The function of snow foam is as a pre rinse, to lift the dirt and particles off of the paint and run them down to the bottom, so you wash them off then. If you use a mitt on a pre rinse stage you will drag the dirt around the car and scratch or swirl it. Having that said, I’ll def use your trick with the dilution of foam itself.
The foam in this is too thick, a 5 minute dwell is more than enough to remove loose dirt before rinsing. Then you start the contact wash. He says no swirls, but I can bet you that thing is marked up bad.

Just add 3:1 mix and the Karcher does the rest. Simple. Top tip, never run your Karcher before letting the low pressure water run through it before you use it on high pressure. It avoids the pump running dry on start up.
Thanks for vid - I’m with zero contact until all is washed off. If it’s needed that’s the time to get the mit out. To dry I use a Stihl Magnum leaf blower (I’m sure any leaf blower will do) completely dry in just a few mins. If you wash each week you never need to touch the car - thanks again
Great Video. Be careful parking your car near your boiler outlet as these emit small amounts of iron deposits. The way that I detail is.... Pressure wash to remove the heavy deposits, snow foam as you describe, rinse, decontaminate with iron remover (wheels first), rinse, contact wash using a coral mit and the 2 bucket method using a stone guard in the clean water bucket, rinse, towel dry (Micro Fibre), spray with waterless finishing product, rinse again,. Boom done takes about 90 mins, but well worth it. This is for a weekly maintenance wash.
brilliant video! can i just say that cheap karcher as you call it with the dirt blaster lance and a bit of patience would clean your drive like nearly new! this video to me shows how simple it is to clean a vehicle! the best yet thankyou!🥰
I would always rinse after foaming has been left for the right time to make sure any fine grit etc is removed that the foam has loosened and lifted before rubbing all that grit back into the paint surface with a cloth as it could easily result in scratches otherwise. But your way of doing apart from that is great and I will try to follow it. Thanks.
I have had a few K2s and they didn’t last much more than a year in most cases. It cost more, but I now have a K7 and it has lasted 2 years up to now. I just use it for cleaning the paths and driveway, clearing drains etc and the occasional car wash.
I would recommend upgrading the lance hose to a heavy duty rubber type some good deals on eBay I've got 10 metres and the pressure washer just stays in the garage. and after the rinse I load my lance up with some triplewax self drying shampoo as a rince aid works great leaves a great shine and drys out it self a quick flick with a drying towel the results are quality....👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 good vid by the way....
Good video. I also use a Karcher with our black cars. Have a go with Autoglym Polar Seal in the Lance after you have washed and rinsed. The Polar Seal will give 4 to 6 weeks protection depending on the weather and in the in between times give the car a maintenance wash. For that try Garage Therapy ‘One’ Shampoo ( 20ml in a bucket) and their ‘Two’ Quick Detailer for the finish.
Magifoam is the only Autobrite product I use and I purchase in 25l drums. It is awesome. Normally you would require a 1.1mm orifice for a K1 to get that amount of foam. There is nothing to match it and I have tried every snow foam on the market. The closest to the Magifoam is Bilthamber foam. Great video and helps as the Foam Cannon don’t come with instructions. The pain of short hose on a Jet wash I recommend an extension hose.
If you have a pressure washer without wheels you can buy a camping trolly in the Range store, you just use bungie cord to strap it in place, no problem connecting the hoses, handy for rolling it about.
I have the same set up and I always rinse the car with the k2 then foam it about 40% less than yours . Leave it on for 5 mins so the foam drags the dirt down then completely rinse it off. After that foam it again then use a mitt lightly and finally rinse.
I have a k2 and the autobrite snow cannon and foam and I think it's brilliant kids love blasting the car with snow foam, the k2 dose a good job at removing the dirt too 👍👍
Some great tips, have only just started using Snowfoam with a Nilfisk pressure washer - Have only used the Lance that came with the washer and the results have not been great. Will try some of your tips and see how I get on - thanks
This comment section perfectly represents what happens when people watch several detailing videos but don't understand why anything is done the way it is done. They freak out. Anyway, I'm glad I found this video. Very helpful tip, thanks mate.
