She somehow manages to look like no one’s home up there while at the same time looking likes she’s on a plane of thought far above everyone. Her acting without saying a word is truly amazing.
The actor that plays Helena did such an amazing job by not overdoing it. The absolute terror in her eyes, the way she clutched her daughter's head as she calmly walked out of the room...genuinely broke my heart.
I became enchanted by her as an actor while doing interviews in groups between seasons. I think she’s absolutely lovely. And the character she has created is engaging.

At first I just thought Helaena was a bit of a slowpoke but she's easily one of the most sympathetic characters in the show now. Poor girl. Great acting btw.
It's hard to really call her slow, she just sees things differently and everyone expects next to nothing from her. She is quite smart about things that matter to her and really, I think she was pretty brave in the last few episodes given the circumstances.

“The last ring has no legs” I believe that has to do with Bran Stark being in a wheelchair. Each ring represents a ruler, and the last we know of is Bran
I think when Helena said to Alicent "i forgive you" what she meant was forgiving Alicent for throwing her out of the window in the future (and while saying this she was standing in front of one). Maybe she told Alicent all of her visions and the song of ice and fire. She looked to be ok with her death probably looking forward to it. It would be cool, if Helena falling down would see two bright figures in the window not only Alicent . The fall would end her visions just the way the fall started Bran's. Maybe she would pass her "curse" to Bran.
The original rider of Dreamfyre was Rhaena Targaryen. As a child, Rhaena was shy, preferring the presence of animals instead of people. She bonded instantly with Dreamfyre as a hatchling and named her as such because others referred to her as a dreamer. Once she began to ride Dreamfyre she became less timid and created bonds with her cousins and other children of the High Lords who lived in the castle. This might explain why during the last feast with Viserys Helaena so boldly claimed bedding her brother "wasn't so bad. Just lay there and wait unless he's drunk" or something similar. Then she didn't hesitate and was welcoming of Jacaerys's touch when he asked her to dance. The change in both riders' personalities once bonded and finally riding Dreamfyre can't be a coincidence. I also read that when Rhaena was separated from Dreamfyre for long periods her personality would revert to being timid, shy, sullen, and refused to partake in any festivities where crowds were gathered. There's definitely a connection between Rhaena's personality, behaviors, and "dreams" and Heleana's whose were eerily similar. I think Dreamfyre only ever bonded with the "Dreamers" because they were one themselves. It is often theorized that Dragons and their Riders bond mentally/emotionally and not just because of their bloodline. Who knows? I just think it's too on the nose not to make the connection.

There seems to be a sliding scale for the strength of Targaryen Dreamers, some of the family have occasional prophetic visions, others like Helena seem to have them so pervasively it's like wandering around in a dissociative state. Imagine living your life never knowing if what you perceive is actually happening now, or is a vision of the future-and not even knowing when that future will come to pass? Add to it the visions are not crystal clear, they have to be interpreted b/c many of them are apparently metaphors, (we saw that in HOTD S1 E3 when Viserys spoke to Alicent about his Dream of a son being king after him..what he interpreted as a tourney celebration a coronation was probably an accurate vision of the civil war that's about to happen). If that's not a recipe for insanity, I don't know what is. So is that the root cause of the Targ "madness"?
I think there are a lot of different aspects to Targaryan madness. The fact that they might actually be part dragon, the dreaming, the insane levels of incest...

