@@saddlemenusa I just ordered one! This review sealed the deal. I was hesitant spending $800 for a seat, but after this review I couldn't wait any longer. Met you guys in Deadwood during Sturgis '21. Wife has one on her Dyna and loves it, and my stock '17 Ultra Limited seat hurts my ass! Hope I get it by my birthday in May before my trip to the Smoky Mountains!
Thanks for sharing this review. I'm considering the same seat for my 2012 Street Glide. But you mentioned the hearing option. I've only got one spare switch on my farring and was going to use it for my accent lights and/or Love Jugs fans. I ride all year and live in Nebraska and the cold doesn't really bother me as long as there's no ice or snow on the ground. I'll be 64 next month and I'd ride anywhere you wanted to go, anytime...
I tapped mine into the ignition line of the bike. Switch for the heat is built into the side of the seat itself. Wouldn’t need to take up room on your fairing.
My Road Sofa showed up yesterday. Took about 4 weeks from time of order. They had said 3-8 so that was good. I got a rider backrest, no heat and orange stitching on the diamond shape pattern. Beautiful seat! More comfortable already compared to my stock 2023 CVO SG seat. I put the Robert Becker lock on the back screw. The only small downside is they don’t provide the adjustment screw cover on the rider backrest anymore. I called them after it arrived. Doesn’t have the finished look to it. It is slightly higher as you mentioned. I’m 5’10” with a short inseam but not a huge deal. I did notice my inner thigh now rests on the cylinder heat shield with my feet on the ground due to the way the seat is cut but, I didn’t get to ride yet so we’ll see.
Takes a little getting used to. Found I needed just a slightly wider stance at a stop, but saved my back, butt, and sanity on long riding days. There’s a good 500 mile break in period so don’t judge it too quickly, but it is so worth it. They know what they’re doing. Odd they don’t have the little screw cover anymore.
This is by far the most comprehensive review of the saddlemen seat… I ordered mine about two weeks ago now and they said about 4 weeks so it’s halfway there… I got the nine heated option bcs I really don’t need the heat below I need my core warm and I have a heated coat for that… but I did as u said get the must have the BACKREST….lol but beautiful review and I look forward to the seat coming
Thanks for this review! I own a pursuit premium and did a 5,500 mile trip with 9 days of 8 hours or more seat time the stock seat on the pursuit premium took a while to break in and then was great, but this year I’m doing to trips of the same or greater distance and this review has really sold me.
Happy to help! I'm jealous - the pursuit is REALLY what I want eventually. This seat is the greatest investment I ever made in my life. Makes 10 hour days a breeze. I rode it from the east coast out to Sturgis, SD and back. Comfy the whole way. Worth its weight in gold!
@@MOTOBLADEI had a chieftain limited for 4 years and about 60,000 miles. It was a great bike. The pursuit/challenger is a great bike. Turn in is crisp and very responsive. Hopefully you’ll be on one soon!
Just received mine a week ago, almost 500 miles on it and did a 200 mile day on day 2 of ownership, and even without being broken in felt instantly better. It hasn’t been perfection, but hands down made me more confident about riding 800 miles to Biketoberfest.
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching! Just rode to Sturgis this year (videos on my channel). Out and back almost 5k miles. Couldn't have done it without that seat!
Great review! I’ve ordered my Road Sofa CF for my Harley Road Glide Special. I ordered on 12/8/21 and I learned that my seat went into production last week; I’ll probably have it by late January. This review confirms my decision. One question that went unanswered though is where is the review taking place? Looks like a gorgeous ride, rain notwithstanding…
Hi David! I live and ride in northern Vermont. Bikes are in the garage on battery tenders right now because there's 4 feet of snow on the ground. I try to film as much as I can during the good riding months. Glad you liked my review, and I hope you enjoy your Saddlemen Road Sofa as much as I have!

So, been looking at this and some others, but I think this sold me on it. The wife should be happy too. After 364 mile day she was very sore. I agree with everything you said, you do need to break the seat in when you first get it I was concerned when i first got mine but stuck with it and it got much better but it took at least 1k. I have 46K on mine now and it's still pretty much like new condition.
I’ve had mine ordered since mid April, they’re saying 6 week’s minimum. I have the roadmaster. Stick seat is the worst I’ve ever ridden. I’m really looking forward to getting it. Yes their website sucks. I didn’t replace the passenger backrest, so I opted for the white sticking on the roadsofa to match my backrest. Yes $1100 is a big investment, but if it’s as good as you say, I’m good.
