This is the final, (somewhat) finished version of the Pulp Fiction scene I displayed a little while ago. Try to ignore the obvious clipping on some things (Scout's bag, demo's chin, etc.), and the bloom at the start which I could do nothing about really bar turning it off.
I didn't really change much in the starting scene apart from more emotion in the demo's face, but you can probably see I got better at some things later on in the clip. It's taken me long enough to go through the film step by step to replicate the little details, and when I was finished I didn't feel like going back and fixing up the start, so sorry for that.
The map was made in Hammer, Valve's level editor, so the scene is somewhat similar to that of the film, although not exactly because of differing proportions and I was going entirely off of visuals. I couldn't find a decent door model that would open in one of the ending scenes, which is why the medic seems to appear from nowhere.
This final version took about 3 hours to render (because it only seemed to want to compile off of a single core), and approximately a week (working week, 5 days) to make.
Anyways, enjoy.
I feel bad for anyone who hasn't seen pulp fiction

What is pulp fiction?
Wait, there are people in this world who haven't seen it?!

"Come on man you know I ain't seen no sign-"

"No!"
"That's because it's not there! Because my garage is not made for dead spy storage!"

Just as it would be here, in this Pulp Fortress thing.

You know why they call it a Sandvich with Cheese in Paris?
Why?
NeededFour88 Cause' they use the metric system; they don't know what the fuck a quarter-pootis is.
Whats a gottamer called, then?

The lip sync is awesome!
That Medic at the end was probably an F2P that didn't even get a gibus yet

Team Fiction 2
Marvin should have been a demo not a spy :P
I think he used spy as marvin because both got head exploded (see meet the spy) lol
That is true, but a french man as a black guy?
+PuffinMuffins Marvin was Jules and Vincent's informer, so....
yes because everyone knows black people only come from either harlem or africa and no black person lives in france or any other country for that matter how silly i must be for thinking french black people could exist i must be going insane am i going insane puffinmuffins please tell me before i start spreading any more myths like the existence of black frenchmen
This is really great. The amount of effort that goes into something like this is massive, and I really appreciate it, good work.
"Is he a friend of yours?"
"Hmm? Oh, Vincent, Marvin, Marvin, Vincent"
"Well could you tell him to shut the fuck up, he's getting on my nerves"
Soldier fiddling around with things in the background was great attention to detail of the actual scene. Amazing job.
I think, this is quite possibly the best source filmmaker short i've seen.
Like really, well done.
You've earned a like, fave and a sub.
At the end I said "wait, what?
OHSHIT"
love how people instantly make awesome stuff with SFM
Wow, really well made. Would love to see more scenes from the movie. I can't get over how well done this is..
For anyone wondering, the reason the Demo and Soldier don't have to reload is because in Pulp Fiction they don't have revolvers, they have pistols with huge ass clips.
Honestly this is the best thing I've seen come out of the Source Film Maker. Great job and keep it up!
He wandered over there when Marvin was having a panic attack.
FUCKING AMAZING!!!! Even the hats fit in accordance to the characters. That is insane. There is only 1 thing I did not like, that was probably something that could not be done anyway in Filmmaker. There is this lighting effect done in the movie when Travolta and Jackson shoot Brett after the Ezekiel passage.
I think the lighting effect is awesome in the movie.
this is amazing, if you pull up the actual pulp fiction video and play it at the same time with this one its exactly the same, amazing job
this is a great use of that animation thingy that valve let out. I hope i can see more like this in the future from other people as well, Great job.
Custom maps are in a BSP format. Also, I made the map.
I can imagine Demoman interrogating someone about his target, Pulp Fiction style
Imagine samuel jackson seeing this
Well, there's not really any problem mentioning suggestions. It doesn't necessarily change anything, but it allows me to take it on board in case I do anything else along these lines. If I were to do another scene from Pulp Fiction which involved the same guns I can make them pistols rather than revolvers.
Also, @xXxMartin96xXx, I think the spy does fit the character, given who Marvin is.
The best scene of this best film of the best director, remade by the one of the best youtubers, with the best choice of characters and the best animation possible.
I love you.
omg, you even recreated the entire layout of the room, with the original camera angles and everything. Nice.
2:10 Demoman even has that "Furious anger" look that Samuel L. Jackson had. :>
Great work
2:48 BEST PART (Not really)
Ok this is the best Demoman/Pulp Fiction lip synch SFM video. You people can stop making them now. The standard has been set.
If you right click on the character in the item list for that scene you can rig it with the TF2 rig, which links all the bones up and makes some move with others. All you have to do is select each time section and move each bone you want into place. The tutorial videos do explain it, and much better than I can anyway.
Watch Remastered version !
The scene alone from the film is the peak of what modern film is.
"Modern"?
@@ryantalley5284 Would cinema from the age of 1980-2000 onward count as modern film?
@@TurtleShellProductions 2000 onward, sure.
1980, though?
@@ryantalley5284 I'm still counting it.

