Yes still sounds beyond contemporary...even if it came out tomorrow it would still sound fresh and relative in reference to the conflict and fucked up politics in the world today...powerful..
MARY CLAYTON. THE BADDEST backround singer alive!!!!!!! She was PREGNANT in HAIR ROLLERS at 2:00 am in NYC when the Stones called her house and BEGGED her to meet them at the studio IMMEDIATELY to fulfill this classic!!❤❤❤ Her husband INSISTED she go at once!!!!!!!!
Great reaction - this is their greater track - has the R’n’B roots, Keith’s guitar at its best - it’s delta blues through a British hippy lens - still gigging in their 80s. Sympathy for the devil is cool as too.
The Rolling Stones just put out a new record like this past week, and it's pretty solid. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are 80(!) years old now, and just won't quit!
On your own watch the "Gimme Shelter War Vietnam" or "Huey Version" it put this iconic tune into perspective. This tune among others would help define an "Era" Then, for super fun, watch the Live Official Version. The instrumentation alone on this tune is, freaking amazing to the ears. Great Reaction. Peace On Ya
When they went on tour for this album they gave a free concert in California. They hired the Hells Angels to guard the stage. Someone ended up getting stabbed to death. It was all filmed by Martin Scorsese and you should see the documentary.
Sorry you asked. Mick Jagger vocals, Keith Richards(on this version) almost all the guitars, normally Bill Wyman on bass, Charlie Watts on drums and backing vocal Merry Clayton. The Album transitions between Brian Jones and Mick Taylor as the second guitarist. Definitely add this to your bike playlist. Most think the song was written about the Vietnam War and it is true that it was a huge hits with the Vets and is used frequently in movies about the war. According to Keith, it started out while watching people take cover from the rain, “a less than sober”Keith convinced himself that his partner was having an affair with her leading man. The song started about rage, jealousy, the desire for revenge, and then realizing that he was mad because he cared. Keith’s partner was named Anita and her leading man was Mick Jagger. Personally I think it works either way and This song live is incredible listen to Lisa Fisher, (look for the video with the red and gold robe). The other suggestions are great but I would love to hear you react to Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) and Midnight Rambler, you might like those enough to add them to the bike list also. Enjoyed your reaction!
Merry Clayton absolutely steals the show from Mick Jagger. You can hear Mick in the background exhorting her on. Her story is amazing and tragic and worth a few minutes to read about her.
This is commentary on the wrenching changes in the streets, with race riots throughout the 60s, Vietnam protests, the rise of a militant left (also a growing radicalization on the far-right too), and the lowkey revolutionary vibe of the 60s counterculture, which rallied around the fast developing rock scene. In the 60s, there was a pseudo-revolutionary group called the Weathermen--they blew up a townhouse in New York in the late 60s--named after a line in a Bob Dylan song. The revolutionary themes of 60s rock, however, have long been lost. By the mid-70s, even rightwing shitkickers wore long hair and bandanas and smoked weed. A lot of the underground music of the 60s became big business, and the scene turned corporate. That's why the punk rock movement took off in the 70s; it was a return to rawness and authenticity.
I saw the Rolling Stones live at the Rose Bowl 1981, Prince was just coming out. He was an opening act and got booed offstage. No one knew him and his genre of music then, shortly after he blew up
You can neva eva eva eva play to much of the Stones lol one of the greatest bands in history great reaction and thanks for all your hard work you put into it
Speaking of the Eagles, a group you might be clear to react to is Poco; "Rose of Cimarron" is one of their best. Timothy B. Schmit is co-lead on vocals -- he left Poco for the Eagles when Randy Meisner quit.
Rolling Stones, since 1962.......next try Sympathy for the Devil......Tumbling Dice..............about 400 more songs and you'll be up to date. Try new Stones from 2023 such as the song Angry
Yeah. Recording equipment wasn't as good back in the day, but, all raw, no autotune. Wild Horses, You Can't Always Get What You Want, too many to name😁✌️
i'm not a Stones fan (i know, i know), but i LOVE Gimme Shelter (rest easy, Charlie Watts 😭) Btw, please please please be careful with the Eagles' music, they're wicked protective of their stuff.
I hope you're not riding a rice rocket, Rick!!! I see you have some reactions to crazy riders and I haven't watched any bc I hate how most people drive them things. Be careful, my brother. So many people love you, including me, and we would be devastated if something happens to you. Get yourself a Hog and cruise the US roads and enjoy the beautiful scenery with the wind in your face. That's one of my dreams, but most likely it won't come true bc some health issues have prevented me from working at my full potential for several years now. Any savings I had are gone. I even had to give up YT Premium and now every vid I watch is full of commercials. Could be much worse, though. #noriceburners
Paint it Black ,I can't get no Satisfaction,Can't you hear me knocking, Street Fighting Man, Let it Bleed, Monkey Man, Bitch, everything live from the Stones is fire
This is what makes good music good. They will still be playing this in 1000 years.
Yes still sounds beyond contemporary...even if it came out tomorrow it would still sound fresh and relative in reference to the conflict and fucked up politics in the world today...powerful..

Such a powerful song, sad and true.

She miscarried a few hours after recording this
She sounded great but stealing the show from Mick...no way.
