I live in a small town, my neighbor always used to warmup his diesel car in the morning and fumes would get straight into our open window. It lasted for years. Now he got an electric vehicle and what a blessing, I can't even hear when he starts his car! 🙂😀
Yes, it is a blessing indeed. I too have many ICE sports cars and my neighbours complain when I start them early in the morning on a Saturday to go to the track cause they are noisy and wake up their kids. They too are glad I drive a daily Tesla now 😄
Stunning new design! Love the both front and rear-end changes! My kids REALLY want that rear-screen 🙂 The small-but-many design details inside looks to elevate it to a new experience
It's definitely more desirable than the previous model, I'm bummed I didn't wait a few more months to get this newer model. Don't forget to use my referral code (link in description) for a €250 discount if you decide to order yours.
@@RD-yv4cc you need to use a referral link like the one in this video description when ordering your car in the configurator, they change the offerings from time to time what you get for free, sometimes you get supercharger miles or enhanced autopilot for 3 months or a £100 discount. Once you've taken delivery it is too late, but you should be able to ask them to apply the referral code to your order before delivery.
Best video I have seen of RWD Highland vs. previous model. A bit too much screen fiddling while driving though - you could demonstrate a lot of that while stationary.
@@DutchmanSebI understand that you can get used to it but how is it an improvement if you can not indicate when getting out of roundabouts for example? I test dove one and it’s fine in most situations but roundabouts is definitely a problem.
@@stant.8570 yeah, I agree with the roundabouts. I think it's designed for FSD, when the car will automatically drive through a roundabout, you won't need to indicate cause the vehicle does this automatically.
I agree with you, removing the indicators is a minus for me. They should have not done that. I hope for the American release they will put back in the indicators.
@@willielarsson9651 it's very deep yes, but putting large objects that require a hatchback is challenging since the opening is restricted by the height. You can fit a mountain bike with the seats flat of course.
I thought so too about the indicators, until I decided to consolidate on 'top-top' for 3rd or 4th exit on roundabout. Indicate right (top) (I am left side of road driver where i live) and then when the wheel is turned, press top (left upside down) again, and removed all worries. for 1st and straight through exit, it is only left indicator (left side drive btw for me), so works out with no issues.
No regen on a Tesla is pointless because the vehicle doesn't do blended braking. Meaning the brake pedal ONLY activates the friction brakes. Other manufacturers have the brake pedal do both so you can still "coast" and slow down with re-gen using the brake pedal.
@@zoltrix7779 correct, the friction brake is as you say blended when you release the accelerator pedal. The brake pedal does activate the friction brakes, but there is also regen as well. They have removed the option to turn off regen, so it is always there now.

Few questions: 1 - How do the default 18'' rims look like without the covers together with the ultra red colorway? 2 - In the video you've said that you could adjust the power of the regenerative breaking. I thought Tesla changed this making you not able to adjust this? I for one prefer less regenerative braking in EVs. 3 - Can you still use the Tesla app to look through the camera's on the car? 4 - Is the ambient lighting annoying in daylight driving? I've heard its really visible during daytime effectively cutting the front window in half, but from your video it seems over exaggerated?
Hey there, here's the answers: 1 - check out my comparison video review, I remove the wheel caps to show you what the wheels look like underneath. 2 - Correct, this feature was removed by Tesla some time ago already, you have 3 options now. Roll (coast), stop (full regen) and creep (works like a regular automatic ICE with some regen). 3 - Yes, of course. Sentry mode recently had an update now which allows you to look through all 8 cameras via the mobile app. 4 - I could hardly even notice the ambient lighting in daylight, so that is BS.
You can move the driver's seat up two inches to provide more room for the back seat passenger and still have substantial leg room for the driver's seat.
@@DutchmanSeb I just checked again today and when I put it in JOE MODE, turn signal, gear change, no seatbelt, etc. warning sound all become more subdued. As the driver, I can hear a distinct difference!

