Even NFT shows have better animation than this.
Fun fact: most of the old cast and the family of the dead ones have viciously disavowed this show
As they should

I know the actor for JJ is doing commercials so I was curious if he had an opinion of this 🤔
If that's true, then so much for listening to black voices (as if they were doing that to begin with).
@@oldoutlet6946 oh it was never about black voices. Honestly it seems like another velma situation. They made a show thats made to piss people off and gain controversy so people hate watch it.
I hate that guns, drugs, and violence are still seen as synonymous with my skin color. The stigma is annoying as hell and a large chunk of African Americans don’t engage with any of that. We are more than that.
Of course you are/can be more than that. But there are people out there who don’t want you to know that. And they’re not always the ones you’d immediately expect either, mind you. I’m not black, but I DO have a Middle Eastern grandfather whose home country was literally destroyed by its own government. I think I know a little about how this stuff can work without folks realizing it.
Hes just trying to convince us that hes not a drug dealer
I don't think thats a mainstream narrative anymore. guns and violence are associated with white hill billies and drugs are still a black thing funny enough. probably because of activism focusing on possession incarcerations and ignoring violent crime. though I guess the show is going focus on those things and just blame white dudes for it lol
"African americans" sounds as silly as "European Americans". Where in Africa ? Think Africa is some kind of homogenous place that speaks two languages and has one phenotype? Plus you guys are just as "African" as Joe Rogan is Italian.
😂 no we aint
To have Stephen Curry, a rich kid who has never worked a grueling job in his life, and Seth Macfarlane, who wrote the Cleveland show, be the main writers on a show about the lives of a working class African American family, shows how out of touch Netflix executives are.
The thing is, Seth Macfarlane can be a good writer... but come on man. He always does this shit. 🤦
I doubt Seth is actually doing anything beyond getting paid for being listed as a producer

Bro as a black person this is extremely stereotypical. To the point where its disgusting. My family always has a great sense of humor, respect, and love for everyone. If i had a family like the people in this show, I guess I would run away, I don't know what else I would do? Because those people suck!
Seriously though, I think that scene where the guns get dropped off and all the dudes start shooting out of the windows of the apartments at each other is the absolute worst. Disgusting
@@dionstewart7394 agreed 💯
Isn't this show supposed to be about black life in America? According to the wokies, black folks are oppressed and impoverished. Isn't the black experience in America violent and 100% struggle? According to Black Lesbians Matter, the traditional nuclear family is the problem with the black community and must be destroyed. This cartoon represents all of that. Heh.
@@dionstewart739410k Black men die to gang violence every year. It really is like that.
These TV shows get a bag off of reflecting and reinforcing the worst corners of the black community, and the sad part is the original show was meant to break those stereotypes. The lack of inbetween frames is absolutely disgusting.

I don’t think so. Boondocks was never coming to Netflix. Also, The Boondocks was satirical, but let’s not pretend, it was constantly pushing socialism. It's crazy that there are better-looking newgrounds animations than actual studios of animators paid to make this.
True
Actually, this reminds me a lot like a Newgrounds animation. The geometrical character designs, the thick outlines, I actually don't mind the artstyle too much with some of the characters, but there's clearly inconsistency, which is annoying. The backdrops also look nice. The real problem is with the tweening! Or lack thereof, there is no goddamn consistency! The lip sync doesn't quite seem right sometimes, the heads are fully animated sometimes with tweens but when the body moves they don't tween that, it just looks really janky! Either you stick with a low framerate or a high framerate (unless you are going for slapstick humor, which this is not). I don't even think Velma was this bad with the animation aspect, although I haven't seen the show, so I wouldn't know. The Good Times reboot, artistically, in my opinion, almost doesn't flop. Emphasis on almost.
Way much better animated newgrounds cartoon corn
To be fair, zone used to be on newgrounds...
Newgrounds artists tend to be talented, which is otolerated in non indie animation for some reason
Should've been called "Hood Times"
1. this is a "bigoted representation" of how netflix producers & ceo staff,
view afro-americans, & why they don't hire them in their boardroom.
2. even worse, are the afro-americans who provided the voices for these disgraceful characters.
3. if netflix wanted to return an ethnic-classic to tv, why not "the jeffersons [1975-1985]"?
4. it showed an afro-american, owning a successful laundromat business, who lived in an luxury apartment in manhattan, new york, with his wife & son.
The original Good times had a nuclear family. The older son was an artist. The daughter was a dancer and went to college. The youngest son was brilliant and an activist. The parents had been together for decades. They showed the struggles and the poverty of living in an inner city. They helped show this white girl a completely different world than what I was used to. My first television crush was James Evans.
I know most people focus on Seth McFarlane being apart of this, rightfully so, but another name brought up there is Normal Lear, a guy who helped produced the original Good Times. The man created numerous other classic sitcoms (All in The Family, Maude, The Jeffersons, ect.) and he passed away last year. For this to be possibly the final work he was involved in is just saddening to think about.
He probably didn't even know what the fuck was going on in his last days
I identify with "most people" and mainly cause the Cleveland Show exists... Seth can't keep getting away with this.
