I live in Tampa and was at the Stones concert. I was also at the last WHO concert that was in Tampa and I’m planning to go when they come back to Amalie Arena this April
Sad that Stones' longtime drummer, Charlie Watts died late last year. While other long-time bands are quitting touring, Rolling Stones continues on..... Jen, you forgotten to mention that Mick Jagger had surgery in 2019 for valve replacement. Then 6 weeks later, Jagger went back on tour with his band.
More correctly, we had the Everly Brothers and The 4 Seasons. Elvis, by 1964 was just a movie star with cheesy songs. He left Rock and Roll when he got drafted into the army. @@Snowlys She is magnificent, I definitely think she made the song! Shame she was always in the background, another great is PP Arnold, her and Merry Clayton remind me of each other in that way.
The female singer is Merry Clayton who is an American soul and gospel singer and an actress. When in the studio recording the song Mick (lead singer for the band) wondered if it needed a female voice. At almost midnight, one of the producer called his friend Merry to see if she'd come over to the studio to sing. He woke her up but she came over and surprised them all that she was very much pregnant. Sadly she had a miscarriage the next day that some have attributed to the strain of her late-night singing. While Gimme Shelter is perhaps her best known collaboration, she also sang backup vocals on Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama". She was given the unique name "Merry" because she was born on Christmas Day 1948.
@@NotNotKenny I think Keith Richards has said they played a recording to her to familiarise her with the song. Then in one take she sang her part. If she had sung it more times she no doubt could have sung it smoother. The band and producers loved how raw and emotionally she sang in that first track. She wasn't the first choice in singer but was the only one they could come to the studio in the early hours of that morning.
The most famous vocal "crack" in music history. Today they would have autotuned and pitch corrected the sh!t out of it removing all the emotions. I still get a kick out of Mick's "Woo" after that note! Good on you for hearing and appreciating that part! So many reactors either miss it or don't care about it. Keep it up!
I watched four other reaction videos to this song and this is the only one that pointed it out. It was like 2am that the vocal got recorded. Pretty sure the documentary said she still had curlers in here hair when she recorded it.
Fun Fact: The "rape, murder" line is sung by Mary Clayton, a well known back up singer at the time. She was in her night clothes & hair in curlers. The recording session was late at night and she was called in at the last minute. She nailed it in one take. I saw one comment one time that said "this song is the best example of Mick Jagger singing back up on his own song." 🤣 Mary can SANG.
Hey name is Merry, like Merry Christmas (not Mary) and she showed up to the session pregnant and had a miscarriage when she got home from that session .. many think it was due to the emotional nature of the song. She was not a member of the Rolling Stones but one hell of an artist in her own right.
She is an amazingly talented singer. And they ran her ragged on that record. She was about to quit.. when she gave that last take... her voice was cracking and she was exasperated. That's when they said.. we got it.. it was cruel.. but it is an amazing vocal performance. Although I'm sure her other performances were great.
Story goes the female vocalist was brought in the middle of the night to sing vocals. You can hear Mick scream "WOOO" as they were in the control room and knew she killed the vocals.
The part which I dont know if its true is she was pregnant at the time and the high vocals she reached caused her to miscarriage. Like I said not sure if that part is true
@@chicagoblues81 Yeah, the sources I've come across are dubious. Apparently that she had a miscarriage is fact. How, or if, it was related to that late night session is unclear. Tragic regardless.
@@chicagoblues81 She was pregnant and she did miscarry within a few days of recording this but I don’t think anyone can say definitively what caused it. I don’t think she’s ever said.
He didn't say "WOOO" because she killed but because her voice cracked. It's iconic moment in music because they left it in. They embraced imperfections which ironically in return made some of their music truly perfect.
This was a huge song during the Vietnam War. One of many anti-war songs. Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth, Edwin Starr - War to name a couple of others.
There's another one that I had just heard recently that I had completely forgotten about by Timmy Thomas - Why Can't We Live Together. Check it out and I'll bet you remember it.
