4:47 you can see that Craig is writing down the scores to give to the producers so they can ready the scoreboard/camera shots. So I don’t think that is was rigged. It was just a mess.

Ashley wasn’t even the most energetic. I think Joe and Graeme did really well
graeme missed a lift. Joe was entertaining but was just doing lifts the entire time.
@@user-ul8kv6hu7n To be fair, there wasn't much actual technique to critique in any of them. That's not really anyone's fault, it's just the nature of having to do another dance on top of the one they had to do for the main performance as well as it bring one even a lot of the pros weren't particularly familiar with.

I know this was a first time, but they really should have had a camera on every one of the dancers and posted that online so viewers could see everyone. They also should have given the judges more time to talk to one another (it all looked very rushed). Maybe do a commercial or an interview with all the dancers. Aside from that, it was a really fun idea and really enjoyable to watch! Again, wish I could have seen everyone (maybe just one video that shows everyone), but really fun an energetic!
I think they did have a camera on everyone it was just constantly changing obviously.

It's not a first time, they've been doing a something-athon since 2013.
The BBC doesn’t have commercials during programmes
Compare this to the previous swingathon in 2013 where the camera was a lot better and gave you a better view of the whole floor. There looked to be more swing dancing, too, perhaps they were given more time to practice?
ashley and faye are really starting to piss me off, no shit that trained dancers will score highest, there should be a novice handicap mark which is added to novice dancers, so the least amount of dance background will get the highest handicap added to there score and the more dance experiance will ge gradually lower until zero, at least until people have got used to learning dances just my opinion, also i dont think the judge factor in novice dancers enough, in joe was up against ashley for example in the dance off he would stand no chance as her dance background would mean she has a far better chance at being flawless
Christopher McNamee I always think this! Especially considering ashley was in the dance off this week, it’s obvious shes never going to be kicked out no matter who shes against and it must be extra nerve wracking for the others
I would have loved if faye and Ashley were in the dance of last weekend, if the scores are to be believed then faye would have been saved as she was the top of the leader board, in fairness I don't think there's a fix but I think there a lot of favouritism when it comes to Ashley, even Joe would have out dance Ashley this week in a dance of scenario, he's the deserving winner in my opinion, he's a totally novice and he's been in the top 3 more time than I can count
Christopher McNamee thats true, and all the judges seem to love joe (although craig still keeps it real with the scores 😂). Hes my favourite too and It’s not just because ive watched him for years, like he is actually good and surprises me week after week. Even my parents love him
I've watch him for a while, I'm not too impressed will Alfie and Zoe they seem very out of touch because of all the cash they earn they kind of get up my noise, but Joe just is so much more down to earth and just seem like someone I'd get on with so that's the only reason I really watch him, but yea his rythem, progression as a dancer and how dedicated he is defo makes him one of the most deserving of the win, also hes won alot of the viewers hearts cause of his granny

I know they're trying to show that the marks are spontaneous by giving them straight away, but they should give the judges a bit more time if they're gonna do something like this really.

Even though this is over a year old I'm going through old stuff anyway because, like so many here, I'm a Joe and Dianne fan. I've never seen this before though, and actually thought most of the placements ended up being very fair. Here's why.
7th and 6th: Lauren and AJ, Graeme and Oti- These bottom two placements are the only ones I would've switched, tbh, based on what I could see. However, both pairs were closer to the judges table, so maybe they saw something I didn't (camera work is veeeery shoddy here.) What I did see was similar choreo that wasn't at the same level at the other pairs, but Graeme did fail that lift dismally and would put him behind Lauren in my opinion.
5th: Charles and Karen: Honestly, I was at first mad that no one in the comments was complaining that they were underscored! Their choreo was really good, had solid beats and an even mix of lifts/tricks and footwork that other pairs didn't balance and Charles nailed almost all of it that I could see... However, when I watched them really closely, I saw them fail a lift at 3:43. Graeme failed a lift too, but at least Oti was already on the floor and he just messed up the timing-- Charles's mistake was a lot more dangerous and could've ended really badly. Despite the rest of their routine being 1st place material this brings it down A LOT.
4th: Stacey and Kevin- Their routine was good, involved a lot more movement and risk-taking than the other couples who mostly stayed in their designated spots. It's hard to tell because of all the cuts, but it looks like she and Kevin both forgot the steps at one point? I'm looking at 4:10, and maybe 4:24 as well but I can't tell, it looks like Stacey is unsure but she might just be backing away from Kevin for a lift and just not fully committing. She just seems a little hesitant. Personally, I also don't really like the piggyback bc it just cuts into what little time they have. She has good technique, though!
3rd, 2nd, and 1st: Honestly, I'm stuck. I remember when watching the dances come out week by week it was SUCH a huge deal that Faye and Ashley were trained dancers and it was in the comments of every video. Yes, their dances were better here as well. Does that mean either of them deserve the "win" though? Their routines were much more well-choreographed than Joe and Dianne's, who mostly did tricks, and actually show off technique and timing. Should we detract because Ashley and Faye were trained and Joe isn't, though? Is that fair, either, to penalize someone for something out of their control (previous training)? If all three dancers were on equal footing, then it would be perfectly fair to score Ashley and Faye 1st and 2nd with Joe at a distant third, but they're not. Their experience allows their routines to be more well-developed because it takes them less time to get the simple things down, while Joe and Dianne are working from scratch, which is what the point of the show is supposed to be. However, since "leaderboard" scores on Strictly don't mean that much anyway I'm not upset at all that Ashley and Faye scored higher, because they were technically better in every sense of the word. I guess that what I'm trying to say is that they shouldn't have been on the show in the first place (Ashley in particular, as much as I like her she's got tons of experience and even more than Faye) but you can't technically penalize them for it once they're there.
Wow were the judges ever disorganized. I can't believe what Im seeing. You guys need a better back up system.

