Still love and I mean love the diversity in your channel bruh keep the love going and I will always love and support you.
Thanks appreciate it 🙏🏽‼️
I met him at a club in Richmond VA.his eyes are unbelievable.
john dean yes!
@@johndean4727 They really are!
"Bruh"? Idiot.
Boy George was one of the most flamboyant people in music when this came out. He shocked a lot of people, and that's what I loved about him.
@Hillary's emails to Lorne I prefer George's 80s voice. It was so smooth. I miss it
@Hillary's emails to Lorne He did have a good gimmick to make him stand out, but he also had the talent to back it up.
@Hillary's emails to Lorne That's true. I loved his style at this point in time. All I'm saying is there wasn't anyone else out there in music like him, topped with incredible songs and talent, there was no way he wasn't going to be successful.
@@allisonjae3152 Yea, it wasn't a gimmick though, as he was dressing like this as a teen.
@@jaywillingham4085 No, but the press would think it is. He just stood out more because of his look.
U reaching to every genre that's where its at don't close ya ears
I agree
Wow. Whatever school you may have graduated from should be defunded and closed.
Yes!
@@paulvalentine1483 If you can't be nice, then begone.
You said it, “Be open and don’t miss out on things like this.” Wise words young man.
You're listening to Culture Club, you need to get some WHAM in your life. "Wake me up before you go go" and "Everything She wants". Also listen to George Michael "Faith", "Freedom" and "Fast love"
Yes to all you suggested great songs and artists
They reacted to Father Figure ♡ ua-cam.com/video/GJuaG4dFQ7g/v-deo.html
They reacted to Father Figure and Freedom 90.
Me I vote for WHAM too!
Club Tropicana, Careless wisper and last Christmas are my favorites.
Another Culture Club song to check out: Do You Really Want To Hurt Me.
Black Money. Boy was so smooth on both of these & his background singers ad libs are insane.
My jam!
Yes please!!
@@LG-kx8xl Helen Terry made black money great!!!! Big voice sounds like a black American woman!!
Miss me blind is my favorite!
You are very cool. I'm happy to see these young men out there spreading joy. I'm 70 and feel a lot of hope for the future with fellas like this. Making your way with spirit and adventure. keep up the good work.
Aren’t you awesome!!! It does give hope to a joyous world that really has no boundaries, but a feeling of unity. Keep on keeping on! 😇 God Bless!
NO! This is not how we was dressing back then / Boy George was unique, even then!
I had a (female) friend in high school who loved Boy George so much that she dressed like him - but she also had a huge crush on him and swore up and down that he was straight! XD
Boy Geotge was unique and lots of fans copied his style. The rest of the cast in this video were in the right style of clothes for this period in Mississippi...
Speak for yourself Trish! While he was and still is unique, I was a mixture of Boy George, Madonna and Pete Burns of Dead or Alive.
There were a LOT of Boy George wannabes in the eighties.
He’s probably talking about the other people. They look ridiculous. And yes that is how they dressed
"Do you really wanna hurt me?" was their first hit. Check it out!
Definitely!!!!
Oooh yes. That one really slaps! ❤️
@@terifaye4494 yes love that one also
Yes, yes yesss!!!

The fact that you react to such a diversity of music puts you in a class by yourself. You getting into the songs is priceless. If you’re a representative of your generation....the future looks bright.
I completely agree. You guys are great! Love seeing your reactions!
There are HUNDREDS of channels like/better than this, and their hosts don't pander to the lowest common denominator.

