I read a story somewhere about when Eurythmics toured the U.S. back then. I think it was Detroit, the home of Motown music, but because of the way music was being marketed at that time, the audience was nearly all white. The story said Annie Lennox asked “Where are all the Black people?” She was heartbroken because she thought the Black community didn’t care for her music. Truth was, they just hadn’t heard it because of 80’s radio programming. Compare that to the 70s where you had everything mixed up and everybody listened.

Coming after us olds with all these 80s hits, lol. Don't leave out when Annie Lennox did Walking on Broken Glass- that song was my song for several years.
"Walking on Broken Glass" is a fucking BOP. So much so, that rapper Sammy Adams sampled it 18 years later on his song "Driving Me Crazy" and it still sounds fresh af.

Annie Lennox is SO GOOD. "Walking on Broken Glass" is a banger, and "Why" is more quiet/slow but still incredible vocally and lyrically. You should do one of those two songs!
And for a twist - find the cover of this song done by Marilyn Manson. (Original is better though) I love your reaction to 80s songs! Maybe Duran Duran next?
Annie Lennox is a pretty amazing human being with one of the greatest voices ever. In addition to being a talented performer, she's a political activist, a philanthropist and is still as cool as she was 35 yrs ago. PLEASE(!) give Nancy Wilson/Heart's performance of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center a listen. It's one of the greatest rock performances of all time and it's literally brought the rock gods who wrote the iconic songs to tears. It'll give you goosebumps, I promise!
@@brigittehuard4902 Oh yes it did! I remember I was maybe no more than five or six years old when this song was new. It was one of the first songs I remember singing to on the radio. Brit new wave started way before. Yaz, depche mode, siousxie, cure, howard jones, brian eno, style council, duran duran, flock of seagulls. Adam ant to erasure
You need to hear George Michael’s voice. It was a natural wonder! I’d recommend “One More Try” or his version of Stevie Wonder’s “They Won’t Go When I Go” “Careless Whisper” is timeless!
The best time I saw her sing was on TV , Just her and microphone. Fantastic. Love Annie, best voice of many. To talk about the other half of the group, Dave Stewart went on to have other bands, and was a great producer for some great bands in England.
Back in the 80's I was a professional cellist. I got a call from Countdown (an iconic music show in Australia) to be in a film clip. They gave me the song to listen to and asked if I could work out the cello part and play it for the film clip. I listened to the song over and over and couldn't hear a cello. I asked the singer and composer of the song, Tim Finn: mate, I can't hear a cello. His answer: you're right there's no cello. Me: Oh, you mean that synth line? Yeah, I got it..
Tears for Fears is amazing! Definitely Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Woman in Chains, or Head over Heels! Have you guys ever listened to Depeche Mode? Personal Jesus is fantastic.
If you're gonna react to Tears for Fears, it has gotta be Mad World not Everyone Wants to Rule the World... Im sorry but Mad World is so much more powerful lyrically
Actually that is a Prince song, he wrote it and recorded it. I like this recording better, but find Chris Cornell's live version re ecorded live. He is the best. But not many people could sing like Chris.
"Here Comes The Rain Again" is one of my all time favorite songs by Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics! Highly recommend that track if you enjoyed this one.
Their reaction is exactly how I reacted when I first heard this in 83. It still gives me goosebumps. Timeless. So cool that you listened on my birthday.