I believe it was worth every penny. Changed my riding experience forever. I hope you enjoy yours just as much. Just remember not to judge it until after that break in period. After that it fit me (or maybe I fit it) like a glove! I think you'll love it. Thanks for watching. Ride safe brother!

I'd recommend looking into a WildAss seat cushion as well. Changed my life when riding. That on top of the Saddlemen and my rear is in pure comfort and bliss while riding!

That's the best looking after-market seat I've seen on a cruiser. Never heard of saddlemen before, but I'm checking them out now. Thanks for this review bro
I just ordered my road sofa LS (not heated). They said it would be about 8 weeks, I’m really excited about it especially after your review. I normally get terrible butt pain after 100 miles and it just won’t let up even with a stretch period. I have a 2020 Challenger and put out a video on occasion for fun, I will probably do some for the “break in” period on the seat.
MotoBlade, to get a Harley-Davidson bike, I will be looking to replace the seat with a Saddleman's road sofa seat before I take it off their lot! This is 7/15/'23 and it's been a minute since I saw a new video from you. 🏍️👍🦅😎 Doug
Great review. I just got the heated road sofa ls for my Street Glide Special and look forward to getting to ride with it. I have the San Diego customs on my Road King Special and it is awesome. I feature both of these bikes on my channel and do tips, tricks, rides, reviews and product installs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the seat. Ride safe 👍👊
I’m pretty late here, but another rider said that after awhile of riding you can feel the stitching like a stinging. They compared it to sitting on one of the old 80s early 90s lawn chair. Have you experienced any of that?
No sir. Rode this seat 4,000 miles round trip to Sturgis last year. 8+ hours a day out and back from the east coast. Never experienced anything like that.
I bought a Corbin for a street glide break in was longer but it fits like a glove , their lead time was a horrible but it was custom made I almost gave up , the seat on our Tri Glide is a Ultimate and the lead time and comfort was great , they also allow custom build , there’s a seat for every butt it’s only finding the one that you like ride safe
That is the key. Finding what works best for you. I have a Corbin on my Ninja 650 that I like very much. Whatever you can do to make yourself more comfortable and increase your riding time. Thanks for watching, ride safe!
Because the "back" of the drivers seat doesnt flex, you can see in the pictures of the seat how it comes straight up your lower back a couple inches, it makes you have better upright posture. I don't think it moved me any closer, but my arms are less fatigued because I no longer slouch. Hope that helps answer your question. Thanks for watching!
Just ordered one for my dark horse 2021..damn straight about an investment..lol I'm just common folk but my back is shot and I wasn't impressed with Indians factory seat..so this video was great for me to watch..thanks for the review!!!!
Since you have had this seat for quite some time I think you would be a good source for info. Let me give you a bit of background for why I am going to ask the questions that I do. I ride my bike everyday. Meaning that I don’t have a secondary vehicle. So I do ride everyday and there are times here in Florida we get rain and not just rain but downpours. Where I work we do have a place to park our bikes with an overhang so I wouldn’t be worried about it being there all day. The times of my concern and hope you would have an answer. There are times I get caught in the rain either on my way to work or home and it downpours. I do have a 50-60 minute ride either way. With the seat being perforated, my concern would be the seat taking in water while riding. Meaning inside the seat itself. Have you experienced this? If so how does it handle it?
I've left he bike outside in a downpour before. Came back, got on, and all I did was wipe the seat off. When I sat down, no water squished out, and the seat did not look or feel like it retained any water. To my best guess, that either means the perforations are just for looks and don't go through- or it drains out easily. I think they are just for looks. The seat is also gel-core tech from saddlemen, not foam, so it would not absorb water. I wish I could give you a better, more concrete answer, but I can only give you my best guess on that and tell you based on my experience with one or two rainstorms, the seat retained zero water. Hope that helps in some way!
How’s the seat look when you take out the back rest I seen the leather when ppl removed it be all folded and dented after using the backrest for awhile , does it go back to normal ? Or do you alwyas just keep the back rest on ?
I always keep the back rest on it, except when the honey is on the back. Easier for her to get on and off so I take it out when she rides with me. I always look at the slot and make sure it's clean and I don't notice it being spread or folded at all. It's just so comfortable to ride with, I leave it in 99% of the time! My best guess is if you're seeing that on other Saddlemens, the seat owners aren't being very careful when they put their backrest in and take it out. Just my 2 cents.