Speaking of “George” pleeeaaase listen to a George Michael song- preferably “Faith”!! Another true 80’s song!! 👍🏻
Was just going to suggest this one!
Faith is one of my favorite songs! 😍
I'd love to see his reaction to Freedom 90. Fantastic video and song.
Amy Maddux one more try
Y'all, they did it, already! 🥰 Search, if you haven't.
Edit: not "Faith" but George Michael..."Freedom '90" I think.
I’d nominate anything by Duran Duran from the 80s.
Hungry Like The Wolf
I was going to post the same thing. Just pick any song, they’re all good!
I loved Duran Duran! Thank you for the reminder!
Hungry Like The Wolf was my favorite song as a child. From like age 6 until probably my teens when I branched out into rap and metal. But my absolutely favorite Duran Duran song of all time is probably Come Undone, great video too. There is another song called Come Undone by Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, which was from like 2010. Both are slow, Duran Duran comes from a sort of frantic drowning overwhelmed feeling in life, whereas Campbell and Lanegan are talking about a relationship.
Another great video would U2 Numb. That song is ridiculous- if you don't react to it, you should watch it anyway- with lyrics. The other U2 song I recommend is The Sweetest Thing, it's about domestic violence a man experiences by the woman he loves.
The Chauffeur was a B side but definitely one of their best
I envy you for the fact that you get to hear these amazing songs for the first time!
Same!!! I was extremely envious of hearing Jimi & LedZep for the first time!!
Word!!
RIGHT?
Great point!!!!!
Me too
No, that's not really how we dressed, not exactly. Boy George was pretty extreme, even for the 80's.
He meant the 1870s, when the video is set lol
I was in high school when this came out. Crazy back then being gay was so hush hush, I don't recall ever having a discussion on his sexuality, it just wasn't a topic, at least with my friends, We just loved his songs.
I agree, we didn't even think about it back then
So u like around 55
Yeah, we didn't discuss it cause it was apparent from how he dressed, and his talent outshined any of that anyway. Just like we all figured about George Michael...but he could SING so we didn't have time to dwell on his personality.
That's the difference then and now, these new artists gotta super promote what kinda person they like for an audience because they lack so much in the talent end.
As a gay guy just coming out in 1985, you are correct, it was just not talked about at all. And some of us felt very alone. Thank goodness when I finally met other gays!
React to Pay Bennatar..Love is a Battlefield
OMG yes!
Pat Bennatar's very good.
Yes yes!
Great suggestion & excellent video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
She spells her name Pat Benatar
One of the greatest songs to come out of the 80s.
In an interview, Culture Club frontman Boy George explained: "The song is about the terrible fear of alienation that people have, the fear of standing up for one thing. It's about trying to suck up to everybody. Indicative of the times then, and now.
Lots of people in this thread talking like Boy George is not still around. He very much is. He survived the HIV pandemic when his community was ravaged, he survived addiction, he survived numerous bouts with the law, and vocal issues that permanently changed his voice. He's still touring (well, pre COVID), and obviously so grateful to be here doing what he loves, writing great music, and posting tons of vegan food on insta.
Yep, I got to see CC in concert in Sep 2018. They were great! Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins) was the opener. Two of my faves from the 80s.
Hes a judge on The Voice Australia
And highly intelligent. Some of his interviews from back in the day blew me away.
He's a treasure. ♥️💛💚
Also saw the 2018 CC tour with Tom Bailey & Belinda Carlisle appearing as "support " acts. George's voice completely different but loved the new arrangements to accommodate his change in pitch
You should hear Dead Or Alive "You Spin Me Round," Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams," David Bowie "Let's Dance," Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse Of The Heart," Laura Branigan "Self Control"
Jose Promis A little Billy Idol is good too.
shiloh kimball STEVIE NICKS!
Hell yeah,but Laura Brannigan,Gloria
All of them are bangers!!!
You've got my suggestion list already!
Take a listen to “You Can Call Me Al,” b y Paul Simon, Graceland Album. Heck, listen to the entire album!
That is an AMAZING AND UNDERATED SONG. MY FATHER LOVED Chevy in the video and all his Lil mishaps...
I loathe that track ...
Yes!!!
Bridge over troubled water w art garfunkel whose voice is angelic

