pretty cool. I played live back in the 80s and the van was packed with gear.
Love your channel Max. I am an early adopter of this amp, it was released in Dec and I got it then. It's exactly like you say, very good. I don't think it's too expensive, you get a lot for the $$$. I used to practice using Spark-40 before, but now I'm using the Mighty Space. One thing that I hope they will do tho, is develop a community for sharing tons like Positive Grid does. Hopefully you can forward them this feedback.
I am looking to either buy the Spark 40 or this Mighty Space, idk which one to go for though. I am upgrading off a Roland Mini Cube.
IMHO the ultimate coffee shop gig amp is the Roland CUBE Street EX 2X8" 50W battery powered combo amp. It's an amp and PA all in 1 and gives you 4 channels and 2 sides, with a guitar and mic input in each of the 2 sides. It works great and has been around for awhile. This newest version raises the power to 50w. You almost have to have a PA of some kind, and this amp has both the guitar amp w/effects and the PA all in 1 unit!! The battery lasts longer than you will. LOLOL 8) JMHO --gary
Hey brother I just got onto your website and used to watch you a year ago and I'm back again
for those who don’t know yet - the Mightier Amp application allows saving lots and lots of presets.
Great. Now I'm going to buy a new amp haha
Great ! Me too ! 🤘
I have the Mighty Air. It's pretty much all I play around the house. This would be good for busking.
R. I. P. Jeff Beck
First heard about it on facebook. That site has fake death notices so I had to double check the news. I liked his music in the 60's with the Yardbirds.
I suppose most guitar players jam with each other or play for friends, so it makes sense. Reminds me of the small acoustic guitar amps. I like amps getting away from half stacks and 2x12s. They're heavy!
Thank you for sharing the amplifier in demonstrating I think it's cool I would like to buy one thank you for sharing I like your show God bless brother
I love NUX… I bought the Air mini amp and this bigger version is the king…. But… it’s missing expression pedal and it will have you suffering from preset paralysis!
Looks great but I was expecting it to be in the $299 range. Oh well.
Now that was a sick intro. I’m liking the heavy riffs.
I can't wait for your videos! You keep us informed and up to date on affordable gear. There are a few pods that I used to watch a lot but they now they are into expensive gear
Perfect coffee house music.
Love the wireless and foot pedal. At price point, not too bad but, not sure if worth the buy. I have the Spark Amp. Really can't beat it for the value. A comparrison between the 2 would be great. Show pro's and con's. Great demo, though!! Haven't heard you talk about the awesome band Loudness lately @Guitar Max
I also have a Spark and if I bought a wireless transmitter and the Bluetooth control pedal, I'd be into it for the same money, but would still need to modify the spark to power an external cab plus is still have no looping capability.
@@raycumberland4172 I was set on the spark but it sounds too bass heavy and muddy. I only need a minimal practice amp that does good on low volume. I’m set on the Yamaha THR10II currently because I don’t need anything louder. Plus I don’t have a PC so a iOS mobile app is a necessity
@@greg6162 the addition of the eq made a big difference, but honestly so one has to do is set it on a chair to mitigate most of the muddiness
You should try the black truck buy mooer
I use it with my car stereo using the headphone jack because it has a built-in cab simulator. I do deliveries so take my guitar with me on the road during my shift, between calls by practice.
Coffeeshop metal! If that's really a thing I would totally go!
I’d like to see more of your playing 10 with the rhythm section on the amp!
I have the Spark with the Spark Control footswitch. I like the wireless and battery feature on this model.
But no looper
Pretty cool little amp. I just got a Positive Grid Spark 40 a few months ago and I have to say I am loving it. Still... there are some features that this has which I wish the Spark had like - an included foot switch, a speaker out jack and the ability to re-arrange your pedal chain - _(also the ability to easily remove the carrying strap but, that's more of a trivial nitpick)._
I wanted to ask, in terms of sound, how would you rate it against the Spark? I love the room-filling type of sound I get from the Spark and was wondering if this has that as well. Also, does this double as a bass amp like the Spark? Can you upload custom patches to the app? Can you access UA-cam and other streaming services with it?. Thanks, man.
P.S. Any news on getting the Metaltronix fixed?
My brother has the spark and the wireless pedal switch. he loves it.
I have the RegularSpark AMP, but cons on it are only 4 pre-sets you can save. I agree with you on what it lacks, but what, the cloud library, you can download other users presets! Supposedly you can access and see 10,000 presets that other users have made in the cloud library. They both have their pros and cons. If you can only have one, which would you keep? Thank you.
@@1peanut I have heard some good things about the Spark Control pedal. The only thing is that to me, it's a bit overpriced ($109 USD). I mean, it's essentially and on/off, start/stop switch. Supposedly, there are more functions that are going to be added to it but, for now, I'm good without it. Maybe in the future when it goes on sale again I'll consider getting it.