@@DutchmanSeb Well, I don't have kids anyway! When I first bought the car, one of the first things I did was put in JOE MODE as I had already read about it and other preferred settings. On the last software update, I figured JOE MODE had got turned off so when I went to do an errand, this loud racket ensued which made me pull over and reset the software. After being in the soft setting since I got it, I found the noise really distracting. I'm located where Tesla started in California and am pretty upset about the Highland update not being available. Great review! Quick question on the seat control from rear screen. If someone is sitting in the front passenger seat, would you still be able to control the seat from the back? Thanks in advance.
Hey there, no I don't believe you can control the front seat from the rear no, would be a nice prank though for your kids to have fun with if it did haha.
Great video Seb! I got tempted so went to the website to configure a Highland. Keep up the good stuff! Btw why not share your referral code so the audience could benefit from using yours?
Yes, correct. All the test vehicles from Tesla have the FSD enabled. But these features, at least in Europe are only legislated to be allowed on Controlled access roadways, ie. Highways.
Is the headliner foam backed like early Model 3 and current S/X or still feel very hard to the touch like it's fabric directly adhered to hard plastic with no foam between? Hopefully that run-on sentence made sense. Thanks!
The new car is an improvement for sure. I dislike that you need to order the LR to get the alcantara door inserts. The really missed out by not changing the roof lining to black. I'll be waiting to see what Enhance Auto can do about stalks though. No USS and still no front camera is also a pain. No glass roof shade still.
That's not entirely true, there's no difference in the door cards between the RWD and the LR AWD. The standard RWD also has Alcantara door cards with the standard black interior included that I show in the video. The white interior however has a vegan leather door card. Enhance Auto pilot just means on highways the car will make auto lane changes, so you don't need to use the stalks for indicating. Honestly you don't need USS and there are 3 front facing cameras, I think you are referring to the radar? This has been removed from all models and won't be returning, due to the performance from the camera alone being better. The glass roof shade is an item you can purchase via the shop.
Just an update on this, my previous RWD 2023 model 3 has Alcantara door cards, but the highland model is no longer Alcantara, but actually a fabric material.
Haha, thanks much appreciated. I'm not particularly new at making test reviews, I've been doing so since 2016, but it's taken me a lot of practice to get used to talking on camera. Thanks for the support.
Would you mind explaining me how to remove the one pedal drive on this new model 3 (highland)??? 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I’d appreciate it very very much, thanks anyone who can help.
Should be under car controls pedals and steering, you can turn it off, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it has been designed to increase driving range by maximizing the regeneration and also helps to reduce your brake wear. Try to get accustomed to it first before disabling it. I'm so used to it now, it's a completely different way of driving and actually helps you to maintain a good safe following distance.
Great comparison review! I feel the Highland dropped some of its “polarising” features like the frog face front and wood trim, which gave character to the model and made it distinctive. It’s more generic now, but less offensive as a result
@@marcelofernandez2747 Thank you Marcel. I actually made another side-by-side comparison video of the Highland model vs previous model 3 if you're interested. I think the design language of the Highland model 3 is more in-line with their 3rd generation platforms.
And what about the audio setup? Is it ok-ish? I had test driven long range with premium interior as the lfp rwd was already taken, but I wanted to know if it's really such a massive difference or should I just assume 'its just a car stereo' and be ok with it?
I have the non premium sound system and to be honest it's better than any other sound system I've ever tested including fancy Bang & Olufsen or Bowers & Wilkons and I've tested A LOT of cars over the year's. My wife often plays her music at 11 in our RWD Model 3 and she says it's the best speakers she's ever had in her cars too. I would love to have the AWD with the premium interior just cause of the extra subwoofers, but you honestly don't need it. This new setup however is levels above the previous version, it's crystal clear quality and nice deep base.
@@DutchmanSeb Seb, thank you so much! Thanks to You, I will order RWD with no hesitation. Hi Yossko, I actually did not do a comparison on consumption, but considering the battery and the electric motors are the same, these should be on par, with the lower drag coefficient in the Highland model, at highway speeds, you should experience less drag, giving you a better consumption and that's why it also has a longer stated range.
You're welcome, Tesla has their own insurance through a provider called Qover (Tesla insurance). I pay €108 p/m for full cover WA Casco within the 3 year new car price guarantee.
Great vid. Assume its still HW3 and older 2MP cameras (unlike US Modek Ys).? Are cooled sears just driven from ambient air in the car, or is there a tube to the a/c (possibly a new octovalve)?
Good question, not sure how the seats are cooled, usually this comes through the A/C, yes still the HW3, not sure about the cameras, I did notice that the rear and side repeaters were larger in diameter and had higher quality than my previous model.
@@stant.8570 I guess you could call it 3.5 cause yeah they all have FSD computers for a while now, even my previous model 3 from 2023 has an FSD computer, but these are definitely higher def cameras than what mine has.