Try “Sympathy for the Devil” live from Rock and Roll Circus. It’s early days Stones. Really shows you “moves like (Mick) Jagger”. You can even spot John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Pete Townshend (The Who), and others in the audience. Great performance!
They all performed at the Rock n Roll Circus. Townshend with the Who, John Lennon with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums.
There’s a documentary called 20 Feet from Stardom that talks about the black woman who sang on this. She got awakened in the middle of the night and had no idea who The Rolling Stones were. She just killed it. Fascinating movie. You should check it out.
When Merry hits those voice breaks , they travel so deep inside me that I don't only get goosebumps, but it makes cry . Just travels to your soul , you can feel the pain in her voice.
Close to peace, close to war It doesn't take much to make either one. Great song, that was the worse time to pause the song man damn. Check out the rolling stones song Miss You. It's from 1978, you can here how their sound had changed a bit. Also you guys keep asking for new rappers to check out and I've been commenting this guys forever. His name is Classified. He is a candian rap artists. Check out the Song that aint classy
The Rolling Stones classic songs - 'Sympathy for the devil' ... 'Paint it black' ... "It's only rock n' roll" ... 'Start me up' ... 'Ruby Tuesday' ... "You can't always get what you want" ... 'Miss you' ... 'Mixed emotions' ... 'Anybody seen my baby?' ... 'Love is strong' ... 'Street fighting man'... 'Brown sugar'... "Can't you hear me knocking?" ... 'Beast of burden' ... 'Angie'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
You won't regret hearing more songs from the Rolling Stones they have an incredible catalog going back close to 60 years and they're still going strong. Too many great to list them all but some of my favorites are "Angie", "Wild Horses", "Moonlight Mile" and the one that put them on the map in 1965, "Satisfaction" (do the studio version first).
Apocalyptic song really. At the end of the 60s the Stones were delving deeply into the social & political culture (sex, drugs, war & rock & roll) of those times. This song is the result. Timeless.
One of their most famous songs is Satisfaction. I always joke that we will all be sitting in the nursing home when that riff comes on bopping our heads up and down. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs in rock.
It is really cool seeing your generation finding out how good these songs were. Ever notice that after 30 seconds you know it is a BANGER.....lol..................Watch the fade-outs on songs.......Some have a surprise...lol
The backing singer singing "Rape, Murder" etc gives me goosebumps every time I hear it! The singer on the original recording was Merry Clayton. She was just a hired backing singer. Her story is actually very interesting and is told in the documentary "20 Feet From Stardom" which talks about four different black backing singers, and the structural racism in the music business that they experienced.
I just saw the Rolling Stones for the 2nd time this past Oct. and they are still awesome, energetic and rocking like the old days. Mind you these guys are in their late 70’s now. Check them out on UA-cam live in 2021 and you’ll see what I mean. I love the Stones🥰🥰🥰🥰 I go to a lot of concerts it’s been my thing since I was old enough to go. I started in the mid 70’s. I have been to at least 200-300+ concerts in my 60yrs😉😎 Stones have backup singers and she was one of them. I can’t remember her name off hand.
The Stones have a long history and a variety of music to explore ... this track was written in the late 60s when the Vietnam War and race relations were threatening to tear the country apart, so the track itself has that built in menace to it. They decided that a pleading female voice was needed to really convey the message, so they brought in their friend Mary Clayton to provide the haunting vocals with Stones singer Mick Jagger. The story goes that they called her in the middle of the night to come in and record her part, so she drove herself to the studio and laid out that amazing counterpoint vocal WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT! crazy
What I liked about the Stones is they had a rawness to their music that you don't get from others from that era. It's not just bluesy sound, it's a ragged sound.
“Sympathy for the Devil” (Lyric video) tells the story through the ages from the devils point of view. Amazing story telling, will 🤯 your minds. Classic Rolling Stones, musically and lyrically.
The Rolling Stones have been a rock group since 1962 and are still performing. After 60 years, these guys are pretty old, but you would never know it if you see how Mick Jagger (lead singer) can still move. My friend Kerry put it best, I think, when we were still in high school, when he said, "Mick dances like a rooster on acid." It's very unique and pretty incredible.