@@AngelMartinez-qs3cf Yes, the "only 4 presets" limitation is a bit of a con and to me the Cloud library, as impressive as it is, is not something I use all too much. Once in a while I will look up a patch but, most of the time, I like making my own. Seeing as I own a Spark already, I will keep it. I really do like it but, as I said, there are some missing features that limit it's features. Still, it does have some great features and for almost half the price? You can't go wrong with the Positive Grid Spark.
@@user-mj4ye7cw8n I have the Spark 40. As far as what some people are saying regarding the heavy bass, I think a lot of that is an exaggeration. These people make it seem like the amp is overly muffled and low which is just untrue.
Yes, it does have a bit of a bass presence but, that's what the built in EQ knobs are for. You can roll off all the bass and kick up the mids and highs if it's too much. Plus, you can also further sculpt the tone using the built in EQ/effects pedals.
I personally like a little bit of bass in my guitar sound. Especially in a small amp like this, otherwise; due to it's size, it could sound shrill and unpleasantly high in tone. Plus, those people also forget that the amp HAS to have a bit of bass since it also doubles as a bass amp. A bass amp that has no bass is no good, even if it is just a practice bass amp.
Last, for the difference in price, I would go with the Spark 40 if I were you. The Spark Mini has only 10 watts and that might be enough for you but, for a few extra dollars, you can get 30 more watts of power, just in case you ever need them. You might not use them often but - you never know. In the world of amplifiers, it's better to be over-powered instead of under-powered.
I'm primarily a bass player but, I am starting to play guitar and was looking into a small but, decently powered practice guitar amp. I looked at the PG Spark, the Boss Katana 50 MK II, the Line 6 Catlyst 60 and the Blackstar ID Core 40. When I weighed all the amps together, the Spark just had the most features I wanted.
Plus, I can also use it as a practice bass amp too. That and the price really sold me. Plus, it's small, light and it really does sound louder than it looks. Add the fact that PG promises to add even more features over time via the Spark app and to me, it was a no brainer. Hope this helps in your choosing of an amp.
Can I play UA-cam backing tracks
Thanks for the information Max.
Its great! I got the small one already and the mghty plug also. This will be my next amp purchase... less gear carrying - I'm all over that ;-)
I'd like to see your favorite Metal settings on the Nux M.S.! Great Review!
nux give us cool innovations & user friendly features. nice review max
Great review Max. Seems too expensive. On sale you could buy two Spark amps for this price. A few different features, but I hope you get my point. Thanks for posting!
How do you think that the user interface and quality of modeling stacks up to the Positive Grid Spark line of amplifiers? It obviously has a more giggable setup due to the type of output jacks but it would be interesting to see a head to head with the Spark seeing that they are very similarly designed.
… all these modellers have a ridiculous amount of digital processing options and I find cycling through them dull asf… I liked the line 6 modellers that had presets based off songs so you had a familiar base tone… these devices have you tone deaf after a while… you are best making your own presets from scratch which can be a ball ache.
@@DJCJ999 yeah I agree with you on that. My lead player had a SpiderValve half stack and it was pretty legit. It didn’t hurt that the amp section was true tube and then it added the FX on top of it. The Helix is decent but is dated compared to much of the pack now. I still prefer something that is a combo versus having to purchase an FRFR powered monitor/cab.
I use an Amplifi 150 for this. And it will analize any song and make a setting for your guitar fx to match. 5 speakers as well.
Had the Amplifi 150. Great amp but not really built for live play.
@@flowride68 yeah doesn't have the power, good for small venues. 150 mofset watts, not tube
It's not portable but I love my Amplifi TT. The spread of sound I get from stereo speakers 5 foot apart sounds huge.
Enjoy your videos Max. Have you ever or could you do a comparison video between the Positive Grid Spark and the Nu-X. I appreciate your objectivity doing gear reviews.
Their Mighty Air is the perfect bedroom practice amp to me. This one looks like its bigger brother, but it's already too big and a bit to expensive for that - truly, more like a coffee shop amp than a bedrrom amp.
Hi there.....Does it have Chorus Flanger Delay and Reverb and Distortion............Thanks.
Love the review Max. Great as always! Have you ever checked out the Spark Amp?
Hi, thanks for the video, can you clarify what do you mean with emulated output before you started to play? Thanks
Max would you say this amp is as good as/purely more convenient than/or comparable to the mustang you normally use? Thanks in advance for any answer if answered at all. Keep up the great content.
well now i have to get a new amp
But... if it is a App-based amp (using a phone for parameter control) then it's usability will ONLY last as long as the phone or app itself.. which means within just a few years it might become useless, there is no guarantee.. because phones go out of style within ~2-3 years and OLD APPS DON'T RUN ANYMORE.. no company will continue to provide an app forever. Even Fender had to discontinue its original Mustang.V2 Amp App which ran on computers after about ten years, so those amps can no longer be controlled other than the very basic EQ, etc, knobs on the top. Not even the current bluetooth type will be around forever because old bluetooth devices no longer can connect to today's bluetooth devices, a problem of obsolescence which will repeat in the future. So, near $500 for this amp which will only work for several years before it can no longer be controlled? Unless the amp has a midi port which allows complete control via MIDI CC, it will become a doorstop in a very short time. ..by the way.. how about do a review of the newest JOYO guitar amp which is coffee-shop sized and battery powered (but, it is mono not stereo).
