Read the script not interpret the plot of the story that’s already has a plot of who won. Based upon the facts in this story and actually reading story line with the photos, it shows Hulk was not his full self controlled by an ear piece and also Superman could be moved by hulk and can also hold his own with hulk. However, we did see that Hulk was getting stronger and Superman noticed that ear piece helped Superman defeat him. We also see Hulk & Superman can keep up with/ each other’s speed. Again neither heroes went all out as themselves. So it’s either a tie or technical knockout (but NOT a bad beat down. It’s a close fight. “God bless. Lord Jesus save me & fill me and keep me, I believe amen.”
I like everything except Hulk punching Superman and him not moving. Not possible for Hulk to hit anything and it not move. Dr. Manhattan told superman. He" have to survive the green behemoth, So not possible to just stand there and take those punches. All in all I loved it. We need D/C Marvel cross overs.

But what's the point of the internet if you can't endlessly argue about why team A is better than team B? (J/K, I agree) (It's Doctor Doom, by the way)
I think someone in one of the earlier comments said that all of the fights in the Giant Sized edition this one is from were orchestrated by Dr. Doom. They also mentioned that we got Batman vs Hulk and Spider-Man vs Wonder Woman in the same issue.
Hulk is notorious for going up against cosmic and interdimensional things which are "unbreakable", at the level of entire universes or gods. He struggles against them, getting angrier and angrier, until eventually his strength reaches a level where he obliterates that which cannot be broken. His strength has a limit at first, but as his rage grows, that limit changes, and has no maximum value at all - purely infinite. Superman's time was running out, but he had enough to solve the problem. Besides, Hulk can't fly or outspeed Supes. Infinite strength isn't enough if Supes uses his entire repertoire.
Nukes are hotter than the sun. & Incredible Hulk has survived Nukes at their epicenter to many times to count. Surviving inside the sun won't be a problem.
What annoys me is people don’t realise Hulk did knock Superman out though. And the second part of the fight did say the outcome was in doubt. People ignore the authors explanation and just look at the pretty pictures. But it did stay, Superman’s body was limp when Hulk punched him across the horizon. That means Superman was knocked out.
Actually he did feel them because he wouldn’t have raised his arm/hand to stop hulk’s punch. I am surmising that Superman could sense that the Hulk’s strength was increasing to a level that could hurt him.
Why? He still didn't win. Superman was more dazed than "knocked out". Comics artistic convention liked to show the heroes and villains laying limp in rubble after taking a big hit like that, probably to fool the reader into thinking they are defeated, then soon they are back in the fight more determined than ever, just like here. This happened frequently in Thor comics, especially in the Eric Masterson Thor/Thunderstrike era.

Hulk has always fascinated me as a character! While infinite strength has been demonstrated by various other beings both in DC & Marvel, does the Hulk's anger get to the point where it ceases to make sense? Like, he gets mad to the point where he's not mad anymore 'coz he realizes it's not worth it? My Two Cents...
I can think of more than a few fights where Hulk tends to think the fight has ended after severely beating someone down and then starts to calm down only to be surprise attacked by the person Hulk thought he KO'ed. Or others where he just loses interest in the fight for any number of reasons.
hulk has a healing factor, so his body can naturally produce infinite amount of hormones that make people mad. theoretically his strength can grow forever, but if you outtax his healing factor, it won't be able to keep him angry enough, so eventually he'll grow apathetic.

It was fun reading about these fights in classic comics and then bragging about how Superman was definitively stronger than the Hulk. Now as a middle-aged adult, I now think of how many human lives were lost and the amount of destruction and financial cost to the city was caused by that battle between Superman and the Hulk.
@@warwarparente4213 I respect your take, but the writers have made this determination. Superman wins most or every 1-on-1 fight between the two of them simply because of popularity. Another DC versus Marvel story pitted Superman vs Thor and the Man of Steel decked Thor with one punch and rendered him unconscious. I don't exactly agree with the outcomes, but the Hulk and Thor will never beat Superman in these crossover DC and Marvel stories.