I believe this is only in Europe, if you look at the US order page for example, there is a blue indicator icon that no home charging equipment is included.
Good video, removing those stalks will prove to be a huge mistake in the UK where we have thousands of roundabouts and you need to indicate whist turning the wheel or while the wheel is turned. Sounds like this car was designed by someone in USA. 🤔
Put a triple-thick piece of velcro around the wheel at the 9 o'clock position so you can find where the signals are by feel and won't need to take eyes off road.
Where are you based? If you're in EU, then I'd say yes the enhanced autopilot is worth it cause you will get navigate on autopilot for highways and auto park plus stop sign and traffic light recognition.
@@DutchmanSeb I'm in the UK so it might be interesting how much it can handle. Currently it's not even keeping it within the lane markings on the motorway but that might be part of the enhanced experience only?
@@RD-yv4cc I don't think you've enabled it then 😂 Go to car controls -> Autopilot and then enable auto-steer, you'll need to read and agree to the disclaimer terms. Double pull down on the drive stalk (right stalk) to activate auto-steer, the icon should now turn blue and show you two blue lane line markings on your screen plus an audible alert, your car will now use autopilot. If you've ordered Enhanced autopilot then if you enter a navigation route, on highways (controlled access roads) it will also change lanes for you. You can also configure these settings on how aggressive you want it to make lane changes in your autopilot menu settings. Out of curiosity, would you say the SR is enough in terms of power and especially range? Anything that you can tell me, from your experience, to help me decide if it’s worth paying 8k extra for the LR?
Depends entirely on your daily commute and what your needs are for a car. I drive 52km each way to work each day, a total of 102km. So, I charge at work and at home once every 4 days. On the weekends we go out for walks with the dogs and do around an hours drive each way somewhere nice, I never need to stop to charge. Occasionally we go away for a long weekend, some 4 hours drive, we charge at our destination or use the Tesla Supercharger along the way to top up for 15-20min to make it home again. 95% of my charging is at home, during off peak hours and it costs me around €120 a month to drive 3,500km. For me the standard range rear wheel drive is more than enough. I also own 4 90's JDM sports cars, one of which is a 650hp Supra and my RWD Tesla is still faster.
Is niet zo laag, geen probleem met drempels, ik heb ook een vrije groot drempel in mijn straat en geen last van. Is alleen laag om erin in uit te stappen als je wat ouder bent.
Do you feel it has enough power? (I'm coming from a 400hp petrol engine so I'm afraid I will feel the RWD model to be too underpowered and I don't really need the LR)
I own a 650hp Supra, so yes I know what you're talking about, yes you feel it has plenty of power, the response is instant and it pulls all the way to 200km/h no one keeps up with you. Off the line it beats my Supra. You can check out my Supra videos on my channel if you're interested.
You know you can get any discounted model ordered directly from tesla with less than 4k down payment and a total no more than 20 grand with a ref code.
Can someone explain how this models differs from the AWD long-range? Is the long range AWD a better and faster ride? How much increased range do you get? How does the ride compare to the standard range RWD?
Hi Waleed, the ride is no different in terms of suspension and ride feel. The difference is the AWD has a larger battery pack with a front electric motor in addition to the rear motor, thus All Wheel Drive, which gives you more performance in terms of faster acceleration and cornering handling due to the torque vectoring where it distributes more power to the inside wheels in a turn to prevent understeer. The range increase you can see on Tesla's website states in WLTP in Europe or in EPA rating in the US. I believe there is also a different battery chemistry in the long range versions, as the standard RWD has an LFP chemistry which you can charge to 100% all the time, which also allows you to have more usable range.
@@DutchmanSebI am a Uber driver, and I’m renting a Tesla through them. I am seriously considering the Highland for my work. Which do you think is better? You stated that I will have more usable range with the standard option. However, how much could I effectively use with the long range? And what is the EPA for both?
@@waleedabdulrab8779 Hey Waleed, it's hard to say for the US market, as Tesla have yet to launch it in the US, so there's no guarantee it will be the same battery chemistry either. My best guess is that Tesla will upgrade their Fremont Model 3 production line to launch the Highland to NA, which means they will most likely be getting batteries from their Giga Nevada plant supplied by Panasonic in the form of their 2170 cells or they might even have ramped up the 4680 cells by then to support this release, so there are a lot of unknowns. These European models come from the Shanghai giga factory which uses the LG Chem LFP battery chemistry, which means you should charge them regularly to 100%, unlike the chemistry in NA with the cobalt and nickel content that only like to be charged to 80%. Here the Long range AWD is advertised with 629km which is equivalent to 393mi of range, I know the EPA ratings are slightly less conservative, so they'll probably be around 400mi. The RWD is advertised here as having 513km which is around 320mi. So 80% of 400mi in the long range would actually be 320mi of daily usable range, of course you can charge to 100% on the long range, they just don't recommend this on a daily basis, so all in all the Long range would still be the better choice if you can afford the increased price differences.
