Its nice to see a story about a superman analog that isnt just "err what if superman bad" and actually gives a great reflection about the good inside of us all and what we should aspire to be.

(And arguably Immortal is also a superman analogue, just.. more of a justice league version??) even the most direct 'what if superman was bad' story I can think of, irredeemable, still does more with the concept. in fact, its telling how inspiring a character superman is, that all three stories, atleast in the comic book versions, Come around to implying their bad guy superman coulda been good if circumstances were different. Certainly though, this is a brath of fresh air after the idea of bad superman has been used so often. but tbh, I almost feel like the wave of badguy superman stories is because The Snyder version of superman is so... Detached and unheroic, and thats whats in folks minds these days.

Well its not really Satan but another demon, In the miller verse Satan is another entity. However since the millerverse works in a 7dimensional scale it could be some random multiversal entity.
In some incarnations of Mr. S is very patient and can wait until the person dies to collect the soul. In others, he can collect once the wish is granted - no caveats, no tricks. He always bets on the mortal screwing up. Considering Simon would be dead in a very short amount of time because of MS, he wouldn't have been in a hurry. Monkey is just a demon in a hurry.

More likely a mixture of laziness, obsession, and bad luck, the bad luck being the demon only picked people and concentrated on getting the souls of people who would actually refuse the deal when the time was up. The monkey was too concentrated on simon to consider the fact the demon had already made two more deals and could have just taken *their* souls instead. The monkey funny enough wasn't greedy enough because he concentrated too much on simon that he made the mistake of going 'why would i need your souls when i can have the superiors' when if he kept to getting their souls at least he would have brought two souls to hell.
The same “boy is shunned, boy is sad, boy gets power, boy want to make world better, boy struggles with power, boy learns how to use power fully, boy is happy” thing in this book i read called “Simon Bloom: The Gravity Keeper” it even has the same MC name!

personally for me this story was probably my favorite mark miller story that actually has one of the characters be a nice person which i was happy about that but that's just my opinion

The lack of an established and controlled continuity for the character, both in behaviors and abilities has been my main annoyance when trying to enjoy the DC universe timeline of events, even events that are just within a few years of each other. I have no hate for Superman; I do enjoy the character, I just feel these recurring soft reboots to the power scaling and the character's personality seem to usually detract from the current story, at least initially as the reader is left to figure out what kind of Superman they are going to be following and how stable the metrics/feats and persona will be throughout the run.
I don't like the whole devil angle of it, though I do like the idea of the soul being at stake. i would make it a bit more Eldritch in nature or cosmic horror-y. Still a great story!