@Dee Jay The folks who actually know how to do it huh... alright then. Alright so my opinion is invalid straight away without even hearing it. Fantastic. Well I'll share it anyways. I don't really expect you or others to accept it, that's not my job really. Washing cars for me is more of a fun activity than a religiously rigid duty. So anyways here goes. The snow foam have two purposes, one is as you mentioned which is to remove light dust off the vehicle so it doesn't have to be there during contact wash. Second purpose of the snow foam, you may not know (or maybe you do Idk), is to provide extra lubrication for the contact wash which is what was done in the video. Admittedly he should have used more pre-caution as the extra lubrication still doesn't guarantee a safe wash. But hey, I think that's his personal vehicle and thus it's really up to him how he's going to wash it. I personally have a black vehicle and I wash it similar to how he does it (with more care of course). I use the snow foam as an added lubrication with only one mitt and one bucket with a grit guard. It's two years old and has minimal swirls. You would really need to adjust yourself to find them even with a good work light or those "swirl finder" lights. As for your pH concerns. Well I happen to have a test kit (no no I'm not some weird freak. My mom is a chemical engineer and my sis is doing bio-chem so we just happen to have the equipment at home) and a dedicated snow foam soap. Awesome! I went to 2 extremes, about frozen solution and about boiling hot solution. Results: 12.1 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 6.91 96.4 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 7.14 For extra fun I measured this other soap I have which I have been testing out. It's some freakishly dangerous pH12 soap meant for who knows what. Why do I have it? Idk. Anyways. 9.4 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 11.92 94.5 degrees Celsius leveled at 11.96 Whaaaat, it didn't even change. Sooo, are these still not "facts of the matter"? Whether you believe my "invalid opinion" is really none of my concern as I admittedly had fun doing this which I wouldn't have done if it wasn't for you. Thank you I guess. Take care friend.
@@Kyle-kc8cw You have a point as far as the snow prewash is concerned it does lift the dust particles and lubricates the surface, however surely to get rid of the dust particles you would have to rinse it, before applying a wash shampoo with the cannon and then all you need is one bucket & a grit guard, works great, because you already have the soap on the car....would you not agree? Having said that, the hot water to get creamier foam seems like a good idea, I don't understand why the detailing guy is so against it?
I have just bought a marcher k2 with their snow foam lance and shampoo!!! Garbage snow foam. will be taking delivery tomorrow from amazon from your link tomorrow. thanks for the great advice and demo.
Thank buddy, I bought a k4 and the foam cannon that comes with it just uses too much foam I'd be buying a bottle per wash, I've been looking at vids but I don't want to spend 5 hours of my weekend cleaning the car just nice and straight forward
very well explained video, just one thing I would do in addition to this is pre rinse first with pressure washer to get rid of any grit before applying snowfoam. I didn't know the amount of snowfoam required & the adjustments that can be tweaked on lance for thickness of snowfoam until this video. Nice one 👍
Just bought the Autobrite Lance and it was very useful to watch this video, prior to setting my own up. Interested also in the maount of foam left on the drive. Have yet to decide how to dispose of it!
Thank you so much for explaining how to use the karcher for this process. I've never done it before and now I'll know a lot more with my products. That is amazing. Thanks heaps. Regards, Jim.
Good video mate. Ulle notice an even bigger difference if you got the karcher k4. Magifoam is okay. Your better off washing the foam off then doing a two bucket safe wash. I prefer bilt hamber auto foam as I find seems to clean better than magifoam. For even extra bite you can apply tfr to lower surfaces then apply magifoam over the top.
Can recommend Autobrite 100%! I’m local to them so pop in to grab gear and the guy in the shop is amazing with advice etc. I’ve got a silly off brand preseure washer but they had the correct fitting for it
I'm just about to purchase my first ever black car. I've always shied away from black because of the very reasons you mention. A new car deserves a new Karcher set up as well! Thanks for the video.
