obsessed with this series 😭
😍😍😍 Thankyou!
What is bro doing here lmfao
Joey's channel is really growing atm and even UA-cam themself commented!
I see 50k at the end of the year very possible
no way
@@ViilmoI give it 2 months
Epic fix there Joey, very nice! 👍
Thanks for the Spoiler…
@@nickg1688 no worries 😅
Thankyou mate ❤
I love both of your content! Wish i had the steady hands for it!
Joey, stripped screws can be removed with Valve Lapping Compound (Course). Fill the hole with the compound and insert the screwdriver and carefully take it out. Its been one of the oldest tricks in the book and definitely worth trying before breaking any plastics. I hope you find this helpful. The compound can be purchased from your local auto parts supplier for approximately $8-$12. It would be nearly a lifetime supply as you don't need much. Have a great day!!!
Thankyou! I’ve just purchased some so will give it a test in a future video. Thanks for much for the advice!
You’ve gotten so good at diagnosing and repairs over the past few years. Truly an inspiration.
Thankyou Eathen 😊
That pop at 25:11 was heartbreaking but you got the job done. Nice work.
Man, you're a Legend ! You are doing these tiny microsolderings like it's nothing. I still struggle with basic microsoldering and you perfected your technique so much. I'm flabbergasted!
Thankyou :)
What a brutal repair! These are the repairs that make you think you can fix anything and then you spend insane amounts of time on a repair that actually can’t be fixed.
One of your best videos. It's a bit longer that I like, more technical, you didn't give up and the twist in the end made the final result so much more satisfying.
You should take a minute and ensure they aren't first gen (unpatched) switches. You mentioned sell price of $100 for that first one, but if it is an unpatched switch. That number for tablet only can be around $200
Awesome diagnostics, Awesome repair! With the speaker shorted, it probably blew the output amplifier in the Realtek chip. 😁
Man loved watching this all the way through what a great video. Was genuinely so happy for you at the end seeing it fixed never saw a nintendo with so many issues before but it made a great video so well done!
Hey Joey, I really like watching your videos lately and today I actually got a tip for you. If you encounter a severely stripped screw, try cutting a slot in it with the disc looking tool of the grinding pen. It should then be possible to unscrew it with a flat head screwdriver. I have so far managed to get every screw out with this method, even severely (and I really mean severely) water damaged, rusty ones.
Me hearing beeps “ yeah thats a short”
Him: “and the short is gone!”
Also me: “yeah shorts gone yeah, different beep that time I heard it”
Such a real experience... Crazy how it works.. one switch not even broken and the other has so many issues its crazy. Well done sir. Happy to subscribe
earned my inscription and like, i've learned A LOT with this video, thanks
You have the patience of a Saint. I'd have flung the damn thing out of the Window after about 15 minutes lol
The Realtek chips that begin with ALC are usually Audio chips. If it would be RTL than it's a Networking IC.
amazing fix! I love your perseverance!
You can use a 1k resistor to test the battery as well. Major drop in voltage is bad.
Very nicely done
I don't understand how people sell this stuff for so much money? They can't even use it and if they had a warranty, it wouldnt be on Ebay. For all intents and purposes, its worth less than $20
I love your hoodie. A throwback to your intro from your earlier videos.
Amazing fix, thank you. Really enjoyed it!
That seccond switch was a roller coaster. I was rooting for you and fair play, excellent fix!!!
this is my type of content enjoy the sub man you deserve it :)
Nice! So great that the Cod3r jumped in to help out. Lovely happy video. Good on ya
Great work Joey amazing find on that emmc 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👊🏻
Huge works ! well played
Very nice fix Joey, really good work. 👌
Great fix!
great video and so much to pick up on. keep the
videos coming.
What a rollercoaster!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Great vid Joey as always!
Best episode yet!
Nice steady hands, well done
I was looking at that "heat mat" thinking to myself I've never seen one with circles before, but I've got baking sheets just like that. Took a few seconds for it it click! :) Good idea!! I use them for other stuff too.
Not even the cod3r impressed me as much as you have in this video. Cracking job mate. I would never have thought to check the memory. 😀
Awesome fix!! Well played for not giving in ✌️ That 2nd Switch would have driven me insane 😂
That 2nd switch was crazy, just how much work was needed to get it fixed! A lot of people would have probably given up on it...
That was a wild ride! I only work on SFC/SNES, GB(C) and DS Phat/Lite/i (so far) and I can't imagine having to troubleshoot so many tiny things :D
The playlist jumps from E12 to E15
Thanks for the heads up :) just changed it
good work!
Loving the series, any advice for someone wanting to learn how to do these repairs on this scale? I've started doing some basic repairs like joystick replacements and a charger port or two but I want a better understanding, maybe even to change career since I'm not happy with what I'm doing now
GREAT Matrix reference!
I actually quite enjoy these longer videos! Keep it up bro.. I wouldnt look at it as losing profit, more like you are paying for knowledge :P
Amazing job. Never give up Joey but a switch like this is a pain in the...
Nice job!
Phils the man 😎
Persistence prevailed exclemt job Joey
Great Fix! And Sally is getting a little bit happier as well!
