I can relate so much to this...and I really appreciate the fact that you got the guts to put it out like the raw footage...you just made me realise that one can be happy being their self without stepping on the negatives...kudos

It’s interesting watching these videos because I stutter the exact same way as you do (except my letters I have the most trouble with are H, S and T) and watching these are very helpful for me. Something I noticed is when I am distracted on something like computer games or multi-tasking or listening to something or change the pitch of my voice I rarely stutter but when I talk normally without anything I stutter just like you do. When I sing I never stutter and I think it’s kinda interesting and weird on how these random things work. Very good video!

Wow, you have a beautiful singing voice, and a gorgeous smile! This phenomenon of not having a stutter when you sing or talk in accents is truly amazing. To answer your question, I would say yes, that is how it feels to speak fluently. Also, my son stutters, and I really appreciate your channel, and hearing about things from your unique perspective. I think it’s fantastic that you are a speech language pathologist! Thank you for making these videos!

Thank you! And thanks for sharing about your son. I hope these videos can give you perspective to understand him a bit better. :)

Q: as you are attempting to say a tongue twister sentence and you get stuck on a letter M, D, W.... what are you actually reading or looking at while repeating endlessly (so it seems) the same letter? Are your eyes fixated on the letter or the word or the rest of the sentence? Your smile and eyes is so beautiful that one doesn’t hear your stutter. Your smile is infectious.

Thank you! I'm not exactly looking at anything. When I'm reading, I'm just looking at the word and when I look away I'm just focusing on trying to say the next sound.

Can you explain what do you actually mean that you have “so much anxiety build up on the words that start from M and D and W”? Since you are a professional and can exercise thinking and logic in your own stutter how can you get soooooo anxious about these sounds? Can’t you find another solution to say these sounds? Can’t you see patterns of stuttering on specific sounds and work with possibilities to free yourself as you get into a severe block? Very helpful stuff! 😇😇😇😇

When I say anxiety, I'm referring to the anxiety that has been built up over the years of saying these hard/feared words and having trouble as well as the cognitive aspects of being aware that you take extra time to talk and that listeners often get impatient and/or respond negatively. There are lots of things that therapy can do to help with this such as desensitization of feared words and helping the individual be more comfortable with time pressure and other variables that feed into that anxiety but it's hard and no one is perfect. I still struggle with these things even though I've had great therapy and know, theoretically, what I should do. It's still hard.
