Omega-3 eggs are produced by hens fed a diet containing flaxseed. When the hens digest the flax, some of the ALA gets broken down into DHA and both fatty acids transfer to the yolk. One omega-3 egg typically contains 340 milligrams of ALA and 75 to 100 milligrams of DHA.

You're not getting epa/dha properly from fish oil either or from eating fish.. unless it is raw but that brings in the parasite issue. Fish oil supplements and fish itself also contains mercury and a host of pollutants. Flax oil doesn't have any of those problems, and it's absorption and utilization in the body is better than people think.. hence why we have people reversing all sorts of diseases mega dosing flax.

If you are vegan always make sure you absorb nutrients from plants properly. There are vegans who take algae supplements and find out they don't absorb much of it. Same with beta carotene which doesn't always convert properly to vitamin A. Being able to be vegan long term depends on your body's ability to absorb and convert nutrients. I knew someone whose vitamin A stores were completely depleted in spite of eating a lot of beta carotene rich foods. (As an example) Also check your iron, not everyone absorbs it well from plants (even with vitamin C)

I have an actual education in nutrition unlike the commentor's here. There are lots of things we need that our body doesn't produce. Take vitamin c for example sailors would get scurvy because they didn't eat vitamin c for months at sea. Vegans don't eat a lot of the sources that have omega3's things like fish, eggs etc. The only way they get omega 3's is by converting another omega 3 called Ala (present in flax seeds etc) into other omega 3's that the body needs. However this process is really inefficient and they are often chronically low as a result.

Plant sources of omega are inferior to animal sources. Fish oil is the way to go. Fish oil comes in various forms and the epa/ dha various in amounts. Higher sources of either epa or dha depending on why you are taking it can have a huge difference on your health. A happy brain and fish oil go hand in hand. Much of the delinquency that young people experience in the US may very well be related to their lack of omegas. Having worked in the retail suppllement business for yrs, fish oil is a very big part of the business and can make life a more contented satisying healthier life. Plant sources are really a waste of time. Supplements do offer an advantage over eating fish as almost all mercury is removed whereas fish today is contaminated. That said I would still eat fish as food is still the better way to go. If you are suffering some malady supplements offer easy quick solution to remedy your health issue. You also have Krill which don't cause burps and lower CRP an indicator for heart disease . Fish oil does not lower CRP.

Yes, I wonder for many years now. For example, my grandmother is superhealthy, born in 1926, and the only thing was my father and aunt restricted her moving and then she began having problems. Anyway, she has a health of 100 horses. And she ate poorly for many years, decades. That were postwar years, soviet union and no food. She told me stories when they used to eat only "blue soup" which was basically boiled only from some grains and a bit of fat. The ones that were the first took the spoons with the fat of the soup. The rest was only water with some grain taste left.

    • @limitisillusion7
      @limitisillusion7 10 місяців тому +1

Well, let's think about this. If deficient levels of EPA lead to decreased lifespans, then we have to ask *how much* our lifespans decrease. If it only takes 10 years off our lifespans, then we still live to ~65. That's plenty of time to reproduce, and therefore, our species will survive through the millennia without *optimal* levels of EPA. Optimal levels of EPA to maximize lifespan is not the same thing as sufficient levels of EPA to reach reproductive age.
This is why we have to think critically about these things. We live in the 21st century where we have the luxury to ask these questions, with the goal of *increasing* our lifespan and healthspan.

When you get ALA from food, your body is able to turn some of the ALA into EPA and subsequently to DHA. However, this process provides just a small amount of EPA and DHA.
    Its does make them.
Wrong diets create barriers of EPA that turns to DHA.
If you dont eat the correct balance and rely of carbs as a high intake, then the system won't create the levels because you are not replacing what's lost over time..

What else is essential is cholesterol.
How do vegans get cholesterol? You can “make” it for awhile from broken down cholesterol, but eventually you run out.
Cholesterol IS your sex hormones, your nerves and brain need it to function. It IS the myelin sheath.
This is one reason vegan start healthy and then cheat due to incredible cravings. They lie. They eat cheese in the closet or turkey on the sly and cannot confess because the backlash is intense.
Even the vegan Hindu drink milk from time to time. Why do you think cows are so very sacred in India? It’s a source of food when the crops fail.

I drink milk, eat cheese, yogurt, and occasionally chicken and eggs. I do try to buy the organic animal products, but my diet is pretty much plant based apart from that.
The thing about the vegan lifestyle that's built around harm reduction is that animals do die of natural causes from time to time. And from a moral standpoint, we should use their bodies to the fullest extent we can, while also recognizing that factory farms are disgusting. Beyond that, if it's morally okay for a woman to produce eggs and men to produce semen that go to waste, then certainly we can eat chicken eggs, as those eggs are actually being used.