Haha I hope so Leon! Thanks for watching :) 😊
Good job!!👍👍👍👍
Looks like Roger the Bodger has had a go at Switch #2...
Now that IPA trick is neat!
Good job you need so much patience plus steady hands for this type of work plus a decent microscope lol hod much was all you set up when you started
When I started I had nothing and was doing DS Lite repairs :)
Okay here's the thing. I started out watching your channel and I couldn't get enough because of how you Carry the vibe of an average bloke fixing stuff. Now it's been a while and I've seen you repair enough switches. You don't have to do this. But it would be awesome if just deviated from Nintendo switches for a little bit
Great repairs
0:48, had the sound not loud enough and though "damn a buttonless nintendo 3ds??!?!?" 😀
Wow i just randomly came acorss this video, it's really good i couldn't stop watching
Welcome :)
Love your videos :)
Your very skilled bud. That was not a easy fix. Nice job.
If you use a brush of some kind, it can help to get all the flux off during cleanup.
I also enjoy the longer videos.
Do you list your eBay store for people who would like to buy any of these?
Thanks! Yeah the store is published on my Discord server :) link is in the description
nice fix Joey
very nice content the only thing that you can do to improve is add the amount of time spent and calculate based on the medium cash per hour someone charges to do that job 👍
What an epic fox on that second switch thr gift that kept on givimg never seen an emmc go faulty on a switch before
Thanks Ellis!
well the first switch was a very fast fix indeed
Hey Joey!
Absolutely loving the vids
One solution for stripped screws I learnt a very long time ago from my grandad (who was an electrician) is to use a piece of rubber band and push it in with the screwdriver, then try to unscrew it.
Might seem like an ancient technique, but has yet to fail me!
Anyways keep up the brilliant work :)
Thankyou Josh :)
And this is the reason why USB C is a bad design. Lines crossed on the connector means broken one which must be replaced with increased costs.. So repair is necessary on main device and not simply replacing a cable.
What a hell going through! 🙈💪
Where do you get your multimeter leads? Ive bought a klein multimeter but im not to keen on the leads. The tips are very short. I like yours for easier visibilty.
Nice video. Joey. Are you planning on fixing other types of electronics?
Soon yes :)
Old JDT would have hit a block a few points along the way. You've really become quite a great fixer!
That’s a great point! Thanks Jonathan for sticking my around 😂
now Phil has to recheck all the eMMc boards :D
Where do you get the chips from?
like the realtek chip?
Can someone explain to me e those chips that he removed with heat and soldered back on how that works, how do they make contact back on to the board, most chips have the legs going down that get soldered individually.. thanks for answer my silly probably stupid question in advance.
18:19 is there a way to find out what kind of capacitor this is without having a donor device?
Not sure parental control matters anymore for switches.
You can pay 50 cents now to have it removed by Nintendo.
Use a sewing needle to straighten those pins. Keep up the good work.
What an interesting problem... You're really smart dude :)
Just really lucky 😂 thanks 😊
Hello, I don't understand why that capacitor having continuity means it has a short? Can someone explain this to me please? I'm trying to learn the basics. Thanks.
Damn that Switch was full of issues, wonder how all that happened?
How does the second switch end up with so many faults all at once??
Someone read my comment about the "evaporation" vs "dissolve" :D
Joey my brother....we need to stay away from gambling with Xbox and Playstations LOLOL
2 ohm short, but it's reading through the coil which is 2r2?
the problem with these switch monitors..i hate hate the batteries runs out..
even if you are not playing a video game?
Would you ever consider looking at graphics cards? I have two that light up but no other signs of life
Great videos, but I wish you listed the items in the titles.
Sk Hynix (aka. Toshiba) are known to be crap.
But the chip was fine, just the cap next to it failed.
god replacing all those chips and starting negative, withoutt money from youtube just the hours means this is a major L
Bro please fix the fn delay on the multimeter beep
Can you try playstation 3 or 4 controllers
Why only 100$ for the switch ? Isn’t that worth more ? Or just cause it’s a repaired model ?
i dont care about the repairs, all I know is we have the same screwdriver set :D
Trying. To. Fix. These. Broken. EBay. Items. and. Make. a. Profit !
WOW! I really would love to INJECT also!!! Besides... 30k views not bad for that niche kind a contant!
If you're using parts from old switches you've already bought then you shouldn't include the costs in the spreadsheet as you're simply double counting and you're math ends up being off ...
I actually agree. I need to make a change with that on the spreadsheet. Only thing that holds me back is that I have a backlog of stuff from before the spreadsheet.
i hate numbers..
Alternate title I bought from dk oldies
If someone with basic knowledge wanted to learn more about this kind of work what would you suggest to do? Take a class or just watch youtube to learn?
Honestly just watching plenty of videos on UA-cam! I learned best from video :)
Don't put iso on screens holy 🙄 use distilled water and a micro fiber cloth plz don't put alcohol on your screen guys 👍
the real question is with youtube views money and the selling profit money plus all that time, was it profitable? It's a weird stance I know, but as a dog groomer, we can make that amount in about an hour working on a dog lol. just curious if it's worth it or more of a hobby