It is important, how black is mixed, imo. I did have focus in black colour, which was really nice, since it is mixed with metallic, purple particles, which gives extra depth to the black. I find blacks on german brands for ex. little bit dull. Too bad ford quality is shite, was giving me a lot of frustration. Anyway, black is nice, when it is clean, but it does take more attention, and every scratch etc is visible from mile away. About washing (from my view) i find foam little bit on bs side (i try it, but it doesn't really clean much). One could argue, it just for sake just of unsticking dirt off etc, but you get that with common rinsing too (foam could be maybe beneficial on extra dirty car) . What i id find out and i use this method ever since, is to use constant flow of water (i just let flow without washer pump being on) when washing with sponge/mit. This constantly lubricate cleaning surface and taking dirt off. Do this 2 times on whole car (with some quality car shampoo) in shade and i can tell you, you won't be needed any additional drying and cleaning with cloth etc (you can, if you're extra picky). done and done, nice glossy, shiny car.
Great video this is, for some reason there’s so many people over complicating the process of using snow foam and what pressure washer to use... this video explains everything and just shows how easy and simple it is... thankyou 👏🏻
No... It does not... While this video explains adequately how to set up your bottle, the methods used, particularly on a black car, will scratch and swirl your paint... The correct process isn't complicated but it does take time... If you haven't got said time then perhaps car detailing isn't for you but if that's the case then why by pre-wash products in the first place? Following the method in this video, you might as well drive to the local garage and use there drive-thru swirl machine... 🤷🏻♂️
That is bad ass, I'm literally 10 mins from picking this very same karcher washer. But, I'm going to get the karcher spray foam. I have seen so so many reviews saying two car washes and the mix is gone, waste of money. The measurements you mention just shows it's not (of any snow foam) just a little bit of common sense I guess. And that washer is really quiet...... I've got a cheap washer at the moment and it sounds like a tank coming down the road. Great video fella. 👌
Pretty much followed the directions you provided in this video and it worked very well. Super clean car, in fact loads of people have commented. Thanks for the video :)
Very Good video - really helpful. Appreciate that you took the time and effort to do it. As always, there will be people who have different / negative comments . . . can't find their videos though!!!! Again Thank You.
Martin Thanks! The vid was show how to get decent snowfoam from a cheap set up. Most comments on here think I must be a failed car detailing expert! It's only and old focus! Still looks great btw! Thanks for a positive comment!!!
Great video and I have been doing same. But new Autobrite prewash snowfoam (slightly different look) recommends cold water and a dwell time of 10 mins. Cant see if its exactlt same ingrediants - do u reckon u can still use hot water and same dwell time?
Never wash a car bottom to top with a mit. At the contact stage always work from the roof down. You’re just dragging grit from the bottom of the car to the top itherwise
That foam really is thick haha. I also only use half a bottle for a whole car, find if I put anymore in i tend to just keep going around the same areas. You ought to get some decent wax on that car though. You can see the water used to rinse the foam sticking to the car rather than beading up and running off (look at around 12:47). I nearly died when you mentioned using polish on a regular wash haha. Was thinking to myself "no wonder there's no swirl marks if you polish it every wash". The green stuff is actually just regular shampoo though so no harm haha. If you want some decent sealant that makes the car shine (like what you're trying to achieve with the green bodywork shampoo), I'd say get some PolarSeal from AutoGlym. Use 40ml max then fill the bottle up to like 400ml then spray on the car. Rinse it off almost immediately and it will make water bead like mad and leave a nice glossy finish. A little costly at £17 for 1 litre, but as I say you only use 40ml a time so works out at like 40p a go. Plus you only need to use it once a month or so (any more is considered a waste and can actually ruin the finish because of excess product buildup), so will last for at least a year or two.
Great tips thanks for the advice! I trip over my words sometimes but i'll certainly try that out! Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated!
Another helpful video especially around dilution etc. I use the a K4 with the Karcher lance and the Autoglym Polar range - blast, wash then seal. The latter is a more effective polish/barrier than the shampoo/conditioner that you've used here and lasts about 1-2 months. Cheers.
I used my k2 today with the foamer gun that came with it. It works well enough and I think it's bottle is the same size as you say is a good amount for an average size car, around 500ml. My car is silver so I don't suffer the black car curse you do so I don't bother with the auto glim! Good demo, good luck with diversifying the channel:)
simon bealing Thanks Simon interesting to hear the karcher worked well! I have a silver car as well! By far the best colour but black looks great when it's clean! Thanks a lot. I'll do my best with the channel and see what happens
Good video. I used to use magifoam but found I had to do a contact wash after so now I use non acidic tfr in the snow foam cannon. I get the same foam but never have to contact wash car after. Removes all grime and bugs no problem with an amazing finish and no paint damage or swirls.
