The fascinating thing about Sonya? Fury trusts her enough to let her know the truth about his wife. It doesn't seem a secret amongst the Skrulls, but how many humans know he's actually married, let alone to an alien? That speaks volumes about the character, and how highly Fury rates her as an ally. Given the line of work they are in, it's nice to see a connection that feels genuine, especially when Fury has lost two close friends in the space of days.

Lady Farnsworth, played by Olivia, was originally the heroine Spitfire, who fought alongside Captain America in World War Two in The Invaders. She is also related to Baron Blood, a famous vampire, and is sometimes a vampire herself, depending on the writer's choice. She is also the benefactor of Union Jack, the other British flag based hero other than Captain Britain.

Lord James Falsworth, the original Union Jack and presumably Sonya's father, appeared as a member of the Howling Commandos in Captain America: The First Avenger. Spitfire in the comics was Lady Jacqueline Falsworth, but they easily could have changed the name for the MCU.

I was in denial that Talos was dead, but the ceremony confirmed that he’s done. I’m personally bummed because I don’t feel like we got enough from the heroic Skrull. He was a real one.
Perhaps now Gi’ah will step up to the plate. She and Priscilla made for a gunslinging duo I didn’t know I needed.
I know it’s been two years, but I actually didn’t expect to see Rick Mason in this show. Then again, it makes sense. He used to be a SHIELD agent, and I believe he secretly had a thing for Nat.
There are five possible candidates that Nick could’ve called:
    1.) Gravik
    2.) Priscilla
    3.) Maria
    4.) Daisy
    5.) Monica

He could've called one of his human allies... the new Captain America (Falcon) is just a human with tech. Florence Pugh would be an awesome cameo and Yelena isn't super-powered or a hero, really. There's also Hawkeye and his protegee (Kate Bishop).

My guess is he was talking to Maria Hill and my hope is the next episode is long.
I'm a big believer that we've been getitng gaslit this whole season along with Gravik's Skrulls. The first bit of evidence for that is that Rhodes intercepted Maria's message to Fury. There is no chance that would have happened unless they wanted him to intercept it, which implies they were not only colluding beforehand, but initiating a plan they had already made.
My thought is that Fury knew Gravik was obsessed with him. This is both because of Fury's broken promise and because Fury knows where the Harvest is. So, Fury himself has been the distraction this whole time, attracting Gravik's, and our, attention, and keeping it off his real plan that's being set up in the background.
Fury makes a big production of being old and haggard, while going form person to person trying to find allies, while stumbling into trap after trap. Its all been theater. Well, most. It really does appear thay Talos died and Gia really could have if she hasn't been a little Fury herself and thought several moves ahead to protect herself.
So, my bet is that Fury knew Gravik was the type of sadist who would have taken joy in hurting Fury anf planned Maria's death. In Winter Soldier, Natasha and Steve spent time with his dead body for a while and yet he wasn't dead, so when it comes to Fury, not even having a body means anything. Maria could have been setting up all the pieces of his plan in the background. Keep in mind that her own mother couldn't view her body, which is unusual.
Also, keep in mind just how many times over the course of the show Fury has openlu discussed sensitive matters out in public. When has Fury ever done that? Never. Just look at Age of Ultron. He used an ex-Shield agent to use a cover to separate Tony off from the crowd to have a private discussion in a private location.
The only reason he would have those concersations, including the ones about how decrepit he was, in public was for the benefit of all the Skrull spies in the room listening in.
Anyways, that's my guess at least.

Just a wild guess, the person Fury called is Maria Hill. It'd be a great move, to fake his most trusted ally's death, and then downplay his abilities to let everyone think he's lost his edge. Then springing some kind of diabolical trap. Probably wishful thinking.

I don't really go along with this weird idea that Rhodes was replaced a long time ago either. Gravik wouldn't had the control or the impetus to do it back then, so it would have had to have been Fury doing it, as he was leading the Skrulls in their activities back then. More, Tony was keeping a close eye on Rhodes progress. As he would have been using his skills to develop assist technologies, he would have investigated Rhodie's injuries so any of this tech woulf support and not aggrivate the injuries. Also, he wouldn't have died from the fall, because a part of the Ironman suit was medical sensors to detect health statistics. The suit would have recorded and announced a death.
Further to the thing on Fury, I don't know if he would disrespect Tony so much by teplacing one of his closest friends.
I wouldn't say it's outside the level of probabilities, just that it's a pretty low probability.

I said this somewhere else too but 2 things:
    1) Is it super easy to just ‘find’ a new planet? What about the Kree - who are at war with Skrulls and have superior technology to Earth?
    And
    2) Who is it that has interplanetary ships? Is it the humans or is it the skrulls? If it’s the latter, why are the skrulls acting so upset at humans? They can leave anytime and go face the Kree.
EDIT: I guess that one plane somehow got Hulk to Sakaar. But that wasn’t exactly explained.

