Thanks for all the tips. After being thoroughly disappointed by so many anime games the past few years this one has finally been something I'm having fun learning and playing. Just to point out a few things I noticed: For Tip 1, deflecting a projectile with Perception costs two Skill Counts. It does seem obvious but wasn't specifically mentioned in the video. For Tip 3 (the melee combo), it's worth mentioning (and is mentioned in the video at 11:20) that technically, pretty much any attack in this game can be avoided or countered in some form - Super Counters can be used at no cost at any time during a rush attack, and most other attacks can be Vanished or Z-Countered. As a result, there are no "true combos" in this game. With that being said, it is very difficult to consistently perform Super Counters and Vanishes. For Tip 5, another benefit to using your Ki Blasts to approach is, if your opponent is deflecting Ki Blasts, they are *not* blocking, so your following Rush attacks will connect. Another tip for getting behind your opponents, check your character's Rush Chain moves (found under "Explanantion of Controls" in the pause menu) and see if your character has access to "Rolling Hammer" - This attack will cause your opponent to be spun around, turning their back to you. On the topic of Rush Chains, it was briefly mentioned in the video that using the same Rush Chain twice will end your combo, and I just want to clarify that this means you can't use the same *type* of Rush Chain twice, even if it's on a different Rush count. For example, if you check Vegito's movelist at 9:18, you can see he has "Heavy Finishes" as both his first Rush Chain and his fourth Rush Chain. This means that if you did your first Rush Chain, then went into your fourth one, your combo will still end, even though you did a "different" Rush Chain. One last tip for a certain angry UA-cam commenter (you know who you are), it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, if you talk to people like an asshole when giving feedback, everyone will write you off as just an asshole, so take a moment to remember there's another person on the other side of the screen and remember we're all here for the love of the game.

Another thing i've noticed but i don't see anyone bring up is the fact that the longer the combo chain is, the less damage the super/ultimate attack do. Try it urself if you do a super kamehameha with early goku does like 15k but if you do it after a 20+ combo string it does far less damage. So DON'T OVEREXTEND YOUR COMBOS IF U WANNA FINISH WITHA SUPER/ULTIMATE
To be honest I don't think there is combo scaling, you probably used the ultimate on an opponent who is knocked over on the ground who then takes less damage
After watching tons of tutorials trying to learn this game, this one right here is the best one by far. Very concise and practical tips, great job with the vid my man
This was an awesome video, thank you for that. I dont play a lot of fighting games, Sparking Zero is the first one where I really wanna get good and compete online against others. But I quickly get overwhelmed and panic, especially with all the different defense options, so I especially appreciate the part where you showed which attacks can be countered with which mechanism
So on the note of shorter high damaging combo's. I know most people aren't a fan of rush chains and their follow combo's, but I really like the Rolling Press combo, it's not too hard to pull off, it's really fast and does a lot of damage. It also looks freaking cool. Usually it's on the big body type characters. The other rush chain I like a lot is the one on the Ki focus characters (I forget what it's called, but it's no the Kiai Cannon one), You fire the wide wave, the enemy flies up like they were up smashed, you then IT up there smash them down and fire a volley of ki blasts. The best part is those ki blasts don't use your Ki and it also does a crap ton of damage. This one is also really easy to pull off. Both of these moves do about 6-8k depending on the character, are fast, and because it's short it's harder for players to get the proper timing for getting out of it. I've also never seen the "hard" AI computer get out of these basic rush chain combo's either (From behind, because they'll still revenge counter frequently)
It's funny, after just watching your other video and saying my combos were lacking, here it is an entire video of everything I need lol. Thanks for this, these were really great tips.
14:27 Pro tip for super counters - If you can map the up+square (counter) to one button then you'll become much better at utilizing it defensively like a pro.
@@SoulKingsss I don't have it mapped in sparking zero. (kind of don't have the game lol) I did it with DBZ BT3 on emulators and I z-counter a lot easier. I mapped it to L3. If there's a way you can map it then I'm sure it would make players better at the game the same way.