Nice video. Great snow foam lance. I usually rinse off the snow foam before hand washing with soap and water. I was surprised the see you washing with the snow foam but it seems to work though counter intuitive.

Fantastic video mate however all those that say his foam is to thick are wrong that's just about right, BUT he's doing it ALL wrong 1ST YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DO THE WHEELS 1ST THEN you should definitely snow foam onto dry paint let it dwell 5-10 dependant on the weather it should not dry then RINSE IT OFF then RE FOAM the whole car then using a one bucket with shampoo and a grit guard and 4 or 5 wash mircofiber noodle mitts and use each mitt to separately agitate each area of the car the rinse the car then either using a double twist microfiber drying towels or a leaf blower dry the care and go over with a quick ceramic spray detailer spray but once again you should ALWAYS DO THE WHEELS 1ST THEN THE REST OF THE CAR
I have a k2 basic and FJ6 . Using regular car shampoo with some car shampoo with wax . Pretty good results on black car. I would not say no to a thicker foam tho 🤔😊
I could and do get even better thickness of foam using the same pressure washer, doesn't matter if it was AB or any other product. I will admit thats some serious cling from Magifoam

Geeman Great suggestions I'll look out for one of those and try it out!
@@stampysrandomreviews try CYR online they sell 10m hoses
Aaron Foster Thanks Aaron
Very helpful. Some negative comments on here but clearly this works for you and you did a great job taking the mystery out if snow foam
Thanks for the information Simon
Thanks! This answered exactly why I wasn’t getting good foam - too much dilution. Now to try it out!
Great demo. It's hard to believe how complicated the rest of youtube makes all that look ✌️
If you have a pressure washer without wheels you can buy a camping trolly in the Range store, you just use bungie cord to strap it in place, no problem connecting the hoses, handy for rolling it about.
Good idea thanks
I have the same set up and I always rinse the car with the k2 then foam it about 40% less than yours . Leave it on for 5 mins so the foam drags the dirt down then completely rinse it off. After that foam it again then use a mitt lightly and finally rinse.
Got the same kit as you’ve illustrated and yes. It is that easy. It works every time. Thanks for the tip on cleaning the bottle.
Great video, after watching this i purchased one, and I'm very happy with the results. Cheers
Results:
12.1 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 6.91
96.4 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 7.14
For extra fun I measured this other soap I have which I have been testing out. It's some freakishly dangerous pH12 soap meant for who knows what. Why do I have it? Idk. Anyways.
9.4 degrees Celsius leveled at pH 11.92
94.5 degrees Celsius leveled at 11.96
Whaaaat, it didn't even change.
Love this video BUT I Couldn't help but notice... your car, it already looks spotless ?
very well explained video, just one thing I would do in addition to this is pre rinse first with pressure washer to get rid of any grit before applying snowfoam.
Wet the floor first before washing the car!
Great vid……I’ve wasting my foam soap…. Will definitely be trying this on my next wash…. Thanks mate 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for explaining how to use the karcher for this process. I've never done it before and now I'll know a lot more with my products. That is amazing. Thanks heaps. Regards, Jim.
Found your video very useful and have tried it with great results. Thank you so much for your video 😊
Very pleased I came across your video. I was just looking to buy a car wash system and you have guided me in what to get. Thank you Stampy
Great video, helped me out a lot as I'm a novice when it comes to the pressure wash and the foam.
So thank you.
Thanks Leon i'll look into it
Fantastic that helped me no end especially when it came to mixing thank you.
Thanks! It wouldn't be my first choice but do look great when clean!
Brilliant and straight to the point. 👏
Had a K2 pressure washer Used you're set up bought the lance too .works fab .. thank you
Pretty much followed the directions you provided in this video and it worked very well. Super clean car, in fact loads of people have commented. Thanks for the video :)
Great information, I’m new to snow foam , and will be using your method 😊
Nice video and love the pace of your delivery. Good work! 👍🏼
How hot should your water be? Should I boil it in a kettle?
Hi will this work on my motorhome as its grip based well most of it regards MarkGower great vlog by the way thank you 😎😎
Very Good video - really helpful.
