We saw a prototype for the this dock a few years ago, but the final product is much more impressive. Skydio keeps innovating with new software and hardware. Great video Billy, and thanks for sharing.
Did they mention a better and more modern sensor? A real remote for pilots to use? Who is the RPIC when you are using this dock? Is the drone within VLOS? If the drone crashes when launched from the box, who is responsible? Does Skydio have a RID compliance path forward? I want to love Skydio but there are a lot of questions and not enough viable answers yet.
That is quite iteresting,I thought only DJI and Autel were working remote docking stations for their enterprise level drones.I will definetly keep track of Skydio to see the progress that thay make.
Wow dang that's cool. First Skydio releases the R1 which was a breakthrough in drone autonomy, then thr R2 which I believe is the best of the best, the king of Obstacle Avoidance...and now this. Wow they just keep innovating awesome awesome stuff
Hopefully they incorporate a heater inside the dock. Otherwise, I don't see these working too good on an outdoor site during the winter with temps below zero 🥶
The are being smarter, there are so many applications for interior use. They are thinking business use than DJI with this. So many large contracts require ongoing monitoring/assessments, having one of these on site could be game changing in terms of bidding. That said, I don't see a major benefit for exterior given the need to still deal with LOS
The replacement for drone pilots. Does a person who owns and operates one of these have to be 107 certified ? When a drone flys automated does line of site no longer matter? How about sustained flight over people? If it’s in controlled air space would it seek out laanc approval before each flight? Just thinking of all the rules and regulations. On the positive this drone could also assist in providing a extra level of security. Like in the movies. Lol
I prefer the DJI Avata because of: Portability, versatility, Camera Quality and Transmission. The DJI FPV is awesome because of its raw power and speed, however its camera and the V2 Goggle just isn't as good. However I'm happy having both!
What about VLOS.... ? Currently it's illegal to fly a drone via a computer over the network like that if you don't have VLOS. So I'm not sure how many companies are going to want to risk fines for that. Also, for autonomous flight, more than a pre planned path is necessary. This is actually more AI triggered controls based on parameters. Not actually autonomy at it's core. That may sound like playing word games, but I would venture the FAA will say, YOU are still the pilot & therefore ALL the regular rules apply. Just my take on it. I'm sure changes are coming so it's interesting to see where all this is headed. 😎🛩️👍
Thanks for always good and in depth videos! But the dock even the dock lite is aimed at business part of Skydio. I love my skydio 2+ but i feal like Skydio is forgetting us ordinary consumers that have bought it for fun and recreational purporses. The app it self for normal consumers has not developed that much, other than keyframes part. I would like to see some of the software also being released for normal consumers. Yeah, keyframes is a nice piece og tech software, but come on, release as well waypoints, like you have in business. And why we are at it, business can get the pro rc, while we are still stuck with the parrot one. Remember Skydio....it was the private consumers that brought the drone to life and making vids and free marketing, by investing in it. Think we deserve some attention and some cool software and hardware as well. 🙏🏻
WOW!! Really impressive stuff there! Say goodbye to security guards at construction sites and all similar!! Can the drone be programmed to launch on a motion detection alarm/sensor? If not - let's make one and sell a gajillion to major security companies!!
oh.. but why. Spend so much time to make a dock but so little (or perhaps none) to make the drone foldable ?? I would never buy a skydio if it continues to be unfoldable.
Nothing an ip camera can't do, but cameras would be a lot cheaper. Unless it can do long range missions i really don't see anything here worth getting excited about.
@@billykyleDon't get me wrong Billy, there drones are amazing. I can see this tech like this doing amazing thins in the future. But i don't think their there right now. Long range mission where it is not feasible to put cameras up for sure.
Skydio just keeps getting better and better. Thank you for showing this to us Bill.
It’s wild! Thanks for watching!
Awesome coverage Billy. Was awesome to have you cover the event. Come back again soon!

This and the new military model makes for some interesting advancements for Skydio.

Haven’t seen Autel’s Dock
That's super cool. Thanks for sharing this with us Billy
Pretty cool! Thanks for watching!
@@billykyle You're welcome bro
This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Its kinda like a live feed cctv with fully controllable camera.

Yup they are doing some really interesting things
Impressive! Thanks for sharing.
That’s freaking cool!
Badass 😎
Great video as always!
MIND BLOWN!! Thanks.
Wow! Off the hook neat
SO awesome
Hopefully they incorporate a heater inside the dock. Otherwise, I don't see these working too good on an outdoor site during the winter with temps below zero 🥶
Good info! Always wondered what skydios niche is!
Excellent Tutorial Video. Thank You Russ.
Awesome technology
What about the camera, have they refined it? The drone can have all the bells and whistles but if the camera is average it can’t compete.
Thank you Billy! Most grateful, T ;-)
I just got that same sweatshirt I freaking love it... oh cool dronez
New software for dock applications?
How do I get one
Merci pour l info from Tahiti

The future!! Hopefully it has some anti-theft aspect.
Kool Piece Of Kit
Thats pretty dope
Agreed
Amazing

will the drone land on moving object like vboat or car?
They are working towards that
Nooice! 😎 STOC
Wow its cool
let see my Avata Dock :-))
What is your favorite drone the DJI FPV drone or dji avata???

@@schweizerluchs7146 What do u think you like the most and fly the most??
Neither
How about being remote id compliant?
Skydio has already released their plans for remote ID compliance
Did you already try thé dji dock
Get reported
Just think thats a step forward for all since not having VLS will be out the window here lol
Skydio has a team that helps their customers obtain waivers for BVLOS flight
that like sci-fi amazing
Right?!

Not a single mention of how it compares to DJI nest/dock?
Not enough time to do a full comparison
This explains why you were in SF….
Great show last night on @Dronenation
You with the hot mic!!! "SO HOW IS EVERYTHING BILLY?"
Thank you!
automated quantity surveying ! 🙂
Yes!!!
DJI you still alive???

Albert Einstein said something to the effect:
It’s abundantly clear sthat our humanity has been surpassed by technology.
🔥👍
this is brilliant! Good for Skydio! Something DJI it's not doing.
They have a dock already released
Yes - but I would argue Skydio’s dock is much further along
They only selling that service to big companies. Everybody that I have a Skydio cant even get that upgrade
How does the outdoor dock verify that conditions are okay to fly?
Why don't you show us the dock in real life?
Why am I thinking of watchdog legion when I see this..?
First 🎉
Nice Eddie
