As a bi woman I really notice the difference between male anime characters being sexy and female characters being sexualized. It's perfectly possible for characters to be sexy without being sexualized, like anime is full of buff powerful men who can beat up any badguy but would never hurt someone who doesn't deserve it, running around all sweaty and doing a bunch of fight-appropriate moaning. But it feels like female characters can't be sexy in their own right when they're sexualized. Like they have to be innocent and asexual while the camera zooms in on their bodyparts. I'd much rather have female characters who are attractive and seductive without being perved on by the camera. When the the sexy scenes exist only because what the camera is doing or some plot contrivance and not because of the way the character is acting, then it's not actually her being sexy. Like if you were in a room alone with her in real life she wouldn't be sexy she'd just be visually attractive, while sexy male characters would probably only be more sexy. You can be both sexy and sexualized at the same time and there are sexy anime women, but it bothers me that cheap sexualization is defaulted to so much. We could have female characters who are sexier and treated with more respect at the same time, it just seems like a win-win situation to me.
The thing with most anime is they are created for their main audience, the japanese. It's the japanese populace that will decide if their manga get adapted to anime. Some of the best manga that i read barely sexualize any sexes and focus on the story, combat and anything aside fanservice rarely get adapted and even if the do it will be way back in the line
i agree. its one of the reasons why i love Arcane so much. Many of the characters are very sexy/hot but it's not really emphasized apart from a certain character who uses her sexiness as a tool. Most of the time the charactera are sexy because they just are. Plus they're also amazing characters
I think you're conflating two different things a little bit, characters being "sexy" and "seductive" is one form of appeal, but by no means the only one. It's like cute vs sexy; in the same way sexy seductive characters can be appealing so can shy or cute characters, it's just a different type of character with a different type of appeal. I wouldn't say the "innocent and asexual" characters as you call them _can't_ be sexy just because they aren't "acting" out their sexiness, in the same way I don't think people in the real world _can't_ be sexy unless they're "acting" sexy. I agree anime could do with less panty/boob shots where the sexualization is lazy and painfully obvious, but I don't think we need female characters acting sexy or seductive as the only legitimate way of having sexual appeal
Idk when Connor finished his degree, but I’m a mechE senior now and we have two design capstone projects. So we combine the concepts from machine elements, mechatronics (EE basically), failure analysis, etc. to make an automated instrument which I think is really dope. Nowadays mechanical systems are hardly ever seperate from electrical/digital systems so most ME students are required to take electrical courses.
Before the LA trip I never would have thought William Osman would be a guest on Trash Taste but I'm really glad you got him on. Now I need to go further down my list of unlikely guests... I think every guest they bring up I constantly pause the video to look them up and see what they do no matter who it is. and for each stuff they talk about it google it aswell Each one has always something passionate to say about what they do and the boys encourage it by keeping it casual whilst staying interested in the topic. Great content guys!
Half way through the episode and I LOVE when they talk engineering/schooling. They rarely get to, so it's great hearing them rant and talk about those experiences in depth.
I cannot explain why but This is my favourite episode! From being a fan of William Osman and Trash Taste and being in the intersection of the two van diagrams OMG thiss is so cool!
I never really had an opinion after watching trash taste since it's just a background noise to me and just enjoyed it but after the guest drama permeated outside of the trashtaste subreddit I just had a different view inputted in me and yup I could get easily influenced easily so now I'm gonna have this "another guest episode again" which will probably fade away eventually.

Paused the video as soon as Memories was mentioned and decided to watch it, best two hours I've ever spent deciding to randomly watch a recommendation. The first part is one of the best setups of anticipation I have watched, along with getting me investing in characters in the time only an episode or two would take in a normal show. Awesome. Then followed up by the most light hearted massacre of millions I have ever seen, I couldnt decide how to feel the entire time because it refused to take the situation seriously as the main character couldnt himself.
one of Mythbusters' most iconic scene. they previously failed to ignite fuel/gasoline, so did a small scale test and it went boom with adam near it. he said the famous line "Am I missing an eyebrow?" i think it was Jaime who said "Yeah and you lost a bit of hair too." Adam wasn't happy about it since he has a date later that day.