It's Team Fortress 2. I should've put it in the description really, but because a dispute is still going on over who owns what on the Pulp Fiction audio clip, I can't. It's free to play, so give it a try. Give it a search on Steam/Google.
This is the best Film Maker video yet. Great work.
WANT THAT DEMO HAT.
Its worth 3.11 ref but i can sell it to u for 3.33 :3
that small amount of lines is what convinced me to watch pulp fiction.
So I just checked it out, turns out it's Kotaku reporting on it, and it's showing up on the SFM feed, which is even better.
Also, when reading "Sam Jackson" I was seriously wondering who it was, until I realised.
Link in the description. I've not tested it though, but it seems like it's the most recent version I made.
"does he look like a bitch?"
"what?"
*BANG*
pulp fiction, probably one of my favorite movies of all time.
The interesting thing is that there are a lot of links between pulp fiction and TF2, such as the briefcase. In TF2, the briefcase's contents are never disclosed and are constantly sought after to get to the other side, in the movie, it's the same way except when it is opened, there's a golden glow. This could also be connected to Australium, used in the briefcases in some matches in TF2. Australium has a golden glow and is highly prized. Another connection is when the Fox Force Five, among other relations to the team, the demolitions experts on both sides share ethnicity and the spies/seducturs are both French.
You could be correct, but TF2 does have a lot of references in it (to other Valve games and the media in general).
The spy is french? I thought that he was Italian. Huh.
It's fine. A lot of people have mentioned it, probably as something everyone looks for when watching a video. Going frame by frame through it made me realise there wasn't a great deal of it happening.
Extremely good, I must say one of the top ten videos on UA-cam. This and the Mickey Mouse dub of this are astonishing.
Indeed it does. I copied a load of my previous scenes to re-edit and stuff because the setup was the same, but most of them were without guns, and I couldn't be bothered re-adding them as most people wouldn't notice.
You, sir, have created perfection.
Glad you broke it down for us, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was confused by that scene
11 years late on this, but its still good today!
Demo is so right to play that role.
well tbh i dont care that there was a little mistake :) i can understand how long it takes and how fine details can be a pain after lots of editing and re-filming etc
This is to good to bring down :) real good job man
Demoman has no chill
This is some really, REALLY good animation
Someone's already done "Pulp Fortress" and I didn't really want to name it the same thing.
This was among the greatest thing I´ve ever seen on youtube! Really great job you!
I sir bow down to you because this is one of the greatest things I've seen just like watching the actual film !
Source Filmmaker. Do you really think this could be done in the game itself? In theory it is, but it isn't, but it is, but it isn't, but it is, but i-oh dear, I've gone cross-eyed.
how much i would pay to watch a completely source filmified version of pulp fiction....
lack of expression on samuel L demomans face.
great expressions on the scout.
Probably, but they most likely won't care. It doesn't necessarily do anything to the video, since I'm not getting any money from it anyway. The previous ones blocked me from updating the video description and stuff though, which is incredibly annoying.
Later in the film...
Did you see the sign on the front of my house that says "Dead Spy Storage."
brilliant. captured Jule's wild eyed look perfectly at 2:12 when he says "furious anger"!
BECAUSE STORING DEAD SPY'S AIN'T MY FUCKING BUSINESS THAT'S WHY
Loved the medic. All around awesome idea and nice realisation.
Well done man. Damn that source filmmaker must be so sweet for this to be made in a week; with all the crap made with gary's mod I can't wait to see what people can make with a professional tool like this.
Many years now, and there’s a myriad of top quality animations.
I love you for making this
"Oh Heavy, don't-"
"Let me ask question. When you pull in here, did you see sign, say "Dead Baby Storage"?"
"Heavy, you know I didn't see any-"
"Did. You. See. Sign. Say. Dead. Baby. Storage?"
"...No."
"You know why?"
"Why"?
"Because is not there, because storing dead babies is not my business, that's why!"
By the way, on the demoman, under Other there is a way to move his jacket collar, so you could adjust it to not block his mouth from 2:07 to 2:12. Otherwise, one of the best remakes I have seen!
I sat the scout down manually, just as you would edit any bones normally. Try rigging it up with the simple biped (I think) and moving it.
I know it won't happen, but I would watch pulp fiction entirely remade in this style
I like how everyone says this, but if you watch the actual scene there's about the same amount of blinking as I've added.
The ending is ironic because the medic's bullets are incredibly small
Dude this is was freaking awesome! It's better than some of the other stuff I've seen on UA-cam.
I love how Marvin is a spy, because Marvin was the inside man who back stabbed his associates in the film :)
I did indeed, found 2 clips on here, downloaded them and went through step by step trying to mimic the actions. I got better at it towards the end.
"I think God stopped those motherfucking bullets."
The bathroom the guy came out, of when he started shooting Jules and Vincent, was after the kitchen counter, not before.
Thanks. The effect is possible in filmmaker, but I was never really fond of it in the film, and since I was merging 2 clips from early and late on in the film I decided to just cut it out.
i guess you can say *shades* soldier didn't think the spy was on his side!
I did while going over the scene as many times as I did.
The people who disliked this don't know what marcellus wallace looks like.
Casting the Spy as Marvin. Brilliant.
Finally someone made the demo wear the 'fro for this.
Ok,that was the best TF2 animation ive seen. Really great job man.
This is Valve-class material. They could totally give you a job or something for this.
i named my strange revolver Marsellus Wallace. Description is: Oh im sorry did i break your concentration?
Epic, I see a bright future for SFM.
Haha, it's awesome and the fact that Marvin is the Spy cracked me up when I noticed.
Just search for Pulp Fiction breakfast scene. It's taken from 2 clips. I figured the people that would be interested in this would've seen the film already.
if someone made the full movie with this id watch the shit out of it
Yeah, I noticed that little error while skipping through the video. I was going to, but couldn't figure out how to without doing it in the game, then coming back out again.
The mess hall scene in The Matrix. PLEASE! Matt Doran (who played Mouse) SO reminds me of the scout!
I'd do it myself, but I stink at this kind of thing... I'm a skinner, not a modeler... Totally wish I had the talent to pull it off...
When the characters are breathing heavily, can you add a chest expansion, contraction effect? Would be really cool imo.
The medic made this whole video hilarious.
Couldn't be bothered editing it in, since people generally don't mind.
only one single problem with this, he shot him in the knee, not the shoulder, other then that, masterpiece
You officially win the intenet