Wait in Europe you get a type 2 cable, mobile connector and road kit included!? Unless highland changes things, in Aus we don’t get any of that included!
Yes here always. Cause all the public 3rd party chargers are Type 2 or at least that was the original standard in Europe until recently the European standard became the horrible CCS connector. I wish we had the sexy NACS connector. The roadside assistance bag is also mandatory with EU laws, so i guess in Australia it's not mandatory.
@@laggmonstret Those are thick expensive cables to carry 32A per phase, plus the connectors aren't cheap. In Australia Tesla charge A$320 (€190) for the 7m cable, and A$550 (€330) for the mobile connector which comes with two (10A and 15A) tails.
Please do a review on the quietness of the new model3 and also please do a review on the sound system of the model 3 as us Americans dont have it in the states i will subscribe to your channel and wait for your reviews
Hey Scott, I did a comparison at 24:00 with the sound of my 2023 Model 3 at the end of the video, you can even hear the difference in the video of the wind noise, the new Highland model is much quieter, noticeably so. I don't have a measuring device, but I did see on Matt Watson's Carwow he used an app on his phone and there was a difference of around 5db. Also due to UA-cam, I can't play music otherwise I get copyright strikes, so not sure how to demonstrate the sound system, but it is considerably better and more clarity with better base.
Not enough improvements and the redesign just looks strange. Looks like the front and rear bumpers were photoshopped onto a 2023 Model 3. I'm waiting for a proper resdesign that includes new battery pack and motors. 800v battery pack and 48v accessories like Cybertruck.
You might be waiting a long time then. That's not going to happen to this platform. Also they say 50% of this car is new, so underneath a lot has changed, the most noticeable is the ride comfort and sound insulation. The 1000v powertrain launched into the Semi truck will not be trickling it's way down to small sedans. There may be an 800v architecture in the Cybertruck, but that is not confirmed, also the 48v accessories does not make any difference to the user, only uses thinner wires, so saves some weight on cable management. If you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll miss driving the current best thing. We're never buying any other car again.
Yet another review avoiding the only remaining question everybody has. Yes, we know it is nice and improved in almost every way. And no stalks. The only thing Tesla is keeping quiet about that all reviewers have easy access to. All of them ignore it, so I feel slightly bad complaining under this lovely man's video, but I guess the algorithm likes it, so it's all good. One of the major problems with the old model 3 has presumably been redesigned and every reviewer is completely clueless about it, so it looks like I will just have to find a Tesla showroom, borrow a vehicle and find out myself. What has happened with the cabin air filter situation? Do they still get full of wet leaves that start to smell in the wrong conditions? Does it have high capacity hepa filters or similar filters as before? Bioweapon defense mode? Do you have to sign an agreement not to talk about it?
Sorry I never came across this issue before, nor is there any information around this cabin filter you mentioned. If you know more information, I'd love to learn about it and make a new video to bring awareness. We don't sign anything not to talk about issues. I personally own a Model 3 and I keep my car clear of leaves everyday here in autumn, something I also do to my 4 other cara too (90's JDM's) and something you should do regularly on any car anyways as part of cleaning. So not sure this issue is only related to the Model 3, since I have leaves in my cabin filters in all my cars. There's no mention of any HEPA filters on the website, also there was no bioweapon defense mode in the A/C menu.
@@DutchmanSeb Thanks! The issue on the original model 3 is that under the grille you can see when you open the hood, there is a funnel guiding the air down to the cabin air filters. This funnel can collect leaves. If some drops of water enters, it can drip out the bottom. But if more water comes in (heavy rain or car wash) the water will take the leaves and debris and slosh it straight onto the back of the cabin air filters. Soggy air filters are bad. Adam Davenport has a video that shows this. Model Y has a different design. The new model 3 probably has yet another different design, but as you see, Tesla does not talk about it. So a comparison of those three designs would be interesting for a few car nerds. :)