I don't think you're able to in sparking zero I just checked the settings and couldn't find it. Then again I'm blind ASF so I'll look deeper into it hahah
Oohhhhh this makes everything make so much more sense. I thought you were just allowed 2 steps per combo, regardless of what you actually did, but this opens up so much more. And yeah I'm 1000% guilty of just holding up and mashing square to get the super counter lmfao.
So fun fact about fusion: With Goku Black and Zamasu fusing, if you try to initiate the fusion via Goku Black, he has to be in Rose form in order to fuse, requiring a total of 5 blast stock to fuse. However, Zamasu can fuse from the get go even if Black is in base, requiring only 3 blast stock to fuse. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but it's worth noting for those who play them together and intend on fusing them mid fight.
Similar to Part of video i was slightly wrong about. So when playing as GT Goku, must be in SS4 to fuse into Gojeta. However, when playing as SS4 Vegeta, GT Goku can still be base form (in background) and use fusion into gojeta. while playing as ss4 vegeta. So thats odd but makes sense
@@SoulKingsssfusions and base form power ups are a strategic gamble since you actually do power up when powering up instead of just choosing the immediate options
Thanks for the video. I have some extra tips and tricks for yall😊 Going sparking mode against great enemies will stagger them and so you'll get easy 20 hit combos. Beating great ape vegeta has never been this easy. Also a few tips. Dragon rush is easy counter-able so dash and wait a second to counter your enemy. If you do a short dash then a dragon dash without steering youll go straight at your enemy. While going straight at your enemy gives you the opportunity to hold your chain attack to do a hold attack. Timing this gives you an evasion hold attack that appears behind your enemy. Youll easily start a combo in the enemy's back like this. Using perception on a beam blast costs 2 skill points so don't over use it. In sparking mode you'll get 20 hits before your enemy gets blown away. So reset the combo by using a short dash close up or just drop your combo and continue. Use your sparking mode until the last bar and then end it with your ultimate move. But leaving sparking mode without ending it will put you on max Ki again so you'll be able to chain 2 sparking modes easily. You can use an attack and dash instantly to evade a super counter from your enemy if they perfectly counter you. So use like X/Square and then A/X as a dash. It is the best answer if someone uses up and X/Square so a perfect counter to stop your attacks. Perfect perception costs 1 Skill point. The move that youll dodge the enemy slowmotion. Keep this in mind when you try to pull it off.
I’ve been watching a lot videos for Tips and Tricks but this video is by far the best. Good stuff! I’ll definitely be rewatching this and following along as I train.
Bro listen, just train your eyes to see their movements. You will start to see attacks punches more slowly. For me it’s mostly about hand and eye coordination. Super counter used to be so hard to me but now I’m just doing it constantly back to back😂, unless I am in a laggy match.
Super helpful video! I never played any of other Budokai Tenkaichi games so I had no idea what I was doing, I did the tutorial but I am a type that learns better by analyzing when others do it so your video massively improved my gameplay. Thanks a bunch!
Hi guys, I wanted to point out a problem that has been damaging the game since its release and that few people have noticed so far. Searching around Reddit I discovered that it is a bug that mainly affects those who play with Classic controls rather than Standard (the new ones). The problem itself arises when you use Classic controls and someone online in PvP is hosting the game (for example you play with a map that you have not chosen) and uses Standard controls and not Classic ones as your own, at that point the Skills become bugged: you will no longer be able to perform Skill 1 (with L2+Triangle) because it will always perform the second one in its place (with L2+Up and Triangle), and it also breaks the input needed to change characters in the game when playing in DP mode, making it impossible to perform a switch between characters. I read of someone who gave advice on how to solve it, for example they say to set the same controls also in "Player 2" by going into the controls settings and changing from Player 1 to 2, among the first options, and set everything equal to Player 1, because when you have an opponent against you who acts as a host it is as if you become the "Player 2"; even if this seems to work only in matches played in lobby. Others recommended disabling all the options that provide passive accessibility aids. Personally both did not work, many people are furious and are trying to make themselves heard so that Bandai starts to fix the problem that really breaks the gaming experience in Ranked. If anyone has encountered the problem please spread the word because there is very little knowledg about it and there are no videos about it from someone who could be noticed more by Bandai, I hope all this has helped you to clarify if you too have encountered this bug and have not found much information about it ❤
You the only youtuber that i watched so far thats mentioned the step in combo i mean it was the something known from the last Tenkaichi game and noone mentioned it in their tutorials
Second tip about the Zeni refund is absolutely insane. Thanks for the heads up! I have been hoarding my Zeni and grinding through episode battles and challenges to unlock quickly. Now I can just take it easier and have fun with it on the story
One thing i wished they brought back. Stage transitions and the iconic beam finishes eg/ the kamehameha off the planet or spirit bomb explosion from outta space to show the impact of the finishes 😅
Really enjoyed this video. Informative, and funny at times, but you weren't loud and obnoxious like so many others. Will definitely be checking out more of your videos.