And for a twist - find the cover of this song done by Marilyn Manson. (Original is better though) I love your reaction to 80s songs! Maybe Duran Duran next?
Those songs were ahead of their time, fo sho.
IMO, "Hungry Like the Wolf" made MTV, because the video was unlike anything we'd ever experienced!
Love them both. One of my all time favorite songs
80s yes - react to Blondie!
I love Marilyn Manson, but I don't know if they are ready for that.
I like their joy..! Lol
Brilliant that Annie Lennox acknowledged their review on her face book.great song, great artist and still is...come on phil collins!!
Annie’s vocals were so ethereal. Love the eurythmics
Great recommend!
Absolutely!
The important thing to remember - Nothing else had ever sounded like this before ... groundbreaker ... trailblazer.
So very true! This is one of the songs that has had tremendous influence on my own work over the years. 😊💎💖
This blew everyone's mind! It was so fresh and new.
@@brigittehuard4902 Oh yes it did! I remember I was maybe no more than five or six years old when this song was new. It was one of the first songs I remember singing to on the radio. I'd belt it out at the top of my lungs and it shocked my family because of the lyrics, but I liked the song and wasn't going to stop! 😊💎💖
Brit new wave started way before. Yaz, depche mode, siousxie, cure, howard jones, brian eno, style council, duran duran, flock of seagulls. Adam ant to erasure
@@Songcrafter25 My dad immediately fell in love with her voice. I was just a kid too when this came out and we played it a lot at home.
Annie Lennox has one of the best voices in the world!! Glad you listened to her!!
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Give It Away” absolutely gotta listen!
YES
Snow by RHCP love it
Yes
PLEASE!!!!!!💥💥💥🎉💫🤯
They would love this!!!
They need to listen to her sing "Why" - that song is gorgeous.
Beyond gorgeous
YEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!
Great song
brilliant song
That and the first note from "No More I Love You's"--OMG! Crystal clear perfection!
OMG hilarious reaction. Annie Lennox is a legend, a true original.
I remember the first time I saw/heard "Sweet Dreams". It was exactly like this. Extremely impressive from the very first second.
Annie Lennox has one of the most beautiful vocals in history.
You need to hear George Michael’s voice. It was a natural wonder! I’d recommend “One More Try” or his version of Stevie Wonder’s “They Won’t Go When I Go” “Careless Whisper” is timeless!
"Jesus to a child" by George Michael is beautiful
They Won’t Go When I Go - both his and Stevie’s are my absolute favorite
His cover of “I Can’t Make You Love Me”. So good.
Definitely- try “This is not real love (feat. Mutya)”
Yes, or Cowboys and Angels - just beautiful.
I’m a late 90s kid and this shit bangs, I grew up listening to the 80s and love it!
The best time I saw her sing was on TV ,
Just her and microphone. Fantastic.
Love Annie, best voice of many.
To talk about the other half of the group, Dave Stewart went on to have other bands, and was a great producer for some great bands in England.
80s music be like:
"We need a cello for this part"
*flips switch on keyboard*
"Ready"
Back in the 80's I was a professional cellist. I got a call from Countdown (an iconic music show in Australia) to be in a film clip. They gave me the song to listen to and asked if I could work out the cello part and play it for the film clip. I listened to the song over and over and couldn't hear a cello. I asked the singer and composer of the song, Tim Finn: mate, I can't hear a cello. His answer: you're right there's no cello. Me: Oh, you mean that synth line? Yeah, I got it..
Congrats on the shoutout from Annie freaking Lennox!!! Amazing! I love your reactions so much... So much positivity being spread! Thank you!!!
That is one of my fave songs. Also, check out Everyone Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears.
Yeah and woman in chains!
YESSSSSSS
Yes!!
Annie Lennox and David Bowie - Under Pressure. Is good too..........
Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares to you a listen
Actually that is a Prince song, he wrote it and recorded it. I like this recording better, but find Chris Cornell's live version re ecorded live. He is the best. But not many people could sing like Chris.
Most people know that was written by Prince. While I love him, I hate his version of that song. Sinead's is another level.
@@lindawilliams2211 yes
they did do one. loved their reaction to it.
@@olliojenarter Blasphemy!
Please react to "Would I Lie To You?" GREAT song. Annie Lenox has such a powerful voice.
"Here Comes The Rain Again" is one of my all time favorite songs by Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics! Highly recommend that track if you enjoyed this one.
another awesome 80s song❤❤❤❤
Some others to listen to are:
The Cranberries - Zombie or Ode to my Family
The Bad Wolves cover of Zombies, I recommended that the other day!!
@@christinisamathnerd literally any Cranberries song, Delores voice so powerful
Zombie for sure
Yes you must do Zombie!
Yes please!
Their reaction is exactly how I reacted when I first heard this in 83. It still gives me goosebumps. Timeless. So cool that you listened on my birthday.
Revolutionary in its day, especially Annie's choice of wardrobe.
She's great but the WHOLE look came straight from Grace Jones. Suit and hair and all. Cept Annie went orange.
