After nearly 20 miles now in mine with an up tempo 9 miler, some track & road reps at 5K-10K pace and a 5K marathon pace run, I would equate most it to a "lite" version of the Peg Turbo 2. I certainly would not use the Invincible for any of those use cases out of choice. Conversely would not take out the Streakfly for an easy recovery run although would be happy to do so effectively for a few miles warm up and down. Still think the NEXT% is a better shoe for going fast in albeit costs lot more of course. Anyway had to laugh as had a comment on one of my videos on it that they don't want my opinions but I need to ask an "elite" athlete! Know any :) ???
Hahaha seriously? Was he/her self an elite athlete? What's the point not being an elite getting and elite opinion oh the dilema hahahaha it isn't even April fool's yet
I love the Liberate Nitro for trackwork as well - that Puma Grip is amazing on the track surface and gives you just enough bounce to make it fun. One of my fave trackwork shoes in a long while
The Liberate and the Deviate have been two of my favorites over the last year, when I've been able to run anyway. Coming off of an injury for a good deal of the second half of last year was a bite in the rear, but both of these shoes have seen some work in the rotation of late, and with the forgiving nature of the Nitro foam, pain free as well. Looking forward to increasing my mileage in both in the coming months. I might make the plunge with the Streakfly if my fitness comes along far enough; it's an appealing race shoe at the shorter distances, for certain. Cheers.
I think the first album I bought was Into the dragon. Loved that album. Pocket money always spent on either Records or Shoe. Not much has changed in 34 years. 😂
Hey Edd, I'd be interested in you reviewing some more retro shoes. I really enjoyed your review of running in that old Nike Pegasus. Would be pretty damn cool to see some Onitsuka Tiger or Asics 1090 running reviews.
I thought about this too. The only thing is who does that really help now? Either you have the shoe and have your own opinion or you won’t be able to get it anymore.
Superb review Sir Bud, the streakfly and Sen7 and invincible are genuinely great technology. Your reviews are surgically incision grade and I learn so much. I thanketh thee
Good shout on the 2 zoomx shoe combo! Just what I had in mind, as I'll be replacing my 4th and final pair of Turbo 2's, I just cant find them in my size any more (>1100km on first 3 pairs, 300km into the 4th). Before even watching this vid, I've gone for some heavily discounted invincible 2's plus, either streakfly or zoomfly5, can't decide yet hence watching every review I can find, leaning toward streakfly though. I've got a few months till the last turbo 2's need replacing, and they'll last a bit longer if I pull the invincible 2's into the rotation now for the easy and long runs. Got VF 2's for race days so it's zoomx everywhere, speed wise I'm a sub-16 5k'er after some discipline, so maybe the streakfly could be used for a parkrun blast to prolong the VF's.
10.5UK, I first got them in 2020 lockdown when I started running again and been lucky enough to find them again each time. Maybe it's time for a little change, but that lower profile react+zoomx combo seemed like a really good balance for an all round daily @@EDDBUD
I got myself 3 pairs of Liberate... I wish I could run in them more, usually get some arch/plantar fascia irritation if I do too much in it. My dream is Liberate 2 with a midfoot shank or torsionplate à la Adios.
The Puma Nitro series seems to only be on sale in the UK or at least, outside the US, The only time I've ever seen them on sale here is when Puma did it, and it's a rare occurrence..
Hi Edd . I know you are a big fan of the VF4%Fk (as am I) and I was wondering if you could do a three way comparison of the VF4%FK, The VF Next%2 and the StreakFly and what their various strengths and use cases may be. Thanks
How about an alternative to the Saucony Endorphin Speed? Both are plated. I'm trying to find an alternative to the speed for fast intervals and tempo runs, am wondering if the streakfly is up to the job...
I tried the Takumi Sen7 on a road 5K but it’s unlikely I’d choose it again for that. Rather, I enjoy it for track work and speed work on the treadmill.
Midsole yesterday, midsole today, and midsole forever! Great T-Shirt idea? I don't have any Nike brand shoes. I bought the Peg 37 on clearance and sold it later. Wrong choice for an introduction to Nike.
@@EDDBUD Fair point. I guess I associate the Streakfly with 5-10k races, which is what I'd also suggest the Adios 6 is best used for. Nevertheless, superb content once again Edd 👍
Kind of annoyed with these 5-10k limitations on the new shoes coming out. And I doubly don’t like a shoe that is actually designed not to go any farther than 10k because god forbid it eat into next % market share. It’s a no for me. Wonder if the new NB lineup is going to be as specific on the distances as well. If you ask me (and no one is) a light low stack shoe should hold up to half marathon distance easily and possibly even marathon for those who want less shoe over long miles.
The NB Pacer will be similarly marketed based on the early reports from shoe-tubers who went to TRE. However, as a lightweight, efficient lrunner I have not needed anything with a stack height higher than that of the Endorphin Speed, which is my marathon (and sometimes HM) race shoe. I’ve run HM’s in the Brooks Hyperion Tempo, the Boston 8 and 9 with no problems. Martha
I'm a big fat load at 195 pounds, and find the forefoot bottoms in the Liberate on me. Shoes with thin, soft midsoles don't have enough to keep my foot off the ground. I've found shoes like the Freedom 4 and Endorphin Pro work really well due to the more dense feel.
Hi Edd i actually was thinking about invincible/streakfly/vaporfly combo. I have the other two but have been struggling to find a good non plated tempo shoe. I’m not sure whether to get the streakfly or wait and get the peg turbo coming soon?
Hey how would you compare the streakfly with the New Balance rebel v2? I’m looking to get my first running pair for slower 5/10K distances (build up my aerobic) - unless you have better recommendations? Had the Zoomx Invincible but it was way too unstable for my sprained ankle Thank you 🙂
I would avoid the rebel 2 and streakfly for slower shorter distances. If that invincible run was too compressive I would go for something a little firmer.
If you like cushion, but find the Invincible too unstable, I'd suggest the Saucony Triumph 19. It's an excellent, forgiving, and controlled ride (at least compared to the Nike).
BEST CO/PARISON yet to hit will be NIKE PEGG TURBO 2 v PUMA VELOCITY NITRO 2 Puma unashamedly and wisely are honing making the latest Turbo 2 knockoff. No manufacturer comes close, not even Nike at making this cracking allrounder shoe.
I honesty would pick the peg turbo 2 in every situation over the streakfly. I’m a heavy runner I will admit and the Streakfly feels like it has bottomed out even just walking around. Far too soft, not my cup of tea at all. The Takumi sen 8 though 👌🏽
@@GoodFoShizzle thats a solid yes although the rubber on the lateral side won’t last long (in my opinion) strictly racing only I can’t be tempo training even for the cost. Lighter runners will get more miles out of them
Maybe it’s my weight but I love the streakfly. Absolute banger of a shoe. Nice to have something so like with such a forgiving nature. Easily a half marathon shoe for me.
Like I said before, it's an overhyped training shoe. That doesn't mean it's a bad shoe, in fact it's great, reasonable price and a super one to have for tempo days or intervals . But the hype around it is insane, it's not a next %, and if it's anything like the peg ,that zoom x won't last. I stand over the sen 8 being a better racer too , ( with the worst laces in history) but the Nike hype machine has everyone thinking this is the king....the price should tell you their marketing teams are getting a pay rise for bigging up a trainer.
