How to get the “Blizzard of Ozz” GUITAR TONE - Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) - Bias Amp & Bias FX

- Using Bias Amp 2 and Bias FX 2, I show how to accurately get the guitar sound from Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) on the “Blizzard of Ozz” album.
IMPORTANT 2023 UPDATE - Some users have reported they can't find my presets when searching Bias FX 2. This seems to be a glitch in their search system. To solve the issue, type in the search field "DMO -" (yes, just DMO followed by a space and hyphen) and choose "Sort by Popularity" in the drop-down beside the search field. You should see all of my presets.
Please note many users have taken my presets and created their own versions with similar names. To make sure you are downloading my original presets, my user name in Bias FX 2 is "Dan Oliv". Also, my original presets have a lot more downloads than the non-original versions.

. Bias Amp 2 and Bias FX 2 guitar modeling software - metal distortion and Mesa Boogie Mark IIc+ amp simulation with tone matching feature
. Line 6 UX-1 audio interface and M-Audio monitors
. Reaper Digital Audio Workstation
. iMac with El Capitain OS
. Jackson King V KV2 guitar with original Floyd Rose tremolo and Seymour Duncan pickups

It's the Blizzard guitar sound for sure. That distinct ringing tone that's oversaturated but clean at the same time. Nice.
Out of all tone recreation videos I've seen, this must be the most accurate.
Surprisingly close for a situation where exact tone is extremely difficult to obtain.

I upload your (this) tone and it's great! Still i change speakers to greenbacks because at least for my guitars it sounds better, and move the second cap mic to lower keeping first one pretty close to cab. You can move the mic even when you are using dual/two cabs at the same time. I also change bass to 2, mid to 6 and treble to 7.5 and presence to 6 to more like what i have seen and hear about what setups Randy use back then.
That's great. Definitely different guitars will impact how the preset sounds.

Hey Bro! John here again: I love Guitar Rig. It seems like the main tone is coming from the amp head you're using in this patch "DMO Blizzard of Oz". In other naming, what amp head would you use? Plex, a JTM 45, Lead 800, JUMP, Hot Solo +, Van 51, etc.? Which head in Guitar Rig do you think would match your "DMO Blizzard of Oz" head? Also what cabs are you using and are you doing anything special with the micing of the cabinet or the room?
Maybe you can release all those versions comparison someday, so we can appreciate audio upgrades and all the work you did!
Some tones are more difficult than others. This one, because of the fuzzy/vintage sound, it was incredibly difficult to get close to it. I always like to read people's feedback as it helps me refine the tone and then release a final version for everyone to enjoy.

Hey I tried that one the ampero the thing is tho i have altecs ir and the marshall amp and the super lead and it sound regonizeable but not like yours and your used non of that i tried to get something similar to your setup it sounds nothing like crazy train i even put the pedals using the OG gear your using and it messed up the sound
This tone is perfect however when I try it, it sounds like a muddy mess,boomy and almost no distortion. Tried on several guitars with diff pops. My Jackson rhoads,lp,Jackson dk2m,90 Ibanez rg570, dean z and dean ml....all sound like I described. Going thru a set Mackie monitors. Dunno what's up.

Do The Razors Edge tone if you have time
I thought about that one. One issue is that the guitar tone varies throughout the album. Fire Your Guns is super clean, but Are You Ready is more distorted.
To me it's cheating using this. Get a amp,effects ,turn it up and,...........well, I'm old a nd stuck in my ways . It does sound like that tone ,whi ch was layers of guitar tracks to fatten up the tone because of that Distortion + ,man whe n he started backing that effect off ,his time wa d huge on the Diary tour! Anywa y,keep his memory alive,and this a great way. He was a great teacher and friend, I miss him !
Instead of cheating, I would call honoring as faithfully as I could a really great guitar tone. This was by far the most difficult tone to match within my entire collection of tones.

The Bias FX standard license should be enough to download the presets. The amp is part of my FX preset.