Jagger very deliberately modelled his stagecraft on James Brown. He is fully aware that performing in small clubs, where they started out, and vast arenas requires different movement. Arenas require expansive, exaggerated moves. Watch black and white film of young Jagger in small venues - at first glance, it looks like he hardly moves a muscle yet each twitch adds to the song and the girls of the time found it rivetingly attractive!
Merry Clayton was just sitting at home one late night and said there was this young rock band that were cutting an album and could she come down and lend back-up vocals. Legend has it that she showed up with curlers in her hair. Nobody at the time knew this song and her performance would become rock legend!
Merry Clayton did the amazing backing vocals; according to my memory of what I read, she was several months pregnant when she recorded this track. Her incredible voice and soul really carries this song to the top of the Rolling Stones’ hit list.
another classic great band. i personally prefer pink floyd, led zep, queen. to these or "the who" , beatles too. mainly cos i prefer the singers voice. but all greats. also fun to realise they are all british bands.
Ah man, first time hearing the "Stones", they are rock royalty! I'm having a blast watching you young folk reacting to the music I grew up on...Rock on!
Try some Rod Stewart with Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood…”Maggie May” live Unplugged & Seated. Former #1 hit and both are two time members of the Rock & Roll hall fame.
Best Stones song, and best background vocal in recorded music history. Merry Clayton supposedly miscarried a baby due to the strain she put into that vocal. You replayed when her voice broke from the effort. Unbelievable performance. Lisa Fischer did a great job during her years touring with the Stones.......beautiful.
The song has several meanings Vietnam War, race riots, inner-city violence, pregnant teenagers. Rolling Stone song “Sympathy For The Devil”, “Paint it Black”, (I Can’t Get Know) Satisfaction”, “Brown Sugar”, Wild Horses”, “ Angie “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, “It’s Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It)”, “Honky Tonk Woman”, “Mother’s Little Helper”, “Midnight Rambler”, “Under My Thumb”, “Jumpn’ Jack Flash”, “Miss You”, and 100 more.
Tumbling Dice, Street Fighting Man, Wild Horses, Angie, Shattered, Monkey Man, Can't You Hear Me Knockin', It's Only Rock n' Roll, Beast Of Burden ... among many great Stones songs. They like to collaborate, so they bring in session musicians and singers. Keith Richards is one of the top guitarists of all time, brilliant.
There is an almost endless list of great Rolling Stones songs: "Brown Sugar," "Jumping Jack Flash," "Paint It Black," "Satisfaction," "Start Me Up," "She's A Rainbow," "Dead Flowers," "Street Fighting Man," "Monkey Man," "Honky Tonk Women," "You Can't Always Get What You Want," "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," "Happy," "Under My Thumb," "It's Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It)," "Miss You," and more.
The song 'Gimme shelter' was written by The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger (vocals) and Keith Richards (guitar)... the female singer was Merry Clayton, who was a guest on the track from 1969. And yes, the band's logo w/ the mouth & tongue is Mick Jagger 😂 The Rolling Stones were formed in the early 60's in London, England... around the same time The Beatles started to become popular in the UK. The original band that recorded their 1st album (of blues/ R&B cover songs) in 1964 was: Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards & Brian Jones (guitars), Bill Wyman (bass) & Charlie Watts (drums)... The Beatles in '64 were marketed as 'good boys'... so The Rolling Stones played the role of 'bad boys'... but both bands got involved w/ drugs, scandals, arrests, etc. 😂 After recording 2 cover records, The Rolling Stones attempted to write original songs... Mick Jagger & Keith Richards found themselves writing most of the original songs - the duo became known as 'the Glimmer Twins'... Their 60's albums took off in sales as the band toured the world. Unfortunately, guitarist Brian Jones left the band by 1969... he was found dead that same year, drowned in his swimming pool. Guitarist Mick Taylor joined the band in '69, but left by 1974. Ronnie Wood (guitar) joined and has been w/ them since. The Rolling Stones went thru periods where they weren't popular, but always found a way to come back stronger, and stayed together for 6 decades (despite often not touring, or even speaking to each other at times) Their iconic albums included 'Let it bleed' (1969), "Sticky fingers" (1971), 'Exile on Main Street' (1972), 'Some girls' (1978) and 'Tattoo you' (1981). In 1992, bassist Bill Wyman left the band. The Rolling Stones never replaced him... opting to record & tour w/ session musicians. In the 90's decade, The Rolling Stone proved more popular than ever w/ platinum selling records in the US and sold-out arenas and stadiums worldwide on tour, effectively becoming the world's most successful rock n' roll band by longevity. Their music incorporated all their influences from R&B, blues, funk, country, rock, psychedelic, and (old school) dance music. Their catalog of albums is one of the biggest in rock n' roll history, stretching from the 60's until 2010's. Charlie Watts (drums) passed away in 2021 at age 80... The Rolling Stones have been touring w/ a session drummer.