So first, Superman gets knocked to the other side of the city, right? Then he comes back, not a signle scratch on him and this time, no matter how hard the hulk hits him, Superman doesn't move an inch because now Superman IS PREPARED!!! Again, Superman is as strong as the story needs him to be. Why do DC characters always need time to prepare? Batman could beat any superhero as long as he is prepared????
Ya know, Superman had access to advanced technology back at the Fortress of Solitude. Too bad it never occurred to him (or the writers) that he might be able to cure Bruce Banner of his condition. But on the other hand I guess this just adds to his "A god living among mortal men" syndrome. A conundrum of how little or how much he should do, as well as how many problems should he solve less people lose faith in themselves. Superman probably COULD cure Bruce, but at the same time if he did that what consequences could it lead to? The Hulk might be a lose cannon but he is a lose cannon that is mostly used for good. Like a grenade one lobs at the enemy!
@@seyio1717 This comic literally showed hulks strength rising to a levels of superman in seconds. Modern comics also shows how hulks infinite potential supersedes concepts and break logic entirely. Superman would get hurt one way or another.
Obviously the writer favour Superman in this classic crossover from the early 80s. To argue about the outcome of such a battle is quite pointless, superheroes are inconcistent. Writers got diffrent preferences, the outcome will not be the same. If being objective i belive Hulk and Superman are about even regarding strength, durability and stamina. In my opinion Superman would defeat Hulk because of superior speed and versatility. He may fly, blast heat rays and move very fast, Hulk is limited to brute physical strength. This art is just fantastic. Story wasn't bad either. I've always thought a fight between these two would go something like this. Superman can easily win if he takes Hulk down early but the longer it goes the harder it gets. Again though, this aged very well, just looks fantastic for a 50 year old book.
In the 70s and 80s marvel did hulk wrong this battle if set now after the superman doomsday battle hulk would have destroyed superman because dc comics even said hulk was stronger than doomsday the only way superman can win is to calm the hulk down and make him change back to banner
No this is pre-crisis superman when superman fought doomsday he was 1990s post crisis and significantly weaker no comparison..besides DC wanted supes deleted at that time
Superman has so many ways to destroy the Hulk. The easiest eas would be to pummel him at superspeed, use his x-ray viosion to see what internal organs are the most damaged, and hitvthode at superspeed before they can recover.
You guys are apparently clueless about hulks true strength. Over the years he has become way more powerful. So has Superman. This is an old comic. Since then they have changed dramatically and hulk is more than capable of going toe to toe with Superman. Doesn’t matter about Superman’s speed which honestly would be his only advantage. He doesn’t have the healing factor nor the rage factor that makes him keep getting stronger and stronger and apparently never ends according to the beyonder. So yeah eventually the hulk will win. Superman would not be able to handle the hulks power over time. Superman would have to take him out early. It’s his only chance. Like it or not it’s true.

And it's been stated on panel in a DC comic "A green behemoth stronger than even Doomsday" which is a reference to the Hulk.
Strength alone can end Superman and has in the past.
Spider-man and Superman great book
At least in this comic book. The Hulk was truer in height to the Lou Ferrigno Hulk.

The original Superman
Keep em coming Fernando we need more
I had that book, it was a giant size and I mean giant sized. It was the size of a pizza box (almost), and it was the first time I saw a Marvel/DC crossover.
This was during the Silver Age when Superman had every power known to mankind. The other Marvel vs DC crossover story showcased Post Crisis Superman against Professor Hulk and he barely won. Which is a bit of an embarrassing showing from Superman, considering that Professor Hulk is one of the weakest versions of the Hulk
3 times superman fought hulk he win all of them superman holds back even if he says he doesn’t he he stops holding back he breaks the whole world he can’t set himself lose inside earth
If you're talking about the DC vs Marvel lead up to the Amalgam Universe, that was "still recovering from Doomsday" Superman, and he was hardly at his best either. But you're not wrong.
I had the full four issues set.
They're worth money now.
I had that in giant size.
If you all can take a break from the "Who's better/Stronger argument, maybe one of you can tell me. Who was responsible for the drone that was setting the Hulk off?
But what's the point of the internet if you can't endlessly argue about why team A is better than team B? (J/K, I agree)
(It's Doctor Doom, by the way)
I think someone in one of the earlier comments said that all of the fights in the Giant Sized edition this one is from were orchestrated by Dr. Doom.
They also mentioned that we got Batman vs Hulk and Spider-Man vs Wonder Woman in the same issue.
It was Doom, at his best. Both plans for Hulk and parasite were genius.
It was Dr. Doom, to use the Hulk to free The Parasite from an underground prison he was kept in.
@@robertcoggeshall3071 I read this in my head with manacle laughing in the background
You know I don’t know remember this crossover comic book being published at all in my life or the past.
Thats my favorite Superman! Silverage!
I still have this one.
Ik it’s not canon but it would be pretty cool if it was
What annoys me is people don’t realise Hulk did knock Superman out though.
@@jonathancummings3807 so they are still knocked out? Returning for round two.

@@jasonhearn5818 are we disagreeing here? I agree that superman is crazy op. Pre crisis superman distinction doesn't matter anymore as they are all cannon. super man is smarter than batman and lex. He gained like 10 years of medical experience from 5 mins of reading. Theoretically, superman could spend 1 hour reading 12 books and be a professional in each field the books represent. This was DC/Marvel crossover. I recall reading it, but cannot recall the date.
1981.
The real clash of the titans right there!
Superman also has infinite strength if he constantly absorbs yellow sun radiation he gets even stronger than world breaker hulk .
Yeah apathy happened in I think hulk vs galactus
both will fall against Godzilla.
Did you get a copy of Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong? I strongly recommend. It has that 70’s classic comic vibe. If you enjoyed this comic you will enjoy that a well. Great respect to Superman and Godzilla.

It was fun reading about these fights in classic comics and then bragging about how Superman was definitively stronger than the Hulk. Now as a middle-aged adult, I now think of how many human lives were lost and the amount of destruction and financial cost to the city was caused by that battle between Superman and the Hulk.
Stop being silly, Superman can't handle an incredible, enraged Hulk. Super has limitations, but the monster doesn't.

Superman would come up on top
He’s not stronger
Yep Superman stoped selling.
This fight would go on forever.
Just out of curiosity, if Batman became the Hulk, would his mind be strong enough to be in control?

You should have made Hulk appear in their universe instead, this looked off.
Obviously the writer favour Superman in this classic crossover from the early 80s.
To argue about the outcome of such a battle is quite pointless, superheroes are inconcistent.