One of the funniest videos, such a shame they don't make great comedic videos anymore.
This guy never got his due. I think he finally is. He was a person the likes of which we'd never seen before. Great great vocalist
LOL If you want to wonder what the 80's were like when it came to music, get confused by Men Without Hats 'Safety Dance.'
@Siobhan Fogarty We can dance. We can dance. Everybody look at your hands
Definitely! Like a "Lord Of The Rings" before it happened.
But we can dance if we want to!
Try Adam Ant “Goody Two Shoes”. It came out around the same time.
I second this - was going to suggest some Adam Ant too and Goody Two Shoes is my favourite!!! He still sounds like nothing else before or since.
Julie Dawson I saw him in concert two years ago. I walked in liking him, I left LOVING him. He sounded amazing and put on a great show!
@@anmarievolante4438 I went to see him a few years ago with a much younger friend (I was late 30s at the time, she was about 10 years younger). She had never heard of him and had zero expectations, just a free ticket and night out with a friend. She was totally blown away.
Yep loved Adam ant
Yes I'm a huge Adam Ant fan

there was a lot of gayness in the 80s. I'm not gay but I enjoyed it immensely
@avenueb...The funniest thing Boy George said in a interview was why is America so surprised by him??? You guys gave us Liberace !
@@xoxxobob61 I cant TELL how many times George mentioned Liberace and MJ in his interviews 😂😂
My brother is straight as a board but he dresses as boy George and went out for Halloween. He got more females coming up to him then he ever had LOL

lol the singer is Boy George. he always dressed like that. He still does some of the makeup today :D. That was HIS thing, though the 80's over all were pretty wild with hair, makeup and clothes XD. And yea this song has been in a few movies and series :)
This song was in movies and TV shows? I has no idea. You know which ones?
@@lessismore8533 Most recently I think was Scary Movie 4? There was a rediculous scene with a big tripod monster that played it lol. They actually performed it in person during an episode of the A-Team back in the day and I know I heard it in Dexter. I THINK also in 3rd Rock? Most of the ones I remember are vague memories because they were YEARS ago lol.
I've seen him on The Voice and he is aging well.
Victoria Allen he’s always been pretty :) he also has some makeup skills. I’ve always loved him.
@@victoriaallen8271 I agree about him aging well, his matured style is pretty iconic.
“In the Church of the Poison Mind” - you’ll love it.
Red, gold and green are found in a lot of African nation's flags (originally Ethiopia). Today, the colors and flags are sometimes used to represent black pride or black liberation.
Jewish tribe
In Guyana, the flag is red, gold, green, yellow and black. From what I heard, the red is the blood of the people, the gold reps the sun and the green reps the earth.
Red is the blood shed during their independence. Yellow is the gold taken from the African lands and green is represented by rebuilding the nation with green lands
Catherine Macnie and they are the colours a chameleon turns into😍😍
@@dexter3865 As a Jew, I have no idea what you're talking about.
As a person who grew up in the 80s, thanks for giving this music a chance.
The red stands for the blood of black martyrs that were shed around the world during their struggle for liberation, equal rights, and justice. Yellow represents the wealth of the homeland, Africa, particularly the gold. … and finally the green represents the beauty and the vegetation of the promise land, Ethiopia

Looks like you are a fan of the 80’s pop music. I’m a child of the 80’s myself and I’ve totally enjoyed your reaction to the music, hair, and style. 💙❤️ Love your channel!!!
You, young man, are the BOMB!!! I love how open you are to music of every genre and every time period. It's such a joy to see your willingness to explore. I suggest you find someone who can explain the importance of the music and artists you discover. That would make your quest for knowledge much more appetizing.
You probably heard this at the mall or in a food joint or riding in someone's car or... It's been everywhere :)
This song has been featured in several movies. The Wedding Singer was a movie that showcased a lot of 80s music so maybe you heard it in that movie if you've seen it. If you haven't seen it you should watch it.
I'd love to hear you react to Joy Division, maybe Atmosphere or Love Will Tear Us Apart
you should react to the gambler by Kenny Rogers - he just passed away this weekend
I love his more recent song with Dolly Parton, "Can't Make Old Friends." :)

Kenny Rogers - Lady is incredible!
Love will turn you around by Kenny Rogers. Its the theme song from the movie six pack it's about a pack of kids that are orphaned that a 17 year old is trying to care for and the sheriff of the town is making them strip cars and sell parts so that he doesn't separate them and put them in orphanages Kenny Rogers comes along and he's a racecar driver headed to a race stops at a store and his car gets stripped I want to find the kids that did it he realizes the situation and he makes them his pit crew needless to say the sheriff isn't happy about that it's an awesome movie in an amazing number one hit song