How many miles total did you ride in that8-12 trip? Also what is the difference between the roadsofa CF and LS? (Prob gonna have to call them for that last question 😂)
In that ride, about 450 miles. As far as the difference, the CF is carbon fiber, the ls is lattice stitch (the design of my seat). Different looks/designs, but still the same roadsofa seat and gel core technology. Hope that helps. I'd still call them or check their website for more details, there may be some other subtle differences. Thanks for watching!
The more I ride the saddlemen, the more I love it. Can't give any advice on a mustang as I've never tried one. I know some Harley dealers have both saddlemen and mustang seats you can demo. Would be great to try them side by side and see what you like best.
Hey there, great video. Question for you. Do you cover it up while riding in the rain or just keep riding? what about when you wash the bike? Also what made you decide this seat over the altimate seat? Trying to figure out what seat to get, but I do not want to have to stop riding to cover the seat up if it starts to rain while on a trip. Thank you.
I have been in some major downpours, never covered it up. Their marine grade saddle hyde doesn't absorb water. I've sat on it and nothing squished out. Just wiped the top of the seat off and went riding. I chose this one because of the extensive reviews on long distance riding. I wanted to be able to go for 10 hour days without having butt and back pain. There may be other seats that can do it, but I can tell you first hand this seat did it for me. Planning to ride 12 hour days to go to Sturgis this year. Wouldn't even consider it without this seat. It's so good I even got a second one for my Harley Sportser (they call it the explorer on the sportster models, but it's basically the road sofa). Hope that helps!
Considering this seat but wondering does it sit you further away from tank. Also, I’m a bus driver and have bad back so need something for tailbone.do this sofa helps w/ lower back? I have 2015 roadking and need a seat ASAP. Love your review and ride safe bro!
I can only give you my experience, but it has definitely helped my lower back. No more back pain or hip/butt pain after long rides. Seating position relative to the tank seems about the same to me. If anything, because it has a lower edge to hold your back up, you sit up straighter instead of slouching, so you feel a little more forward. Measuring shows that you're not, it's just the better posture it puts you in. Just finished a 6 hour butt-in-seat ride today, feel great! Hope that helps! If you have a Harley, some Harley dealers have saddlemen and mustang demo seats to try on your bike. Maybe you can try one out first. Hope that helps!
@@MOTOBLADE thanks for responding back! I’m getting saddleman road sofa for Christmas cause riding season almost over. I’m in in buffalo,ny (snow belt lol). Be safe bro! Going to check out the heating video you got. But hope it has switch that it’s connected to once the bike is off. Don’t want someone to turn switch on or I forget and drain battery
@@MOTOBLADE Thank you so much, very helpful. Still trying to decide between the Saddleman and the Corbin Dual Touring Saddle. I know everyone is different, but I've been seeing a lot of people complaining that the Saddleman is simply not breaking in for them, and extremely uncomfortable..while others absolutely love it. Tough decision especially when paying close to 1K..I also previously had the Chieftan Dark Horse, loverd the bike, put over 12,000 miles on it in about 7 months..when the Challenger came out.. I was sold after the first turn. Stay safe out there bud
Out in 1 second. Back in place in about 5 seconds. Has notches for quick placement so you can get it back to right where you had it setup for yourself before.
Great review. I've been looking at the Road Sofa for my 2016 Springfield so I'm glad I got to see your review. I've also been thinking about raising my bars a little, even with the stock seat, did the Road Sofa change the reach to the bars at all? I also noticed the trunk you installed. Is there a video of it? Just wondering where you got it and the install. Thank you. Ride safe.
Yes! There's both - full trunk installation video and a road sofa installation video on my channel. I noticed with the road sofa, because of the seat coming up my lower back a little, and especially with the back rest, that I sit up straighter and have better posture. That has made my reach to the bars more relaxed. It didn't move me forward, but with the old seat I was leaned back and slouching apparently, so it made it tougher on my arms. I would try the seat first, then do the new bars if you still think you need them. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Saddlemens website says: "Saddlemen’s Profoam actually has an abrasion resistant skin that resists water intrusion." So my guess is since the foam is waterproof, and the saddlehyde is better than marine grade, and the gelcore doesn't absorb water, it's probably a waterproof seat (or as close as you can get). They say they include the cover "to keep it free from water and dirt when you're not riding it." As far as seat height, it raises me up maybe an inch, but more than that it makes you have better posture and sit more upright. Since I'm no longer slouching on the bike, I feel taller, but still have my feet on the ground like before. Hope that all helps! For what it's worth, I left the bike outside in a downpour and all I did was wipe off the top of the seat. When I sat down, no water squished out and soaked my butt.