I think Helaena, whether intentional or not by the writers, was written to be neurodivergent or autistic, I’m autistic and notices she possesses a lot of the signs including special interests (her bugs), poor social skills and too much honesty (she says things like her comments at the last dinner about Aegon that were out of pocket and didn’t seem to notice), muted or held-back expressions (she clearly has expressions but they’re usually soft and restrained), repetitive habits (she enjoys sewing because it’s repetitive and that’s comforting to her) sensory overloads (the funeral of her son that felt like the beginning of a meltdown to me, also she doesn’t like being touched too much when Alicent tried to comfort her in the first season) and a very clearly different way of perceiving the world and people , the last one could be because of her dragon dreams which she clearly has, but it also could be a symptom mixed in with it. I don’t think the writers intended her to be autistic, they were just trying to make her different. But who knows, maybe they’ll say something in the future. 😊

Definition! I didn't realise Helena was a Dragon rider. I can't image her being mounted on Dragon back sending it high across the bay. That's wicked. I wonder if we will see her getting involved with any flying at all. Also. What do you think is the likeliness of Vaeghar either hesitating or disobeying Aemond if he command her to kill either Bealla or Rheana? Remember that Vaeghar was previously their mother's mount & pet, and clearly hesitated when tasked to commit a fiery suicide on her behalf. I dunno how previous loyalties and/or the memories work with Dragons. That could be cool though if we see her refuse Aemonds request to Dracarys either of Daemon's offspring, and we have already seen epic stuff come due to Caeghar ignoring or going over the top with commands.
The subtlety of Rhaena’s arrow bolt barely missing Jace is foreshadowing. Also the symbol of the seven gods on Aemonds coin above his eye symbols his fate above the gods eye
I watched a ton of videos with Phia Saban talking about her role and she’s never discussed Heleana being a dreamer. I wonder if she’s been told not to talk about it because it would give away what the show plans to do with her throughout the season.
She's based on Cassandra from the Odyssey and one of the Trojan Wars characters. The Gods gifted her with Foresight but then Cursed her that no one would believe her. GRRM, imo, got his inspiration for Dragondreamers like Daenys The Dreamer and Helena from Cassandra

Aegon ordered the hanging of all the rat hunters because he did not know which of them had been involved in killing his son. Has his wife Helaena forgotten which of the hunters put a knife to her neck, spoke to her face to face?
We saw him in the episode look at Helaena, who clearly needed to talk to someone who understood what she was going through, and completely dismiss her. He 100% never thought to ask her about the men. I doubt they've spoken about what she went through at all.
I don't think Helaena is picking up on other people's grief. I think it's more that she doesn't trust or know the small folk, and because her last run in with small folk led to her son being decapitated, she's justified in freaking out that the wagon has stopped and they're moving closer to both her and her poor baby boy riding all alone on the carriage in front. She wants to run away, but she can't because she's surrounded and because she's expected to act a certain way. Plus she doesn't want to leave her son. She already ran from him, he was dead, but no doubt she feels guilty for running away and leaving his body. She's not going to do that again, even though she didn't want to ride out like this in the first place.
Or that she's seen something with the smallfolk... there were stills of Alicent and Helaena fleeing in mourning clothes. She could've thought that was about to happen right over the corpse of her son
Well.... she ends up having to endure it again. She never bonded with Maelor after the death of Jaehaerys because she picked him to be the one to die. Honestly, I think she felt like she had to choose the first born son and heir regardless of her love for them. Unfortunately, she never showed any love or bonding with Maelor afterwards. Which makes his ending all the harder on Helaena. If you haven't read the spoilers or the actual book, I won't apologize for that spoiler. In the end, Jaehaera lives and ends up Queen if that makes anyone annoyed with me feel a little better.
Actually being in the "dream world" is a lot like Bernard, from Westworld, when he deaddressed his memories. Because Androids record memories perfectly he had a problem knowing if he was in now or experiencing a memory. I bet that is kinda what it is like also.
I think HBO should revisit the possible do over of the 8th season of (got) because there is no fan today.. who is taking the threat of the long night seriously. I feel so bad for all of the future writers, doing prequels for such a wonderful franchise, that d&d chose to tank.
There’s rumors of a sequels mini series. With just three seasons. Jon Snow has to officially defeat the Night King. But it’s unconfirmed and possible canceled.
Oh, I really feel like it's a story which repeats every thousand years or so. The classic Divine vs. Evil messiah story, with the worse of our shared history thrown in for filler. To continue the story is simply to repeat it.
I fully appreciate the concept that she is constantly in a living dream. She comes across as so disjointed and disconnected, it makes alot of sense. When she said, "they have come for the boy" that was obviously a waking dream. This explains why she so calmly gave up her son, as she believes she was still in the dream.
You may say that helaena is a dreamer, but shes not the only one. I hope one day you'll subscribe to heavy spoilers, then the world can be spoiled as one.
Wonder if they will make Helaena going mad prophet - the funeral scene where she looks up and sees the flowers falling reminds me of Paul Atriedes seeing visions when he was exposed to spice.
I noticed a parallel scene with Rhaenyra watching the dust in the sunlight the same way that Helena was watching the flowers (or confetti? Does Westros have confetti?). No idea wtf it means, but I feel like the parallel was too close _not_ to mean something.