I was born in 1991 but 1st heard this song in like 2005. I think its one of the best 80s hits! I hope you like it too! 80s teens are so lucky! I heard it was released in the month of July. I KNEW it sounded like a summer song. To me, it also sounds like a celebration song 🤣
Actually a better song by Culture Club is the one Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?
I Love "Time Clock of the Heart"
This is what I LOVE about you, Tim. I have heard this song a zkazillion times, on the radio when it was new, and beyond. I never, ever wondered what "red, gold and green" was about. LOL! Right out of your mouth it fell. Haha! I was just dancing.
First of all, there was a movement called New Romantic in the 80s which drew inspiration from neo-romanticism of late 1800s but the video is a mix of these eras, it didn't really look like this in the 80s or the 1800s. What comes to red, gold and green, they are the colors of the rastafari movement which Boy George (the singer) was into, that's why he had those dreadlocks. The red stands for the blood of black martyrs that was shed around the world during their struggle for liberation, equal rights and justice. Yellow represents the wealth of the homeland, Africa, particularly gold. And finally the green represents the beauty and the vegetation of the promise land, Ethiopia.
Boy George explained in an interview that the song is about "the terrible fear of alienation that people have, the fear of standing up for one thing. It's about trying to suck up to everybody. Basically, if you aren't true, if you don't act like you feel, then you get Karma justice, that's nature's way of paying you back.” Based on this I would conclude that the chameleon refers to these people who change opinions according to their current company. George also dated the band's drummer when he wrote this. They had relationship problems, the person was sweet to him in private but distant and stand-offish in public. George was bothered that they couldn't show affections in open.
Nice explanation!!!
You are the MVP! This sheds so much light on this song, i was really young when this came out, i loved it but i didnt really understand the meaning behind it. I still love this song and it was really nice to get this perspective of the singer and the song. Thank you indeed !
Yes boy george and John moss were dating even though John moss denied it but there is a pic of them kissing and several photos catching them being intimate
Wow, thanks for this.
Thank you. Well explained 🙏🏽
I first heard this song when it came out I didn't appreciate it at the time . Yet now it reminds me of a great time of my life and a girl I used to adore
Me as a little kid in the 80’s: Mon is that a girl?

"In an interview, Culture Club frontman Boy George explained: "The song is about the terrible fear of alienation that people have, the fear of standing up for one thing. It's about trying to suck up to everybody. Basically, if you aren't true, if you don't act as you feel, then you get Karma-justice, that's nature's way of paying you back." In response to claims from singer-songwriter Jimmy Jones that the song plagiarizes his hit "Handy Man", George stated, "I might have heard it once, but it certainly wasn't something I sat down and said, 'Yeah, I want to copy this.'" In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Boy George revealed that he wrote the song while he was on vacation in Egypt and that the other members of Culture Club were initially hesitant to record it as they felt it sounded like a country and western song.
The harmonica part was played by Judd Lander, who had been a member of the Merseybeat group The Hideaways in the 1960s. The song was originally to be called "Cameo Chameleon"; the band was recorded in interviews in mid-1983 stating this was to be the title of their next single. "

Always liked Boy George. Back in the day when he 1st appeared on the scene, I thought “who’s this guy in drag looking like Brooke Shields?” LOL 😆
Boy George was a revolutionary
You don't know who Boy George is? My late father saw this on TV one day. He stated he wasn't too fond of his outfits but he said that boy can sing. I believe my dad was in his 70's at the time. He was also a singer but mostly gospel.
This was the 1st ever record that my parents bought for me when I was 6 its was this and Kenny Rogers Coward of the County...I miss 80's parenting!!!!
“That’s how they were dressing back in the day?” He hasn’t a clue who Boy George is. 😂
I think I was around 11 when this song came out, was playing everywhere, im 44 now. “ do you really wanna hurt me” was another catchy hit from Boy George!

I was dressed and like Boy George about 6 months, including hair and make up. I loved it, my parents hated it. 🤣🤣
Boy George was a performer very hard to categorize - always loved dress up, and this video more of a costume party than anything historical. Even in the 80’s he was more imaginative than most, and we loved this song. Glad you put it out there. Good reaction!
