I always perfered the lite version of this challenge where you can put in roundabouts every once in awhile as just a random bulge on the road. That way people can turn around without having to go down the entire road.
Yes this. I wanna see optimised. Maybe do a long straight road grid thing with round abouts on certain turns. Subways. Paths. Then maybe break quadrants with larger lanes
@@Superboy-jx3zv pedestrian paths would have limited functionality without junctions allowing road crossings. unless you used bridges, but matt didnt seem to even want to cross the road over itself.
In Germany we still have incredible small villages, some arent even on maps because they are wo small, they dont count as one 😂 one of my friends lives in a village with his family and only 5 other people, and they finally got a official village sign, before they only had a selfmade wood sign

It really really helps to keep things close for everyone. You need more "The Line" type thinking, everyone should be with in a reasonable range to all amenities, never 500k km away... lol
Impressive to see an engineer start laying down road without even looking up what patterns can be used to maximize coverage of an area with a single line. Truly, the work of an architect.
I know, and he started another game which looks really interesting but he only gave us the first episode and the others are patreon exclusive. All the good series are patreon exclusive. 😢
I wouldn’t say expensive but as someone who isn’t willing to pay that much to watch someone play a game properly, I understand . We might as well do a 1 time purchase of Cities skylines 2 instead of patreon
It would be interesting to see the worst traffic you can engineer. Like two massive cities, one purely residential one purely commercial, only connected by a single two way dirt road.
The closer the roads are together, the less space you have for building. So some of the essential buildings that are larger wouldn't fit, and the noise complaints would skyrocket by people living so close to each other.
Love it! Just one thing, your brightnes is so high that, when you are in build mode, we can‘t see any zone areas until you colored them in or build something on top of it
Just a thought. If you don't have to build the circular road roundabouts anymore, would placing the roundabout islands on the road count as adding a junction? I would argue that it is still a continuous road, but with obstacles!
Matt: "This is like a proper actual city!" Me (looking at all the parallel parking): "...with an entire lane of traffic in each direction set to a speed limit of 0." Parallel parking is the single biggest urban mistake since the invention of the automobile. And yes, the automobile was an urban mistake too.
Right on the release as well! My game is downloading and this is a perfect way to pass the time, thinking about all the cool stuff I will soon be able to build
Oh oh oh... an idea to ace this challenge... I know it's silly but Round Abouts... it keeps it a single road BUT allows people to turn around without having to go stupid far. Also since there is only one road going into and out of the round abouts they technically wouldn't be a junction so much as a legal turn around along a singular road. It would also greatly help with Public Transportation to allow for multiple smaller circuit routes.
Could’ve allowed Roundabouts to make it easily accessible for everyone other than just going all the way to the end of road which gradually get longer and longer 😅
You should pick random spots and just put in some roundabouts so people can turn around more. It wasn't as easy in the first game, but its a totally legit strategy for this challenge. You're not putting an intersection, just a little nob.

So, quick thing. The green that appears when you place down a service building, like a fire house or police station, is for property value calculations, not coverage of the city. Tho, with 1 road, multiple make sense.
I would love to see your best optimised system of this. With sub ways and footpaths and maybe even the river to cheat the snake road. Also what would be best. I.e this crazy version or lines of lanes perfectly apart with 15 minute city's poking up out the sprawl like contors on a map

It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).
