could make bank off of a limited edition blu-ray/streaming service release of the original Sonic film as a Halloween special.
About the sonic movie redesign, crew members have confirmed already that all that we saw in the trailer is all that was finished at the time. Is sort of an standard to first finish the trailer footage and then continue with the rest of the movie. In this case, being that less than two weeks passed after the trailer and before the sudden choice of the redesign, there is more than likely not much else than what we can see of the old design aside from the deleted scenes featured on home media releases.
Since you did Sonic how about Mario one peice of media I can think of are 2 live action segments of The Super Mario Bros Super Show The Magic Love and Treasure of Sierra Brooklyn
Edit:
Here are some others I found while looking up stuff
Mario Artist Series (Game Maker, Message Maker, Sound Maker, Video Jockey Maker)
Club Mario
VB Mario Kart
Mario Motors
Yo you’re keeping lost media popular in between Jorge uploads😂 for your consistency you need more subs
nice video, here's hoping you also talk about Mario, maybe even Mega Man and Pac-Man
Is there any way to contact you outside of UA-cam? I have an idea for you, but UA-cam comments don't really work well for discussion as links can get a comment shadow banned.
what song is used in the background at 5:30?
I love Popful Mail, my favorite game on the Sega CD, but I still would have liked a reworked SisterSonic adaption of it, maybe not as a straight re-skin, but like a pseudo-sequel with same assets and mechanics, but all-new stages. I remember the Amy stages in one of the Sonic Advance titles actually felt kinda close to how I imagine SisterSonic could have played with a more slower-paced, melee combat focus to it.
HOLY SHIT THANK YOU FOR BRINGING UP ECCO THE DOLPHIN I WAS TRYING TO REMEMBER IT FOREVER
Fun fact: Paramount had sent out promo posters of the original Sonic design, and the theater I worked at got a few. We were directed to throw them out when the redesign was announced, but at least one ended up going home with someone.
I’m sorry that I have to be that guy, but what is that bumpin track that pops off when he starts talking about the CDI? At 5:30.
I heard from Corridor (professional vfx artists) that the trailer is usually the very first bit of animation to be completed before working on the rest of the film. Its likely that the only complete footage of the original Sonic design exists in the trailer. Of course all the hard work the animators put in before and after should not be understated, but its very likely a complete film with the original design flat out doesn't exist.
Good video here's some more lost media with sonic there was once a sonic and shadow skateboarding game what looked way different from the riders series
There was also a prototype of sonic on the original DS what looks like sonic runners on mobile
Or the amy rose spin off mobile games on old mobile phones
That japanese sonic arcade game cabinet with mighty and ray what never got ported over to western audiences or anywhere else
Or How about that old cancelled sonic x treme game on the saturn which eventually became lost world
There was also originally a ken penders sonic movie pitch
And finally there's that much better sonic forces game if you see the older concept art you can see it could have been a better game.
perhaps maybe some lost megaman content?? there is a lost megaman 4 or 5 cartridge that was made out of real gold and was only known for a limited time contest, not many talk abt it but i would like for you to talk abt it also
I compiled some other missing Sonic media for future videos:
* Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Limited Edition - Planned compilation cart featuring Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles as one; two prototype ROM images dumped in 2008.
* Sonic 1 Tokyo Toy Show 1990 demo - The first real appearance of Sonic 1 (excluding the February 1990 engine test and Dreams Come True),
* SegaSonic Cotton Candy Shop - Cotton candy shop with minigame built in.
Also, minor correction; Issues 243--246 weren't canceled (they were altered, with the latter three being completely rewritten), and the series ended at Issue 290, not Issue 289.
2:00
Well it kept that rating here in the PAL region, with a PEGI 12 (back when it was 12+).
The word "Hell" is still used in the final version.
I had sonic on vhs as a kid and I remember seeing that full episode is it the lost pilot??
what song did you use?
can you do some lost silent era movies? there's alot to choose from given that most are lost and only few still exist in their original formats lol
1:28 is the continue screen for dr robotniks mean bean machine
Correction: There is a second Sonci peco games based on Tails. But, you need more subs.

Lost Pieces of Nintendo Media
Lost books maybe
I’m surprised the lost Sonic 1 beta isn’t on here. It was supposed to be in Sonic Generations but Sega said it was lost and was replaced with the regular Sonic 1.