Honestly, This is the best video i’ve seen by far! Everyone else basically covers what the game already teaches you. I play Androids, and just realised why i’ve been playing them wrong!! Also, the beam deflection buff was very handy info. Idea for a vid, what do all the buff symbols mean? (no idea if it shows somewhere in game)
@@SoulKingsss yeah i just had no idea about the buff after. I just went and tested if it speeds up Android energy. Unfortunately, the buff seems useless on androids
ayoo bro so u can see what buffs each skill has in the 'explanation controls' tab when press Start. Look at the skills, itll tell u what buffs it adds. So u can match up each buff to determine what the symbols mean!
@@carlsep17 Play Episode Battle on Goku then go to the last fight on the Namek Saga, the one where you fight vs Full Power Frieza winning it gives you the costume for 300k, you can even lower the difficulty and the reward stays the same
The Super Counter activation on when the hit lands rather than just before is a huge tip. Couldn't even do it in training consistently. Excited to get home and try this tip immediately!
If no one knew, characters like Piccolo & Frieza can charge Ki normally if not quicker under water for some reason. Maybe it’s because Piccolo only consumes water & Frieza doesn’t need to breathe 😂
I never played the original budokai series before and I never really play fighting games at all (only one I played was Injustice 2) so looking at all these tip videos just show how dedicated I am at getting better at a game in a genre I rarely even look at.
I don't know why, but teleportation seems more difficult than BT3. I have difficulty to read the fight with this opus (I can't play with standard settings D: )
I can play with both control settings but I feel the classic controls make vanishing from rush and ki supers way easier. But the game play is definitely way faster than its predecessor so you just gotta play and get used to it
Thank you so much for this video. I was really struggling to learn this game. Was ready to give up cos I thought the controls were never gonna stick with me. After this video I played for a few hours and even got messages saying I was a good player but making silly mistakes (my fault not being a fighting game guy appart from dbz games) and now I'm really enjoying it. Still got alot of timings to learn but it's so much more fun now
Tutorial tells you about the Ki Buff after deflecting? Tutorial tells you WHEN to use Ki Blasts to stagger effectively? Tutorial tells you that charging underwater is slowed? Tips to play Androids? Which strength of characters can stagger giants? Which combos the enemy can recover from or not? i could go on. but yeah sure man you caught me 👍 i showed the tutorial in this video, im not hiding anything lmao
The fact they return the Zeni for unlocking something you bought is actually so nice. Ive never seen that. But it makes it a lot more rewarding to keep playing after you've purchased characters you didnt want to wait to unlock.