@@DutchmanSeb Some people have recurring problems with smelly Model 3s, some people never have any problems. I park near birch trees, so there are tiny leaves everywhere.

Hi Alan, I explained this to someone else in another comment earlier. Yes, manufacturers release different year models ahead of the new year to secure worker's jobs, that doesn't mean your vehicle registration year is not 2023, merely the model year. This can take place as early as Jan 2nd 2023 until 31st Dec 2024 in the following year and still be considered as a 2024 model year release. The turn stalk indicator seems pretty devisive. As an American I'm glad to see them go and enjoyed being stalkless when I rented a Model S. We Americans dont use our turn signals in round abouts for some reason so it's no issue here.
@@DutchmanSeb I think officially it's not prepped with special grip which is not needed for a normal car and then take average in both directions. just so people know if comparing acceleration between new and old model
@@RUNDMC-555 sure, agreed. In this instance I merely did a real world comparison using any piece of road not needing to run both directions and averaging them. There are no advertised differences in the performance figures by Tesla. Also different tyre compounds are used on both cars.
Those indicators would drive me insane. Practically impossible to indicate properly on roundabouts and some other maneuvers. The EU should really mandate fixed position physical controls for that kind of thing.
Haha, I think you're over exaggerating just a tad, it's not impossible it just takes getting used to, like all new things, you need time to adjust pretty soon everyone else will follow suit.
@@DutchmanSeb I suspect most car manufacturers will not move away from physical Stalks behind the wheel like all cars for how many years now? Tesla does their own thing solving non existent problems. You shouldn't have to relearn where basic controls are in a car. This stuff is standard.
Gonna be honest. It looks like every iteration Tesla gives less and less and less and the blurb makes it sound like more. Prefer your previous model frankly.
That's not factually correct I'm afraid, they removed stalks and the rear centre seat heating only 🤣 don't exaggerate please 😊 Extra's: Double pane glass in the rear, rear passenger screen, front ventilated seats, additional sound bar in the cross member, plus entirely new sound system all around, including new speakers on the dash under the air vents, larger higher definition camera's, the backup camera is a huge improvement, new front and rear design (far more aggressive and sexy), additional storage in the trunk on the right side, added crash bars on the doors, pedestrian crash protection on the hood, new wheel and aero cap designs. I'm sure I've missed a few. But they are definitely not giving less car, all this for the same price (in fact €2,000 cheaper) than what I paid for mine (I'm quite annoyed at that actually 😆). I'm still happy with my previous model, but man I wish I had waited 7 more months to order and get this new one.
@@DutchmanSeb the only issue i see is roundabouts. its more simple to flick a stalk down to indiate youre leaving, with this you might have to look down at the wheel to press a button.

