I'm 62, always wanted a jeep from itty bitty. First was an 08 JK bought used in 2011. Next was a 15 JK Willy's that I ordered. I now own an 03 tj with the 4.0 and 5 speed that I truly love. Reminds me of my 69 bug convertible.
Trim package this and decals and accouterments that, I simply love my old school tj.

And I was one of the people who bought a 1996, 1997 TJ. lol. Bought it in May or June of 1996 while stationed in San Diego from Rancho Jeep. Loved that Jeep. was only a 2.5, but I put a Skyjacker suspension and 33's on it. Many good memories in that one!!!!

Love my TJs, owned four. Got an 18 JK. Missed my TJs. I had go hunt one down. I love the old style, short wheelbase look. Small torquey Jeep. So fun. New Jeeps are so big and more SUV'ish. Plus so much more electronics to get bugs.

As being born in 1970 these cars are the first when asked about famous tv/movie cars.

You’re very right. Us old CJ guys took a look at the Wrangler YJ and weren’t impressed. That is until I drove a 1988 model and I like it. So this week and after many years I took my CJ7 window sticker to the Jeep dealership and said build me one like my CJ7. I put down $1000 and was told to expect it in two to three months. It’s still a Jeep.

I have to admit its so true about the wrangler effect. I get hate from jk owners with my jlu. And gladiator 😂. I did the same thing when I had a yj towards jk owners. Now I love them all. My favorite is scrambler

I feel for ya, man. I get "hate" from almost all the Wranglers of any kind when I show up in my WK Hemi, and go most places they go! Well, up to about a 5 trail - can't go further because I have to drive it home..and IFS, but it was inexpensive (used) and its comfortable.

Gives me everything I need to do the off roading I do, haul some stuff, fit the family in, etc. It also has the comfort things that I need, such as bluetooth, cruise control, AC and power locks/windows, without all the new tech crap that raises the prices a couple grand.

I loved your video. As far as my Jeep history goes, I have had a 49 Flat Fender Willys, 54 M38A1 (Previous owner stuck a 327 CI Chevy V8 in it), 56 Willys, 84 CJ-7, 85 XJ, 87 YJ 4-cyl stick, 87 YJ 6-cyl stick, 93 YJ Sahara Stick (Turning it into a Jurassic Park Jeep), 2000 TJ (project jeep, hasnt run yet), 2009 JK auto, 2015 JKU auto and finally a 2016 JK Willys stick. At this time I have the 84 CJ-7, the 2000 TJ, the 93 YJ, the 2009 JK and the 2016 JK. I loved the convenience of the 2015 JKU but it seemed too big for my taste. The 54 M38A1 was an insane blast. I owned it in my early 20s (In Dallas in the early 90s, my first Jeep) and with the 5.38 gears in the axles there was nothing that could take me off the line. I trashed Z-28s and Mustang GTs all day long. Had to rebuild the transmission because I stripped out 2nd gear. It was insane. Loved the 87 YJ with the 6-cyl. Had to replace the BA-10 transmission when it went out at 75K miles. Put an NV3550 from a wrecked 91 TJ in it. Ran it for years and loved it. If I could keep the ones I wanted, I would get the 54 M38A1 back to keep with my 93 YJ and my 2016 JK. They are my favorites.

Ha. Fabulous run-down on Wranglers. Loved it! No other manufacturer has kept their product true and more desirable with each model change. Most end up watered down or fat. The JL nailed all the improvements and even extended the range with the diesel and V8. Gladiator appeal has gone from warm at introduction to hot as more discover how good it is for overlanding and towing! Jeep continues to rock. Thanks.

New subscriber because of this video! Thank you for doing it. I just ordered and bought my first ever Jeep, a 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I’m building a website, social media pages and separate UA-cam channel that will all be dedicated to off roading.
I’ve been around off roading my entire life but have always done so in trucks. But Jeep’s have always been by far the most capable off roading vehicle straight from the factory and as a result of that, I went out and got my first ever Jeep! My daughter liked mine so much that she also bought a Jeep as well but hers is a Cherokee that is fully loaded. She got a promotion at work and decided to buy a pretty nice Jeep as well.
With my Jeep, I will also be using it and any equipment that I buy for volunteering in search and rescue operations and/or search and recovery operations of missing people.

Great video, so much knowledge and coverage of the important parts of the histories done quickly and efficiently. Late model TJ was IMO the absolute sweet spot of the CJ look and feel with the right updates to tech and of course the inline 6. After that, the size and fell just isn’t right, though of course the tech advances and the look modernizes. I’m so glad Ford began pushing Jeep to be better. The Bronco with Sasquatch, 35” tires from the factory and the tech to support them, all under warranty, the ride, the interior, the ride, the ride…now Wrangler has some catching up to do. Competition is good.