No way Rhodes died in Civil War because Tony checked his vitals and when at the hospital Rhodes had MRI'S done to access the damage.
Now unless Skrulls can immitate broken bones like what Tony described to Natasha, I don't think he was switched then either.
Injuries of that magnitude would have forced his body to turn back.
I believe he might have been a Skrull since Falcon and the Winter Soldier show.
It was weird to me that he needed the leg and spine braces to walk, except during his visit to Sam at the Steve ceremony. He had on his Army "greens" suit but no braces.
Now unless Tony made him a slimmed down one to wear under his pants, I think it was suspicion that he was walking fine with no limp or struggle, nor using a cane or walker to walk with.
I can't wait to find out who that female Skrull, playing him, is.
She seems to really have deep rooted anger issues with Fury.
I don't think Gravik is going to die. I think Fury will.
After watching The Marvels trailer a few times, a "What if...?" moment struck me.
In the trailer, when Fury is calling Carol, he walks towards the windows and the camera pans around him.
On the wall behind him are photos of Monica and information sheets.
    There may be others.
Unless Skrulls have the host in a mind pod they can't remember details for long periods of time. That info about Monica could be a cheat sheet to help Gravik.
What if Fury sacrificed himself to destroy the vial so Gravik couldn't have it, so Gravik is impersonating him in order to get close to both Carol and Monica, for blood samples.
Kamala was probably just a happenstance that fell into his lap.
This isn't going to be a completion of this story arc, but a jumping off point for both Armor Wars and I think Marvel is still doing Secret Wars.
No doubt an end credit for The Marvels will tie into this story arc.
There are too many loose ends to tie up.
I think Val (Ross' ex) is a Skrull leader. She will be in charge of The Thunderbolts. The meeting Ross had with Val and others mentioned that the president wants to attack Wakanda for their resources, ( sidenote: the real Ross is with the Wakandans and I'm sure Val wants to get to him for what he knows) but that seems suss given the way he was smart enough to be hesitant about ordering a strike on Russian soil.
I think maybe we'll get a backstory or reveal on how Soren died in the last episode.
Maybe if Gravik does manage to slip past the team hunting him down, G'iah(Emilia) will be in more Marvel productions later as an ali to whomever Fury appointed his knowledge and mission to.
I really fell for the rumor that we'd get some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D confirmed canon into the MCU because Daisy/Quake would show up to help Fury.
I wanted Melinda May and Chromicon Coulson to be in this show so much. Melinda is my favorite.
Quake showing up will also be a tie in with the Kree experimentations, The Marvels and Skrulls from this show.
Daisy's mom was an experiment of the Kree which changed her Dna....giving her daughter the X gene. Her father may have naturally had the X gene because he was very different than just an ordinary human.

The video wasn't realised for the public, but rather for the various national security and intelligence communities, who certainly knew who both Hill and Fury were. Hence the issuing of a Interpol Red Notice (most wanted). Not that it would seriously inconvenience Fury, but it does slow him down somewhat avoiding incidental entanglements and limiting the extra resources he might be able to call on.
I suspect the Skrull machine only works on Skrulls given their fundamental ability. It's just an enhancement of their shifting ability to integrate the alien DNA.

As the penultimate, it should have been longer to close plot holes. Sonya is great as the "British Punisher", but she can't resolve or alleviate the Skrulls' dilemma. Fury can't afford to allow The Avengers knowledge of their DNA harvested. Imo, Thanos changed Fury's priorities to pursue Tony's plan on protecting Earth before finding a planet. What's missing? Imo fun. Public reports that two former US presidents are Skrulls, Alien Detention Centers, Fury calling "Val" for superpower villains... Also, if Gravik dies, I hope G'iah's disguise is Talos. This SI finale must have 'guns blazing' (including Sonya).