Also the reason they blew up the cement truck is because they were trying to loosen the hardened cement inside with dynamite and it didn't work, so in the end they decided to blow it up. which gave us another iconic Jamie scene "Jamie wants big boom"
I’m telling you whenever I heard William bring up “memories” I was ecstatic! Its literally one of my favorite anime movies and i felt like I was the only one who watched it till now.
This was such an underrated episode considering the view count. Almost every topic the bois talked about with William was so intriguing and interesting. William brought a lot of neat facts and takes as well so overall, very good listen and this episode should have more views
Hearing how much stuff William had to deal with to make the squid game project a success makes me appreciate the final product even more. So many people put in the work just to make it as entertaining as possible, which it was!
The whole idea that being under influence is fun is toxic. It's literally the definition of intoxication. When you look into how Muslims live their lives away from alcohol and all the problems associated with it, it's just fascinating. I'm not saying it's a perfect society, but most certainly they deal with their shit without resorting to alcohol.
@@oban2259 Haven't touched alcohol since midsummer fest, but we have plenty of culture and tradition attached to our drinks, be it J-dag or confirmation. Those that don't want to drink are welcome to, but places like Japan or Scandinavia, many won't feel an interest in looking stupid on the dance floor without a bit of drinking.
Really hate the "just go watch porn (or hentai in this case)" argument. Shows don't need to be Kill La Kill or Interspecies Reviewers to "justify" having ecchi/fanservice. Sometimes you just want a show with a moderate or minor amount of erotic stuff and not full on sex. Obviously it depends on the actual show, and many shows like Fire Force have disruptive fanservice, but in general shows don't need to be just hentai or pure.

Luckily he survived and started blowing up guns on purpose which is amazingly entertaining.
I know a bunch of engineers from my Uni that did the F1 car thing (it's called formula student). It wasn't even an optional side project for them, it counted as the dissertation for their master's degrees. Most of them really enjoyed it because there was so much practical experience involved compared to their undergrad projects
These guys seriously just said there's no good Sci-Fi shows recently when "The Expanse" exists. Truly trash taste... (Also kudos to William to hit back and call Australia out!)

Hearing the Trash Taste boys talk about Kentucky Ballistics is the most INSANE thing that I NEVER thought would ever happen. That is the most opposite sides of my UA-cam loves colliding as possible. It's more random than the Demolition Ranch & How Ridiculous crossovers.
Engineering talks are the only instance I can think of in which Garnt and Joey don't share the 1 neuron
He is actually more relatable with Connor
And Joey is a bit cut out of it lol
Today was 3 engineers and a hentai man
Joey went for IT, not engineering. We don't really do much outside of the software
IT writes stuff for engineer to build, different field
My favorite quote
"The video of the guy getting his eye blown out by the 50 Barrett caliber" - Connor
William fits in well with his absolutely horrendous takes lmao
Yoruichi from Bleach is probably the best example of being sexy but still powerful and respected.
It makes a lot of anime unwatchable for me
Idk when Connor finished his degree, but I’m a mechE senior now and we have two design capstone projects. So we combine the concepts from machine elements, mechatronics (EE basically), failure analysis, etc. to make an automated instrument which I think is really dope.
Nowadays mechanical systems are hardly ever seperate from electrical/digital systems so most ME students are required to take electrical courses.
I had an electrical module in my first year of civil engineering so I'd be surprised if mech eng didn't have more
Before the LA trip I never would have thought William Osman would be a guest on Trash Taste but I'm really glad you got him on. Now I need to go further down my list of unlikely guests... Colin Furze, Captain Disillusion, Hidori Rose, hbomberguy, Tom Scott, and Linus from LTT...your move Trash Taste!
Tom scott was on safety third podcast (williams osmans) on an trash taste themed set.
@@solisglacies3183 That was super weird to watch. Very good fun, though.
@@solisglacies3183 Dude, that was their LA AirBNB set! I guess since they lent their equipment to the boys they had to film there, too.
Weird Decision from Trash Taste to replace Connor with Two William Osmans, either way it’s awesome.

Garnt’s description of NileRed makes me hella excited to see the episode.
Absolutely impressed with William, he really does have the trashest taste
Or have garbage flavour
Most garbagest flavour 🥶
He's 1000% correct about Death Note though.