Well rounded guide, a step above most of those I've had a look at since release =) Just wanted to give a quick clarification regarding health Values. Something I haven't heard talked about much/if at all is that every character in this game has a defense value as well (so some take less and some take more damage) My testing parameters were as follows: Cooler Final Form doing a single attack (ki blast or punch as an example) So keeping this in mind, Hercule is at the very bottom taking roughly 45% more damage compared to your average Goku (934 damage to 506 damage) and the best examples are the Giants, especially Golden Greate Ape Baby and Large Janemba (who take about half the damage compared to your average Goku) But the funniest example was that of the non giants, those with the best defense stat are Recoome/Beerus/Whis/Toppo GOD+ Fused Zamasu Half-Corrupted (426 or 427 damage)
@@SoulKingsss Pretty interesting for sure! I'll save you the hassle, the relevant values are on Page 13 of my document enjoy docs.google.com/document/d/1bAnR73jBHkpzgmfJc5i9wJwMDmDC7CC2qndl5hWXyhY/edit?usp=sharing
Further of note, Sparking buffs damage by 10% but doesn't increase defense however some characters also gain the armoured effect when in Sparking (again listed in the document haha) or those with the false courage or equivalent skill. So it appears it was actually removed from Broly and friends (did a bunch of tests with it yesterday and even Legendary SSJ were still getting hit out of things) with the only form of it left on Giant characters, who again can be broken by SSJ3 Goku and above just like in the older games. More depth than I expected for this kind of game, big fan
Thanks for the tips, im mostly a madden football player but just got into dragon zero and its so fun. As soon as you said watch your own film of your fight i was like yup just like madden to get better i like this guy.
Thanks for the tips! I've been playing for 2 days but not really that conscious about what I'm doing. I need to get more comfortable with the mechanics before jumping into ranked =)
6:55 as an alternative for those who like Classic controls but actually don't mind the analog stick transformations, I suggest scrolling down the controls menu and swapping the buttons assigned to Team Swap and Emotes. This leaves Transformations on the right stick, puts Team Swap on the left stick, and the dual-stick press (which is a dumb and unreliable command) triggers the emotes. The only weird thing is that when you use the left stick press to open the team swap menu, you still have to use the right stick to select an option (this game needs help with quality of life stuff).
Man when I tell u 17 years I’ve been waiting for this and they made it challenging I love it the hands were glorious if ppl complaining it’s too hard get your skills up
3:20 the quick ki blasts are great for when moving towards an enemy, either they get staggered and hit or they hold block leaving you to land a charged attack - the ki blasts coming at them will block their view of you charging the attack
5:47 yeah I don't get why people think androids are defensive type characters cuz they have never been that way, androids are Frontliners who thrive being up in your face and have been like that in every game
Thanks fellas I hope this video was entertaining and can help some players 💯
*THINGS TO NOTE/ADD*

It's funny, after just watching your other video and saying my combos were lacking, here it is an entire video of everything I need lol. Thanks for this, these were really great tips.
14:27 Pro tip for super counters - If you can map the up+square (counter) to one button then you'll become much better at utilizing it defensively like a pro.
Real warriors don't need macros
which button u got it mapped too??
@@SoulKingsss I don't have it mapped in sparking zero. (kind of don't have the game lol) I did it with DBZ BT3 on emulators and I z-counter a lot easier. I mapped it to L3. If there's a way you can map it then I'm sure it would make players better at the game the same way.
@@KaitouKaiju Yeah, and watch you get destroyed by players who do use macros online.
So fun fact about fusion:
With Goku Black and Zamasu fusing, if you try to initiate the fusion via Goku Black, he has to be in Rose form in order to fuse, requiring a total of 5 blast stock to fuse. However, Zamasu can fuse from the get go even if Black is in base, requiring only 3 blast stock to fuse. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but it's worth noting for those who play them together and intend on fusing them mid fight.
Yeah I caught that with the vegito fusion too. You can't fuse with Goku ssj but vegeta can still fuse in base or ssj
This kind of thing is very common in this series. There is an element of strategy to team order
thats great i love these little details
Similar to Part of video i was slightly wrong about. So when playing as GT Goku, must be in SS4 to fuse into Gojeta. However, when playing as SS4 Vegeta, GT Goku can still be base form (in background) and use fusion into gojeta. while playing as ss4 vegeta.
So thats odd but makes sense
@@SoulKingsssfusions and base form power ups are a strategic gamble since you actually do power up when powering up instead of just choosing the immediate options
This really was an eye opener for me, I noticed things that I need to work on and new things that can help me in battle, thanks man
Hope this helps you clap some cheeks out there💪
Thanks for the video. I have some extra tips and tricks for yall😊
Going sparking mode against great enemies will stagger them and so you'll get easy 20 hit combos.