    @funnylilgalreacts,
20:47 and now we know his true motivations! This was never about Fury's promise to the Skrull's was it? This about him becoming super--Gravik is the MCU's Buddy Pine, aka Syndrome.
Gravik arrived on Earth on Earth in his early teens (earth years) in 1997, which is 15 years before the Battle for New York. Prior to that he was exposed to Fury finding all these heroes and this is after hearing about the strongest of them all, Carol Danvers, the human woman who single handedly defeated the Kree, delivering them to refuge here on Earth. Maybe Gravik dreamed of being a hero for his people like all the heroes he grew up watching, but somewhere along the line, those dreams became hyper focused on himself becoming super. Finding a permanent home for his people and their wellbeing were secondary, nothing matters more to him than him wielding the powers of a literal god like Thor, though I don't think he could even if he had his DNA and memories. Thor: Love and Thunder explained to us how a god's powers work, and it is intrinsically to the faith of those who worship THAT god!
    "Asgard isn't a place, it's a people."
    --Odin
So long as there is at least one Asgardian alive who believes in their god Thor, Thor will have his powers. Gravik might be able to make himself look and sound like Thor in everyway, but he will never be Thor. Asgardian's worship Thor, not Gravik, so why should Thor's powers transfer to someone that isn't him? One would assume that Thor's power is a higher power and cannot be manipulated by Skrull subterfuge. No matter what Gravik or any Skrull does, they shouldn't be able to use Thor's powers in anyway, and if I'm not mistaken, we already saw that looking and sounding like someone isn't enough to have that person's powers not too long ago. Loki pretended to be All Father Odin, and while the people of Asgard believed Loki was Odin, Odin's power did not! If Loki had Odin's power he wouldn't have had to fear Mjolnir when Thor called it to him with his hands behind Loki's head. No matter how anyway tries to be a god, I don't think that'll ever be possible.
Most Avengers had powers that were rather insignificant to the average Skrull given how much stronger they are naturally in comparison to humans, so while the Power Broker originally did want Dr. Erskine's Super Soldier serum, I'm not sure how beneficial it would have been for Skrulls. I suppose it would have made a Skrull stronger than they are, so as strong as a Hulk? Maybe, but Dr. Erskine's formula as a negative side effect that Dr. Wilfred Nigel either didn't know about or couldn't fix, which is that the serum makes a person more of who they already are. Gravik would truly be a monster with his temperament dialed up to eleven.
Wanda's powers wouldn't do him any good either, at least not in the short term. In the MCU witchcraft is an innate ability a person is born with as we saw with Wanda, Agatha and it would seem Ned Leeds. Sorcery is the form of magic anyone can learn via the mastery of spells as we've seen with the Ancient One, Stephen Strange, Wang and even America Chavez. It took years and a lot of trauma to get Scarlett to use her powers in the way that she did in Endgame, Gravik would be starting from scratch.
Hulk's powers are probably impossible for any Skrull to have for the very reason that Skrulls are immune to radiation. If you're immune to radiation, shouldn't you also be immune to radiated blood? As we saw in She-Hulk, Bruce's blood aggressively takes over a person's immune system, making everything in that person it, sort of like Ego's plan to takeover the universe, but on a much smaller scale, a person's body. But if you're immune to radiation, your body should make the aggressive Hulk blood inert the moment it entered your body, no?
Clint and Natasha were regular people with top tier skills, probably not much to offer a soldier, but skills are skills.
Gravik wants the Harvest, yes, but what he wants the most is very likely the powers Fury mentioned by name, Carol Danvers'! Her powers are the only powers anyone really needs--it is, after all, the power that was enough to stop Ronin's arm!
Who was on the other end of Fury's call? Maria Hill, is my guess. We got confirmation that Fury had the Harvest moved this episode. How does a person being watched move something without being seen? By having a person believed dead move it. Maria being seen alive and with Fury is the fastest way to remove is Interpol Red Notice too. Fury and Maria knew they were being watched in Russia, and that's likely why they had their very sensitive talk in public in that bar. They planted the idea in Gravik's head to kill one of them, and with Maria believed to be dead, there was no need to keep eyes on her.
With this series dovetailing into the Marvels, I suspect that we'll see Monica Rambeau in the finale too in some fashion, perhaps Vision too? I still find it odd that they killed Soren off screen, which makes me think we'll see her too--why did they show her in a flashback if they weren't going to use her for anything else? I'd like to think that Talos has a chance to come back too, but we just burned his body, so I guess he's truly gone ='(
This episode was my least favorite of the series, but it didn't answer some questions while exposing Gravik in the process. This wasn't about New Skrullos, or the Skrulls. It was about Gravik becoming super! What a jerk!

@@damaruslove8688 While I wouldn't be against the cast of AOS being included in the MCU, it feels like a big swing to suddenly reveal one of them in a crucial, secret role in the final episode of this show. With Daredevil, they first eased him in a relatively unimportant cameo in Spider-man before giving him a bigger role in She-Hulk and putting Kingpin in Hawkeye.
Maybe if Fitz or someone had cameoed in an early episode to get people prepared, then I could see Daisy being the crucial back-up... but if they're going to drop a surprise guest star in the last episode, I think it has to be someone that they expect the audience already knows well.

