    For the ring of my mega tree I used the ring from a trampoline. Works pretty well and a nice clean circle

    I’ve been hoping for an Isaac Alexander DIY mega Christmas tree tutorial for 2 years now! Thanks for delivering, man! 🎄 I so love how your mega tree is tall and slim rather than short and too dumpy like almost every other one I’ve seen. Not surprised yours would be total perfection! It’s just beautiful and completely heightens my Christmas spirit! 🤩
    The flag pole topper you used seems so much more effective, allowing you to loop and evenly space more strands of lights, than other products on the market.
    As always, thanks for your detailed instructions! I haven’t been able to find any other video like this. 🙌

Because I can’t cement anything into the grass (renter) I found someone getting rid of an old tether ball pole that had a cemented-tire base about 15 feet tall. Same concept but when taking it down I tie the light stings to the pole, wrap in a tarp and store it that way. Seems to work.

    Maybe I missed it, but as you add the lights and are attaching to the topper…how do you ensure you have enough vertical length of light before looping it back again over the next rung on the topper? I ask given that everything is being connected as one continuous strand and you aren’t raising it or attaching to the base until the end.

    • @IsaacAlexanderDIY
      @IsaacAlexanderDIY  Рік тому +3

      You have to use Christmas lights with 100 lights per strand which will measure in length between 22 to 28 feet long (depending on the brand). So you don’t need to ensure that you have enough length because each strand should be long enough for a 25ft flag pole

    Hello Isaac,
    Great idea on the flagpole Christmas tree. I had been think of a similar idea since last year. But accidentally found your video, and you gave me better insight on how to do it better.
    My only question is how did you attach the lights at the base? You said wrap the lights around the base. I don't believe they'll stay there on their own. So did you zip tie them at the base or how did you get them to stay?
    And I'm assuming that you plug the strands together at the top, lights run down to the base, then come back up to the top to plug into the next one, yes? Do you recall how many feet of lights per each box you used and how many boxes it took? I'm guessing 50' string of lights and 18 boxes?
    Keep up the great work!

      PEX is more flexible so it can be coiled up at the end of the season. Buy the whole coil (it's inexpensive) so you only need one connection for the whole bottom ring. You could play with the fittings to make the circle then disassemble. I think last year he used PVC tees and short lengths to make feet for the ring? They just slide over the PEX. Zip tie to short rebar in the ground or put the rebar inside the circle and use tension to hold it (angle rebar outward or use sturdy stakes. Lots of options.

    • @AFrogNamedPoo
      @AFrogNamedPoo Рік тому +1

      @dianeladico1769 Pex is definitely the way to go if you choose to do a base. I just use tent pegs to hold my lights directly to the ground. Really no need for a base. Although it does eliminate the need to measure every tent stake individually......

      Tie a string to the top of the flag pole, raise it and then mark your string about 4' larger (for wrapping the base) and then measure. This will give you round about what size you need to buy for your size of flag pole and you can determine what size you want the base of your tree to be.. it doesn't have to be exactly as wide as this video.. we have a 20' flag pole so we are going for a 5-6' base.

      Guy wires top and in the middle if the pole itself isn't tough enough to handle the wind without. And they don't have to go way outside the base area of the tree if you add them.

      Excuse my ignorance because I was curious. Did you have something that was causing the pull? I know it's 25 ft tall, but it's a relatively thin pole. They would have had to have been something catching the wind I would think, unless of course it was a high wind. Thanks
