  • In this video, I share exactly how I managed to successfully & beautifully heal from a 3rd-degree tear.
I forgot to mention two sources that I found extremely helpful when I had questions about my recovery:
    1. Tinto App: tinto.app.link/mmah.
They have a range of experts from midwives to pelvic floor specialists. You can also ask other mums questions who have gone through the same thing or view similar past questions.
    2. 4th Degree Tear Support Group on Facebook. I couldn't find a 3rd-degree group however, this group was also very useful.
    Mentioned Products:
    NHS Squeezy App: www.squeezyapp.com/
    Round Cushion: amzn.to/3pXsmhl
My Expert Midwife Bath Salts: amzn.to/3pUBLG7
    My Expert Midwife Spray: amzn.to/34BGJ3f
    Portable Sitzbath: amzn.to/3w04ZHy
    Always Briefs: amzn.to/3q0buX0
    Maternity Pads:amzn.to/3tSBQeG

Thank you for this video. I’m 3 weeks pp, I had a 3rd degree tear too and your words reminded me to not to be frustrated, to be patient and gentle with myself. I’ve been feeling so “unproductive” but now I realize that my body has been trying to heal at its own time. I want to be there for my baby, and in order to get better I need to rest 🥺

9 days post partum and 3b tear plus episiotomy! This advice is so valuable!
I was told not to use donut pillow as you could burst stitches! Also to anyone reading this, don’t be suprised if it takes a while for your milk supply to come in/ and do use formula if it does as you don’t want a starving baby. I was feeding from 12 midday until 1am wondering what was wrong with my baby- turns out he wasn’t getting anything. This is because you need food, water (lots) and plenty of sleep to heal. Your body won’t produce anything extra initially as it’s trying to fix itself and focusing it’s energy on this. I am only just getting milk in!
Sending love to any mummas going through this too. It’s a long road to recovery but this video goes to show that you can recover well if you look after yourself and this makes me feel so much more positive xxx

i wish i had read this (formula) 5 days earlier it would have been much different. My baby was so unsettled and had to be up all night and day because she was hungry. Plus having a third degree tear.

Thank you so much for the video and reaffirming moms who experienced something similar. I'm a first time mom and I'm 4 weeks postpartum, also had a third degree tear. I feel pain in my pubic bone every other day, I need to roll on my side to get out of bed or get up from the couch. I get so frustrated with myself some days coz I wish the healing could speed up a bit. Your video helped remind me to be patient with myself. Thank you momma! ❤

Hi. Hope you’re okay now. Im also a first time mom with a 3rd degree tear and i have the same problems you do. Have to roll on my side whenever I have to get up. I wanted to ask if you have healed now and how much time did it take to heal completely? I’m going through all kinds of emotions and just feel like I wont ever be my old self.

    • @Madalene
      @Madalene  2 роки тому +1

@@olivessite Aww reading your message took me back to the exact same emotions. I’m 8.5 pp and honestly, I’m doing great. I have noticed that I still need to keep on top of my pelvic floor muscles otherwise they do weaken but it’s an easy task so I don’t mind.
I would say it took a good 4/5 months to fully heal. It took a while because of a number of obstacles. Not resting for long enough, not exercising my pelvic floor muscles from day 1 & other things. I remember I caught covid and the constant coughing strained my pelvic floor muscles but I did get there in the end & you will too! This will pass and you will feel like yourself again. Try to lay down as much as you can. I would say 4 weeks of laying down through most of the day is what my body needed and if I did that, I would have healed a lot faster.
It’s not a nice thing to go through but the tissues in that region are amazing at healing so trust your body. You will get phone calls from a physiotherapist and you’ll also have check ups from the gynaecologist if you’re based in the UK so you’ll be able to ask questions about your recovery. Every time you visit the midwife, let them check because it gave me the peace of mind that I hadn’t developed an infection. I would convince myself that I had but I never did. You got this and so has your body. Remember rest, good hygiene, fibre & pelvic floor exercises xxx

My 3rd degree tear, I had horrible constipation issues, but also a decent recovery. I got better at just 6 weeks. But for some reason.. the thing that was consistently making me afraid was just thinking of the tear. I always thought I'd get a first or second degree tear maximum. 3rd and 4th was never in my mind and just looking at Google animation images of how big the tear is, brings me a great deal of anxiety. For many months, it kept scaring me. I always think if I get pregnant again, give labour, I'd get another 3rd degree tear which I don't want. I also got an episootomty which is horrible when I think of. At the time, they didn't give me a choice they just informed me they were doing one. I'm annoyed to as I have no one to relate to and no one else has had thia big of tear I know my sister with five kids had absolutely no tearing.

Me I had 3rd degree tear was so freaking painful and the pelvic floor felt so bad , I will star fissioteraphy next week , but for now I am doing keggels exercise after my 6 weeks green light . Now I am week seven . What I did , I never sat I was always on one side or The other and I was eating on my knees. Now the stiches are gone but I still feel sensitive if I sit . So I prefer to avoid sitting if I can , and if I do it only
For few minutes . I also go to the bathroom stand.

I’m 15 months PP and it all feels like a blur now but I wanna say the stitches dissolved between 3-4 weeks. I did experience finding loose threads but apparently that was normal. In terms of the pain, that went on for 3-4 months & I was consistently taking pain killers to manage it x