Those are actually really solid tips bro 💯💯
One of the best videos I’ve found yet. Thanks!
Glad I could help man thanks 💯
awesome video man, the best tutorial ive seen so far, thanks bud
Noice Thats rlly great to hear bro thanks🙏
I’ve been watching a lot videos for Tips and Tricks but this video is by far the best. Good stuff! I’ll definitely be rewatching this and following along as I train.
Up + X is the only defensive technique i cant do consistently. Mastering that is one of the only thing I believe is holding me back.
Yeah imma see if I can make touch pad = up so I can mash it or maybe get a pro controller cuz I don’t want to mess up my analog
@@jay_gabriel144 personally I’m pretty sure my problem is i think of it as a parry and do it to early
@@concealedlag9379yea i had to drill in my head that it’s hit press not press then be hit
Bro listen, just train your eyes to see their movements. You will start to see attacks punches more slowly. For me it’s mostly about hand and eye coordination. Super counter used to be so hard to me but now I’m just doing it constantly back to back😂, unless I am in a laggy match.
@@playboijay330could u explain bro, so I anticipate the hit and then hit up and saaure or I hit after they hit me
Super helpful video!
Giving all the gems, guess it’ll make for better comp, great guide best one I’ve seen so far 🔥
💪💪💪💪🙏🙏🙌🙌
Second tip about the Zeni refund is absolutely insane. Thanks for the heads up! I have been hoarding my Zeni and grinding through episode battles and challenges to unlock quickly. Now I can just take it easier and have fun with it on the story
One thing i wished they brought back. Stage transitions and the iconic beam finishes eg/ the kamehameha off the planet or spirit bomb explosion from outta space to show the impact of the finishes 😅
onm i thought it was gonna be there but we got tha crowd leaving instead😔
Really enjoyed this video. Informative, and funny at times, but you weren't loud and obnoxious like so many others. Will definitely be checking out more of your videos.
Honestly, This is the best video i’ve seen by far!
Everyone else basically covers what the game already teaches you.
I play Androids, and just realised why i’ve been playing them wrong!!
Also, the beam deflection buff was very handy info.
Idea for a vid, what do all the buff symbols mean? (no idea if it shows somewhere in game)
btw for beam deflecting, note it does cost 2 skill points to deflect a beam
that would be good idea for video bcuz nobody knows what those do 😂
@@SoulKingsss yeah i just had no idea about the buff after. I just went and tested if it speeds up Android energy. Unfortunately, the buff seems useless on androids
@@mrdcmf yeah i figured it wouldnt. Androids should have unlimited Ki Blasts or somthin man, they suppose to never run out of energy
ayoo bro so u can see what buffs each skill has in the 'explanation controls' tab when press Start. Look at the skills, itll tell u what buffs it adds. So u can match up each buff to determine what the symbols mean!
Solid Tips & tricks indeed I expericed some of them myself... neat work mate, best tips & tricks so far on youtube
Can we all just take a second to appreciate the scenery at 3:45
This game is very neat with scenery
Great video, man. As someone who never played any of the previous games this was a BIG help to me!
oh yeah, youll GID GUD asap man just keep playing, lmk if you have any questions 🙌
1:16 you get a 300k expensive costume in Goku vs Frieza on destroyed namek btw so you can abuse this :3
How we do this?!
@@carlsep17 Play Episode Battle on Goku
then go to the last fight on the Namek Saga, the one where you fight vs Full Power Frieza
winning it gives you the costume for 300k, you can even lower the difficulty and the reward stays the same
The Super Counter activation on when the hit lands rather than just before is a huge tip.
Couldn't even do it in training consistently. Excited to get home and try this tip immediately!

Thanks for all the tips. Really needed help specially with understanding the counter system 👍🏽

If no one knew, characters like Piccolo & Frieza can charge Ki normally if not quicker under water for some reason.
Maybe it’s because Piccolo only consumes water & Frieza doesn’t need to breathe 😂
the details in this game are insane😭😭
Awesome video! There are definitely some great tips and tricks here I haven't seen yet. Looking forward to trying them out.
