I used to befriend an owner of an independent chocolate outlet and as a gift, she gave me this Nightmare Before Christmas Sally doll that looked very different from the dolls seen in the Disney store. Other than the fact that it came with no tag the mouth, hair, dress, socks and stitch patterns were all unique from the Disney Store Sallys leading me to think that it was some sort of factory prototype. The stictching that keeps the doll together were also slightly more noticable. I asked the owner of where she got it from and she said she worked in a Disney outlet in between running her outlet and was given this prototype doll as a leavers gift from other cast members. So, it does seem likely that this could be a prototype given the aforementioned differences and how outlet stores (at least in my country) tend to stock prototypes, it does seem likely.
As a designer who works with a lot of rounds of product samples, I love this video. It’s wonderful to know that there is a person like you who appreciates the killed ideas and all the hard work of designers behind the scenes, aka the lost art. It’s honestly so encouraging for me to keep going. PS: It’s true; while many prototypes have poorer quality than the final product, some are way better than the ones that got final approval for production due to budget restrictions. So many ideas, details, and neat features get sacrificed along the way, only to end up with bland products that can be made cheaply.
@Joey's opinion I’ve worked for a fashion brand, greeting card company, and home decor brand. I’ve yet to work on a line of toys, though that job seems really fun!
I’m dealing with a lot of chronic pain right now , to the point where I’ve had to stop activities and have been in bed for a day or so- and binge watching your plush videos has brought such a smile to my face. You’re amazing , PatMac!
Hello! I want to thank you because you indirectly led me to a rare 80s My Little Pony prototype. I was looking at one of the Japanese sites mentioned in your Soap Shoes Sonic video and I couldn't believe it when I saw a Takara MLP for sale. They were only released in Japan and look much different from 'regular' MLPs--think Hello Kitty. Takara ponies are very rare . . . and this one was a prototype, and of a rare character to boot! I still can't believe she's in my collection! So, thank you! To be honest I don't even collect Sonic or plushies, but I love toy history so your videos are some of my favorites.
I have a factory sample Glaceon, and I searched around ebay for him because of you mentioning it in a previous video! Thank you, I love his weird colors
9:20 I BET tails has pink details, because TOMY had already bought that felt for Amy's bangs, but since they canceled her, they used it for some prototypes.
Hey PatMac, I'm not really interested in collecting toys and stuff. This is actually the first video I see from your channel and wow, I watched the whole thing it was very interesting and well constructed. We had enough informations to follow even if we didn't knew much the characters. At this point I thought your video was a show by how good it was.
I like plushes, I don’t collect them (I just like messing around with them, I have like 10 of Mario and Pokémon plushes in total) but these are the best videos on the planet to binge.
I think around 2017 or last year I saw one in a Golden Corral restaurant in their claw machine. They should still be available, the machine was full of them. I didn't get one tho, I suck at those games

21:15 Oh my god, I think I used to have that striped shirt Jimmy figure when I was a kid. That’s the design used in the original Runaway Rocketboy pilot of the show.

Very cool!! I also find prototypes so fascinating. I was very lucky to be given what appears to be a prototype plush of Lizzie from the Rampage movie. I treasure it!
I’ve rewatched this video so many times that when I played Mega Man Zero 2 and heard the intro song to this video play in its original context I audibly shouted “HOLY SHIT ITS THE PATMAC SONG”
Dude! You are one of a kind! I remember you from when you had 3K. Also I had forgotten about the villager, but I never forgot about the Baby Blue Yoshi since I was waiting for its release to get it for my brother who loves Yoshi. I was sad to hear he never released :'(
PatMac, the absolutely legendary plush collector and hunter returns to show us some insight into the hidden lore behind the merchandise we all love. Also, a moment of silence for the long lost Baby Yoshi. Gone (at least as of now), but not forgotten.
Looking at Sonic series plushies reminds me of that scene in Sonic X where Amy and Tails pretend to be Chris's stuffed toys while they travel on a train.
Has anybody have an actual DS game of Garfield funfest in there collections, however I don't collect any Garfield merch but I have the game and once in a while play it
I just found your channel. I collect licensed merchandise from cartoons and games. It feels awesome to find people with similar hobbies! I never thought to look for prototypes, but now I'm very interested. I'd love to chat with you some time!
I hate these comments for two reasons.. 1. They get tons of likes, which is the main goal for most people who make them, instead of making a point(likes have been proven to produce dopamine, which is a brain function that can be made through drug and alcohol usage) 2. If they are making a point over likes(which I doubt), it’s basically saying bland comments/compliments are the only thing you can comment on videos and humor in general is overrated.
I really want one of those monochrome piranha plant figures. That's the closest thing we have to an official piece of merchandise of the Pale Piranhas from Paper Mario.

I don't find myself jealous of youre collection, i find myself happy for you. Either way, Disney doesn't produce the book anymore, most likely the old pictures of the new-at-the-time Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and around the end of the book, it refrences EPCOT not having been built by then. But off of me. You're videos are great