@@Drybread I see you have garbage flavor too
As a STEM major, this episode is probably my favourite.
Yeah I understood their issues with college courses and how it's a mess sometimes lol
How refreshing to see a guest on, but in the Trash Taste studio and not part of the L.A arc 😆😁
Yes
True!
🍿
I've only just realised how great trash taste is when it comes to promoting channels from there guests, you get a good vibe of the guest and you want to watch more stuff about them.
Never seen Joey so excited to talk about anime with a guest like this before, this is going to be a great pod!
"it's the crushing feeling of knowing it can't be done "
you can call this man a monke . but these words brought tears to my eyes
Been waiting for the whole week for this
😩😩
Don't we all?
As an Aussie I can confirm, the least drunk lad drives.
I blame the subreddit for making me think about getting tired of guest episodes
Some guests.
This one is very noise
streamer guest is boring af, most of their story and experience is not fun nor enganging to talk in podcast
The other guests are great including William (exception being pokiman)
@@aynk85 Lily, Michael and Lud was pretty fun tho
I never really had an opinion after watching trash taste since it's just a background noise to me and just enjoyed it but after the guest drama permeated outside of the trashtaste subreddit I just had a different view inputted in me and yup I could get easily influenced easily so now I'm gonna have this "another guest episode again" which will probably fade away eventually.
>who is the least safe youtuber:

>that dude who blew up a lawnmower into his leg
>micheal reeves
Hearing william talk about how a project can be super stressful when there is deadline for it reminds me of my college days when I was in robotics club and I had to make robots that can do complex things for a competition and it could get really stressful when things that supposed to work doesnt work and the deadline is approaching. It really made me relive those memories
2:18:15 Garnt always stopping to say 'we dont condone this' is funny and kinda cute
WIlliam seems like a person who would really enjoy One Punch Man. And guys, jesus, if you want amazing scifi, watch The Expanse! Its sooo damn good.
Is that an anime or a movie?
I was hoping someone made this comment
(And it's a TV show)
@@ogasama6028 Live action show. It's on Amazon Prime. Was on Sci-Fi for its first few seasons. One of the best science fiction shows, if not the best, since the Battlestar Galactica remake in the 2000s, imo.
good old William Osman making me go into a UA-cam rabbit hole about radiation on airplanes
Darling in the Franxx was all about relationships and puberty though, so it actually thematically makes sense.
1:45:50 as a German, it was extremely funny seeing Connor struggle with the word kurzgesagt. For ppl interested, it means Seth like summarised
Man said fmab is his favourite anime but then proceeded to say he doesnt like politics in his anime💀💀
You know what yeah lmfao maybe he feels like the political stuff is enough in the background to explain the action but there’s definitely A LOT of politics
Currently in the Computer Engineering grind. Electrical classes are definitely the hardest ones I've ever had lol. Sometimes I wish I could have fun and hang out with my friends all day, then I remember I have a Friday night 6-9PM lab. NOT FUN!
I have it open in a tab rn. haven't gotten to it yet.
William being the guest this time round makes me soo happy. I love the guy and I love what he does. Watch safety third. It's soo much fun.
William: I don't like political anime
William nex sentence: I like Gundam
Like yes Gundam has cool robot fights but it's definitely political
Just got to him saying he doesn't like the political stuff lol
one of Mythbusters' most iconic scene. they previously failed to ignite fuel/gasoline, so did a small scale test and it went boom with adam near it. he said the famous line "Am I missing an eyebrow?" i think it was Jaime who said "Yeah and you lost a bit of hair too." Adam wasn't happy about it since he has a date later that day.
Also the reason they blew up the cement truck is because they were trying to loosen the hardened cement inside with dynamite and it didn't work, so in the end they decided to blow it up. which gave us another iconic Jamie scene "Jamie wants big boom"
@@sorintopala4242 and parts of the truck wrapped around a tree
I started watching william osman on a whim 2 days ago, literally S tier timing
I’m telling you whenever I heard William bring up “memories” I was ecstatic! Its literally one of my favorite anime movies and i felt like I was the only one who watched it till now.
Dude going through a director's catalog is an experience
I love that when William was talking about anime being formulaic the boys all were like "B..b..But American cartoons!" completely unprompted lmao.
