    C Section Recovery after Surgery
Recovering from a surgery like a caesarean is not a simple process. There are a lot of layers including connective tissue, abdominals and skin that are stitched back up and need to be healed.

A Week by Week Guide to Recovery After C-Section
C Section Recovery Tips and Care
Rest where you can. It's easier said than done, but it's important more than you know. Now is not the time to say 'I feel good' and get moving as much as you can. That time will come. For now, your wound and your pelvic floor (and your entire body!) needs you to rest.
Aim to log roll to get out of bed. This will help to reduce any unnecessary pressure on your incisions We like to call it the 'log roll out of bed.'
Ask your Doctor questions. When it comes to your wound healing, no question is silly. Your doctor should give you the time, so make the call. Ask the question. Feel reassured. Never be scared to ask questions, especially when it comes to your health.
Remember that common is not necessarily normal. If things feel painful or don't feel right, you need to ask your doctor or midwife. If you ask another woman and she experienced the same, but didn't do anything about it, doesn't mean you do nothing. If it doesn't feel right, ask.
Supporting the wound when you cough, sneeze or laugh use a pillow or a rolled up towel to help, so always have one on hand.
Do not lift too heavy. The weight of your baby is the most you should be lifting right now. Try your best to move your house around so that you are not lowering too low, nor lifting too high.
Everything should be at an easy height for you at the moment.
Especially when changing your baby - as you'll be doing this quite a lot!
Numbness is different for every woman. Take note of how it feels for you. The numbness will most likely fade soon enough, but this is a topic to discuss with your doctor.
Pelvic floor is part of your recovery post c-section delivery. For some reason there's a myth out there that having a c-section means you don't need to worry about pelvic floor exercises post-birth.
    WRONG.
The weight of your baby in your pregnancy pressing down on to your pelvic floor means that, despite your delivery mode, you need to focus on your pelvic floor postpartum. For full details, follow my Core Rehab program.

P.s. a planned c section is easier than one that is an emergency. I had a planned one last year and it was not scary I was just sad that I couldn’t give birth vaginally which was what I wanted. This year I had an emergency one because I went into labor before my plan C-section date and it was really hard for me because I was contracting very closely like a minute to two minutes apart and and they wanted me to move quickly pretty much and it was hard. The reason I had him in emergency C-section last year was because supposedly my pelvis was too small and my son got stuck for about five hours so they had to do an emergency C-section and this year I was in labor and I didn’t even know I was about 6 cm and they quickly got me ready for a C-section because I didn’t want the same thing to happen last year and my son has a scar around his head

The body is incredible, and the way it adapts and changes. The healing process is big from a c-section and your body is working out the best way. If you have concerns, it's best to speak to your doctor or midwife and they can analyze your individual situation. But a numbing sensation can last for a very long time if that's what you are feeling?

Hi there, thanks for the video.
I gave birth via C-section on July 2nd, 2022. I am about 7 weeks post partum and I’ve been going to the gym 9 days now. I’m taking it slow I’m starting with slow inclined walking for 30 mins a day and strength training but very light weights 5 lbs and below. When I gave birth I was 221 and I am 5’3 I started breastfeeding and dropped down to 203. My pre pregnancy weight was 184 but I really want to get down to 154 which was my weight before the pandemic. I stopped breastfeeding after one month and notice that I feel starving all the time. My weight fluctuates between 206-210 and I also had the iud implanted on August 11th. Are all these changes affecting my weight? I never had trouble losing weight especially with exercise but this time it’s not burning off like before. I had another baby last year so it’s back to back pregnancies and both cesarean births. I know it was a lot for my body but I’m ready to get back to my healthy self again.

You are doing great Jennifer, and from one mother to another I will tell you this.. STRESS has a huge impact on your weight and recovery postpartum. Focusing on the numbers and putting pressure on yourself is not going to help. Trust me. I have a small gap between my two boys too and it's a lot on the body, especially second time around. Hormones play a big part too, and they are also impacted by stress. So breathe deep, and look into the future a couple of months from now and if you see yourself obsessed with the weight you are, then shift that focus. You will get to where you want to be, trust me. But you need to do it the right way. Check out my Core Rehab program for all the details and step by step guidance. PregActive.com

A C-section is major abdominal surgery, and your body needs time (probably more than you realize) to fully heal. Otherwise, you could be at a higher risk for: Uterine rupture. Basically, the longer you wait, the lower your risk of rupture.