They started as a blues band that played some rock and roll, became a pop band, had an experimental, psychedelic year or two while harassed by the police, courts, etc., then came out of that playing rocking blues again their way, being called “the greatest rock & roll band in the world”, and playing music more powerful and creative than they’d ever done before. “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, and “Little Red Rooster” are early; “Paint It Black”, “Ruby Tuesday”, and “She’s a Rainbow” are middle, and they burst out with “Sympathy For the Devil”, “Stray Cat Blues”, “Jumping Jack Flash”, “Monkey Man”, “Honky Tonk Women”, “Bitch”, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, ….. and it goes on… still! They released an excellent blues album in 2016, ‘Blue and Lonesome’. Live I’d check out ‘The Rolling Stones’ Rock & Roll Circus’, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen,…the Rolling Stones!’, ‘Cocksucker Blues’, if you can find it’, ‘Gimme Shelter’, which is also a brilliant documentary about the end of the hippie dream at Altamont Speedway, with Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, and some Hell’s Angels, or ‘“Some Girls” Live In Texas ‘78’. That’s scratching the surface of this band. Good luck!
I LOVE THE STONES!!!!! This has been my fav band since I can remember. Top 3 albums for me are Let it Bleed. That is the album Gimmie Shelter was on. Sticky Fingers with Can't you hear me knocking. Sister Morophine. Dead Flowers. Brown Sugar and Wild Horses ( my least favorite song). The third album is Some Girls. That has Beast of Burden. Shattered. Some Girs. Missing you. My gosh dude. Please do more reactions. How about Paint it Black or Sympathy for the Devil live is awesome! The original live has John Lennon and Yoko in the audience.
The black woman singing is Mary Clayton. She was a gospel/soul singer… Not part of the group, just brought in for the session. Her vocals really own this song!!
She was one of the best back round singers in the in the industry. Back then music had a big production element. A handful of back round singers. Were responsible for providing backing vocals to many groups. Her name was Merry Clayton. Her only job was backing other artists. Mick ( lead singer ) Called her in the middle of the night. To come down to the studio, & record that. She was six months pregnant at the time.
If you check out the Stones live then I would recommend a performance from between 1969 and 1972. If you want to watch a more recent gig then go for 1995 to 1998. In terms of studio recordings, I recommend 'Miss You', 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', 'Paint It Black', 'Sympathy for the Devil', 'Tumbling Dice', 'Bitch' and 'Can't You hear Me Knocking' to start off with. Also, the Stones actually released a brand new single a couple years ago called 'Living In a Ghost Town' which is pretty sweet.
Their LIVE Performance of " Sympathy for the Devil " from their Rock n Roll Circus is AMAZING))) 💎⚡💋 it's here on You Tube and Captures them at their Very BEST!
Other Stones' songs from around this era, "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Monkey Man", "Sympathy For The Devil", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", "Midnight Rambler", "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)", "Wild Horses"...
when you hear Merry Clayton's voice crack it is heart wrenching. She miscarried shortly after. I was born in 1954 and played in loads of bands including with my mate Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks. It was a fantastic time to be alive.