Number 18 was the best by far
I never played the original budokai series before and I never really play fighting games at all (only one I played was Injustice 2) so looking at all these tip videos just show how dedicated I am at getting better at a game in a genre I rarely even look at.
I don't know why, but teleportation seems more difficult than BT3. I have difficulty to read the fight with this opus (I can't play with standard settings D: )
That's cause this game is faster than BT3. The timing for vanish is a lil shorter now. It just takes some getting used to is all
I can play with both control settings but I feel the classic controls make vanishing from rush and ki supers way easier. But the game play is definitely way faster than its predecessor so you just gotta play and get used to it
Thorough enough for me. Thanks for the gameplay preview and tips+trick, the game reminds me of the PS2 days so much and I need to get it.
How do you block like at 00:10?
Lemme know when you find out
@@fiendishme4311that’s when you counter someone’s perception with ur own perception

this video is for the new comers, i cant see anything in the video for the tenkaichi vets not knowing this but it is an excellent video forsure
well i figured some small details about this game maybe, like the Ki Charge buff after deflecting beam? maybe lmao
@SoulKingsss nah bro you did right making this video, I learned stuff my self and people coming from xenoverse DEFINITELY need this video.
@@SuperWillywonka101 oh yeah the xeno's deff 😂😭 well good comments, thanks
Thank you so much for this video. I was really struggling to learn this game. Was ready to give up cos I thought the controls were never gonna stick with me. After this video I played for a few hours and even got messages saying I was a good player but making silly mistakes (my fault not being a fighting game guy appart from dbz games) and now I'm really enjoying it. Still got alot of timings to learn but it's so much more fun now
how do we do block like @0:10 ?
When they Z counter you like how frieza did to him hold circle or b if you play on Xbox only works on z counters I think
@@noaharroyo8939not z counters , it works when they revenge counter
yup ^ Revenge Counters
Hold Circle if the enemy presses the r3 counter. The tutorials will teach you this if you go through them all
if they counter your attack, you counter that counter in time -> it creates this animation
Definitely enjoyed the video and dropped a like. The counters are what got me getting beat up so your explanation on them truly helped. Thx again.

Wow! Didnt realize you get a buff when you deflect beams! Such a nice tip and makes it that much more worth it! Thank you man
as a long time player of the series i thank you for your dedication and am excited to use what ive learned from this
The fact they return the Zeni for unlocking something you bought is actually so nice. Ive never seen that. But it makes it a lot more rewarding to keep playing after you've purchased characters you didnt want to wait to unlock.
Well rounded guide, a step above most of those I've had a look at since release =)
Just wanted to give a quick clarification regarding health Values.
Something I haven't heard talked about much/if at all is that every character in this game has a defense value as well (so some take less and some take more damage)
My testing parameters were as follows:
Cooler Final Form doing a single attack (ki blast or punch as an example)
So keeping this in mind, Hercule is at the very bottom taking roughly 45% more damage compared to your average Goku (934 damage to 506 damage)
and the best examples are the Giants, especially Golden Greate Ape Baby and Large Janemba (who take about half the damage compared to your average Goku)
But the funniest example was that of the non giants, those with the best defense stat are Recoome/Beerus/Whis/Toppo GOD+ Fused Zamasu Half-Corrupted (426 or 427 damage)
Yeaaa im beginning to notice that. Ima look into it and see which stats are affecting that
@@SoulKingsss Pretty interesting for sure!
I'll save you the hassle, the relevant values are on Page 13 of my document enjoy
docs.google.com/document/d/1bAnR73jBHkpzgmfJc5i9wJwMDmDC7CC2qndl5hWXyhY/edit?usp=sharing

6:55 as an alternative for those who like Classic controls but actually don't mind the analog stick transformations, I suggest scrolling down the controls menu and swapping the buttons assigned to Team Swap and Emotes. This leaves Transformations on the right stick, puts Team Swap on the left stick, and the dual-stick press (which is a dumb and unreliable command) triggers the emotes. The only weird thing is that when you use the left stick press to open the team swap menu, you still have to use the right stick to select an option (this game needs help with quality of life stuff).
Excellent video man. Very helpful and clear.