They just used his name dude was 101 when he died he had zero clue what was going on. Pretty disgusting of Netflix producers too drag his name through the mud
Executive Producer credits are a tricky thing. They can range from full involvement, to someone is getting a check in the mail. Whenever you see a reboot or remake, you’ll more than likely see the original creator as an “executive producer”. So I’m willing to bet that Netflix had to contractually give Norman Lear an EP credit, when in reality he probably had nothing to do with this remake.

5:11: Man that ain't Wesker, that's Dollar Store Balde.
The art "style" needs to go, this show is going terrible.
Netflix needs to go
Hating on the style is ridiculous
Why are the “woke” cartoons so racist? Aren’t they supposed to make good representation? This is insulting. Good Times was the opposite of this.
bro fr this shit is deadass just making black people look terrible
Okay I get what you're saying but this isn't woke. It's just stereotypical bullshit. Y'all have got to stop misusing that word 🤣🤣🤣
@@quandrealion fr, they using that word for every damn thing lol.
If it’s racist then by definition, it’s not woke, literally google the word man. A lot of them attempt that shit but fail
@@quandrealion raceswapping Jesus isn't woke?
Yeah, I used to watch good times when I didn't have any cable. That show was a classic, it's good because it accurately depicts a black family instead of what the media tries to put out there depicting a black family, where the man of the house doesn't want to be around his kids and the mother is at home raising multiple children by herself. This animated reboot is just a mockery of that legacy had to offer all because black people want to be accepted into modern media where they only want them around for money, not so they can shine. It's good that he mentioned Boondocks because the show mentioned so many times how B.E.T was basically the downfall of black media and why it does nothing to highlight black voices, but instead make us look bad so that Hollywood makes money off of our people acting a fool.
They just will not let nice things die. It's really sad. All out favorite dead characters are skinned with imposters parading wearing said skin.
Isn't it amazing how tv shows pushing wholesome family values were phased out for degenrate shlop within only 30-40 years. No way Rome decayed this quick.
Blame the sponsors.
I don’t know how to feel about this? I’m leaning towards this is “pissing me off.” It seems like they just took the original good times and slapped the Family Guy coat on it.
Wish they'd even put that much effort into it. Shit's barely even animated and the jokes... 🙄
Here's what they got from Good Times:
- Title
- Black cast
The rest is 110% racist bullshit masquerading as "comedy".
"My name's Florida! Florida! That's the name of a state! Why is my name Florida!" *Crying*
Classic
@@thatonescrambler Ironic really considering that Seth's producing the show.
@@MediaGhost_ ...*clap* DYNAMITE
DYNO MIIIIITE
The way James looks at JJ with disappointment in that scene 😂😂
When I saw Seth's name I immediately understood why it's so shit.
That’s exactly what I was saying of all people why would you put Seth MacFarlane on this I already know that this is gonna be straight trash with Seth MacFarlane working on the show you already know there’s gonna be a bunch of racial jokes thrown into this just from what we have seen a Family Guy you already know this whole thing is about to go downhill.
seth needs to stick to voice acting not directing entire shows
@@gayfruitbasket well hes just a producer, aka the money
@@gayfruitbasketDo you know what an executive producer is lol
@@acksawblack yes I do know
Boondocks is absolutely gorgeous in the animation department and their comedy almost always hits.
At this point, the "baby" in every Family Guy knockoff should just be a little person. Maybe call them Uncle or Cousin Bob who lives on their couch cuz they're a hustler or whatever
bro I'm telling you at this point if they bought back boondocks they would find a way to fuck it up 💀
Fr, even season 4 was mid af.
A “reimagining” this literally isn’t even the same fucking show like the only thing that’s the same is that they’re black.
When I saw Seth MacFarlane's name as a executive producer, I know for sure this is going to be a "Madea meets Family Guy/Cleveland Show" disaster
Seth MacFarlane had an old man coming on to the chubby son on Family Guy and had Quagmire fantasizing about ***aping women! Everyone thought that this was funny but didn't understand the connotations of Seth making a mockery of women being **aped and pedophila. Now all of a sudden people want to stand up against this garbage but Seth MacFarlane has been making this kind of garbage for years. Just as we in the black community stand up against these type of stereotypes we also need to stand up against people in Hollywood poking fun at women getting abused and children getting abused.
Seth McFarlane is one of the biggest frauds and laughingstocks I have ever seen with the way he pretends to be edgy and badass with his comedy, but still bends the knee to Hollywood and whatever current agenda it has.
Hollywood said Seth McFarlane knows black people. He made The Cleveland Brown show.
Hollywood Canceled the Boondocks reboot for this shit.
Stuff like this is why I stick to older stuff
FR I'm watching all the Jackie Chan movies.
God I love Operation Condor so much.
Family matters is the next target.
Please god no
There was an Urkel christmas special the other day. Seemed to keep thr spirit of the character at least
Don't give them anymore ideas
No, it'll be Sister Sister or probably Moesha. And all our hearts will break when that happens. 💔
@@hope-cat4894 I know my heart will because I grew up watching those shows.