How did "Aegon's Dream" and dagger go from Aenys to Jaehaerys? Aegon was his heir, Meagor was king after Aenys, and Jaehaerys overstepped his older sister Rhaena.
I wonder when Helaena looks to the sky and see’s the petals full, is it a prediction of the Ash that will fall, created by Daenerys when she burns the city in the future? Just a bit of theory time from me.
3:01 mark with the whisper they only want the boy reminds me of Littlefinger before he was killed. The whispers makes me believe he is still alive and was an assassin (faceless man) who learned the trade in Braavos.
I think a lot of people forget Velaryon's (or haven't read the books) that intermarried with the Targaryen's over the years over and over, So Blood of the Dragon is in their line. Even the Baratheon line have some as the 1st Lord of Storms end was a Dragon Seed himself and the family has married into to the Targaryen family a few times. It's why Robert was able to claim the throne with little push back.
Poor Helaena. Alicent was right this episode thtat she's the best and gentlest of all the Targaryens (the Blacks as well as the Greens), and yet she suffers the most of them all too.

I'm pretty sure they cut something from the funeral. They really made it seem like the head was going to go off. We know that they cut other scenes from the funeral because of a trailer showing the hightowers running from the crowd in their funeral clothing.
In the Song Of ice and Fire Books...The Baby Aegon Targaryen was actually NOT killed By The Mountain...and appeared in Book 5...Now the TV show did not use that plotline...now was it likely that in the BOOKs(to come) that Rhaegar named 2 of is sons Aegon, or would John Snow have a different Targ name? Aemon perhaps?
It wasn't accepted in the Seven Kingdoms even when the Targs did it, but they had dragons, so what could be done about it? Once the Targs were gone, people would frequently mention incest when they were shit-talking the house. "Those crazy-ass, inbred Targs!"
I think they should have had more Heleana from the start, had us really come to love her with more initial storyline. They missed an opportunity to make us truly reel from the murder of her baby. I felt bad for her, but just that. I wasn't vested enough for it to hit like it could have. Still its better than the last season of GOT which was like them spitting on their fans
I dont know about the empath thing. I feel like this is more to do with the fact she doesn't like people near her or touching her not even her own mother! Empath thing might be the case but I thing the crowd making her distressed and panicked was for separate reason!
I personally think she is one of two things… a red witch or a three eyed raven ( if they take women that is) but I’m leaning towards a Red witch …or something similar..
Poor Haelana as someone whos autistic i sympathise with her she just wants to be left alone and do her weird drawings but everyone makes her take part in Royal traditions and she couldnt give a F😂

I think you may have missed some of the more glaring, seemingly purposeful, non-fantasy explanations for why Helaena is acting the way she does at the funeral and why she acts the way she does in general. It’s kind of akin to magical savant syndrome, which, say it with me, class, happens in people on the autism spectrum.
No hate- I really did love this channel when there was only the presenters voice, it was refreshing not to see another UA-camr talking at you from the customary UA-camr room/decor, it gave this channel a hint a sophistication others lacked, and now it’s like all the rest. Not to be mean and I’m sure there’s a good reason, I just don’t look forward to the vids in the same way and it’s lost something for me.