It offers PC editor, no worry.
obsolescence? whatever.....
@@Monkcustom PC editor will also only last 10 years at most and sane musicians use macOs not PC
@@superblondeDotOrg So these kinds of modern products are not for you, keep valve amplifiers.
Great points
This amp seems cool, but how does it stack up against the Katana mini? Any chance of seeing a review on the subject?
Sounds really good! How would compare this against a Spark, Max?
Hi, Max; thanks for the video.
I have a question, does this amplifier drop the tone?
I would sincerely like to try this bad boy out cuz I think I need to downsize now
Where do you buy the firefly guitars at? Saw your recent review of the blue one.
As far as portable mini/battery amps are concerned, the original Roland micro cube set the standard. Vox improved on this by adding a mic input for busking and practicing your singing. Both had an aux input for adding a drum machine or backing tracks. No one has yet improved on this model. The amp manufacturers really need to stop trying to re-imventing the wheel and stick to this formula. Adding infinite tweakability via "apps" takes away from actual music creativity.
can you take it to the beach with no power cord?
You're awesome, keep it up!!!
This is incredibly similar to the Spark but with basically every feature we wish the spark had. I suspect it shares a fair bit of hardware.
Max, would you use this in a band setting at some of the more common L.A. area gig spots?
I think since it has stereo outputs, you could plug into any PA or sound system in any settings. Seems very versatile.
Mice video Max :) but we want to know more about your new Harley Benton signature guitar that is going to be released soon ;P
I have also got a picture if anyone is interested ehehehe
Lmao my name is sterling. Lol
Don't use your phone, use an android Samsung tablet like I do for the Spark app. It works great and all my music notation/chords are on my tablet when performing. So no need for my phone app to run the app.
Imagine how far we’d be musically if dudes like Hendrix had access to stuff like this.
Thankfully they didn't
Amp good to run acoustic guitar?
Does this share the exact same AMPS and EFX as the Headphone Amp Mighty Plug Pro?
Yes it does
is this better purchase than the Positive Grid 40 Spark ?
yep!
Can the app be used offline?
Yes it functions via Bluetooth
🤘
It's kinda cool.. but that price is kinda steep
I hear only cux play nux 😅
Take you a while to come up with that one?
Earnie ball axes and Jeff beck all died but their legacy lives awn!! Jk. Thanks dude fer ya demonstration! I rub dis amp to bits. If it had a Mac digital connection with Garage band aiwud b sold.😂😂😂
What happens if people call you when you are using your phone to run your music?
"Nope" not for me.
if anything fails everything fails.
I'll stick with a more modular old fashioned rig.
But thank for your hard work putting this video up ..
You are appreciated Max. PS. Titanium Rain, is awesome; Thanks for that too.
Got to be honest. For 500 bucks, there just seems to be better options. The size is cool, the price is not. Maybe for 250 tops, but at this price I can buy a 100 watt amp with all the same effects.
Sure there are better options in terms of sound, but that's beside the point. Are there any other amps that are battery operated with a footswitch and looper, with Nux-level modeling, controlled from the app, and power output? In terms of what this amp is meant to do - to be a all in one ultimate portable practice machine (did I mention LOOPER?) - it has a pretty unique combination of features! Can you quickly work out a solo to a riff with a Katana? Don't underappreciate the built-in looper!
I have my perfect sound and recording setup with studio monitors and software amp sim. It's not something I can grab and go to a friend to jam, or take to the kitchen or to the forest, or throw into a suitcase and take on a business trip...
The other thing to note is this amp has 32 bit/ 48khz converters don’t think and other amp has this feature.
Bees in a can.
But the music its dead, the rock its dead, Wath we do It with this amp?
More to worry about in the world than batteries pal. No coming back.
COFFEE SHOP???..CHURCH.
II. FIGURE. YOU LOOKED UP TO RANDY ROADS....
Ugh 4/2... ugh.. 😆 🤣
Why bother when the Positive Grid Spark 40 can do all this and more. I thought it sounded very artificial, no thanks.
That is a pricey lil sumbitch..... Nice extras : wireless transm./switch, +drum machine , looper, app features..battery powered....probably worth a solid $150- 200 + so not really far off a Spark 40 w/ foot switch + battery pack upgrade + a basic looper pedal or drum pedal pricing...
NUX makes pretty damn good stuff.
why polish a turd🤣
