    Did my x type yesterday and it worked a treat after only one application. Once you do it the first time, drilling and tapping etc, it takes 10 mins to do it each time you top up the oil/ windscreen washers, or wait till it clogs again. Great tip. Thanks.

    Great video. Did mine with a 5mm drill to tap a 6mm thread for M6 bolt (as I was not confident tapping the thread) so I could have a second go with a 6.8mm drill if necessary. (It wasn't 👍) Need to remove the fuel filter to get drill access and a 90degree drill attachment from Toolstation (£11). Sorted!

    Just to help people, reason it's 6.8mm drill is because 8mm thread standard pitch is 1.25mm so take away 1.25 from 8 = 6.75mm (6.8 is close enough) this works for all metric threads

    Feller.... It's my Wife's car which we have been having serious issues with. We were at the stage where we were going to trade it on on another car because it was going into limp mode every couple of minuets. I was pointed in the direction of this video and I though well, what have I got to lose? Nothing so I gave it a go. Result.... Car now running perfectly! in fact running better than before. I simply can not believe that this 15 minuet fix with a can of Mr Muscle has fixed the dam thing! Luckily it's her car, so she can give the BJ which you deserve!!!! ;-) Honestly though - Well bloody done!!!

      I'm on same tether as you mate, mines at the stage of limp mode every day sometimes it will sometimes it won't it's a tw@ 😂 is it still going strong 5 month on? Think I'm about to go and get a 6.8 mill drill bit and a tap set. Did you take fuel filter off

    This does work, Fixed my limp mode, took several sprays to clear vaines, so just repeat every few days, and it will eventually clear the muck and work, fixed my limp mode on my xtype, thank you Alan

    I did this last year too. First time tapping a hole since metalwork class in school 25 years ago, but it worked out perfectly. Such a pity Jaguar (or Ford) didn't have the foresight to do this in the factory.

    Worked Great after 4 or 5 goes. Now it works first time every time the turbo starts getting sticky.

    Did you move the Fuel pump to line the drill up, as it seems to get in the way, just checking before I do this.

    When drilling, what happened to the swarf that will fall inside the turbo.

    • @winstinwin7650

      Johnathan Davis that’s my concern , the metal filings have to go some where

    • @feedbrain6257
      @feedbrain6257 6 років тому +1

      For good safety, you must open the same times the Catalytic converter and put it away

    • @teacoffee5847
      @teacoffee5847 5 років тому

      i wonder if you could whack a strong magnet to the base or bastardize somthing around the drill bit to keep it all from falling?
      its a great idea, but your concerns are my worry too if i go ahead and do somthing like this to my turbo in the future i wouldnt want to ruin the rest of the car!

    • @Interceptor3500
      @Interceptor3500 4 роки тому +3

      Gravity should dictate that the filings will fall down the catalytic converter and out of harms way.

  • @nathanwebb4959
    @nathanwebb4959 5 років тому +5

    I'm rather concerned about doing this... what would happen to all of the metal filings that go into the turbo?

    • @waterman576
      @waterman576 4 роки тому

      Nathan Webb use a magnet whilst drilling slowly use oil also and yes this does work really well

    • @ukaypete
      @ukaypete 2 роки тому +1

      @@waterman576 , any swarf will drop into the exhaust and be blown out, will not get in the turbo or engine...use grease on the tap, it will hold the swarf...