Soceity will crumble, RANT OVER! lmao for real. i owned an 05 patriot blue pearl LJ with a 4" lift on 35s, loved that jeep!!! now, YJ wranglers are really growing on me, im actually looking for a YJ , XJ or ZJ right now for my oldest son. my favorite non XJ Jeep is the CJ2A, my fantasy jeep is a CJ2A flattie with big tires, a 4.0, nice paint, and a nice cage. i may build it some day. i also agree with you Dougie, the LJ rubicon is the ultimate factory Jeep. my 3 desert island Jeeps are as follows
    1.) my CJ2A fantasy Jeep
2.) LJ ruby in patriot blue pearl
3.) my current XJ nicknamed "whitey"
    bonus #4 a mint 5.9 ZJ body with a 4.0/AW4, 8.25 drivetrain😁

I got you beat 😜 Steve McQueen's 68 fastback in the movie bullet. 😂 Or if you're really up there. Maybe you remember the movie moonrunner. The dukes of Hazzard spun off from it. 1968 Dodge charger 440 /6 back. That movie made me a Dodge man. My first first car was a 1970 Plymouth
roadrunner . 383 air grabber hood and 4 speed

I own two iconic vehicles. I have a 2019 Wrangler JL Sport S with all the upgrades that a Sahara has, except leather. Only because I don't like the JLU. I also have a 2014 Harley Davidson Limited CVO. I live in Idaho and my little JL does just fine at water fording, rock crawling, and getting me up mountains. The Harley of course satisfies the need for an open road on relatively untraveled highways.

The JKs had the Rubicon Hard Rock. It has the luxury of the Sahara and the capabilities of, well, the Rubicon. That's what I have on my '16 and I never considered the Wrangler until the 4 door cameout becauseit wasn't practical as a family hauler. I don't think the Moab has lockers like the Rubis, at least they didn't on the JK.
Also the JKs got Alpine speakers instead of Infinity speakers.
Great video! And one day I will have a Jurassic Park Jeep.

I …SWEAR… that I recall seeing a 2wd YJ Wrangler, out in the wild, when I was a kid. It was stock, looked suspiciously low, so I looked underneath it…no differential in the front… Just like my Step Father’s MJ Pioneer. Really surprised me. I believe I was a kid in Taos, NM at the time (90’s).

My favorite Wrangler is the one I have, an 06 Unlimited, though I do wish it was a Rubicon version. Only other Jeep that comes close on the wish list is th CJ8 Scrambler with the 304 V8

CJ8 Scramblers we’re hard to get in the 80s. I chose a CJ7 but my friend luckily got a fire engine red CJ8 with the wood rails . It’s was beyond beautiful. He had the 302 and I the 4.2 258cid.

Really good video. Thanks. So good we can overlook , as you so funny said... amateur hour... ha ha ha. I own a JK and a Gladiator. While the Gladiator may not work well for some trades, it works well for me the able home owner. Tows the trailer to get the new JD lawn tractor. Hauls a bunch of mulch. Brought home a new cabinet from the store. Much would be less than ideal in my wrangler. She could do it... but less comfort. And she is a ton of fun top and doors off.
As for the 4xE. Yup think it is odd, but it would work well for me. I HAVE to get to work, hence Jeeps. Snow is not an excuse. I do however commute. Drive a bit to the train and ride the train to work. If I park and charge a 4xE at the station(free) I can drive home and back to the station with NO GAS. Huge savings at $3/gal. Being a hybrid, I could still take it on vacation to Florida. I agree not ideal for everyone, but it could work for many.... kind of like the JKU. Nice video, will have to check out more of yours. Thanks, and be safe.

Most famous movie car a Jeep it's up there but The Bandit Trans Am, Knight Rider Trans Am, DeLorean, Garths AMC Pacer from Wayne's World....I honestly can't think of a most famous. Also the YJ S stood for Standard not Sport. That's what I have and I had to do some research when I saw S on my title.

I love my TJ Sahara. Went from France to Russia with it. In winter time. No differential locker. It was fun doing the old school way and cuting woods with a machete when the car would get stuck in the snow. Unfortunately European cities are now starting to ban it. Got a 4xe Rubicon coming tomorrow. I fear the confort update 😉

I love my JKU, and your dead on right as a family man who had a TJ I quickly realized it’s short comings as a family ride. Not the least of which, is god forbid the kids are in the back and You get rear ended. The JKU does everything I ask it to do, and it’s still a hand shaker.... name one other hand shaker SUV in the modern universe, I will wait.

Awesome video. Just a note: the delorean and the ecto-1 are probably the most famous. I don’t think the wrangler is even the most famous car in Jurassic Park, I’d argue it’s probably the Green Ford Explorer
