Winter Truck Camping in an Unexpected Snowstorm.

- This week I get caught in a snowfall while boondocking in the Foothills State Forest. It was nothing like the snowstorm that is predicted later in the week, but it caught me off-guard. Its beautifully quiet and peaceful. It starting to feel like Christmas around here with the snow. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks Steve. It's funny when you look at the ground you can see all my foot tracks in the snow going back and fourth setting up my camera to get the shots. If you were looking down watching me I would look crazy walking circles around the camper, or when pulling in and out of the campsite multiple times before leaving. I'm glad to hear you appreciate the effort!

Awesome video and drone footage. Reminds me of a place I used to ice fish with my ex up by Brainerd. It is so peaceful and relaxing to just be in a setting like this, and to experience all the sounds of the lake making ice, animals going through the woods, and snow falling around during the winter season here in MN. It is amazing!!

Now I want to load up the AF for a little winter camping!! Thanks for sharing!!... I put a slide topper on our 811 because clearing snow off the slide is no fun, especially when it turns to ice. A side bonus was that I no longer get a condensation build up just above the slide on the interior.
I should look at installing a slide topper. I have to go on the roof often to clean the slide, especially when camping under pines.

i did the same thing for the last winterstorm i drove to the forest and stayed there during 4 days i've a 2011 arctic fox 811 -15c and water inside all has been awesome not frozen it's one the reason why i bought a truck camper freedom with all that we need :)
Sound like an awesome time! Truck campers are freedom. I say it a hotel room in the bed of my truck. I love how spacious they are but still able to fit down forestery roads without issues. Thanks for watching!

Just recently come across your channel and enjoy it very much , I like your approach to camping you don’t need or want a whole entourage of people with you . I had many years of traveling and camping but that’s over now , yep it ends, so I will just ride along wit you for a while if that’s ok .

That place was beautiful. I'm parked overnight ar a Walmart right now. Tomorrow I'll be headed out to a National Forest in search of waterfalls. Hey Kenny great video. I’m thinking about taking my TC out this winter for the first time. For only one reason; to ice fish. I couldn’t stand camping next to those lakes and not cutting some holes!

Yep… I am picky too about my camping spots! Isn’t camping in MN during the winter gorgeous? I have a red light flashlight that lets me see what’s out there at night but doesn’t bother wildlife. I have seen raccoons and deer up close during the night using it. Some of my favorite RV camping times have been on chilly MN nights…. It’s fun to meet a fellow winter camping adventurer neighbor! 😁
The red light is a great idea. I'm gonna look into that. I do love how empty the forest and parks get in the winter.

Looks like lots of fun, and yes, the snow makes for a beautiful drive. On advice from one of your previous videos, we purchased a battery powered blower for our truck camper. Now that winter has arrived, it has doubled as a redneck snow-brush for our vehicles. Thanks for the tip.

Always great to see one of your videos pop up. I’m moving from a camper van to a truck and camper in January and can’t wait. Signing for the truck tomorrow! 😅The only thing I’m going to miss about being in a van is the easy access to 🚽! It’s been great to watch your videos as you get out and about in some really extreme temperatures! I was in Grand Forks in 2019 from September with temps in the high 80’s to mid December with temps in the teens- figure in the wind chill (HOWLING winds!!) and it was like -17F. Had get a motel room then. Is your camper winterized and you dry camp only during the winter season? Keep on rollin’ dude! ✌🏼
This winter I drained the water a few weeks ago. We were seeing -5 below temps in November and I didn't want to Battel the temperatures. It's costly to keep the temperatures up. Last winter I made it into January with water in the tanks.

@@KennyOfAllTrades yes it will sir. Working is overrated lol. But 30 years in roofing, I like the cold more than the heat.
I would melt on a roof in the summer...seriously that might kill me. I got to much insulation on me for that job. The great thing about the cold is you can always put another layer of clothes on. In the summer you can only take off so much before getting arrested.
@@KennyOfAllTrades you are exactly right. Slinging 450° hot tar in the summer while having to wear long sleeves is definitely a young man's game.
I had to look this up on google earth. I lived most of my life about an hour and a half north east of here but had never heard of it. But that’s the way it is in northern MN.

It's the cheapest I've found. It's over double that in Brainerd. Every once in awhile Von Hanson will run a special...but nothing like Fleet in Little Falls.

I hope so! Ive had a few strange things happen in my videos. In the video of the lost forest there was a whooping sound comming from deep in the woods. It's had such a deep rumble it my body feel like it was vibrating, that was odd. Then last spring I came across a remote single campsite in the middle of no where. As I was closing out the video 2 small rocks were thrown at me. I was completely alone, I hadn't seen anyone around, so that was wierd. Not saying it was Bigfoot, but it was wierd. Then there was the State Park last winter where my truck broke down and I captured a really loud EVP on camera...there's some strange things happening up here in these woods.

I know driving can b bad, but the snow is so beautiful. That lil blower comes in handy, see u use it alot in u videos. It's a good thing that u can follow where the drone was last & what happened. Had a great time watching.
I like to get close to the branches Lol. It looks cool when I pull it off.....but I crash a lot.
That's how I do it. I purchase 100 gallons of propane during the summer when the price is rock bottom prices. Then when I need propane for my fireplace, I don't have to worry about paying that high price during the winter, my price is locked in.
