I think it's a pretty big upgrade... the lens alone are worth the switch in my humble opinion... they make such a huge difference in clarity... especially if you've never used pancake lens before

for me switching from Quest2 to Pico4 was a gamechanger (for balance, weight and pancake-Lenses) the quest3 pancake-lenses should be even better, better e2ec than the pico4 ones.. so for me thats a huge point.. using vr since 8 years, started with vive.. and bad e2ec was always anoing me.. so for me: even it was only the lenses, i would upgrade.. but the Quest3 does nearly everything better than the Quest2 (E2EC, FOV, Colors, comfort, Power, controllers, tracking, Sound, passthrough, depthsensor, resolution, SDE, discspace, 2 displays, ipd) - its a huge upgrade, nearly every aspect of the Quest2 was improved

Plus they specified double the maximum clock speed of the q2 processor. That processor has been throttled to 75 percent performance, so we are getting a much much better experience.
The Quest 3 is a very big upgrade in almost every way to the Quest 2. It's not like going from an iPhone 14 to 15 it's like going from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 15. Pancake lenses, depth sensor, full color pass through, higher resolution, better speakers, bigger FOV, much faster processor, more ram, 40% thinner, improved controllers, bigger IPD range with easier adjustment and more. That's a massive upgrade form the Quest 2.
... less SDE, more Discspace, better displaycolors, AV1 codec, Wifi 6e, less latency for pcVR, 2 dispalys) it seems everything, every spec-point of the quest2 has been improved

Also the quest 2 is getting a super resulation mode (kinda like DLSS and FSR) and a 20% gpu boost. Quest 2 controllers are already hard to break (thrillseeker made a video about the durablilty) and with the quest 3 jamming everything inside a smaller factor, there is more of a chance of you breaking more parts in the controller than the quest 2 controllers. Also TruTouch is probably gonna function simillar to nintendos HD rumble and the adaptive triggers on the PS5 into one according to hands on reviews so far, and just like the adaptive triggers on the PS5 they some times cause problems and faults in the controller. (some times less is more ) I agree the quest 3 is too simillar to the quest 2, but please don't compare the iphone 15 pros to iphone 14 pros models as they have a new chip THAT IS PROBABLY FASTER THAN UR GAMING PC and can do RTX (real time ray tracing). There are CONSOLE games coming to the ihpne like the new Asissan Creed game coming out later.

Ya it’s kinda the same but the graphics are way better and it’s 2x the quest 2 graphics. And that’s a huge deal for vr because immersion is very important and graphics are a big part of that. Also mixed reality will be cool to see how it works but the graphics is why I’m buying one.

You don't have to lie. The passthrough can't handle light whatsoever. The graphics are surpassed by low-end android phones. The tracking is pretty good, though.

I call bullcrap on all this OQ2 bashing. The Q2 a few years ago was the most amazing VR set anyone had ever seen. I remember Best Buy had a wall to wall line in store of ppl going crazy for a chance to experience it, and none were disappointed. I bought one and LOVED everything about it. The 3 indeed will be a massive upgrade but years later it should be. The Q2 is still an amazing device to play/watch for years. PS: We are so spoiled as a society. Imagine being 75k feet high in the sky in a paramotor complaining there's no windshield wipers. 🤦🏽♂️
And there is no 72hz mode....this is very importend for PcVR Users with medium specs. 90hz needs much more Performance and this means you cant use higher Resolution even if the Q3 has better Specs....i think i overjump the q3 until new GPU came out....AR is the same like Handtraking for me.....cool....but after a while only a gadet....
Me personally, I’ve already preordered it as I bought the quest way back when it was released and battery life and quality is starting to get a little bit worn out and I think it was time for an upgrade. It definitely is an investment though. if your happy with your headset, stick with it.

I am probably going to sell my Quest 2 to save up and buy a Quest 3, i think this upgrade is worth it. Because i wear glasses, and a lot of games i play have some terrible graphics (since games have like Bonelab have to make a lot of compromisesqq in order to run at a playable framerate and "ok" resolution) some games are pretty blurred and the laggy UI really doesnt really let me enjoy playing on the Quest 2.