Mainly due to copyright reasons in all honesty. As the vids get longer we get more and more and I’ve spent long nights and weekends trying to re-edit stuff only to then get hit with claims. Most of my week over Xmas was trying to re-edit the die hard breakdown to pass without getting blocked so it’s easier to just cut to our own footage. On top of that I feel like with the way AI is going we’re gonna see an age of authenticity come into play. I feel like we’re in the age of information right now but with the rise of deep fakes and voice cloning it’s gonna get to a point where people naturally go towards people they know are real. Retention is also higher on videos with camera footage too. Whether that’s because people connect more with faces over voices I don’t know but those are the main reasons. Writing this as im out jogging so sorry if the spelling and grammar sucks

I want to see more Helaena and actually see Dreamfyre in action. It's ridiculous to have two very prominent (people?) and not give them proper screen time.
With respect to Helaena i feel the writers are taking too many liberties, she isnt a witch, or a psychic/visionary etc but they want to make her one. Changing a character arc in minor bits is ok but changing the deaths, adding extra abilities etc, they may as well just implement a completely new char witha unique name and have full creative license, like they have with the woman aemond sleeps with. There comes a point where you either pay homage to the character or you exclude
One thing I noticed was that the things ( I think it was wheat ) that the commoners were throwing looked like the ashes that fell when Kings landing was destroyed in season 8. They both looked like snow. It seems that maybe halena was having a vision because it also looked like she couldn’t breathe ? Maybe living a vision and seeing the future of kings-landing before her eyes since so much emphasizes was placed on the snow like materials that was being thrown by commoners and their dirty made them look ashy

What got me was when she tried to offer up her necklace. She's not stupid, she knows it won't work, but she has to try.

I didn't realise Helena was a Dragon rider. I can't image her being mounted on Dragon back sending it high across the bay. That's wicked. I wonder if we will see her getting involved with any flying at all.
Also. What do you think is the likeliness of Vaeghar either hesitating or disobeying Aemond if he command her to kill either Bealla or Rheana? Remember that Vaeghar was previously their mother's mount & pet, and clearly hesitated when tasked to commit a fiery suicide on her behalf.
I dunno how previous loyalties and/or the memories work with Dragons. That could be cool though if we see her refuse Aemonds request to Dracarys either of Daemon's offspring, and we have already seen epic stuff come due to Caeghar ignoring or going over the top with commands.

We saw him in the episode look at Helaena, who clearly needed to talk to someone who understood what she was going through, and completely dismiss her. He 100% never thought to ask her about the men. I doubt they've spoken about what she went through at all.

I don't think Helaena is picking up on other people's grief. I think it's more that she doesn't trust or know the small folk, and because her last run in with small folk led to her son being decapitated, she's justified in freaking out that the wagon has stopped and they're moving closer to both her and her poor baby boy riding all alone on the carriage in front.
She wants to run away, but she can't because she's surrounded and because she's expected to act a certain way.
Plus she doesn't want to leave her son. She already ran from him, he was dead, but no doubt she feels guilty for running away and leaving his body.
She's not going to do that again, even though she didn't want to ride out like this in the first place.
Who wouldn't freak out in that situation? She just wants to mourn in peace
Or that she's seen something with the smallfolk... there were stills of Alicent and Helaena fleeing in mourning clothes. She could've thought that was about to happen right over the corpse of her son
Well.... she ends up having to endure it again. She never bonded with Maelor after the death of Jaehaerys because she picked him to be the one to die. Honestly, I think she felt like she had to choose the first born son and heir regardless of her love for them. Unfortunately, she never showed any love or bonding with Maelor afterwards. Which makes his ending all the harder on Helaena. If you haven't read the spoilers or the actual book, I won't apologize for that spoiler. In the end, Jaehaera lives and ends up Queen if that makes anyone annoyed with me feel a little better.