Contemporaries of the Beatles, they took their rock and roll in a different direction, embodying the lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock anf roll. I think the other big classic hits are Paint It Black, Sympathy for the Devil, Satisfaction
Oh yeah definitely see them live. Mick (lead singer) is a total character on stage. All of them are a bit unique in their own ways & you get a better feel for their personalities watching them play.
Saw them live three times and have on mind at least great 30 tunes worthy a check . Sympathy for the devil , Satisfaction , Jumpin` jack flash , You can´t always get what you want , Brown Sugar , Wild horses , Sister morphine ,Midnight rambler ,Stray gat blues , Let it bleed and the list goes on and on . The Beatles and the Stones are the pillars of what we call rock and roll , both became famous during the same time .
Mick Jagger is the vocalist for Rolling Stones and one of the greatest of all time for a band. Legend and still selling out arenas to this day in his 80s . Icon
This is Mick Jagger singing! Guaranteed you both have heard some of their songs before be it at a sporting event or a movie. I hope you start listening to them more! It’s fun, let loose rock n roll.
I saw the stones in late 80s in St Louis MO at Busch Stadium, awesome show. ' Jumpin Jack Flash... satisfaction... brown sugar, a few of their biggest hits.
Don't you wonder what happened though? I've been watching the younger generation react to songs for about two years now and it never ceases to amaze me how little they know of older music. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s I heard older music from parents, TV, Mtv, movies, radio, etc. I wasn't weird. Everyone I knew heard of all the hippie music, Golden Oldies from the 50s, the crooners like Frank Sinatra, Big Band Swing, etc. It's almost like they were kept away from it purposely. I seriously want to know what happened. It doesn't make sense to me.
It is strange to think anyone has not heard of the Stones... And as wonderful as they are as you are about to find out... I wish I could listen for the first time... Back in the sixties the Beatles would release a record one week, the Stones the next, followed by Hendrix the next week, etc etc.. Seeing you react for the first time is like a rare gem, only better. Thanks
The Stones are such a prolific band. Based in the sound of the delta blues, they have utilised that sound to make some badass rock music! *OMG! I saw y’all just reacted to Nandi w/ The Foos. You should see her recreate THIS Stones track ON HER OWN! All instruments! Here’s the link so you won’t have to search it. I saw it a couple days ago. It’s so cool! ua-cam.com/video/gdu1jVbgRrY/v-deo.html
The name of the powerful backing singer is Merry Clayton. She was called into the studio early hours in the morning and arrived in her pyjamas and rollers in her hair whilst being heavily pregnant. And sang with that outstanding voice. ( Sadly, the next day she miscarried her baby). No one ever knows if it was the stress of the recording studio.
Merry Clayton, a very famous singer in her own right, is doing the backup vocals for this song. When she sings the lyrics Rape..Murder... and her voice cracks at the end, she really cemented this song into an iconic status.
Backup singer, whenever they perform this they have a backup singer doing that part, the classic backup singer doing that part was Linda Ronstadt at one of their shows
The Stones are great live. I remember they actually released a live film that I went to see in the theaters when I was a like 13. It felt like we were actually at the show. I can't remember what it was called, but I'll try to find out if it's on YT. There's another lyric video for one of my other favorite songs called Sympathy for the Devil. Highly recommend that one as well. This is another one of those bands that will have you scratching your head from one song to the next. They are all over the place, and yet always distinctively The Rolling Stones.
The Stones came to play for us at our university in 1971. I paid £1 and thought that was a LOT, So glad I did go, how were we to know they would be iconic? How could they? We were all young. Thrilled that they, the Who and others are still on the journey with us! Greetings from rural Ireland. BTW Sympathy for the DEvil has become an audience participation anthem at Stone's concerts today. Live at Hyde Park LOndon is a feast. Lots of love ☘☘☘☘☘
That is the voice of Ms. Merry Clayton. Listen carefully snd you'll hear Mich Jagger in the background egging her on with a "Whoooo!" - the second part where her voice cracks.