Thinking I might make the same jump. I'm not at all thrilled with how Facebook/Meta treated our Rift S, but there are few companies releasing such affordable units. My Rift S kept having cables die on it (common failure point that they haven't regularly sold for a few years now), so I'd love to try out a wireless alternative. Just hoping it is up to snuff for PCVR, as I'm not really interested in the Meta ecosystem over Steam.

@@ajajpk Complete bullshit, the Xbox 360 had 0.24 teraflops of power, the Xbox One had 1.4 Teraflops, and the Quest 3 has 2.4 teraflops. The Quest 3 is AT LEAST 5-8x more powerful than a 360, probably more around 10x. The problem isn't the headset performance, it's the games. The average budget of a high quality Xbox 360 game is 100 times higher than that of a Quest 3 game. Doesn't matter how powerful the hardware if the software is shit.
After using the quest3 for 4 hrs I can say there is a massive improvement, coming from the quest1. Smaller, better image quality, etc. But 2 things I dont' like. When using the quest3 watching Netflix in bed, I can hear the fans blowing from time to time. The noise is disturbing and loud. Second, the battery is less strong than the Quest1. Also the store is loading very slow and don't show the previews of the games.
I just bought the quest 2 a few months ago first time trying vr and i didn't even know quest 3 was gonna comeout probably just gonna wait a year or two to buy it
I bought mine this year as well and knew the 3 would come out. I think the 2 is a GREAT stepping stone to see if you like VR enough to spend more on it. Because if I had not bought the 2, I’d feel way more reluctant to shell out the money for the 3. Also, you can sell or give the 2 to someone else who you may want to get into VR. That’s just my opinion though. I think 2 is still nice, but 3 is about to blow it out of the water

The q3 is slightly heavier but due to the low center of mass it doesnt feel heavier at all

Me personally, I’ve already preordered it as I bought the quest way back when it was released and battery life and quality is starting to get a little bit worn out and I think it was time for an upgrade. It definitely is an investment though. if your happy with your headset, stick with it.
I'm in the same boat. My launch day Q2's battery life is dwindling. I think a lot of people will be in the same boat soon

I am probably going to sell my Quest 2 to save up and buy a Quest 3, i think this upgrade is worth it. Because i wear glasses, and a lot of games i play have some terrible graphics (since games have like Bonelab have to make a lot of compromisesqq in order to run at a playable framerate and "ok" resolution) some games are pretty blurred and the laggy UI really doesnt really let me enjoy playing on the Quest 2.

My last VR headset was Rift S, when i checked specs i just say 'wow i buy it' now just wait for the courier, for me there is no cons to not buy :D
Thinking I might make the same jump. I'm not at all thrilled with how Facebook/Meta treated our Rift S, but there are few companies releasing such affordable units. My Rift S kept having cables die on it (common failure point that they haven't regularly sold for a few years now), so I'd love to try out a wireless alternative. Just hoping it is up to snuff for PCVR, as I'm not really interested in the Meta ecosystem over Steam.

im really into vr, i actually might buy it because i think this quest will last longer and age better than the others, from what ive seen it looks to be around the visuals of like a ps4/xbox 1 game

@@ajajpk Complete bullshit, the Xbox 360 had 0.24 teraflops of power, the Xbox One had 1.4 Teraflops, and the Quest 3 has 2.4 teraflops.
The Quest 3 is AT LEAST 5-8x more powerful than a 360, probably more around 10x.
The problem isn't the headset performance, it's the games. The average budget of a high quality Xbox 360 game is 100 times higher than that of a Quest 3 game. Doesn't matter how powerful the hardware if the software is shit.

After using the quest3 for 4 hrs I can say there is a massive improvement, coming from the quest1. Smaller, better image quality, etc. But 2 things I dont' like. When using the quest3 watching Netflix in bed, I can hear the fans blowing from time to time. The noise is disturbing and loud. Second, the battery is less strong than the Quest1. Also the store is loading very slow and don't show the previews of the games.
I just bought the quest 2 a few months ago first time trying vr and i didn't even know quest 3 was gonna comeout probably just gonna wait a year or two to buy it

I bought mine this year as well and knew the 3 would come out. I think the 2 is a GREAT stepping stone to see if you like VR enough to spend more on it. Because if I had not bought the 2, I’d feel way more reluctant to shell out the money for the 3.
Also, you can sell or give the 2 to someone else who you may want to get into VR.
That’s just my opinion though. I think 2 is still nice, but 3 is about to blow it out of the water