She comes across as so disjointed and disconnected, it makes alot of sense.
When she said, "they have come for the boy" that was obviously a waking dream. This explains why she so calmly gave up her son, as she believes she was still in the dream.

Wonder if they will make Helaena going mad prophet - the funeral scene where she looks up and sees the flowers falling reminds me of Paul Atriedes seeing visions when he was exposed to spice.
I noticed a parallel scene with Rhaenyra watching the dust in the sunlight the same way that Helena was watching the flowers (or confetti? Does Westros have confetti?). No idea wtf it means, but I feel like the parallel was too close _not_ to mean something.

I think a lot of people forget Velaryon's (or haven't read the books) that intermarried with the Targaryen's over the years over and over, So Blood of the Dragon is in their line. Even the Baratheon line have some as the 1st Lord of Storms end was a Dragon Seed himself and the family has married into to the Targaryen family a few times. It's why Robert was able to claim the throne with little push back.
Poor Helaena. Alicent was right this episode thtat she's the best and gentlest of all the Targaryens (the Blacks as well as the Greens), and yet she suffers the most of them all too.

I'm pretty sure they cut something from the funeral. They really made it seem like the head was going to go off. We know that they cut other scenes from the funeral because of a trailer showing the hightowers running from the crowd in their funeral clothing.
In the Song Of ice and Fire Books...The Baby Aegon Targaryen was actually NOT killed By The Mountain...and appeared in Book 5...Now the TV show did not use that plotline...now was it likely that in the BOOKs(to come) that Rhaegar named 2 of is sons Aegon, or would John Snow have a different Targ name? Aemon perhaps?

It wasn't accepted in the Seven Kingdoms even when the Targs did it, but they had dragons, so what could be done about it? Once the Targs were gone, people would frequently mention incest when they were shit-talking the house. "Those crazy-ass, inbred Targs!"
I think they should have had more Heleana from the start, had us really come to love her with more initial storyline. They missed an opportunity to make us truly reel from the murder of her baby. I felt bad for her, but just that. I wasn't vested enough for it to hit like it could have. Still its better than the last season of GOT which was like them spitting on their fans

I think you may have missed some of the more glaring, seemingly purposeful, non-fantasy explanations for why Helaena is acting the way she does at the funeral and why she acts the way she does in general. It’s kind of akin to magical savant syndrome, which, say it with me, class, happens in people on the autism spectrum.
The last ring with no legs could be Daenerys because she’s unable to have children..
No hate- I really did love this channel when there was only the presenters voice, it was refreshing not to see another UA-camr talking at you from the customary UA-camr room/decor, it gave this channel a hint a sophistication others lacked, and now it’s like all the rest.
Not to be mean and I’m sure there’s a good reason, I just don’t look forward to the vids in the same way and it’s lost something for me.

Mainly due to copyright reasons in all honesty. As the vids get longer we get more and more and I’ve spent long nights and weekends trying to re-edit stuff only to then get hit with claims. Most of my week over Xmas was trying to re-edit the die hard breakdown to pass without getting blocked so it’s easier to just cut to our own footage. On top of that I feel like with the way AI is going we’re gonna see an age of authenticity come into play. I feel like we’re in the age of information right now but with the rise of deep fakes and voice cloning it’s gonna get to a point where people naturally go towards people they know are real. Retention is also higher on videos with camera footage too. Whether that’s because people connect more with faces over voices I don’t know but those are the main reasons. Writing this as im out jogging so sorry if the spelling and grammar sucks

With respect to Helaena i feel the writers are taking too many liberties, she isnt a witch, or a psychic/visionary etc but they want to make her one. Changing a character arc in minor bits is ok but changing the deaths, adding extra abilities etc, they may as well just implement a completely new char witha unique name and have full creative license, like they have with the woman aemond sleeps with. There comes a point where you either pay homage to the character or you exclude

Maybe living a vision and seeing the future of kings-landing before her eyes since so much emphasizes was placed on the snow like materials that was being thrown by commoners and their dirty made them look ashy