The Rolling Stones core are: Mick Jagger (vocals, harmonica) Keith Richards (guitar) Brian Jones (guitar 1962-1969 RIP) > Mick Taylor (guitar 1969-1975) > Ronnie Wood (guitar 1975-present) Bill Wyman (bass guitar 1962-1993) Charlie Watts (drums 1962-2021 RIP) Only Mick and Keith remain and who were the main song writers since the beginning 60 years ago.
@@shanenolan8252 Nah, they wrote lots of songs before Satisfaction. They even had a UK number one with 'The Last Time' (which they wrote) a year before Satisfaction. I think 'Tell Me' was the first song they wrote but it didn't do much in the charts.
@@ARD-lk5pr i heard they had a lot of song or hits , but they didn't write them they were not making real money and they asked John Lennon for advice and he said you have to write your own songs as you receive 80 percent as a writer. This song and "Paint It Black" are my two favorite songs by them. The guitar work in both is just brilliant.
Spot on
Fun Fact: The "rape, murder" line is sung by Mary Clayton, a well known back up singer at the time.
O didn't know that thanks Jennifer
Cool! Thanks for sharing. This has always been my favorite Rolling Stones song and it's because of of the back up vocals. They def make the song.
Yes, for me, Merry's part makes the song...it's not the same song, or as great, without her.
I cant listen to this song the same way since I heard she was 9 months pregnant and had a miscarriage the next day.
Oh and the female is Merry Clayton. She is fantastic and sang on many great bands/artists songs
Yeah she lent her amazing voice on this
She miscarriage Shortly after recording her part of this song
@@DairwoodBarton27 ☹ Did not know that
Story goes the female vocalist was brought in the middle of the night to sing vocals. You can hear Mick scream "WOOO" as they were in the control room and knew she killed the vocals.
From Merry herself....

Right on Bruce. Fortunate Son, and Ohio also captured the mood on the street back then. Regards to a fellow traveler.
There's another one that I had just heard recently that I had completely forgotten about by Timmy Thomas - Why Can't We Live Together. Check it out and I'll bet you remember it.
That’s a blast from my past for sure. That had to be the inspiration for “ The Wii Shop Theme” early 2000’s. Great fun Bruce.
"20 Feet from Stardom" is a documentary you should watch. It features Merry Clayton, the backing singer here.
Merry*
There is a lot of the Stones to explore. "Can't You Hear me Knocking" is a great track with an impromptu improvisation between guitar and Sax.
Facts❤️❤️❤️
My number one band of all time the fabulous Rolling Stones..lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Close to peace, close to war
It doesn't take much to make either one.
Never even heard of the Stones?!? Y'all been living under a rock! 😅😅
Great Stones choice. "Shattered" is a showcase piece for that Jagger swag.
YES!
" I can’t remember her name off hand."
Merry Clayton.
@@calguy3838 yes thanks kiddo😎
The Stones have a long history and a variety of music to explore ... this track was written in the late 60s when the Vietnam War and race relations were threatening to tear the country apart, so the track itself has that built in menace to it. They decided that a pleading female voice was needed to really convey the message, so they brought in their friend Mary Clayton to provide the haunting vocals with Stones singer Mick Jagger. The story goes that they called her in the middle of the night to come in and record her part, so she drove herself to the studio and laid out that amazing counterpoint vocal WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT! crazy
Wild Horses and Angie..two of my favorites
Wild Horses 🐎
One of my favorite ❤ of the Rolling Stones
My all-time favourite Stones song. There is a great version of this live. Go for it!
1995 Amsterdam?
What I liked about the Stones is they had a rawness to their music that you don't get from others from that era. It's not just bluesy sound, it's a ragged sound.
Yes! Their almost messy rawness is so special.
The anti Beatles
“Sympathy for the Devil” (Lyric video) tells the story through the ages from the devils point of view. Amazing story telling, will 🤯 your minds. Classic Rolling Stones, musically and lyrically.
