    I just bought this exact thermostat. My old t-stat is a mercury seitch from the 80s. Its a heat/cool/em heat heat pump unit. On mine the brown wire goes to emergency heat. Your demo uses a jumper. Does that apply to my situation as well? I iust abandon the brown wire?

    Thank you..Excellent video....Am having the intermittent problem of air handler continues to run after compressor shuts off.
    Took some V measurements while in the fail mode..At the air handler:
    Air Handler.Terminal strip.
    Note: All voltage measurements taken to unit ground wire.
    1. Red Wire...27.74 vac
    2.Green Wire ...27.4 vdc
    3. Removed the blower connector
    and Fan stopped....ok
    4. Green and Red wires both still 27 Vac
    5. Removed the T'stat
    6. Green dropped to 11.3 vac and down to 10.7vac...did not drop to zero vac.
    Red increased a bit to 28.19 Vac.
    W 1,2,3 at 0.18vac
    Reinstalled the stat. Switched to off.
    Turneded the main power switch off and On for the unit..
    Waited 15 minutes.
    Placed the t'stat switch to cool.
    Unit functions normal for a few days.
    Re Read Red and Green after a few normal cycles and Green goes to basic zero at end of cooling cycle and blower stops normal.
    Thermostat suspected...Blower does stop when stat is removed during the fail mode.
    Thanks again for the excellent video!

    I have the exact same thermostat, for some reason after I put new batteries in mine it started acting up. If I set the AC to 78 the temperature would increase to 78 also even though the room temperature was only 72. It was causing the AC to stay on causing my house to get cold. I verified my room temperature with a separate thermometer. Time for a new one? Any suggestions? The batteries are installed correctly.

    I have a goodman heat pump split unit. The unit blows hot in heat mode. Outside temps range from 30 to 50 degrees F. But at night it blows cold around 1 and 4am. i place the unit to emergency heat for 20 seconds and then back to regular heat. Everything works fine after that. But this is every night. What could be the issue.

    When the aux heat comes on , why doesn't the compressor shut off? Doesn't make sense to run both.

    Hi, quick question I've been unable to find the answer to anywhere: When in cooling mode, once the target temperature is reached and the Y and G terminals are opened, does O stay closed/powered as long as the thermostat is in Cooling mode, or does O only close while Y is active and then open again when Y is opened? (Mainly I am wondering if it's bad for the reversing valve to reverse [back to heat, by default] before the pressure has equalized. I assume it will still operate/slide for a while after the pump has stopped, just due to residual pressure differential?)

    • @brandynwebb
      @brandynwebb 4 роки тому

      (Put more simply: Does the O line stay powered up all summer long while the thermostat slide is on Cool, or does it just power on when Y does?)

    You definitely sound like you know exactly what you are doing. Can you provide assistance? I have a Lennox Heat pump (Series XP14) and Air Handler (Merit CBX25UH) which I had installed to replace my original unit; I've since changed out my damper motors (Honeywell M847D) on both zone 1 and zone 2, my Zone Controlbox (HZ322), and thermostats (Ecobee 4). My wiring coming in from my Air handler to Zone Control Board is set at RC, Jumper on W2/E, O, Y1, and G. The Zone 1 (Downstairs) is wired R, C, W1/E, W2, Y1, G, O/B ; Zone 2 (Upstairs) is wired R, C, G, W1/E, and Y1. I cannot tell how the heat pump is wired; however I've had horrible experience out the entire setup (Cold in the winter, Hot in the summer), every maintenance person I've had, says everything is wired correctly, however in this video you say Y2 should be used. I cannot keep paying for someone to come out and tell me it's wired right, can you please help, Thanks!

    This will help me figure out which wire does what on my old mercury 1980s honeywell q674f 1220 thermostat. Its been kicking my butt, as half of the wire lettering doesn't match up with anything modern, and i can't find any info on it anywhere on the web! For example the c wire connector turns on the compressor 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Thank's for all this information. So helpfull. Have another question. Usually a TD on a furnace can be between
    18 to 22 degrees for an Air conditionning If i'm right. Do the TD would be about the same when it's on heating with a heat pump?

    • @acservicetechchannel

    When using this thermostat on a non heat pump system, in other words, just AC and heat strips, is it possible to wire it so the heat works on the regular heat setting, without turning on the compressor? I have it wired correctly, but my AC and heat run at the same time. The only way I can get just heat is to use the emergency heat setting.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  7 років тому

      You could try putting it in standard heat and ac mode and power the the heat strips with w but you would then need you would need to connect w and g in the air handler so the fan turns on. Make sure the airflow is set for the correct speed if there are dip switches or wire connectors for speed, thanks

    Acservicetech, How crucial is an analyzer for an Hvac tech? They price in about at 350. Is the tool worth it or optional? How often do you use it?

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  7 років тому

      A combustion analyzer is used to determine if there is a crack or clog in the heat exchanger, verify good combustion air, setup and adjust oil fired furnaces, and are used during a pm check of a heater. They typically price out 5-600 and for the kit with the printer 6-800, thanks Uei, Bacharach,, Testo

    • @acservicetechchannel

      I thought you were just talking combustion, ok. Honestly not really and you would also need all the attachment heads as well. As the employer, I would rather have the answers in my techs' head then in a machine that they have to rely on but I am only just one person, thanks!

    I got a buddy who bought the rth2410 thermostat for his heat pump at lowes different manuals I find are for the rth2510 and 2410 but they aren't the same cause the 2410 has no w/aux terminal all it has is a W terminal when he turns the heat the compressor isn't coming on only electric heat is working no heat pump i have went through the programing several times and made sure all the settings are right they are i just think the thermostat won't work for a heat pump. Has anyone else have any knowledge or experience with the honeywell rth2410.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  6 років тому

      If you are talking at your thermostat, if the thermostat dip switch is set to heat pump then you should only have voltage during cooling. To double check, make sure to take the o and disconnect it at the indoor unit. Then call for fan, heat, and cooling to see if you still have voltage. If you don't then you know your thermostat is good and it was backfeeding from somewhere. If you do have voltage the either the thermostat settings are really wrong if it is a newer thermostat or just bad especially if it is an old tstat, thanks

    Q: can we test with R instead C OR it doesn’t matter? I always though R is the one tou will be testing with. Thanks again

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  6 років тому

      R is power and you need to put the other probe on C or ground to read 24v on the multimeter. If you are going to jump wires then it is r to g for fan, r to y and g for cooling, and r to w for heat, thanks

    So, first check to make sure the thermostat is getting 24 volts from R (power) to C (common).
    IF the thermostat is calling, then you would expect to read 24 volts between the function (Y-cooling, for example) & the common.

  • @aaronclark1599
    @aaronclark1599 Рік тому

    Why would I be getting 24v to everything until I check the C to Y, then I only read 14v.