This is a good reminder that "adult comedy animation" isn't made for people who want good shows. Who care about animation.
They're made for middle age/normie people who don't wanna watch a cartoon unless it's raunchy and """""adult""""".
We got Castlevania, Smiling Friends, Blue Eye Samurai, Primal, and Scavenger's Reign, and more. Modern Western animation isn't bad. It's just that your "Good Times", "Big Mouths" and "Velmas" get an easy audience.
We also got moongirl and devil dinosaur, Craig of the creek, X-Men 97, pantheon, blood of zues, nimona and alot more.
Don’t forget Vivziepop’s universe (Hazbin Hotel + Helluva Boss)
Don’t forget the spider verse movies the animations slapped
We also get Space King which I hope gets to continue for a long time
I've accepted that we aren't ever gonna get another BoJack Horseman in this lifetime
I am absolutely unsurprised that Seth McFarland is the one producing this.
Same.
As a black man go watch Boondocks. Because it is meant to piss you off to make the attention more profitable; hate watching. A dirty tactic to a belove and wholesome show.
6:14 What is the implication of this scene? As soon as black people get their hands on a gun they immediately start shooting each other? Did Seth come up with that one?
That’s what I was thinking tf
A white liberal Democrat came up with that
I don't think he should be too credited for it. The idea that the government injected guns and drugs into Black communities in I believe the 60's (Can't remember exactly when the claim is) to destroy them is a partially true take that's been said by a lot of different people. Like that Afrocentrist Umar Johnson guy has mentioned it a few times. But it definitely gets overblown and over emphasized. They're probably taking that angle in the show and just represented it REALLY poorly in the trailer.
White Liberal: We opposed stereotypes!!!!
Also white Liberal:
Introducing weapons and drugs to the black community to destabilize it.
Gotta love how the box that saids free guns has mostly just melee weapons in it. Based on how the one actual gun in the box looks, I'm gonna assume drawing guns was too hard for the animators 😅
they can barely animate movement right, let alone guns😂
They couldn't have just bought stock art? The show looks that bad already 💀
We've become so racially woke, that we've gone full circle and started normalizing racism with shit like this...
At least nobody in the trailer had a killmonger haircut (I think)
Racism been normalized: overt, covert, n all. Two, woke- like anything else kinda atp- isn't used the way it's supposed to be anymore rlly and ofc became negatively connotated. Nothing can ever stay good or positive and consistent the way it started out and should've stayed.
The car was animated better than the characters!!! 😂
The baby character made a joke about how his brother’s art gallery is going be stormed harder than the U.S Capital. Implying this indeed takes place in modern times. Or between January 6th, 2021 and April 21st, 2024 and or after.
Thought I’d just.. leave this “knowledge” here.
That writers strike hit hard
My mom introduced me to the classic thay was Good Times when i was little. I showed her this trailer and she says, "how broke are they to be involved with this crap?"
This is Boondocks B.E.T. levels garbo.
As soon as it says "irreverent" anywhere ever that is the deal-breaker for me. That is my cue to dip
I like how Hollywood preaches anti-racism and diversity, yet make racist and inclusive flims.
The boondocks tried to warn us...
Stephen Curry is immediately out of the both the Top 10 debate AND the GOAT point guard debate because of this
I agree
@randomguywithacarlet’s not get to crazy
I will never understand how some of these people can stand on a pedestal and talk down to their audience calling them racists for liking edgy comedy, just to turn around and work on something like this for months without ever seeing an issue.
Is it actually edgy and funny for all or is it covert racism that's "funny" being brushed off? There's a real difference that a lot of ppl esp now dk (don't care, really) how to make then just brushing it off.
@@Boohurghhoo something like the Boondocks is absolutely racist, however, it's equal opportunity, and actually funny. This is just a racist characterization of an entire culture to pander to the people they're insulting.
@@hiddenloaf2302 "equal opportunity" is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. What abt the boondocks is racist..? Ik it tackles racism and things surrounding that esp through its characters..but racist? I've heard dumb ppl causing controversy to cry out racism bc it decided to tackle it, talk abt it. Esp in ways that ofc made them uncomfy Ott No, really how? I wasn't talking boondocks. I was talking in general, when I said, is it REALLY "edgy comedy" or is it another fold for covert racism to let slide and say "funny funny funny nts". Racism (and it's branches) covert, overt, blatant and not is and shouldn't be "funny" either way. Again racism is racism, not edgy comedy or should be slyly labeled under such. Edgy comedy is edgy comedy, again not trying to be slick ("funny", right?) and be racist then burst when called out abt it. Dtms?
Wrong conversation my guy, literally made with the help of the creator of FAMILY GUY?
Right
Seth should stick to American dad and the Orville. CAUSE DOING THE CLEVELAND SHOW PART 2 AINT IT!
He isn't in control of family guy no more, I think
When The PJ’s, The Cleveland Show and Friday the Animated Series have a baby this is the result. 🤢🤮
Except PJs is good
