I have to say it is genius to cook the potatoes with the trivet over the lentils in the Shepherds pie so it all cooks together!! I love how easy and still delicious your recipes are!!! You are awesome at making cooking hearty simple and quick for busy people! Yay! Also the fried rice recipe using crumpled tofu- wow! Another brilliant idea to bulk up a simple dish! I love it! Thank you!
I watched your vlog twice and I really want to try them all but I made the shepherds pie one tonight and OMG, This was amazing. I am now in love with the recipe. Thank you so much for sharing!
You are brilliant! You have become my go to because everything I’ve prepared has been delicious! I just ordered the free meal guide and am excited to explore this option! Thank you!
The chopper has been a game-changer for me. I love its time-saving benefit. I am now learning to use my Instapot, which has been sitting on my counter for over a year. LOL
Until she does… pressure cook brown rice and release steam as usual, stir in salsa, a small can of chopped green chiles, froz corn, Sazon or taco seasoning, whatever you like in yours! I like to add chopped bell pepper to the rice so it cooks at the same time, add the other things I already mentioned, and often also rinsed canned black beans for a complete meal, or leave out the beans and serve over/with refried beans. Serve with tortilla chips and a big salad 😋
Yummy 😋 Dump and Go Recipes Ali for busy days (usually on busy days I prefer to eat leftovers from the previous day because I sometimes don't feel like cooking on busy days). Thanks 👍 for another awesome video and love 🥰 it. Love ❤ Ali & family.
I made the shepherds pie tonight i dont eat mushrooms so just added a ton of extra veggies and some homemade powdered stock waz awesome and very tasty i will be making this again and freezeing or dehydrateing lentil mix as i live alone thanks for shareing🥰
I also tried to put the rack in but with al my veg, I had carrots an cauliflower that needed used up ,so I just layed the potatoes on top when scooping out the lentils just scoop a potato or two ,delicious 🎉🎉🎉
Great recipes. I will definitely try the shepherd’s pie. One thing I do differently for the fried rice is I put just 1 cup of extra water if I’m using brown rice so if I have 3 cups of brown rice I put 4 cups of water. I set it for 13 minutes +natural release or 14 minutes +manual release. It won’t get mushy this way.
Bouillon can be very high salt. If you care about that, use homemade or low sodium bouillon and then add salt.substutue and dvdn add some regular to taste. Over the years I've gotten used to NO SALT at all. Healthier that way but it takes time if youre hooked on salt!
Great recipes! We tried the soy chunks recipes that you recently posted. The whole family loved them. Can't wait to try these. Thank you for sharing these easy, family friendly meals. We also appreciate your kids' reviews!
I love all three of these recipes. Can't wait to try them, although I'm still scared of the Instant Pot I bought at a thrift store. Black beans are my fav! Thank you!
I made the black bean soup I put the soup over a baked potato! So good, I am making the fried rice today. Going to try the shepards pie when it gets a bit colder outside!!!
I love how hearty your recipes are and I can't wait to try these, especially the Shepard's Pie, which you've made look tons easier in the instant pot! Thank you!
I watch your videos all the time. Thank you. I've gone to your website to sign up for the recipes and shopping lists and can't find where to do that. Can you help me with that?
Howdy and thanks for the great recipes! Please tell me where you got the "trivet thing" you used at 06:04 for the potatoes. I got my Instant Pot at a thrift store and it didn't come with one of those. I'm hoping there's a place in the NOVA area I can purchase one. Thanks!
Amazon usually has the brand name parts, but also a ton of 3rd party gadgets that look really interesting! I saw a nice variety just by searching for ‘instant pot trivet’ 😀 If yours isn’t labeled with the size, just count how many quarts of water it takes to get to the fill line on the liner bowl.
I can’t wait to try these recipes. Do you have a meal guide / resize book for the dump and go meals only. I need all the insta pot meals. Can I find those on your website? I saw the other seasonal recipe books.
That's a great idea actually!! I'm still adding to the dump and go, but once I feel like I have a good amount I'll make a book. SO smart! In the meantime, go Here for all the dump and go recipes: www.plantwhys.com/blog/search?q=dump+and+go
I don't know about Alisia herself, but something I've seen works is to just put the food on the table, if they eat it great and if not then that's okay too. Exposure to the same things over and over again and eventually the kids will venture out to try it. If they don't like it once, say that that's okay, that our tastebuds change with time and maybe another time they'll like it. Also, many kids prefer to taste things from the parent's plate than their own, not sure what the reason behind that is!