Impressed with this. Simple, easy, starightforward. Just what I had been looking for. Thanks.
Never wash a car bottom to top with a mit. At the contact stage always work from the roof down. You’re just dragging grit from the bottom of the car to the top itherwise
Thanks for the tip
I use a petrol leaf blower to dry paint after wash. Very fast with minimal work involved
Actually a good video on foaming. I'll give it a go myself. Thanks for the video.
No problem 👍
Another helpful video especially around dilution etc. I use the a K4 with the Karcher lance and the Autoglym Polar range - blast, wash then seal. The latter is a more effective polish/barrier than the shampoo/conditioner that you've used here and lasts about 1-2 months. Cheers.
Great video for me as I was thinking about buying a K2 and foam lance. I don't need to spend over £200 for a K4 plus more with a lance.
Cheers Stefan
Dang thats pretty thick foam!
Very helpful video never knew about filling the Lance with hot water
Thanks Conor
Nice video. Great snow foam lance. I usually rinse off the snow foam before hand washing with soap and water. I was surprised the see you washing with the snow foam but it seems to work though counter intuitive.
Do you wet the car 🚗 first i have a karcher k7 well explained 😀
Some really good tips there. Would you say the thickness is more to do with the actual lance or the magi foam?
Some top tips there. Thanks for posting.
Thankz dude wasnt sure how to use snow foam definitely going to buy a pressure washer and a snow foam now
Thanks for the tutorial, I have never managed to get thick snow foam and I will certainly try your technique next time.
Very very helpful will try it out for sure thankyou
Amazing video! Nicely broke down into simple steps! Amazing work buddy, will try this soon for sure !
never used snow foam thanks for some great instructions much appreciated
So good and clear instructions
Am working out which Karcher Pressure washer to buy. Prob K5. Wanted to see a dem of its practicality and found this video of Stampy's very useful. Must let you buy me a pint sometime, Stampy!
Anytime!
Top video Geezer! Best pressure wash vid on the net. All the other videos seem like adverts
Sean Moriguchi Thanks!
Good video. Thanks to this I've now got my snowfoam lance working as intended, and I'm using at lot less product. Thanks.
Excellent instructions sir thank you
Ur car looked awesome 👌 Bro.
Having loads of foam doesn’t always equal good cleaning. BH isn’t the thickest foam but has awesome cleaning power.
I have a k2 basic and FJ6 . Using regular car shampoo with some car shampoo with wax . Pretty good results on black car. I would not say no to a thicker foam tho 🤔😊
Thanks for the tip, I can see where I was going wrong with mine, filling the bottle right up, but i did use warm but not hot water. 🙂
I could and do get even better thickness of foam using the same pressure washer, doesn't matter if it was AB or any other product. I will admit thats some serious cling from Magifoam
Followed you advice and it worked, loved the product but managed to find the bottle/kit cheaper on Fleebay.
great vid many thanks.. another tip: I used it on my conservatory and it also done a great job.. well done !!.
Cheers Daveyboy!!
top video, did you mix autoglym shampoo and autoglym polish together, in the lance ? and have you got a link to the polish that you refer to in the video, cheers
Thanks a lot, I want to buy this washer but I have a smaller one with a pressure hose which wraps around it self that's why am hesitate to buy this kartcher
Great video with helpful tips, just bought a Karcher K2 pressure washer which came with foam lance so will try it out if its not as good will buy your setup.
I’ll take my car to the garage 😂 but I do appreciate your video ❤❤
What a great video. In depth, straightforward and no gimmics. Thanks for uploading this. I'm going to buy the kit to start doing this myself!
Great video, very helpful tips A++++! Only slight critism that some of the sound quality could be better.
That foam is perfect. Overly thick foam is useless and only good for pictures.
Great vid mate keep up the good vids
Ill try your method over the weekend and get back to you as ive bought an adaptor for my stanley pressure washer so itll be the first time i try it as ive been using snow foam on hose pipe adaptor which is rubbish tbh
Good info. Owning a black car is like having a part time job if you plan on keeping it looking clean.
I dont lol. thanks for watching though!
You shouldn't be contact washing before pressure washing off the snow foam.
