Great mask! I'm going to try the gold technique on my plastic models. Saw the kappa mask in the background. Dont know many yokai but that one is my favorite. Would be great to see all the yokai masks you have made.

I could watch this for the rest of my life! These masks are works of art. Also I recently made my very own wooden mask for the first time, tho it isn’t anywhere near as good as this one, maybe I should practice and maybe even get actual tools

最近木彫りに興味があるのですが、着色を行わない場合いのひと作品あたりの作業時間はどのくらいなんでしょうか？
ひょっとこは5日くらいで龍は20日かかります、初期は3ヶ月で一つ作っていました。
Astonishing work! It's really detailed. This one and the Kitsune mask are my favorites so far.
On another note, is it painted in green to depict the Seiryū (青龍), the deity of the East? I'm really curious.
The dragon in Japanese masks does not control direction, but represents a mythical serpent. Also, because the general image of a dragon is green.

なぜ絵の具を指で溶かすのでしょうか？筆だと上手く溶けないのですか？
この水干と言う絵の具は塊りを砕いて溶かすので指に粒を感じたら絵の具皿に擦り付けるように溶かします、筆では出来ないですね。

I want to carve masks just like you, but where do you source the wood for them? Hobby stores don’t sell wooden blocks big enough in my country.
Even in Japan, I order from a wood specialty store instead of a hobby shop.

能面など基本、水彩絵の具なので水には弱いです😅