Oh my goodness, this is amazing made this for last night supper ,instead of tomato paste I used ketchup, I have a very picky adult son an I was blown away, cause he said how good it was . Thank you you saved me this is a keeper.
Interesting. I always call it a stalk too. Just learned something. But, I guess, a lot of us call a rib a stalk, so I bet most viewers knew exactly what she meant. ** Sorry, this was supposed to have been posted in response to the chef's comment! @mattdonalds
I wish my family would eat the food I cook. I have 2 kids (10 and 5) and my husband are all vegetarian and I’m the vegan lol they eat all the alternatives (minus real cheese pizza and Mac n cheese) I have but they’re really picky. My kids are still nuggets or Mac n cheese kids with peas, carrots, fruit, etc. but they will *never* try the food I cook for myself and my husband doesn’t like soups or stews, which is mostly what I make during the winter 😕 I wish they’d give things a try. I think I’m a pretty good cook… 🤷♀️ ngl sometimes it makes me cry lmao I know that’s silly. I guess I just take it too personally because I’m so passionate about cooking and my love language is giving and sharing with people.
These are great recipes! Just a couple of comments one try Chipotle chilli powder you can order it from Penzeys Spices. and why not ginger in the fried rice. My guess is your kids don't like it.
This is my first dump & go instant pot video, I usually don't watch them because I don't own one. Gasp! 😳 (I'm old and slow to change) but you have such interesting recipes I decided to watch. I need to get an instant pot. 🤣 All my life I've had dietary problems with meat so I have literally lived on processed junk food for over 50 years. My old body can't take that anymore and I've grown tired of the same ol' same old. That's how I found your channel. I love it. 👵👍
@@tardis33 😁👍 thank you for the encouragement. I've been trying all sorts of flavors and combinations that are new to me. Ingredients I would never have thought to put together.
Yep, I resisted until just last year - after all, I already have a wonderful slow cooker and pressure cooker (and not afraid to use it 😂). But I’m loving the instant pot!! It’s not replaced my other appliances, but it’s just another great option! I know it’s a simple thing, but love steaming a ton of potatoes or making brown and wild rice without having to monitor to make sure they don’t run out of water, and it’s so much faster to get to temp when pressure cooking. Watch for the upcoming Black Friday sales - got my $100 version for just $60!
There are 700 mg of sodium in each measured teaspoon of the better than bouillon. Those look more like tablespoons so not sure what the point of lite salt is?
I love these recipes but...your empty IP liners could use some easy cleaning help. After you wash the pot(s) add a shallow layer of plain old fashion white vinegar to the pot and leave it for 5 minutes while you finish cleaning your cooking area. Wipe or gently scrub the pot and it should easily remove the layer left behind by cooking starchy type foods like beans and potatoes. I have 3 IP's , a rice cooker, and stovetop steamer that have stainless steel liners and this trick works fast and easy.
I made the Lentil Shepherd's Pie in the IP and kept getting the burn notice...I sauteed the veg first which is the ONLY difference from the video (but your recipe said you've sauteed the veg before). No idea why I couldn't make this work despite continuing to move the potatoes, add more water and scrap the bottom and add the potatoes back and try again...and again. Kept getting the burn notice. Annoying!
I dont want anyone to think I'm simply trying to be provocative so I edited this comment. I feel it was edifying but no biggie. Its gone . Whoever was triggered can breath now. ❤
@@sejo3773 well it would have if she would have called you aside and explained to you why we should be greatful and not complain. How everything we have we are blessed to have. Just being mean without context doesn't teach a child anything. Teach them to have character and respect and let them know they are valued and that mom should also be valued. We shouldn't make them feel horrible but we shouldn't be afraid to teach them either. Its our job as loving moms to love them enough to shape their character. Its unfortunate your experience with your mom didn't go well. Thats really terrible. But no one will starve from one evening till the next morning. Im super close to my grown kid. He turned out pretty awesome too. We have a great relationship. And I wasn't afraid to teach him. I raised him while always guiding and instructing him. It didn't hurt him to correct him when he was in error.

I agree, I'm going to do this
Wondering why you cook the potatoes in the instant pot? Microwaving is quicker but you are the expert so I appreciate your advice

Some sesame oil, red pepper flakes might bring flavor to the rice. However, I'm not feeding children.