It might be the greatest rock song ever written
A wonderful piece of music with Merry Clayton as a guest
Merry Clayton was just sitting at home one late night and said there was this young rock band that were cutting an album and could she come down and lend back-up vocals. Legend has it that she showed up with curlers in her hair. Nobody at the time knew this song and her performance would become rock legend!
Mick brought the back up singer into the studio in the middle of the night. She was tired and pregnant at the time. PERFECTION 🥰
When she says Murder with that screech they put it in anyway because it sounded great...lol
The scream that caused a miscarriage
@@Jtgagemac I'm pretty sure singing doesn't cause that!
That was 🔥🔥

Good for you researching the band first. Merry Clayton doing backup is also worthy of some research. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.
They have tons of songs, different style songs."Sympathy For The Devil" is another signature piece.
Spectacular lyrics.
Check out the Stones live version of ‘Satisfaction’ at Madison Square Garden on the 1969 US tour
It is phenomenal!
Try some Rod Stewart with Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood…”Maggie May” live Unplugged & Seated. Former #1 hit and both are two time members of the Rock & Roll hall fame.
"Damn!"
I agree wholeheartedly.
And yes, the band's logo w/ the mouth & tongue is Mick Jagger 😂
The Rolling Stones were formed in the early 60's in London, England... around the same time The Beatles started to become popular in the UK. 😂
After recording 2 cover records, The Rolling Stones attempted to write original songs...
Great band with tons of music. Try ' can you hear me knockin ' you won't be disappointed. Thnx for this one guys!
The Stones are my favourite band, so great choice. You should also check out other songs like, Miss You, Honky Tonk Women and Paint it black. 👍

One of the best rock intro's of all times, the guitar/drum part + the haunting voice, oh man!
You got it right! War is just a shot away but love is just a kiss away.
You're right! The music to the song back then said a lot more than the words themselves.
Mick Jagger is the vocalist for Rolling Stones and one of the greatest of all time for a band. Legend and still selling out arenas to this day in his 80s . Icon
All time classic! Maybe their best song. I suggest their song: Paint It Black
Still touring!!! Saw them live at Inglewood Forum in 1995, Just as good and lively as the 60's!!
This was their Vietnam song. 1969. It stood the test of time. It's still a really cool song and has one of my favorite song intros ever.
never heard of the Stones , where have you been all yr life , this band is top of the bill since the sixties and still do today.
Merry made this song! The Stones were so smart to have her perform on this track!!
Jumping jack flash is highly under rated, that song is TOUGH
Lol............You guys have decades of music to get through. Enjoy the ride.....Try Honky Tonk Woman
Great song!

The Rolling Stones need to be seen in a live performance. You hit it.
Jagger was a great lyricist.... 'Dead Flowers' (1971) live & 'Sweet Virginia' live are both super cool country/rock tunes by these guys...
Yes listen to them live and they have the greatest show on tour
That is the voice of Ms. Merry Clayton. Listen carefully snd you'll hear Mich Jagger in the background egging her on with a "Whoooo!" - the second part where her voice cracks.
The Rolling Stones core are:
Mick Jagger (vocals, harmonica)
Keith Richards (guitar)
Brian Jones (guitar 1962-1969 RIP) > Mick Taylor (guitar 1969-1975) > Ronnie Wood (guitar 1975-present)
Bill Wyman (bass guitar 1962-1993)
Charlie Watts (drums 1962-2021 RIP)
Only Mick and Keith remain and who were the main song writers since the beginning 60 years ago.

@@shanenolan8252 Nah, they wrote lots of songs before Satisfaction. They even had a UK number one with 'The Last Time' (which they wrote) a year before Satisfaction. I think 'Tell Me' was the first song they wrote but it didn't do much in the charts.

Life runs in cycles. I was a child during the Detroit riots. It all ebbs and flows. Were in another era of strife...we will grow past it as well and have times of peace. And a few decades later, a new struggle. Its how this all happens. We forget what struggle feels like....then experience....then we forget what peace feels like....then the experience.
