That aluminum angle is supposed to slide to the left out of the way so drawer can hit the switch. It has slots in it at the mounting screws. You are supposed to slide it to the right to press the switch when you remove the tray to use the pass through feature. The switch itself may need adjusting as well.
You’re totally right. Mine moves up and down because it’s loose as you say. Thanks for point that out. This will still be a good place to look as many people are missing this little switch in order to get their laser to fire.
I'm still waiting on delivery of mine, but I plan to pull that tray out to work on slightly taller pieces (guitar pedal enclosures)... this tip probably just saved me hours of frustration down the road. Thanks man!
That’s the sole reason why I made this video. Looks like something may have been missed coming out of production and I was hit with all these messages telling their lasers won’t fire. Now you know if this happens to you.
Man you are a life saver! My machine is just a tad different than yours but that is exactly what was wrong with mine. Mine doesn’t have the little switch to disable it so I just had to use a little painters tape to get it to work. My tray will not press the switch in enough.
So I actually had it wrong in the video. The aluminum bracket should slide left to right which will hold the switch for you. If it Ms too tight, try loosening it a bit

Rotary Switches-These two switches direct the mainboard and power supply to provide power and commands to the Y-axis rail or to a rotary axis connected to the rear aviation plug.
I was so excited because I checked my pressure sensor and it wasn’t being pushed in place. I thought I had fixed it. But I still have the same issue. Is there anything else I can check for?

I finally got time to follow your video and get it up and running yesterday. I did just a few test cuts and all was well. Today I concentrated on setting up the camera (which was a nightmare) but when I came to engrave the pattern for the lens alinement, my machine would frame and moved around as if engraving but there was no pattern. Having checked everything was set up correctly I noted on testing again, that the tube is not firing. Yesterday I could see it flashing blue as it worked today nothing. I have tried everything you mention in this video but nothing helps. The key is in fine and I am stuck. Any help would be really appreciated. By the way my machine has some differences to yours. The emergency stop is on the front and the pressure buttons that sensor the tray being fully closed are in a different place so are fully depressed
Hello!!!Just checked the contact pressure tray and the interlock, my problem seems a little more complicated, the button stays red and the ammeter is not lighted and not functioning, all the rest is ok but the laser doesn't fire...Help! Please. Greeting from belgium
Hello - I just received my new Omtech Polar this week. I've set it all up and my laser worked during the camera setup phase. As soon as I sent a job to the laser, the laser head moves around but the laser is not firing, acually, it fired for one part of the project but not 99% of the project. I've ordered the controller you suggested but not installed it yet, so of course I'm scratching my head with the problem. I only have ONE switch for my rotary setup, I wonder if they changed it so people no longer can bypass the safety switch.
I only have one switch for the rotary, not 2 as shown. I've checked the back connector and the tray connector. I still can't get it to run. I've had it for 6 weeks pretty much taking space and collecting dust. If you know anyone in Calgary that can do a house call, that would be great.

Oh my goodness, I’m so frustrated with my Polar! I’ve checked the attenuator, checked the switch, nothing. It goes through the motions of engraving but no firing. I’ve been on and off chat support, support calls every day. Just turned it on the other day, calibrated the camera and camera alignment tests. Yesterday attempted to do the material test card as downloaded from the OMTech website and it scorched the holes, did not cut whatsoever and then ghost lasered the rest of the card….
Join our polar users group on Facebook and tag me in the post with a picture/video of what you’re trying to engrave or cut. It could be a simple settings issue but o have to see.
Please join our FB group (link in the description) for help troubleshooting. The polar has many safety switches and other things to look out for. There’s the tray safety switch, the door sensor (lid needs to be closed), and lightburn process requirements. For example, in lightburn you can’t have your design too close to the edge otherwise the laser may not have enough room to accelerate or slow down so you’d need to pull the design away from the edge. Other issues could be a water flow issue. This is also why having a ruida control panel is so important. It helps identify what the red ring errors are. I have a video on it
My polar is a little dated. OMTech has since come out with new models. Without knowing the details of what you're trying to do, I can't come up with an accurate solution. I suggest you join our Polar users group on facebook, record of video of what you're doing (both in lightburn and on the polar), and make a post in the group so we can help you.

Hello, so I’m having the same issue with my Polar. I’ve only had it 2 weeks. It was working perfectly fine and the it just stopped cutting or engraving. It still frames just the same but when it time to cut or engrave, you get nothing. Do you have any other suggestions?
I have it wrong in the video. That bracket actually slides to the left and right to lock that pressure sensor in place. Slide it to the right and it should work.
I have tried what you did. It gets the machine to frame and act like it’s cutting, but no power to the laser. Is their somewhere I can send pics of what my settings are?
@@rick6880 Does the digital power meter show any current while it should be engraving/cutting? If not, look at PS / Tube. But, assuming you just got it, that's a OMTECH call before confirming the obvious.
The title doesn’t indicate anything is wrong with the polar. It’s conveying how people feel when they can’t figure something out on the polar. The switch in the back is a commonly overlooked part even though it’s written in the manual

Yea i foresee some changes in the verbiage and some troubleshooting guidelines from OMTech very soon.

omtech polar fleece does not engrave cleanly. I turn off air assistant through lightburn but it still works. What is your advice regarding this?

I cannot find anything about the pass through feature. Does the polar have pass through? The website description says it does.
I briefly talk about it in my unboxing video. It does. I thought it was going m to fit 1/4 inch material but it doesn’t.

Can you see if the laser is lighting up? What are your power settings and speed settings? Are the min and max matching?
Also is it actually going over the design like it’s engraving or just framing
The min and max is set at 60. The laser is not lighting up. Speed is 30. It goes over like it’s engraving/cutting.