Good choice of music. I have a more generic question, not related directly to that specific seat. I noticed you have front seat backrest and I was wondering how bad is that on bumpy road, or if you hit a pothole.
It's very forgiving. Don't have any problems with it if I hit bumps or potholes. It's padded with the same material as the seat, and the metal arm it attaches with flexes when you lean back, so it absorbs any pressure. Wonderful thing to have. I will never go back to riding without a backrest! Hope that helps answer your question. Thanks for watching!
@@theodorstravels understandable. You can get the seat without the backrest and it costs less. The seat has a slot for it, so you can always add it later if you want to.
Looking for a new seat for my 2012 FLHTK . I like the seat and the backrest but worry about the comfort of my passenger . If my wife is not comfortable I’m no better off . I’m 6’2” 240 lbs and my wife 135 lbs .
My wife is 160 and I'm 230. She is completely comfortable. Seat MUST be broken in for the first 500 miles, that goes for the passenger too. Now she's comfy enough she can take a nap back there on long rides or heading home from the movies at night. She won't ride any other seat now that she's ridden the Road Sofa. Hope that helps!
@@MOTOBLADE Just want to make sure she has enough room to sit comfortably with me having a backrest. I had my stock seat redone a few years ago and it was good for a while now I’m back to uncomfortable after 120 miles . I also have a backrest and she has enough room. Wanted to get the seat with a little more length for the front so I could set back just a little more . Don’t want the backrest in her way .
Road Sofa with the backrest and heated rider & passenger setup is around $987 from Saddlemen on their website right now. Worth every penny. I'm going on 4 years with mine and it's amazing. Butt never hurts.
My lower back and tailbone always hurt after an hour or so until I got this seat. All my back and butt pain from riding went away. Couldn't be happier about that. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
for this price level, shouldn't they use real leather? By the way, you made a good point: some expensive bikes just do not come already with a seat at the price level of the bike..
I thought the same thing about the leather, but I was informed by some long time riders that the material Saddlemen uses holds up better than leather, retains its shape, doesn't scuff, and doesn't require the maintenance and care that leather does. So I guess it makes sense, since you're paying so much for the seat, you want it last probably the life of the motorcycle. And yeah, I think all bikes over 20k should come with a fancier custom seat. Stock seats suck. For the money you pay, it's not that big of an inconvenience for a company to partner with saddlemen, mustang, or corbin and at least offer it.
I've carried 4 different passengers on the back. All ladies. All have commented immediately how comfortable it was and that they would never had thought a motorcycle would be "comfy". For what that's worth, hope it helps. I don't usually drive from the back seat so I can't comment 🤣
The trunk pad is available on the saddlemen website. Select your specific model year bike and the pad needed, then you can choose the design to match your seat - for example if you have a diamond stitch seat, they will make the diamond stitch pad to match.
You must have a very cushy ass because this seat absolutely tore my ass up on a 7 day trip. It literally felt like it was leaving my ass raw. The seat had about 1500-2000 miles before the trip. I have over 5k on it now and I agree with basically everything you mentioned in this video except the long day riding. I really want to love the seat but this trip left me questioning it now. Best looking seat out there and works perfect for maybe anything under 500 miles a day, which I believe covers most riders. They state this seat is for those who lay down 500+ a day, I beg to differ. I will continue to keep telling everyone this is the best seat out there, but man. Def not for long distance day after day riding. I have also done 3,000+ mile trips on the rogue seat and roadmaster touring seat, both felt better laying down long mileage than this seat. Maybe just bad one time extended break in lol? Time will tell, for the price I will continue to rep it.
Interesting experience on this seat. I've never heard that kind of feedback before. And of course you send me this as I'm packing the bike to leave tomorrow on my 6,000 mile Sturgis trip 🤣 I've done 8 hour days on it with no issues, but this is the first real SERIOUS trip, so I'm now intrigued to see if it's the seat, or maybe I just have a special ass 🤣
@@MOTOBLADE The first day is fine. its the consecutive days that did it for me. just got worse as the trip went on. good luck. ill be awaiting your feedback from the trip

I normally get terrible butt pain after 100 miles and it just won’t let up even with a stretch period. I have a 2020 Challenger and put out a video on occasion for fun, I will probably do some for the “break in” period on the seat.