5:57 is where the fun starts...
For FS, this had NOTHING to do with Lindy Hop, this was sheize..no swing outs, no anything, that reminiscent of "real" swing dancing. This was more likely some joke "jive" dancing with elements from Charleston and lifts from Lindy.
Lindy Hop was a "street dance" with no real rules , but still, some basic elements are the same over all the world, among them are: Swing Outs, Circles, Tandem Charleston etc. This was indeed and utterly shambolic. Look up Lindy Hop on UA-cam and see, what a great dance it is.
The one part of this great series that needs dumping or, at least, its impact on the overall result. Throughout the dance it was clear the judges were so frantically trying to create the list of results that they weren’t even watching the dancers. And when they finally did produce the list, surprise surprise, it basically mirrored the general pattern of the main board. Yes, it’s fun but the shambolic, flaky scoring shouldn’t be allowed to affect the seriously considered scores of the main dances.
I agree, I'm honestly not even sure what they were scoring it on. Which, I mean, scoring it on entertainment alone is fine, but don't make it impact on their real results in that case.

Loved this, watched it so many times and always makes me smile. Perfection is boring, things going wrong but handling it with humour is so much more entertaining :)

faye wasn’t trained in ballroom or latin, and steps dances are choreographed so that everyone can perform them x
7:10 watch faye. gio has his hand round his waist as usual and when they say joe and dianne got 3rd you can see faye squeeze gio’s hand like “we got second” and then their reaction when it was announced was so cute
It was such a fix to get Ashley back on top of the leader board.

Well, Ashley is already a dancer, she has appeared as a JUDGE on a few American programmes i.e. "Dance Your ass off" and she has grown up dancing to routines, whereas many of the other dancers are amateurs, she has an advantage over the other contestants. I personally find this unfair. But that is my opinion. She is nice and all but has an advantage which is not fair.

In any event the viewers votes decide and what you just said will likely be reflected in those votes. I.e. Stacey although not the best dancer is the likely winner. My vote goes to Ashley and then Faye , I'm interested in the best dancer regardless. Like Alexandra last year rather than Joe and Danny a few years back.
@@craigk621 Some votes are for people's dance capability, others are for personality etc. I wish there would be a strictly for amateurs and a strictly for professionals, that way it would all be even, however, by using more advanced dancers and less advanced dancers there is a diversity, which I agree on. So I like the way it is ( a bit of a diversity ) but I prefer people who are progress well. I am not stating Ashley should not deserve to be on strictly, but she does is very experienced in dancing that it is the same old same old every week ( I understand Ashley was in the dance-off, which was a shock but it is obvious that she would win ). That is just my view. I don't mean to sound like I hate Ashley, I am sure she is lovely but I just wish she had less of an advantage to the other competitors. Ashley may be the best dancer but she is not my favourite.

@@nekkije1818 To be fair, I have no idea how they were grading the technique for this segment. Ashley's dancing was pretty, for example, but didn't feel like lindy hop at all. Not that this is her fault, just a result of what I'd presume to be a lack of prep time and bloody awful song choice (who's idea was that?!).

Why? Charles was great, really capturing the style of the dance for me, and Faye and Giovanni are the only ones I saw that did any swingouts (only the defining move of the dance, I guess not that important, right? ) and came closest to the style and technique I'd recognise in lindy hop.
Ashley's posture was superb but spent almost the whole routine on her toes which kept bothering me the whole time.

what i didnt like about this, was when Ashley was announced “last”, she pulled a disgusted face almost as if she thought she didn’t deserve to be last. It’s fine to think this because everyone needs a bit of self esteem, etc however she didn’t need to show it and make the rest of the cast feel uncomfortable. Idk, but this whole lindy hop a thon was a complete waste of time for me as it was a mess.
jess martin I mean she was clearly the best, ofc she didn’t think she deserved to be last, I’d be a bit peeved too. Plus the dancers always looked a bit annoyed and disappointed with low scores or being eliminated so I don’t see a reason to judge her for it, no body was even looking at each other so I don’t think she was really trying to make them uncomfortable. Maybe they should do it on a week with only six teams left so with the extra time from not having another dance they can do two rounds of ‘Lindsey hop-a-thons’ with three teams in each so they can still compare while being able to see everyone and judge fair.
i totally get where you are coming from, but i mean its strictly come dancing, the programme is for celebrities who have never danced before, and its meant to be a fun competition. I get it you would be pissed off but good sportsmen ship really shouldnt be that hard to give?? I do agree with you they should have done this at a later stage however.

Ashley and Faye don’t piss me off at all, their dances really were *that good* and that should be celebrated in its own right. I hate this Tall Poppy Syndrome thing in our country where people feel threatened by others doing really well and like they have to bring them down.
Charles and Karen should have got some props I think though for being very good still (as ever) and Stacey and Kevin were probably more like 2nd place than 3rd when you think about it. I’m not really won over by Joe but he is a good dancer. Graeme & Oti and Lauren and AJ are lovely but I think their scores were fair and right.
The people are angry at Fay and Ashley because they are professional dancers, and therefore it is not fair for them to be on this show.

As a beauty therapist is it just me or was the make up actually terrible for this Dance? The dance was fantastic and love them all. Yet so frustrated with hair and makeup 😟