@@DutchmanSebBut it is very bad and Tesla now became a hard pass for me after I tried it. This is maybe a first for me to actually wish EU would ban this ;)
@@DutchmanSeb There will be the need of human interaction for at least 15 years more since not all can afford or want to move to electric fast enough. And as long as there's humans on the roads self driving cars will never be safe enough because humans are unpredictable ^^
People: we need a new screen in front of the driver Tesla Ilogic: they add a new screen, for the people in the back. and redesign the front dash so aftermarket screen accessories cannot be installed anymore
You don't need a screen Infront of the steering wheel, the centre screen is so close to your field of view, you never have to look down at a dash, also the new dash design won't change any aftermarket accessories to fit. The screen in the back for kids is a way more efficient upgrade for families with kids.

14.58 the best part is no part. They took out the center heat and took away stalks thats all good... put it on screen. This is corporate cost cutting every milligram of cost cutting. Its nothing to do wit end user experience. Nothing to be celebrated. Zero controls just a wheel and a large screen. Guarantee they will remove all wheel buttons if they could. Watch this space. Cost cutting
@patmanrick I think fully way through the production cost cutting is solely for share holder value charts not for customer value ad. There's far more luxurious vehicles in this price bracket without the spartan compromise. Very disappointing its Apple all over again and people Will fall for it. Because they're being sold.... a clean look. Which translates to user experience compromise.
@@listerthat which more luxurious BEV can you buy for under £40k? Genuine question. Also, if cost cutting is just for shareholders, then why has the price of the Tesla Model 3 fallen so much in the past 2 years or so? If costs don't come down then there is a floor on prices so when consumers require cheaper cars due to cost on home finances, like now, companies who haven't reduced cost structures simply go bust, which is what we're about to see with lots of the new entrants to the BEV market like Lucid and Fisker.
@patmanrick bumping sales numbers for shareholders drive its not rocket science it can be loss making. That's the point. Byd seal slates it on most metrics exception of motor efficiency. I don't expect a middle of the road analysis on this though. The reality is price drops are primarily for quarterly shareholder calls. Numbers game
@@listerthat a company in a capital intensive business like making cars cannot be lossmaking for that long when interest rates are above the historic lows we've had over the past decade, it will go bankrupt. Your comment about the BYD intregued me, so I had a quick look on EV database for the specs and had a look at the features etc for the new Model 3 vs the BYD Seal and whilst the BYD seems like a good car, the new Tesla does seem to have the edge. The Tesla: - costs nearly £6k less - has very similar range 344 miles WLTP vs 354 miles for BYD and similar acceleration 6.1 sec 0-60 vs 5.9 for BYD, Tesla slightly higher top speed at 125mph vs 112mph for BYD - is much more efficient (acheives range with 60kWh pack vs 84kWh for BYD) - charges much faster (27 mins 10-80% vs 38 mins for BYD) - has more rear storage 594L vs 400L for BYD and a bigger frunk - has heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, vs just heated front seats in BYD - has rear passenger screen for climate controls and entertainment - has access to all Tesla superchargers - has better safety scores in all the NCAP tests - better software (somewhat subjective but most people agree on this) The BYD has strong points too, dont get me wrong - indicator stalks might be on the wrong side, but at least it has them and although the new Tesla looks much better than before, some will prefer this. Also the parking sensors and rain sensors actually work properly on the BYD! Plus I suspect that BYD will get more real world range, although with the slower charging the Tesla is still probably a better road tripper so maybe this nets out. But for £6k more than the Tesla, given all the ways the Tesla is better, I'm just not sure i could justify getting one. Will need to test drive them both back to back.

