Oh yes electronic slippers is a must. But definately branch off into fixing random everyday objects too, like toasters, hoovers, maybe house phones and TV remote controls. Anything that can be opened up and has a circuit board😆🤟 your loyal follower, Dave🤟
Yes please, different electronics! Game console repair videos seem saturated IMHO, and personally I will probably need to repair one myself. Variety is spice of life! 😀
Reality is that there's a good resale value on used console but on other electronics it's very hard to sell them. Also these have infinite variations so it's not too bad
A variety of electronic device repairs would be good. Not everyone has a need to repair a Switch or Xbox. Your explanations of your repair processes are excellent.
Fixing electronics is a gold mine. I was looking for a switch for our family and the going rate (in Australia) at the time was $300+ second hand. I guy was selling one with a few issues for $140 with the dock so I took a gamble. Just needed two new ribbon cables (one for each joycon) and a new right rail on the switch and it worked 100% Total cost of parts to me was $14 and about 30 minutes to complete. I think people need to not be scared to open up and replace parts on things.
I’m glad you had the one with the screen out. I’m new to repairing Switches, and I have one just like that. I can hear it working but no screen. I wasn’t sure where to start troubleshooting, but now I do! Thanks!!
@@why_wait bro it’s not worth sending a broken switch from the States to the UK for a repair. I’ve already repaired it though. This comment is a year old. Thanks for the advice though 🤣
You could consider stuffing the port with cotton or something before dremeling, if it doesn't catch on fire it'll catch all the little metal filings, saves a lot of cleaning.
I'd prefer you to continue with consoles or maybe computers (especially laptops) or tablets, but if you decide to do other repairs as well I'd still be happy to follow your channel.
Having done the same thing with other tech I can tell you that I average about 2 out of 3 that can be fixed while the other one can be used as a parts machine. As long as you shoot for being able to make a small profit from fixing the first one you will be able to consistently come out ahead.
Great content! Very inspirational and loads of useful information. I'd love to see a video of the actual sales of the items. Just a full circle video showing that the model is proven and not just in theory. Again, great content. Cheers
This series seems absolutely interesting :) I'd love to do such microsoldering repairs myself. I once bought a Macbook, repaired the Logic board and sold it again. Did a horrible job on that one, had to make a jumper wire and no clue, what I was doing there actually :) I'd love, if this series had its own balance account. E.g. you start with 50£ and only basic equipment and work your way up from there :)
Would love to see these fixes done without any donor board. It's nice to be able to trial-n-error stuff and find out what is and isn't working by swapping parts over, but what if you don't have access to a known working donor (or bits of it)?
Hey joey, i think with that first switch it was something to do with the ribbon cable for the backlight. When you showed the two small cables on the daughter board one had a slight white mark on the end. Might be the cable scratched/damaged
You should replace the serial number sticker with the original one. For me it wouldn't be a complete repair without everything being correct with the new one. Or simply transfer the screen to the other chassis. People might buy a blue one for a higher price than a yellow one.
On the first Switch Lite I would of done a trick I use to do on laptops and LCD screens in the 90's to mid 2000's to determine if it was the screen of just the backlight. Shine a high powered flash light across the screen at an angle, if the LCD is working with no backlight you should be able to see a faint image on the screen if you get the light and your head positioned right. Which would say bad backlight. Otherwise probably be a bad LCD panel. Also from my experience the backlight or backlight power invertor goes out way more often than the LCD itself.
I too also call for different items. Happy to see consoles, but they just seem pretty predictable now due to your knowledge and I for one would like to see some new discoveries, even if older retro consoles.
Trouble is Labour at an hourly rate will have a very large impact on net profit. Seeing as you are in the UK and use sterling just have spreadsheet columns for labour and tax and then we can see real profit (net). No confusion then.
He's doing the work himself though, so the labor is the profit. Once all other costs are factored you calculate the remainder as profits per hour, that's your net.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I will start bidding the same items you are bidding. Will try fixing for aernings also. I do hope i will won more auctions than you do. Will check buy it now items also regularly.
(Sorry for poor grammar btw) Such a lucky repairs, however i've got one question. Why you used usb port from full size switch, instead of this first console with broken lcd? I mean, it works but you just make yourself more work with grinding! Anyway, I've subbed, hope to see more good repairs
No , not a wast of time removing the sticker from the screen protector , the screen protector is there for a reason as it's name suggests. Five minutes of " work " and the protector is still there doing it's job
great video - always really enjoy your channel/content. Once your repair these consoles do you always resell them just as the console only - ie no cables. controllers etc
Great video dude! After the first Switch fix you said ‘Parental Controls have been removed’ how did you go about doing that? I bought one with them on and as they are attached to someone’s account I cannot get it off😬 Even contacted Nintendo and they said they can’t do anything 😕 Thanks dude
Man, if a case can sell for 30 quid, wouldn't it be most profitable to buy these broken systemes, fix them until you know all the parts work, and then just sell every single part separately as tested repair parts? I understand that that's a lot more tedious, but it seems like you could really maximize the profit per unit that way.
You are using a wireless soldering iron in your videos? I was looking for a decent soldering iron and hot air station something better then this combo set I have right now. Any recommendations?
That ribbon cable connecting the motherboard and daughter board was bad on one of the switch lites I got and it did the same thing. Everything looked good so I tested each pin and one pin was bad swapped it and screen worked fine
Weird connection but the transition music you use at about three and a half minutes is the exact same music as used on NorCalCycling for transitions and race footage.
this is one of those things i never understand how you could get into. It looks fun and a fairly good turnover but where on earth do you get the knowledge on how to do this! i would be way too scared to buy a broken switch with the intent of repairing it.

With some screens with a dead or non working backlight you can sometimes shine a flashlight on it and you can vaguely see the screen if it's on.
Second unit fuls marked P - probably polyfuse - ie resets itself. The continuity issue on it was probably conformal coating as opposed to flux.
