sounds so sick! I drove a manual mk5 r32 in germany visiting a friend and man it's so fast.. but out here in carlsbad i found one for 9 grand at a dealer... thinking about getting..its dsg of courrse but still good car.
Hey man love the sound! The exhaust is cats to a after market resonator, to the rear dual muffler or just straight out from the resonator? This sounds just has good to me as the apr exhaust.

+Kenneth Wilson it still sounds nice. Get a high flow cat. I blacked out in my car and some strange opened the door then after a few minutes I woke up. I have full straight pipes with no cat, resonator or muffler. Be careful
+Kenneth Wilson even if you did a muffler delete and put straight pipe then its considered straight pipe a muffler delete is when you just cut the muffler off and leave it like that with out putting pipe extensions and tips

It would be nice to know how fast and/or how many RPMs you were cruising on the freeway and maybe even use a decibel meter in the car so I could more accurately gage how loud it would be cruising at high speed for several hours. It does sound awesome. Maybe I might try a cutout valve. Thank you for making the video.
Man im planning on getting one hopefully in a few years more the MKV R32 really grew on me even if its DSG only, currently own a Jetta GLI 24v VR6 6-Speed which i plan on keeping for a very long time.

Sounds almost as loud as my MKIV 12v did when I was running OBX stainless headers with straight pipes after the cat. Loudest damn car ever. And it was glorious. Now I'm running stock manifold, Techtonics downpipe/high flow cat and Magnaflow catback w/ resonator delete. Not as loud but it sounds much better.

Was your resonator Installed during this video? Because I did a resonator and muffler delete and I'm getting a major drone in the cabin, it's unbearable.

Pop them off and you will see that they are originally only reflectors. You can replace them with lights.

I did this to my 08 too. Had to put a muffler back in. It's actually the best compromise if you take out the resonator, and leave the flapper in the rear muffler hooked up. Has a nasty growl when you get on it, and stealthy on the highway. Cost me $40 at the exhaust shop to do it. I even had an electric exhaust cutout for a while. If you want ridiculous loud, a cutout is the way to go. Plus, it's not loud until you want it to be.
damn, thats a great idea..ima have to investigste that lol..the seems like a way better option. the drone can be hella annoying at times...atlease this way, it will be when i want like you said

If you remove the resonator and leave the valve in the rear muffler attached = golf 6R half line.
It sounds too much in the car and it's giving me a headache :-/
I will try with resonator original and remove the rear muffler.

Hey I have a mk5 R32 and am thinking of straight piping... Is there a so called "sweet spot", on your rpm's that makes the car a little quieter while passing police? ?? I really want to because I feel like the after market cat back takes away from the sound of the vr6.... thank you. Sounds amazing btw. Exactly what I'm looking for
Armand Salvini sup bro, thanks. i think that sweet spot probably would be around 2000 rpm, or just drive in automatic mode if you notice some cops in the area, or beside, or behind you. that's how i got caught up, some cop on a motorcycle was right behind me and i didnt even know it. but yeah, ide say at about 2000 - 2500 definitely

Deciding on getting a 08 r32 or a 04 m3 hmmmm both around the same price.
US market Mk5 R32's are or were all factory DSG. The guy saying it was because emissions is right. 2008 R32 had a manual trans standard in every other market including maybe Canada. DSG was an upgrade option (lol?). (Mk4's were available with DSG, European market only IIRC).
A friend of mine who passed last year was swapping a Mk5 Fahrenheit GTI to 6-spd, but the project got stalled due to parts availability problems. If I can pick it up reasonably, rebuilding it with an R drivetrain including the euro-market 6-spd might be fun. Mk5 R parts cars are easy to find with dead DSG's.
What muffler
LOVE IT....but much too loud for higher speeds than 65 mph like on the german Autobahn! :-/
I have the same set up in my Audi A3 3.2. Sounds great when you're in the mood with your foot down. But when you're not, the droning is unbearable. Also it uses a lot more fuel. If you have a VR6 as your daily, I wouldn't recommend taking all the mufflers out and certainly not a full decat.

Did you delete your muffler and resonator or just the muffler. I have an 07 VW Eos 3.2L and deleted the muffler and resonator but it doesn't sound the same time. Mine has less tone and just gets really obnoxious at around 4k then gets way quieter when you floor it. I wanna research the difference between our exhausts because I know they have to be very similar but yours sounds much better.
Spykey thanks! mufflers are deleted. and a resonator is installed. when i brought the car it came like that. i didnt do any of the work myself. in car noise can be overbearing sometimes, its hard to talk and listen to music sometimes, but, i love the sound over all.

I considered putting in an aftermarket resonator after I got my straight pipe done, now I think I actually want to do it. I like the tone of your car but also the fact that it's still loud, I feel like an aftermarket muffler would make it too quiet for me. Thanks for the help man

Just picked up my r so far I'm loving it I just have to get comfortable with the DSG . I find it little jumpy from starts Maybe it's just me
+iiRush100 no, its not just you man, my DSG is jumpy too. when i come out of reverse into drive in hit the gas, there is a 1.5 - 2.0 second delay before it even gets going. its also happens in normal drive mode as well.

I had a " muffler delete " with a resonator still on then I said hey let's put a magnaflow muffler instead of the res and guess what $100 just turned into $600 sound. No tips ofc but the rest is the same

He had that car in to low of a gear the whole time he was on the highway, 3:50 min on, this is how you blow motors. Driving 65 to 75 at 5000 rpm is defiantly not good for the motor
Dennis Bouma too much stress on the motor for a long period of time.
This motor will turn like 3k rpm at 70 even in 6th so its a little bit of the car too.
Why would you drive it like that (taking your foot off of the pedal as you shift)? That is how you ruin a DSG transmission. >:(

Luv the soundtrack. There are 4 VR6 sounds of the vr6, the 12v VR6, the 24v VR6 and the R32 3.2 VR6 and an the not so availible 2.9 VR6. I prefer the 24v howl over all as i listen to it everyday an highly doubt i will ever get tired of hearing that howl, these engines produce the best V6 noise i've heard IMO, I have a list for my fav exhaust notes. Anyone care to add in?

Horrible drivers in the USA. You never drive slow that way on the far left lane and you NEVER take over vehicles from the right lane like you do then switch to left lane.
You do when the slow drivers in the left later refuse to get out of the left lane. It has gotten worse. I pass more people via the right lane than I do the passing lane anymore.
Well it is illegal in Germany to overtake from the right lane and also to drive slow on it. And those 'assholes' not moving from the left lane are mostly from the Netherlands.
That's funny, in the Netherlands, we have many Germans driving over the left and sticking there.

This is nice car, easy for drive, with nice sound, but i drived automatic and manual volkswagen cars, and there's big diference between them.
Idk about american models but here in europe they have manual transmission with this model, very rare but they exist.