Fair point, I noticed afterwards that option was removed. Thanks for pointing it out
No regen on a Tesla is pointless because the vehicle doesn't do blended braking.

Thanks so much, it also helps that I used to work at Tesla the past 5 years 😆
Few questions:
1 - How do the default 18'' rims look like without the covers together with the ultra red colorway?
2 - In the video you've said that you could adjust the power of the regenerative breaking. I thought Tesla changed this making you not able to adjust this? I for one prefer less regenerative braking in EVs.
3 - Can you still use the Tesla app to look through the camera's on the car?
4 - Is the ambient lighting annoying in daylight driving? I've heard its really visible during daytime effectively cutting the front window in half, but from your video it seems over exaggerated?
Hey there, here's the answers:
1 - check out my comparison video review, I remove the wheel caps to show you what the wheels look like underneath.
Yes, of course I do that too when I have rear passengers, the leg room is sufficient. I was just comparing with my regular seating position.

Auto lanes changes only work on the enhanced Autopilot. Not the standard Autopilot that comes with the car.
Thanks!
I dare not say I tried to feel the headliner. I will investigate and come back to you asap.

Standard RWD with LFP battery seems the way to go. Can charge to 100 percent with more charge cycles and less degradation imo. Plus it’s cheaper.

Yes here always. Cause all the public 3rd party chargers are Type 2 or at least that was the original standard in Europe until recently the European standard became the horrible CCS connector.
It has great design!
Yessir, agreed
@@geirmyrvagnes8718 got it, I never knew about this and to be honest not had any issues with my previous model, do you know which year model's were prone to this issue? I'm going to quickly go check my car now to see if it still has what you referring to.

it's not 2024, it's a Tesla November 2023
Hi Alan, I explained this to someone else in another comment earlier. Yes, manufacturers release different year models ahead of the new year to secure worker's jobs, that doesn't mean your vehicle registration year is not 2023, merely the model year. This can take place as early as Jan 2nd 2023 until 31st Dec 2024 in the following year and still be considered as a 2024 model year release.

However if you compare with the number of people who actually use indicators on a roundabout, it is practically 0. @@DutchmanSebBut it is very bad and Tesla now became a hard pass for me after I tried it. This is maybe a first for me to actually wish EU would ban this ;)

People: we need a new screen in front of the driver
Tesla Ilogic: they add a new screen, for the people in the back. and redesign the front dash so aftermarket screen accessories cannot be installed anymore
You don't need a screen Infront of the steering wheel, the centre screen is so close to your field of view, you never have to look down at a dash, also the new dash design won't change any aftermarket accessories to fit. The screen in the back for kids is a way more efficient upgrade for families with kids.

@patmanrick I think fully way through the production cost cutting is solely for share holder value charts not for customer value ad. Also, if cost cutting is just for shareholders, then why has the price of the Tesla Model 3 fallen so much in the past 2 years or so? Your comment about the BYD intregued me, so I had a quick look on EV database for the specs and had a look at the features etc for the new Model 3 vs the BYD Seal and whilst the BYD seems like a good car, the new Tesla does seem to have the edge.
The Tesla:
- costs nearly £6k less
- has very similar range 344 miles WLTP vs 354 miles for BYD and similar acceleration 6.1 sec 0-60 vs 5.9 for BYD, Tesla slightly higher top speed at 125mph vs 112mph for BYD
- is much more efficient (acheives range with 60kWh pack vs 84kWh for BYD)
- charges much faster (27 mins 10-80% vs 38 mins for BYD)
- has more rear storage 594L vs 400L for BYD and a bigger frunk
- has heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, vs just heated front seats in BYD
- has rear passenger screen for climate controls and entertainment
- has access to all Tesla superchargers
- has better safety scores in all the NCAP tests
- better software (somewhat subjective but most people agree on this)
The BYD has strong points too, dont get me wrong - indicator stalks might be on the wrong side, but at least it has them and although the new Tesla looks much better than before, some will prefer this.