I really hate Gravik myself... There have been complaints that Marvel offs villains too quickly, but I'll be really upset if Gravik is the exception.
My speculation for the end: In this kind of story I suspect the whole point at the end is to show that Fury has been ahead of things this whole time (they even set it up with the call where Gravik mocks the reputation), so I still don't count out Maria Hill being still alive... especially with the reveal that there exists another Widow's Veil that disguises a person's entire body. My bet is that Fury has had *someone* in this show using it from the beginning, possibly Beto who was just supposedly killed by Gravik for the assassination attempt (kind of a pointless character, if that's the end of him).
Now, who is actually under the disguise? There are some options, but someone who can survive what looked fatal. If it's someone powerful like Carol then you need to explain why they waited to take out Gravik (My best guess would be to give time to separate the true traitors among the skrulls from the more innocent ones.)

Beto was the audience viewpoint character on Graavik's little revolution. He came in looking for sanctuary, and he got cashed out rebelling against Graavik. He shows that Graavik is irredeemable, that everything can go into the fire but him, and the people that follow him now do so out of fear.

Hey, Angela! This episode was disappointing.
They spent the hour treading water covering ground already trod.
The show seems to be shrinking rather than expanding in scope!
Sonya asks a good question. There's too much at stake for Fury to tackle this alone in the state he's in!
Gravik turned rabid too quickly, his followers rebelling happened too quickly and it was squashed too quickly.
Fury should have put one in Rhodey before the Secret Service guy with the sling could react to expose him just like Sonya did with her superior.
Why was Varra nonchalantly chatting with G'iah knowing a hit squad was coming? A big risk to take instead of stealthily laying in wait. Why didn't Gravik send Super-Skrulls after her? She beat them too easily.
The Harvest and Varra's sensitivity about not being accepted by Fury in her true form were the only interesting developments.
It doesn't look like anything from the comic is going to be adapted. Such a shame.
An explanation as to why Thanos' garden world wasn't an ideal relocation site was given. Skrulls like the cold! Thanos' farm looked tropical. Still, that world probably has polar regions, no? It doesn't track, though. If Skrulls are reptilian, they should be cold-blooded and should find a warm, humid climate delightful.
Hopefully, the finale is strong but somehow I doubt it.

I'm glad you liked She-hulk. It was unfairly maligned, though I didn't enjoy the finale at all, and the Wrecking Crew, which gave Hulk so many problems, was made into a joke. Of course this Wrecking Crew wasn't enchanted by Loki. You also spared Quantumania, which was only bad because of MODOK, and the excessive mask reveals during battle. Sort of like Thor, Love and Thunder, which was a very touching movie that allowed three minutes of silliness, TOPS, to define it as silly. What were they thinking with MODOK?
I was not a fan of Moon Knight. Regardless of the acting on display, it would have better been entitled, "Anything But Moon Knight" Imagine Ms. Marvel with no Kamala from episode 3 through 5.
It's funny how Super Skrulls have been twisted by Sony and then Marvel. If memory serves correct, the first Super Skrull ha all the powers of The Fantastic Four, at once, but we saw Johnny Storm do that,.. Now we have them showing up before the FF, with Groot and extremis powers.
I no longer try to guess things like "what's in the vial," because Marvel seems to take the surprise avenue every time.

I have to say, about Beto - I don't have much sympathy for him. He only turned on Gravik when Gravik started killing Skrulls. He had no problem with killing the human race. So too bad that he failed to kill Gravik but I'm okay with him dying.

He's a Skrull - why SHOULD he care about killing humans? I mean, it'd be awesome if he was more like Talos, but not every Skrull has an awesome human bestie like Fury. If you flipped it, there are definitely a lot of humans who wouldn't have a problem wiping out another species to survive...

  • @jmartin4396

As with most of this season, there were some great scenes here. Along with some really bad writing. Gravick's speech was full of contradictions. He ordered Varra to kill Fury but he didn't kill him after that because they still need him but order Varra's execution because she didn't kill him. That was all in three consecutive sentences.
All of the Avenger's DNA being in one little vial makes less than no sense. Why would he have to send in a special team for the cleanup?
The entire entire mausoleum scene took me right out of it. An entire creche just for the eye patch? Come on.
If I remember right from Captain Marvel, The Kree/Scrull War has been going on for generations. Why is 30 years too long to wait? What is the real trigger for Gravick being how he is? I think it is going to come out that the more he goes in the machine the more unstable he becomes. We'll see.

I will admit i'm not really feeling Secret Invasion, Gravik is kinda one-dimensional, character deaths feel more like actors wanting out of contracts than anything and almost none of the cast feel like they are giving 100%. But Olivia Coleman shines, she is giving 100% and feels like shes having heaps of fun. I want her to replace Fury's role in the MCU when Sam Jackson retires. As always though, your reactions are top notch :)