Also lost demos would be cool some ideas (Harry Nilsson , Supertramp , Pink Floyd)
The original Sonic design never got made into the full movie. The last thing being done for the film was CGI. In fact, there's a previous Sonic design that existed even before the trailers appeared that has been shown in leaked images. There is no full cut of the previous designs before the Hesse-backed designs.
Original 2019 Sonic still haunts my dreams.
DUDE I REMEMBER THE SONIC COMICS. I always wanted to get them, but by the time I bought the Archie comics, it was too late to send the envelope of cash and the order sheet in :(
That line about the canadian government made me laugh way harder than it should have.
The “oh hi here” gets me every time
I was wondering if you did a mario video if not maybe you can see if there's anything in that topic?
In regards to the 2020 Sonic Movie, I would like to know if they had to redesign the Tails cameo at the end of the movie. How horrific did they make Tails?
I have that Tiger Sonic Adventure game (it's literally sitting right in front of me), but I can't find any information about it being lost media?
Is the ROM online?
Lost anime or anime movies
Theres an earlier version of 2020s live action sonic. It was leaked and showed more of what i like to call "unleashed live action sonic" he was hairier and a darker blue
9:09 I don't think that's right. The studio more than likely had only completed the few scenes for the trailer at the time the change was made. So there probably isn't a copy of the movie with ugly sonic sitting in a vault.
Also something cool is Michael Jackson did the music for Sonic 3 in 1994 including a 8 bit version of his classic hit Stranger In Moscow (more songs may be unreleased on demo mode)
Sega's Mushiking series was a competitor to Pokemon, instead of mythical beasts the game centers on real insects, mostly horned beetles. This arcade card game was popular in Japan and Malaysia, but there are several lost arcade games from Japan that didn't make the cut to the English market:
Mushiking: PoPo's adventure
This Particular entry is different from the others, at it incorporates RPG elements Not much footage of it exists besides a trailer for it
Mushiking: Adder's Final (甲虫王者ムシキング アダー完結編)
The Final chapter of the series, sadly it never got localized due to competition from Namco's Animal Kaiser, some gameplay footage of it does exist

Marking: What if Sonic went back to looking shit again
The team on the sonic movie stated that the only scenes that had the original design were the trailer ones and a few others. It was too much of a set back.
That sonic shit pissed me off so bad with their first design
i saw the possibility of the original sonic movie becoming lost media, it was bound to happen
1:53 Sonic Adventure 1: Am I a Joke to You?
Personally would have seen tbe movie regardless of his design. Im not a mega fan like when i was a small kid, but i still loved the movie. It would have been weird in some parts of the movie, but im glad either way. The movie was fantastic!
hey @allthingslost you do a video on lost music videos
thanks lauren
There actually ARE 2 sonic games forvthe pico sonic's gameworld like you said and tails and the music maker
9:10 To think this wouldn’t have made it on this list if nobody bitched about it
"More faithful localization" is a funny joke given that Working Designs ended up localizing it; they fucked with every game they localized, and Popful Mail was no exception, from some spicy script changes (which actually fit this game at least; they're a lot less appropriate in most of the other games Working Designs localized) to making the game much more difficult. For example, one enemy that used to do 5 damage now does 45 damage, in a game where you always have 100 HP; they went from killing you in 20 hits to killing you in 3, and they also have triple health. Additionally, all healing item cost 1.5x what they normally did, and the valuable invincibility item is 15x as expensive. Seriously, Working Designs did this with every game they localized; Exile 2 ended up being one of the hardest games ever as a result, with largely similar changes (and then Working Designs lied about how it happened for some reason).
U need more than 100k u have less than 800 if you keep going u can get 100k
I really wish shadow the hedgehog got a T rating instead of a E 10+ rating it will be so much cooler and edgier if it got that rating
I know it's not Sonic but I probably have an old Qbert game somewhere in storage.
I swear I think remember seeing the piolet on vhs
Look for the vhs dude
Honestly the male version of sonic boom has bothered me for years it aired a few years ago but I can't see any evidence of it online
Idea: Cartoon Network lost media
There's was a lost preview version of episode 15 "Battle abord the st. Ann" from the first season of pokemon that was aired 1 day before the series officially released in america. It was lost for a long time due to it never being aired again after its first airing, until Squigglemclamesprite found the full preview version, and posted it on a MEGA link, and a google drive.
Although the episode it's self is pretty much exactly the same as the version that aired 20 days later ( The current version )
All that's different is the narration at the beginning, and end of the episode.
Here's a link to the actual lost media wiki about it