I just had my second c section. My son is 16 months and I just delivered my daughter cesarean 3days ago and by Monday I am going to have both my babies full time. I’m very worried because my son I can’t even barely pick up, he is 30lbs and he wants held constantly and doing much of anything on the floor or just playing with him hurts. Is it safe for me to be picking him up after a week? Or to really be looking after him at this point? I just feel like I’m unable to give him what he needs. I’d really appreciate a reply I feel a lot of pressure from other people kinda underestimating the pain and recovery of a cesarean and I know I’m a strong person and can work through pain but it’s not just pain I feel completely unable to do certain things right now.

I’m almost in the same boat as you!! 16 month old son and new baby boy born by C Section (again) on 14th Aug. I know for a fact I’m nowhere near ready to mind my toddler full time yet. I’m just not fast enough on my feet yet to swoop in and grab him if he is about to fall. I tried lifting him into his car seat today (6 days pp) and though I could do it I think it’s exactly the ‘limit pushing’ that is not recommended in this video. Wishing you all the best in your recovery and with your Two under Two :)

    • @PregActive
      @PregActive  9 місяців тому +3

Hi lovely Vanessa, sorry for my delay in getting back to you. At no point should you feel pressured by others. Do what is best for you, remember that. It’s so hard with a toddler when you are recovering post-birth. My son was 22 months when my second was born. Try your best to be seated when they want a cuddle. Set up so they can climb up to you. The couch is great for this. Toddler towers are also great as your toddler can come up to your level when at the kitchen bench. There are lots of little tricks like this, because yet, picking up a toddler is too wavy for you right now. It’s so hard. This time will pass, but do what you can to minimise it. Just for now. The couch or your bed is a good option for toddler to be on and you to be on. And snacks and little play activities are great to help keep the day moving along.. because some days feel long. I get you. I’m here for you. Keep me posted on how you are going ❤️ Kerryn

hello there i was in the same boat as you.. my daughter was also breech & i tried everything to try to turn her over but eventually ended up giving up since it was always a fail. eventually 2 days before my scheduled c section we did an ultra sound one last time & she was finally head down! i was so shocked & happy it had finally happened but now they were still wanting to keep me for a c section because apparently she was too big. she was weighing about 9 pounds which is what my son weighed & i had him vaginally but they were saying she could get stuck so they recommended the c section to avoid having an emergency one later on. i eventually agreed to just have it but i was also really scared i cried minutes before having it and just broke down that i had to call a family member to calm me down. i had it & my daughter is here with me & im barely on my 3rd day post & i can definitely say this just hurt more than my vaginal with a 4th degree tear. i’m hoping this recovery journey doesn’t take too too long either but overall i wish you the best of luck & i’ll be sending prayers your way for everything to turn out amazing! ❤️🙏🏽

How long since you had baby? It’s always worth getting a second opinion, seeing a women’s health physiotherapist is a really good option postpartum.

Absolutely not while breastfeeding, get doctor clearance before getting onto such. Good luck and be kind to your body.

If you don't like her videos then you can find others ,but no need to leave rude comments. It's her channel it's her video and she does it however she wants!

I think it would be helpful if you broke down the subjects you’re covering with time stamps and titles in the video . Also speaking really slowly is good for clarity but it gets monotonous and hard to follow for a longer video where I don’t know what you even plan on covering

@@PregActiveThe ‘too much speaking’ feedback is not worth taking on. All UA-cam videos include talking. The audience can choose patience or fwd videos. You are a very good speaker and you have a lovely speaking voice that is comforting. I could listen to hours of you speaking, From a teacher xxx

I think this feedback is more related to the pace of the speech. It was hard for me to keep track and pay attention. Maybe subtitles can help.
