I feel this film would’ve been better if it was about a secret society of black wizards, who then must constantly contend with the KKK’s own grand wizards(and possibly the origins could be that both groups started with a master and his slave, the master was a master of magic and the slave learned enough to escape, both then teaching others their own magics in an arms race against each other), and then the black wizards would work from the shadows to influence society such as bringing about the Civil Rights Movement and BLM in a bid to equalize blacks to whites
Meanwhile, the story’s conflict arises when the grand wizards, who have been dwindling in number, learned necromancy, bringing back all their dead members and even their founder, bolstered with such powerful magics regained, they begin influencing blacks to undergo riots as well as influence key politicians, all in a bid to “make America wake up to the danger of the black man”, to this, this is more meant to be like a subtle nod to how the CIA would push crack into black neighborhoods, hell, that could be brought up as one of the KKK’s past attempts at diminishing the blacks
And, if wanted, there could be a love plot where the protagonist and his gf end up being inducted into the respective black and white factions(protagonist is found and recruited, fucking Harry-Potter style, his gf instead is brought before the KKK by her uncle and is more or less threatened to join, especially as the KKK is hard pressed for recruits with actual magic), both factions unaware of the Romeo and Juliet-esque love, and despite being a force of good, the black wizards don’t permit its members to have relationships with white people due to an incident where one such wizard befriended a white who then nearly blew the secret society’s cover, resulting in the tragic deaths of many wizards as it gave the KKK an opportunity to strike, so both the protagonist and their gf keep hushed on how they were just recruited into either faction, causing tensions to rise as they must constantly dip from each other to attend to their duties, perhaps they meet during the final conflict and so they both defect as they then independently fight against the KKK while working to change the black wizard’s policy on relations with white people. And, if wanted to be shaken up a bit, the genders could be swapped so it’s a fem protagonist with the black wizards and their bf getting coerced into the KKK
And then the name could stand to be changed, possibly into “Freeman’s home for black magic”, perhaps with the wizards of such being referred to as “Freemen”, topped with some lore of it being the name of the founder when he escaped his master

This is symbolic of what we as the audience would want as pure wish fulfillment, nobody wants to watch Sharon Tate die so Tarantino lets us revel in the what if. Woman King attempts the same thing, it isn’t necessarily trying to be historically accurate, which is good because it’s not

Love the fact that those old movies with magical black folks helping the White MC, made me more feel like that the magical black folk was showing the MC compassion, what to love, bringing your family with you and showing to be kind to others. Giving me a sense that they were acting like a father figure or one to show they could coexist or give meaning to being human.
But this movie scraps it and makes it like they have to show kindness to white dudes or it goes to shit. Like bro what the fuck, they could of done something of a calmer, maybe comedic, film with the Magical Black folk trope, having them being the most compassion and loveable people in those movies cause of their kindness and well spoken attitude and lesson learning. What the fuck has happened now bro.