I think you'll enjoy your new seat a lot. Just remember that break-in period my not be incredibly comfortable at first. But it WILL get comfy!
Love the heated Road Sofa. Excellent choice. Ride safe!
@@MOTOBLADE Thanks. You as well.👍👊
I’m pretty late here, but another rider said that after awhile of riding you can feel the stitching like a stinging.
Great review. One question. Does the road sofa change your seating position in relation to the bars? Any closer or further away?
Because the "back" of the drivers seat doesnt flex, you can see in the pictures of the seat how it comes straight up your lower back a couple inches, it makes you have better upright posture. I don't think it moved me any closer, but my arms are less fatigued because I no longer slouch. Hope that helps answer your question. Thanks for watching!
Just ordered one for my dark horse 2021..damn straight about an investment..lol I'm just common folk but my back is shot and I wasn't impressed with Indians factory seat..so this video was great for me to watch..thanks for the review!!!!
Glad you liked the video, and I hope you love the seat. Thanks for watching!
@@MOTOBLADE that helps a great deal! Thank you for the quality video you put out.
Incredibly comprehensive review / Well Done / Thank You!!!
You're welcome!
Nice review! Looking to get a different seat on our Road Glide Limited from either Mustang or Saddlemen.
The more I ride the saddlemen, the more I love it. Can't give any advice on a mustang as I've never tried one. I know some Harley dealers have both saddlemen and mustang seats you can demo. Would be great to try them side by side and see what you like best.
@@MOTOBLADE I'll have to check around and see if any place has some demo seats. Thanks
@@MOTOBLADE Yes that does thank you.
@@SaskRiderMoto You're welcome!
Good review, thank you.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Good review. Is the rider backrest adjustable for and aft?
Yes. Can adjust the angle forward and aft of the support. I have mine a bit forward to make my reach easier. Makes a lot of difference.
Great review! Can the backrest be moved forward and back aside from up and down?
Yes sir! It has a small adjustment screw in the front that you can move in and out to adjust the travel forward and backward. Very useful!
Does the backrest slide on and off easily for times I don’t want it on?
Does it change your riding position at all?
Great review. Thx
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
So its not water proof?
Do you sit higher or lower in it?
@@MOTOBLADEafter break-in did you sit at yhe same hight or a little lower than when first new? Thanks
@@MOTOBLADE sounds quite reasonable actually. I am not sure if I dare to get a seat witha backrest though. I would be too afraid about my spine :D
Don’t want the backrest in her way .
thanks for your review my friend. How can i buy the seat like you, please.
Glad you liked it! Here's the link to buy the seat: www.saddlemen.com - Thanks for watching!
1200.00 for a seat ,YIKES!
Road Sofa with the backrest and heated rider & passenger setup is around $987 from Saddlemen on their website right now. Worth every penny. I'm going on 4 years with mine and it's amazing. Butt never hurts.
Great Review
Thanks!
Is your the standard or extended reach? I am 6 feet 200 LBS and have a 2018 Street Glide.
Standard reach seat on the Indian Dark Horse.
Excellent review... :-)
Do you have back issues or just normal discomfort from riding? I have tail bone issues and I'm looking for a seat that does not make it worse
Do they have a tall guy version?
Where is this ride from?
Do you actually show the seat?
How is it for the passenger
I've carried 4 different passengers on the back. All ladies. All have commented immediately how comfortable it was and that they would never had thought a motorcycle would be "comfy". For what that's worth, hope it helps. I don't usually drive from the back seat so I can't comment 🤣
Thanks looking for a good seat for wife and I.
Where can I get the trunk to go with the saddleman road sofa seat
The trunk pad is available on the saddlemen website. Select your specific model year bike and the pad needed, then you can choose the design to match your seat - for example if you have a diamond stitch seat, they will make the diamond stitch pad to match.
Order from saddlemen directly if you can, I got hosed by an outside dealer
Did the roadsofa change the seat height at all?
Ever so slightly, I addressed that in the FAQ's towards the end of the video on whether it makes a difference.
Thanks for watching!
You really beat around the bush What was the cost $$$$
I would subscribe but I ride Harley...i almost died watching this
I just bought a harley as a second bike and put a saddlemen seat on it. That help? 😁