This was the most intellectual podcast episode I've watched in a while. I like it.
Man, this was the most relatable episode of the podcast because they described my academic engineering experience to a tee.
Hell yeah FSAE got a name drop! Taking part in that program was my favorite part of my mechanical engineering degree.
Yeah got so happy hearing it
35:42 for Joey, CAD is essentially a software that you can use to turn a 2D image into a 3D mapping or you can plan out circuitry as well
Just had a terrible day at school, thank God the boys are back to cheer me up!
This was such an underrated episode considering the view count. Almost every topic the bois talked about with William was so intriguing and interesting. William brought a lot of neat facts and takes as well so overall, very good listen and this episode should have more views
Man I wish I didn't know they had Nigel on. Now I'm gonna have to wait at least a week for that episode to come out
Between the sci fi discussion and the robo doggo discussion, the fact that they never once mentioned 86 is a shear crime.
Hearing how much stuff William had to deal with to make the squid game project a success makes me appreciate the final product even more. So many people put in the work just to make it as entertaining as possible, which it was!
Mr Affable being the ad read was legendary
Gigachad William Osman the savior of the LA arc
1:53:57 Garnt's take is extremely dangerous. Saying that someone sober can't have fun is toxic
@@oban2259 How about not judging other people's culture and just mind your own business?
@@SophiaAstatine Talk about being salty. Alcoholic parents I assume?
@@SophiaAstatine or is it that you're an alcoholic yourself and got triggered?
@@oban2259 Haven't touched alcohol since midsummer fest, but we have plenty of culture and tradition attached to our drinks, be it J-dag or confirmation. Those that don't want to drink are welcome to, but places like Japan or Scandinavia, many won't feel an interest in looking stupid on the dance floor without a bit of drinking.
Oh God, I did not expect that Chris jump scare
"We're not an anime podcast"
*First 5 mins of the episode, they starts talking about anime. what a speedrun.*
"I don't like AoT cause it was too political" 5 seconds later "I like gundam!" XD
This is the first time I have been completely caught up after the complete journey of trying to catch up on the pod from the beginning. I started back in November of Last year. Lets gooooo
I love how Connor says cad is hard and here I was in a votech school learning cad and now I don’t even know how to use it bc I only used an easier 3D modeling software
That guy with the .50 that exploded in hisbface was Scott from Kentucky Ballistics, he had shrapnel all over his upper torso, one piece tore an artery in his neck and he only survived because he put his thumb in the wound to stop/slow down the bleeding. Luckily he survived and started blowing up guns on purpose which is amazingly entertaining.
I know a bunch of engineers from my Uni that did the F1 car thing (it's called formula student). It wasn't even an optional side project for them, it counted as the dissertation for their master's degrees. Most of them really enjoyed it because there was so much practical experience involved compared to their undergrad projects
that’s a thing??
hats off to their lives
These guys seriously just said there's no good Sci-Fi shows recently when "The Expanse" exists. Truly trash taste... (Also kudos to William to hit back and call Australia out!)
It is insane to hear engineering graduates say their degree is useless; it is THE MOST employable degree and you can immediately change into so many other fields because of the flex and content
Had a hard day of mental stress. Time to forget it for a bit with the boys ☺️
Until they start talking about daily radiation 😭
Unexpected FPS Russia callback was a nice surprise for me as a devout member of the RSK
lets see if garnt can go one episode without talking about how they dont talk about anime that much.
edit: he said it at 1:16.
He will always mention it in a guest episode
I hate it.
The repetition & Joey's stale jokes are really starting to sink into podcast!
@@line4169 trueish
Tbf, William Osman brought up the topic
I remember going on old airplanes where they had that faint old smoke smell in the seats and there were personal ashtrays in the armrests. This was like in the 90s where people weren't allowed to smoke anymore on the planes but the old planes still existed until they started phasing in new ones.
William: "I don't like political anime"
Also William: "I like Gundam!"
Guy is literally the "Wow! Cool robot!" meme
I did mechanical at Coventry. They give you 200£ to buy textbooks you want, give you the needed one, give you a tablet in electronics. We had to build a wooden bridge for a class, used a wind tunnel, 3D printer and disassembled an engine among other stuff. 10/10 would recommend
